Hello landed Seniors,
Trust y’all keeping well.
Am landing in Calgary early April. I started my accommodation search early cos am traveling with my kids. I must say this accommodation thingy is not a walk in the park at all. Without employment, credit history or references no one is willing to rent. When u find one too, it’s an adult only building or single occupancy ‍♀️‍♀️‍♀️‍♀️.
Immediately you tell them you are a newcomer, end of conversation.
My friend went for viewing of another place on Friday and as usual no employment wahala. She insists on taking 6months rent upfront.....I was negotiating for 3months upfront but proving difficult. Even though I can afford the 6months rent upfront, giving out such an amount early on in this journey freaks me.
I need your honest opinions pls.
Thank you

Hello Everyone,
Happy Sunday
Please those in Calgary who have kids in Catholic schools, how did u get admission if you are not a catholic?
Have seen on most of the schools website that they require either the baptismal cert of one parent or the child for registration.
Pls help a sister out.
Thank you.

vcole:
@adiepena I see you’ve gotten good responses to your questions. I just wanna chip in a lil bit.
It’s never easy to relocate with kids and I can’t even say that there is a perfect age to do so with less stress. Your decision would be largely based on assessing your personal emotional, physical and mental capabilities as well as your preferences. One thing to note is that since your kids would not be with you, you would not be eligible for child benefit or gst/hst credits. For quite a number of new immigrants with kids these come in handy in the initial period of settlement. In addition, being in a licensed profession often requires being willing to take on survival jobs or chart an alternative career path.
Full day school hours for us are 8:30-3:30. Kids would usually have half day Fridays ending at 12:30 or just go to school on alternate Fridays. There are also teacher professional development days aka PD days and other days when school is out but parents still need to work. Kids will only be allowed to stay home at age 12 after taking a mandatory course. So, in a nutshell what I’m trying to say is to emphasize what @salford1 said that daycare is always a factor to consider until your eldest turns 12. For now, you’ll most likely be looking at a circa $700-ish monthly child care bill for both kids with subsidy approval. That would cover before and after school for your first and full time Dayhome for your youngest. It’s really not a bad amount as child care costs go. Some government funded bridging/work experience programs actually cover your child care costs for the duration in which you are enrolled in the program.
It is a lot to handle 2 kids, and the decision ultimately lies with you. If you think you can cope, then it’ll be challenging but it is doable.
Many thanks @vcole.
I appreciate all the suggestions.
Bless you.

Good morning people,

Finally got another PPR mail.
They decided to give me 15days to submit.

They requested i add an IMM008 form to it (Family Composition List).

Am not able to download this form. Please anyone who has it, kindly send me a mail.
Help a sister please.

Thanks a lot

Rijo02:
Sorry about that. It is obvious that sending multiple emails wouldn't make them to reply. But I am certain it was received. Maybe you should try calling the IRCC Call Center via Skype (although they are usually not helpful. But try!).

As a backup, you can start making plans for someone in India who can help! A colleague of mine just went to India for vacation. I am sure he isn't close to New Delhi but help will definitely come when it is sorted for!

It will definitely be fine.
Thanks @Rijo02.
Already got in touch with someone. He will make enquires for me tomorrow and feedback.

Rijo02:
Yes, I think already read where someone mentioned that that they don't. Alternatively, you can actually send an email to CPC Ottawa and they will reissue you a new PPR letter with Accra office! Someone just posted it not too long ago. I think that will be ideal for you.

Thanks for the phone number too!
Sent about 5 mails already. No response undecided

Rijo02:
Sorry about the extra stress even after you have received the approval. If I am asked to say, it isn't a big deal to send the passport to India. As I already mentioned, one of my friends who lives in Australia was asked to submit her passport to Ottawa. It was surprising they asked her give there are offices in Sydney. She did that and he passport was back within 2 weeks (even earlier than sending to our Accra neighbors).

That said, please you mentioned that you called Accra VO? Do you mean VFS Accra? Can you please give me the number that you called as my wifes' passport has been there for quite sometime now with no update whatsoever?

Thanks!
India doesnt accept couriered docs. Submission is in person

Yes i mean the VFS Accra

Good day house,

Fellow India/Nepal PPR clinchers, any good newshuh?

Am not making any headway with regards to it. The CSE i raised came back that they have verified the information i gave and they have forwarded to the office in charge and they will get back to me.

I called Accra VO on Monday and they said i should mail the Canadian High Commission in Accra(which i have done but have no response yet).

I called Accra VO again this morning to find out if i can submit the passports, since they can verify and issue the visa. They said since it is specifically stated that it should be sent to India, they cant do anything about it. Either CPC sends a new letter instructing Accra or i send them to India as earlier indicated. 30 days is ticking

I asked how i should go about sending to India if that remains my last option and the agent wasnt helpful. He said he doesnt know. I thought Canada has designated VFS for passport transmission.

Fingers crossed.
Will update the house if i get any helpful information.

Since my arrival in Canada, I have only met just 1 Dietitian
Bless you @salford
The plan is not to avoid paying childcare totally. I pay child care as at now here so paying shouldn't be a problem.
My concerns are to reduce the hours that need to be paid. Full time school will take a chunk of my headaches away.

It is well.
It will all work out in due course.

