Oh, my dear Kwara. I served in Share, a lovely town close to Yikpata, back in 2012. I had planned to visit Share again and celebrate one of the Ileyas with my family. I pray that this insecurity issue is resolved soon. God heal Nigeria! |
Abia will be great again. How we praise Otti and accommodate all his mess but speak against Tinubu's policies suprises me. They've both failed. Woefully. |
adicious:It is important that I notify this forum that I have received my April, May and June salaries. I just received June this morning. The Governor also promised to pay up the 11 months arrears from the previous administration before the end of the year. It is important I keep you all up to date. It is still possible we will still go on strike by the end of our meeting today because of other issues we have with the government beyond payment of salary. The other grievances are: University Autonomy, TSA, Earned academic allowance and Unnecessary deductions from our salary. I will update you with the outcome of the meeting. |
hopexter:You're right. A little correction though... Ikpeazu = 11 months Otti = 3 months Total = 14 months. |

004gist:I have been verified if that's the basis for payment but the Government is still owing me. We put Ikpeazu on pressure too. Everything is not an attack on the government. We all joined hands to castigate Ikpeazu's government and we won't stop now. This is the last time I'll reply you. |
004gist:What I wrote here was 100% fact as an insider. You are actually speaking based on your blind support for the government. Abia State is owing me and Abia State has to pay me. I didn't deny the fact that part of the arrears is from the last government and LP, while campaigning promised to offset the arrears before the end of 2023. We did not protest only because of 11 months arrears but the fact that Alex Otti's government is owing us additional 3 months arrears. Don't confront issues blindly. 14 months salary is a big deal. |
Ricardokaka7:I swear. All politicians are the same. |
hopexter:I work at ABSU. The fact is that Okezie Ikpeazu's administration owed us for 11 months but now it's 14 months. We were engaging the past government over payment. Non payment of these arrears was among the reason why we voted PDP out and the fact that LP promised to pay all arrears before the end of last year. Till now, they've not paid the arrears and have started adding their own arrears by not paying us April, May and June salaries, hence the need for the protest. We've been subjected to series of verifications and nothing so far to show for it. We've accepted the fact that all politicians are the same and don't want to sit and wait for another series of unpaid salaries to pile up again. |
Obiedun:My biggest regret is supporting the Labour Party. When they won, we were rejoicing in Abia not knowing that we brought in a dictator as a Governor. Every worker is complaining. In Abia State University where I work, we will possibly go on strike on Friday over 3 months unpaid salaries. The last government was owing us 11 months salary and the present governor promised to pay it before the end of last year, till now, nothing has been done. Imagine being owed 14 months of salary. This LP thing is a social media propaganda. I'm no longer part of it. I won't even believe Peter Obi again if I am to judge Labour based on what Alex Otti is doing. |
That's why some theories of Economics ends with ceteris paribus, meaning all things being equal. In the case of Nigeria, all things are not equal, both the rich and poor are using the petrol. We have a unique power challenge that has the poor own a small generator they use almost daily and this requires petrol. The smallest business, say pure water business needs petrol to chill the water. A tailor needs to power his electric machine and the market woman needs to grind her tomato and pepper and it requires petrol. The issue is that politicians employ advisers based on political compensation and not based on academic qualification and competencies. Also, the government has so borrowed that they need to please those who are they are owing. Without the corrupt practices enshrined into the subsidy policy, it was a good policy to boost SMEs and reduce the cost of living but all these deep and even the deeper use cases I didn't mention were not considered. At the end, may Nigeria win. |
larryUG:You guys are misleading people... Kai! 1 million for what? If you are rich, you can go for luxury but don't advise a basic earner to have the same budget as you. A good woman will use 400k judiciously and have extra for savings. Baby stuffs are not as expensive as you are projecting. Make out time to go to big markets where resellers buy from. |
Barrywilly:That's not the case. The category you are talking about is called Graduate Assistant. To be an Assistant Lecturer, you need to have an MSc in your field. It's more like a step 2. |
My Papa.... What God cannot do, does not exist! |
Side hustles have been helping out. After the ASUU strike of 2020, I made up my mind never to depend solely on salaries as a lecturer. I opened a Unisex salon and started operating pos spots. Luckily I became an aggregator with Opay and Bankly. The situation is really bad but I thank God because it would have been worst than this without the second stream of income, especially someone from Abia State University being owed up to 10 months' salary. |
The official labour party's website ( https://labourparty.com.ng/ ) has received many visitors over the days as some people are beginning to find it difficult to access the site due to traffic. Many Nigerians have started registering to be members of the party through the website ( https://labourparty.com.ng/membership-registration-form/ ). This is mostly because many young Nigerians have resolved to support Peter Obi to be president. The number of registered members of the party is increasing by hundreds per hour as I have observed today. Peter Obi could be a great movement to challenge the status quo.

