Thanks a lot for your comment. I lost my mum as a result of this same kidney disease in 2008 and that's when I knew that nothing is here in Nigeria . The greatest they could offer is the palliative and expensive dialysis procedure . Two teaching hospitals were managing here as at then in which Teaching Hospital Ife was one of them. How many dialysis machines are there in all these so called Teaching Hospitals. Who are even the specialists in Nigeria? The disease is far worst than any known diseases, though it's sometimes managed in developed countries. It's a sickness too complex to handle here in Nigeria . It is worst than cancer or HIV. The only prayer we should be praying to God is that we shall not fall victim and for those affected, God shall touch them with His healing hands.

oludyke: The Dangers of Wilful Sins

We have often heard believers back their sinful lifestyles with statements like “His mercies endure forever”; “we are not under law but grace”; God is love and will always forgive” etc. Those who make such statements are oblivious of the God they are dealing with. The God of the Bible hates it when we sin wilfully or presumptuously. Wilful or presumptuous sins are great transgressions that involve despising God and His Word, and could lead to the loss of a place in His heavenly kingdom.

1. In the Old Testament, we read in Numbers 15:30-31 that God distinguishes between unintentional sins and wilful (intentional, presumptuous) sins. While unintentional sins require atonement, deliberate and defiant sins separated a person from God’s people and the redemption provided for them. We see God in verses 32 to 36 of Numbers 15, commanding Moses that the man caught gathering wood on the Sabbath day be stoned to death. God commanded this because the man committed a deliberate sin by defying God’s law against working on the Sabbath.

2. In 2 Sam 11, David committed deliberate sins of adultery, cold-blooded murder and subsequent cover-up. All these were exceptional evil in God’s sight. As a shepherd in God’s house, these sins became greater. Deliberate, repeated sinning had dulled David’s sensitivity to God’s laws and the right of others. Brethren, the more we sin, cover or make excuses for it, the more insensitive and hardened we become toward it. We must become hardened to sins. We must confess them and take a decision through the grace of God to forsake them. Any sin we deliberately allow and fail to deal with or kill can kill and remove us from God’s heavenly kingdom (may that not be our portion in Jesus’ name, Amen).

3. In 2 Samuel 12:13-14, we see God putting away David’s sin that is, forgiving him by taking away the death penalty and eternal punishment, thus restoring David to salvation and fellowship with Him (Psalm 51). In spite of this, his reputation was forever blemished and the effects of his sin continued throughout the remainder and family history. The consequences of David’s sin were irreversible. Sometimes an apology isn’t enough. When God forgives us and restores our relationship with Him, He doesn’t eliminate all the consequences of our wrongdoing.

4. David’s experiences after he was forgiven and restored is a sober lesson for those who casually treat sin as something that God simply forgives and forgets.

5. In 1 John 3:15, John the beloved wrote that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him or her. Murder which includes anger and hatred (Mt 5:21-22; 1 John 3:15) and other sins such as bitterness, jealousy, unforgiveness, sexual immorality or impurity, abandonment of one’s family, leading others to sin, cruelty etc are deliberate sins that lead to spiritual death. These abominable sins manifest utter rejection of honour toward God and loving care for others. Thus anyone who says “I have fellowship with Jesus Christ; I’m indwelt by the Holy Spirit and in a relationship with God,” yet participates in the above and other sins, is deceiving himself or herself and “is a liar, and the truth is not in him or her” (1 John 1:6; 2:4; 3:7-.

Conclusion
In sinning wilfully against God we despise the commandments of God, we treat Him contemptuously and make Him of little account. In committing these sins, we are saying to God that He is unworthy of our love and devotion. Ministers of God and other believers who commit sin presumptuously reflect their estimate of God and His holy Word. They treat the gospel and the blood of Christ contemptuously as if they are petty and unworthy fidelity.

If we say we are true born-again believers, we cannot make sin our lifestyle because of the eternal life of Christ abiding in us. 1 John 3:9 tells us that no one who is born of God will continue to sin or practice sin or keep sinning. John emphasises that those truly born of God cannot make sin their way of life, because the life of God cannot exist those who make a practice or habit of sin. Believers may occasionally lapse from God’s high standard, but they will not continue in sin deliberately as a lifestyle. That which keeps the faithful from sinning deliberately and habitually is God’s seed in them.