Have an idea how i can set up my make up biz? Please share

Bsbabe:
I feel your pain
Thanks @Bsbabe
Spilling the realities right there for me.
Truth be told, its not an easy decision to be made. This whole Canny thing is for their sake and it wont make any sense to put them in any form of danger in pursuance of the Canny dream.
I have had them spend 8weeks with the grannies before when i was terribly overwhelmed and breaking down.
Just 30mins flight to them...I missed them greatly but the break was good.Mentally it wont be easy but physically it will be ideal as i try to find my feet first.
They have a good relationship with them and they dont over pamper them thou i think they are more lenient towards them than they were with my siblings and myself. One year is long but not too long.
It is doable. I feel it is better to integrate first, build good relationships and networks(even though relying on ppl is not an option.Everyone has one challenge or the other). At least i can have better deals or prolonged home care into the night if i have to do night shifts.
Where there is a will, God always makes a way.
It will also end in praise.

Any idea how i can start my makeup biz when i land?
It will be appreciated.
Thank you

salford:
My reply is based on your second option.
Many thanks @ salford
My fear of option two is based on expiry of the medicals.
Am a clinical dietitian and it’s a long winding road ranging from various assessments to examinations to possible internships before I can practice. That aside, something close to it which doesn’t require a lisence is Dietary Technician or Aide and from the vacancies I have seen, mostly go on shifts.

That said, the struggle is real but my thinking is if the kids have assess to free education, twill be easier to handle them than paying for daycare plus after school hrs. And they are more likely to reason well when they are a bit older.

Am giving myself this Dec to think and put plans down and try and figure the best route to go based on advises too.
I really appreciate this.
Thank you.

Hello Everyone,
So i just got PPR and planning to move in April 2019.
This is my scenario and i think i can make do with advises and suggestions as much as practicable.
I am travelling unaccompanied. Hubby is school in London. And he wont be available for a long time.

1. My plan is to do a soft landing about 1-2weeks with my kids 6yrs and 2yrs. And return home with them(leave them at my parents place).
Then leave finally the later part of next year say Sept or Oct 2019.
Hoping that i can settle properly by a years time say Sept 2020. By which time the little one will be 4 years and can start school for free and the older one will be 8 years and can help around.

2.My brother thinks i should leave in Jan 2019, look for a job and believes i can turn things around quickly, pick them by June 2019(medicals expire in Aug 2019) and that should be it. Then again, the question of handling two kids alone comes to play. Am told child care is very expensive. Am a clinical person and may need to work shifts. How do i manage that?

3. Seniors who have had similar experiences please share. I need to plan well. Planning on landing in Calgary too
Advises are please welcomed
Thank you.

Now I go dig for my passports; only to realise it had my wrong place of birth. Had to look for my birth cert to make a new one. Had an affidavit done and new passport issued. My last baby also needed a passport. I spent all day at the passport office cos this pikin won’t take picha. I was so burned I nearly took her out of the application(I was that frustrated). She eventually took it with the help of her nanny.
I relax my body and continued to gather docs
POF: 100% gift deed from my brother in the UK. I added my own money dou and pushed it all to Stanlin Investments. I showed both my last 6months bank statement, bank letters and investment letters. All very easy to get
Proof of Employment: very easy
PCC: another walk over
I do lasi lasi for here sha. I gathered docs to upload on July 13th only to realise I needed upfront medicals
How did I miss that? My deadline was 25th July 2018.
To make matters worse, hubby is in London and his earliest appt was 6th Aug!!!
See madam sweating!!! Called IRCC severally and couldn’t get through. Wanted to find out if submitting appointment will be enough and then upload the medicals once it’s ready. When I eventually got through agent said I can do that but my application can be considered as incomplete.
No choice but to decline invitation. I was morosed. Was a shadow of my self awaiting next draw. Declined on 18th July and got another ITA on 25th July.
Did medicals on 6th Aug
Hubbys medicals on 10th
Wrote LOE to explain change in passport, POF, Spouse unaccompanying
AOR - 11th Aug
MEP- 13th Sept ( my daughters birthday)
Biometrics submitted -17th Sept
ADR - 18th Oct
Authorization to travel for the kids for my husband. Had 7days to submit. Lawyer disappointed hubby on the last day. It was God who made him get another one without an appointment to notarize them. Uploaded on the 7th day.
ADR- 7th Nov
RPRF. Paid same day
Ghost update - 16th Nov
ADR changed to NA - 27th Nov
Filled a web form to inquire abt application status on 5th Dec as trying to call IRCC proved unsuccessful.
6th Dec- Agent replies that they have made a decision and will communicate in due course
PPR - 7th Dec
Woke up this morning to plenty congratulatory messages on various Cannyland platforms.
I said nothing spoil, make I check my mail too.
Voila..... PPR sitting right there.

My heart is overwhelmed. I have been through some shorty period these past years and God has given me an opportunity to smile again.
It has indeed ended in praise.
Thanks Nairaland. U people are awesome. I chanced on this platform after my AOR though but it is still been super helpful.
May the PPR rain continue for everyone waiting.

But they requested the passports to be sent to India o! I am reading same for all those who got PPR today. Na wa o!

Should we just take to india or request to be brought to Accra

Loads of June applications are stuck in this stage, I guess they've started doing same to some July. 1P1 is completed in Ottawa, IP2 is triggered and carried out in Sydney. File is approved in Sydney and sent to an LVO. Your PPR mail is now sent to you at pace, capacity and discretion of your LVO.

IP2 means sent to Sydney
Ghost update means file approved, probably transferred to LVO.
It's a new trend so we're still trying to understand it.

Go and check out your July AOR group on canadavisa forum to find out if more people are in same situation.
