Bro, I share the same feelings about this brain drain issue too. Our country is really sitting on a time bomb.
thousands of Naija Human capital just dey port to advanced country every year.

Nobi today jare, Nigerians have always been trouping out since the 70's. Its a long standing issue for which there's no motivation to address. And coupled with the fluidity and general ease the Internet provides, there was a serious increase in brain drain. But then provided there's still money to steal, there is no problem at all for our Sinators, Legislooters and Presido. Ah yes almost forgot about the disgraceful state of our primary, Secondary and tertiary education.

Congrats with your admission. But now now is the time to take action. Given that from now till December is just some days above 4 months. So there's a good chance that you can make Janurary. My advice is that you go through the online route since it seems to be a bit faster. As regards sponsorship, since you've been working for over 6 years, what you are required to show is proof that your account can sufficiently take care of your tuition and board for one year plus an excess of $10,000, proof of your employment and pay slips if available.

However, get more opinions from here and read through the thread.

All the best

Okay boredom has some advantage. Anyway since I couldn't concentrate on my current task (Android programming bring me the contracts oh minimum 6 figures oh grin) , I started searching for degree programs outside Canada similar to my intended one and University of Massachusetts has something quite good. Admission process for second degree doesn't even look half as tough as UBC. Would investigate further on Monday.

And price self isn't looking bad.

Very hard to understand. How about those of us that have not heard anything though we applied before 15th? and also what of those that applied after May 15th that have since received mails to proceed for medicals?

O boy I tire o. I so hate this feeling. Seriously I wish I just knew or could totally prevent my mind from thinking about it.

my people I was at CDHC today and I got a call from them. I was told to chill and I explained my predicament and they said they are aware that resumption date is near.

I further explained to her that I came from Abuja and she said I should have sent a mail first, I told her I did but never got a response. she verified my email and apologized for the delay and said hopefully they'd get back soon.

got home checked my email saw a response to my previous email saying they are currently processing those that submitted on may 15th. So hopefully it would soon be our turn

Bros....this is very simple....These clinics are money making ventures. ..and they want your money...plus its a hospital saddled with responsibilities to carry out tests normally...worked in hospital for two years...and have never heard were someone will be sent back cos he wants to do medicals...its just logical...they collect your money...and if the person isnt called eventually...they chop the money...if yes...less work for them. .

So either way its win win for them!
I will just advise you chill if you are outside lag....its not worth the stress around this time

thanks just got into Lagos some minutes back. would visit CDHC tomorrow. hopefully I'd be able to state my case and get something tangible other than that they are processing it

Bro...he can if he chooses to...the only ish is that his results will be kept there until he his officially called by CDHC..all he needs to do is to inform them he is doing it for Canny and they will keep the results for him till he is called!

Can we please have a second opinion as regards the above.Has anyone tried this before ? Also I've been hearing about this Asaju and Consultant Practice. Can i have their location? Also how much does the medical examination cost? Coming to Lagos to knock on CDHC door isn't good enough. But doing this should justify the cost. Thanks

@earthgreeners , @PlayPays

Congrats, it seems knocking on their doors really pay after all. Please can you provide me with directions to the embassy?

Also when I get there I should request for a withdrawal form and tick inquiry instead right ?

Another question, My current contract expires this month end, I was asked if I could extend for some months till a new replacement is found. This is expected to last 4months. Now since CDHC is still "processing", If for some reason CDHC don't get their act together quickly and I miss resumption deadline but then I've renewed my contract and medic invite comes. Do I still have to leave or can I just wait till January.

Also as a side note it seems its like habitual for Canada to take her time in processing stuff. I got in touch with my Host family and she explained that she know how frustrating this can be for me. her son was on scholarship to Colorado and they faced quite a great deal of government bureaucracy.

Most people have been receiving questionnaire from their schools, please when its time to give feedback/suggestions , tell the schools to ensure that admission decisions are reached early so that there's at least 4-6 months interval between admission decision and resumption date. That way it would be easier for foreign students.

Okay quick question can I send someone down to the embassy to help me make inquiry as regards my application i.e. fill the form ? Who knows maybe it might boost their memory that students are supposed to resume September? Would have done it myself but I live in Abuja and coming down to Lagos isn't small journey. Thanks

People i need advice on this.

Am about mailing CDHC as regards my application. While i understand the fact that my application isn't up to four months yet and its their policy not to respond to inquiries that falls within this period of time, but the reality is that September is here and its resumption time.

Failure to resume September would mean January which is TERM II. Just realizing that TERM II implies that my course plan is screwed - I can only take 2 out of 6 courses due to prerequisite requirements which I should have satisfied in TERM I. Further trying to take this courses from TERM I in TERM II is nearly impossible as they are filled to the brim including the waiting list. (Not too sure about this. I'd send a mail to my department and see if anything can be done in this case as the bulk of the courses are from outside the department also.)

Also my department is organizing an interactive session between alumnus, industry players, and people who had walked the same road we are embarking on. Key issues, questions, headsup would be dealt with. I really want to attend this as I seriously consider it beneficial as no one really has the monopoly of knowledge. And its easier learning from people, there's no point of reinventing the wheel or making the same mistakes some made.

Am also gone past deferment as that closed in July.

Also what email address should I send this email to? Is there any harm in sending this email? Thanks
Travel / Re: Travelling To Canada Part 4 by adewaleafolabi(m): 7:54am On Aug 10, 2013
Ileofe: @ChriGo thanks for the response, the problem is she (sponsor)doesn't have a birth certificate, aside birth certificate what other document is acceptable for such purpose?

Maybe a sworn declaratin of age and family tree, or documents showing her change of name or some family photos. I maybe wrong on this but however, confirm with Oga@dTop (Oga Siga)

SO PREPARE FOR ANYTHING OOOOO.... am going for psychiatric nursing Bsc too............ started reading my buks too ooo.....lols

Why did you choose the field of Psychiatry?

Simple, my people for decades have passed down by word of mouth knowledge relating to insanity, its treatment and even how to induce it. As part of my growing up, I was taught some of these methods and have seen mixed results from these methods.
Although, some of the methods are crude, further knowledge in Psychiatry can help refine these methods, scientifically test the basis of the knowledge that was passed, help enlighten my community and fellow traditional healers. I intend to continue with Dr. Thomas Adeoye Lambo's practice of infusing western practices with traditional medicine.
Hopefully, all these would help me in documenting and building a body of indigenous psychiatric knowledge which would hopefully help preserve and ensure continuous scientific research in this field.

Work Experience:
1. Baba nojikatu Alternative Therapy 1996-2005 (Apprentice in Traditional Psychiatric Practice)
2. Ifadele Onisegun (Assistant Traditional Healer 2005-2008 )
3. Aro (Intern 2010)
4. Yaba Left(2012-2013 NYSC)