I do a lot in the house and the kitchen and I don't see it as helping my wife but as contributing to the family. My job gives me more time to wash, clean and even cook for the family and I do it happily. I don't do it for peace to reign but to allow my wife relax better and not to be over stressed. |
Most Universities won't employ you as a GA because you didn't make 2¹. If you have money, you can start your Masters in a less competitive school that will admit you at your grade. I know Universities that take as low as 2.7CGPA for masters. PG programs can be very expensive. So I'll advice you get a job that will sustain you till you conclude your MSc and a job as an AL. |
The picture of Ikpeazu's family is an old picture from 6 years ago. OP should have done a little more research. |
I decided to jump on this one... Life before getting a job was crazy. I finished NYSC June 2013 and moved to Lagos (I served in Kwara and based in the east before service). I kept looking for a job in Lagos till the end of 2013. I used all my savings on transport and I wasn't successful in getting something to do. I actually failed most of the job tests I wrote even though I prepared very well. This was not funny for me because I was actually good in my university days, I graduated best in my class. Accommodation was a very serious issue for me. I kept moving round family friend's houses in Lagos till I visited my uncle's house who was so nice and I was comfortable staying with. I won't stress what I went through other places I stayed. I stayed in Lagos till December 2014. I traveled to the east for Christmas and never went back to Lagos. I still didn't do anything throughout 2015. I went for interviews too but by then I've given up on job search. I had to pick form for MSc since school was actually a thing I was good at. I got there, became a course Rep and helped the working class in my group to fix assignments and other errands, I got money for my services and I met some nice people too. With that I was able to get busy and pay my fees too. I took the MSc like a job till I was able to secure a job as a lecturer in another University. I skipped a lot of details but it took 4 years and 6 months before I got my first job. I won't say I've made it yet but life is good now. Life in Lagos was the craziest for me but I learnt a lot of lessons about life which guide my daily living till date. I believe everyone will make it... Let's keep struggling, Nigeria has failed us but we won't fail our family. Thanks. |
I know one of his songs; Sinner man. It remains one of my favourite Nigerian rap songs. At a point in his career, he was more interested in his fight with Olamide. Last song I heard from him was a diss rely on "Who you help". RIP Bro.... From a fan. |
Abians Voted for Ikpeazu... Forget what you see online. Most of the bad pictures of Abia State are old pictures, some of these places have been fixed by Ikpeazu. |
ugo4u:Seriously? Livestock development? A government that is not serious about human development. |
mazimee:Sir, List the Bad roads in Umuahia biko? Then compare Aba with what it used to be in 2015. I know we have passed the level of assessing performance with good roads but Ikpeazu performed and deserves a second term. Otti is just a thief who wants to regain the hundreds of millions he lost in 2015. |
All I see Fidelity bank umbrella. |
Hamstrong001:Which State did they pay? I have not gotten alert. |
Abia State ofc87: |
Got an invite yesterday.. How can I reach someone who has gone through the training? I have questions to ask. |
I know graduates who earn less than 20k in a month because they resorted to low paying jobs to make ends meet. NPower should be for the unemployed and underemployed. Those graduates who are not doing a well paying job has the right to apply as citizens of Nigeria. |
Urgently, $20 BTC for sale at 370 |
Same thing I said last year. I am in the last semester of an MSc program and I am applying for Npower this year. The truth is that you just need the extra 30k till the dream job comes, it won't change a thing. Guys who applied last year in my class have extra money for textbooks and money to do their research while I'm still waiting for Shell and no extra 30k. ebuka10box: |
