I work at ABSU. The fact is that Okezie Ikpeazu's administration owed us for 11 months but now it's 14 months. We were engaging the past government over payment. Non payment of these arrears was among the reason why we voted PDP out and the fact that LP promised to pay all arrears before the end of last year.
Till now, they've not paid the arrears and have started adding their own arrears by not paying us April, May and June salaries, hence the need for the protest.
We've been subjected to series of verifications and nothing so far to show for it. We've accepted the fact that all politicians are the same and don't want to sit and wait for another series of unpaid salaries to pile up again.

I pray you all get what you’re owed, you worked so hard for it. If Ikpeazu is owing 14 months salaries to thousands to Abians plus the 29 billion procured debt before leaving office, then why is Otti sweeping this under the carpet instead of probing Ikpeazu?.

Now, which one should we now believe. You claimed 14. The protesters claimed 11. The news paper you posted claimed 13. I am not saying he is not owing but news has it that he asked the workers to undergo verification. I hope you've done your verification? You're entitle to your wages but don't join to crucify the governor because he has told you the conditions to attained before the salary arrears can be paid. Please calm down.

But the protesters say 11 months but you're saying 14 months, why the contradiction? Are you saying the protesters doesn't know how many months the government is owing them? Please don't over exaggerate issue and pelt the people against the government. No doubt workers are worthy of their wages but they need to give the governor more time, as everyone know the time of state he inherited. I also plead with the governor to do something quick, even if he cannot pay all at a go, he should pay in batches.

For your information... It's the good people of abia state that voted otti in and not a few teachers in ABSU.

Go and do your verification and wait for your salaries

You’re trying so hard to defend your best Governor in Nigeria but those workers are not kids, they are parents and grand parents who are being owed 11 Months salaries. Otti has spent 1 year and two months as a governor yet he’s owing 11 months already which is not cool.

What you need to understand is that baby things are generally very costly. Secondly, escalation has taken a toll on the prices of things . It seems a lot of people have not taken into account the effect of the naira losing value in the economy
I gave my wife 350K initially but she bought wasnt substantial.
She added her money and i gave her additional.
BEd alone is 170k-200k depending on the quality. Breast pump (for when your baby my not have the mum around) is 50k in the market. just these 2 items have taken 220-250K out of your 400K. now talk about feeding bottles, diapers, clothes (there are several types your baby will need), Powder/soaps, baby oils, shoes, other stuff, wardrobe alone for kids na 120K. Haba

This is not a bad salary considering the fact that Assistant Lecturership is meant for a fresh graduate with good grade like first class or 2.1. Are you saying 125k is too small for a fresh graduate to start life with? It is not too bad if not renewed shege induced inflation