I beseech you to repent and forsake your sins so that you enjoy a time of refreshing with the Lord. Have your totally surrendered unto God and make Him your Saviour.

Take the following steps of faith in order to be saved and receive strength to serve Him.
A – Admit that you are a sinner (Rom 3:23)
B – Believe that the Lord Jesus Christ is able to save you from your sins and sins’ problems (Mathew 1:21)
C – Confess your sins and invite the Lord Jesus Christ as your Lord and personal Saviour (Romans 10:9-10)
D – Depart from doing evil and live a righteous life in Christ Jesus (Titus 2:11-14)

Regular Genotype: AA (healthy as healthy can be)

Traits: AC, AD, AF, AG, A+FAST, AE and AS (not associated with any clinical signs, symptoms or syndromes - they as relatively as healthy as AA)

Genotypes associated with clinical features: SS, SC, CC (are associated with clinical signs, symptoms and syndromes)

Please note that the marriage thing is this, I really don't know what the recent trend is but the important thing is to make sure your genotype of you and your partner don't match up in a way as to produce an children with SS, SC and CC. These children only suffer for nothing!

Simple, from your biological parents.

If papa bomboy has a genotype AA and mama bomboy has a genotype AS, which genotype do their children have? What we do in theory is this, you cross each of those letters so that you have AA, AS, AA, AS? Therefore, for each pregnancy and each bomboy they delivery has a 50:50 probability of being AA or AS.

What if their genotypes were AA (for papa bomboy) and SS (for mama bomboy); you do the crossing again: AS, AS, AS, AS. Therefore, it is very UNLIKELY that any of their children will have a genotype outside of AS.

You will see that I have used the word unlikely because SHIT happens. They might end up having a child who is either completely AA or SS but whatever happens, a child's genotype is never outside of the parents. Eg. a man and woman who are both AA can never have children with genotype starting or ending with 'S'. If it happens, talk to your landlord (just kiddin').

So for you to get AC, you must have a parent who carries a 'C' in his or her genotype. I hope that answers your question?

One more thing: Are there any clinical features of Hemoglobin C like Hemoglobin S?

In the case that you're AC, well the good news is that MOST TIMES THERE ARE NO SYMPTOMS, but occasionally, there is JAUNDICE.

The story goes,

What you have following in your blood are cells, the most predominant of which are called RED BLOOD CELLS (RBCs). These cells contain within them HEMOGLOBIN, a substance without which the RBCs are invariably useless. This hemoglobin itself is composed of 2 parts: a heme (don't bother yourself, this basically is a complex Iron-protein complex) and globin (2 pairs of protein chains, this is the important part).

There are 2 alpha and 2 beta globin chains - the pair, and there is a normal way the chains are supposed to be structured. The error happens when a protein substitution occurs in any one of these chains - but particularly in the globin chains (First of all, you have to understand that amino acids are the building blocks of proteins - so if amino acid 'x' is the normal, an abnormality occurs when instead of 'x' at a particular location along the chain, you have 'y'.)

That is as simple as it gets. These errors of substitution are given the big name of 'THALASSAEMIAS'. In reality, a substitution will occur at any point along either the alpha or beta chains but for the purposes of simplicity and to answer your question, we focus on the genotypes AS, SS, AC.

Genotype AA: At position 6 of both globin chains,the amino acid is GLUTAMATE
Genotype AS: At position 6 of one globin chain is GLUTAMATE and at position 6 of the second globin chain, you have VALINE
Genotype SS: At position 6 of both globin chains, the amino acid is VALINE
Genotype AC: At position 6 of one globin chain is GLUTAMATE and at position 6 of the second globin chain, you have LYSINE

I hope you can appreciate the above. This little substitutions can cause significant differences in the quality of life that you experience with a genotype.

Could you explain this? A man lost his job suddenly and he was seeking God's face for another one. While a CAC pastor from another church was praying for him, he saw in a vision that the man has been withdrawing something belonging to God to himself. He asked the man if he had been paying his tithe and the man said no. The pastor advised him to pray for forgiveness and that he(the man) should go back to the church he attends and make amendment of which he started doing henceforth. The pastor told him that within few weeks, he would be called back. Surprisingly enough, after few weeks, his former working place called him back that his sack was a mistake and that they didn't know how it happened. He wasn't only called back, but promoted. This is a true life story. I can give you 15 examples of this similar scenario .
