According to http://pri.org/stories/2013-03-06/h-1b-skilled-worker-visas-under-fire they would use the B1/B2, but of course that's just a news story, not an official statement. The news story does say that App Academy graduates have trouble figuring out what sort of visa they need to remain in the U.S. and try to find an employer after they graduate. I wish I could give you a clearer answer, but this is a very unique situation. Please let us know what App Academy tells you.

Please pardon the verboseness of my question.

I am quite passionate about programming. I've considered a 2nd degree as my first was in economics (and seriously find it too unrealistic ). In my search i found App Academy (AA )(http://www.appacademy.io). AA is an intensive/extreme web development course in San Francisco. It also comes with a twist - the program would only charge after an individual gets a job and would then spread payment over 6 months. They take it a step further by ensuring upon completion of the program, a job fair is organized for students.

The program is open to international students however, in order to participate in the work recruitment which is quite important for on the job learning and work experience which cant be acquired in 12 weeks, a work permit is required.

I've been working for quite a while, since university and have handled a number of IT projects. However,learning on my own has become monotonous.

App Academy with it gruesome and totally requiring curriculum and competitive nature is just what i need in order to take my software career forward. its more software development oriented and requires less time to complete than a 2nd degree

Now my questions are as follows:
1. What class of visa would i apply for to participate in this program.
2. Is it feasible to apply for a work permit in order to participate in the hiring fairs?
3. If yes to the above, how do I legally apply for a work permit ?

Long term prospects:
Expand the application, make it more generic and usable by not just for mobile banking, but more of a mobile registration platform.

I did my medicals @consultants practice. How do i track whether my medical results have been sent. Do I have to visit CDHC ? Or can it be done online ?

It turns out that Childhood TB can leave visible and permanent scars on an individuals lungs. Imagine claiming not to have ever had TB and the chest x-ray says otherwise. Honesty in this case is the best way out .

Also an individual might be too young to remember so ensure to ask for your medical history from parents or primary care giver.

Congrats guy...as regards the lease..I found out here you can tell person you staying with to Google "lease agreement in Alberta" just slot in the province and its like a 5 page document and all you need do is sign....and you can deposit at least one or two months into his account and print out the statement of acct to support it..that should do... OR you can write to the embassy stating relationship if you dont like the former!

I got my passport today and was asked to pay for a year tuition and board.
However, my school had me deregister my 1st semester since it had closed. Now all i can pay for is second semester.
Also am not staying on campus. Am staying with an homestay family. We've been in touch for months now.

Do i just go ahead to pay for a semester alone, since registration for next session isn't open and i can't pay for it. Also do i tell my homestay family to write a letter on my behalf to CDHC? Thanks

Sorry about your lost files; that ish is painful.

What method(s) did you attempt to recover them?

I used Testdisk, Photorec and Scapel + 1 other i can't remember for now.

(My files was on an ext4 logical partition (Two bad recipie ext4 + a logical volume = Nightmare for recovery).

Also my medical instruction came in like two hours ago. I was with a client and he needed to check his mail and it just occurred to me to just check mine and there it was, containing mu UIC and medical attachment.

Of a truth God is indeed great, for me this is an opportunity to get fulfilled, start over, study what I've alway wanted.

Story plenty on top this matter but na for another day o.

Thanks for the headsup jare. Sure life continues. I know to an extent what HBP does; its one of those things you shouldn't have. It changes an individuals lifestyle completely. And really hinders a person. As for the TRV, am resolved that something must happen this week. And even if it doesn't well a little bit of patience* wouldn't kill.

Also word of advise to people. Please for heavens sake have a backup plan. Over the weekend I was working on my pc and was a bit distracted and entered a wrong command on my shell which wiped my entire user folder. This contained lots and lots of Documents, Pictures, Work files, Source Codes etc. Wasn't funny. Attempts to recover the most important ones was futile.

I had some files backed up but left out a major folder that contained my newest projects. Months of work almost down the drain. Lesson for me is this, have backups, ensure it works. And be ready to rebuild.

clusterphobia: Designated Medical Practitioner will arrange for the following tests:
 
- Large PA chest X-ray together with a radiologist's report for any person 11 yrs of age or older.
- Blood test (VDRL or similar test) for all applicants 5 yrs of age or older.
- A Urinalysis (sugar, protein, blood) for all applicants 5 yrs of age or older.
- HIV test for any person 15 yrs of age or older, children who have received blood or blood products, or have a known HIV mother, and all potential adoptees.

Besides the above, there will also be an 'Eye Test'. It is just a long distance reading of the Vision Table.

They will also check your blood pressure, height, weight and will perform general whole body check up. Better drink lots (and I mean lots and lots) of water before going for the urine test to get a good urine report. Don't deposit the first urine of the day.
Get blood pressure checked by some local doctor atleast 48 hours before your medical for immigration. Get medicine if required to make it normal. DMPs usually consider BP reading upto 130/90 as normal. Don't worry, they won't be able to find out about the medicine if you do not rerveal it.
Don't lie about any operation which has left visible scar on your body. Remeber they will throughly (I MEAN IT) check your body so don't lie about anything which they can find out.

So...its good... but will advise u to jam am with certifications...
