Yeah, and yet since independence no single SE state is even mentioned among the top 5 economic contributors in Nigeria alone, not to talk of Africa. Doesn't charity begin at home again?? I think what you meant to say is that Nigeria will become the drug-trafficking capital of the world within 5 years. cheesy Sometimes I wonder the kind of egbo some of you smoke before typing. lol
I am Igbo, I disagree with mightyhazell about Igbo leadership, because even if will get Igbo president today he/she will still work with the same old people unless Nigeria is restructured please, but Mr Rockhard, yes SE states may not be among the 5 economic contributors in Nigeria as you said, but that is not the way to measure the contributions made by the Igbos in Nigeria. The Igbos are the only tribe in Nigeria that in reality practice one Nigeria you may disagree with me but that is the truth and nothing but the truth. They are the only people that go in any part of this country called Nigeria help in the development of any area they found themselves no other tribes does that in Nigeria. The Yorubas will come to the SE do business at the end of the day he/she will repatriate their profit back to their respective states likewise the Hausas. Igbos will establish businesses, buy lands and build houses and the Igbos are well endowed with human resources and that is why about 80% of Igbo wealth are outside of the SE. Mr Rockhard, have ever sit down and imagine if just 50% of Igbo's investments in Nigeria go back to SE, just 50%. We as people are to blame for not investing at least 60% of our wealth in our area me included . Igbos have the highest percentage of middle class "ratio of the population" There is a reason for that.

Yes Sam Mbakwe constructed open drainage, the difference was that Mbakwe constructed quality because go to Owerri today, the drainage and the streets are still in use, unlike Rochas with his substandard constructions, some of the so called roads and covered drainage are falling like a house of cards. A country with only two major cities Nairobi 3.3 million and Mombasa 1.2 million with the population of 47.7 million and the third city with only 290,000. The pictures of city of Nairobi may look good to you but that doesn't make Kenya ahead. Kenya has only three Airports Nigeria 28, Kenya may be bigger in tourism but please Kenya is below Nigeria feet .

PoliticsRe: Soldiers Didn't Kill Abducted Pastor In Rivers State, Here's What Happened -Army by adimsmt: 4:19pm On Nov 22, 2016
ChangeIsCostant:
The Nigerian Army has released a press statement to deny a report that soldiers killed an abducted pastor after labeling him a militant. Read the full details below;

The attention of the Nigerian Army has been drawn to a publication on Premium Times website titled “INVESTIGATION: How Nigerian Army ‘killed’ kidnapped pastor and labelled him militant”.

Ordinarily one would not have bothered to respond to that obvious mischief, but for the erroneous impression being created by the so-called “investigative” report in the minds of well meaning Nigerians.

This report just like several others by the medium, were part of systematic and sustained efforts aimed at denigrating the Nigerian Army and tarnish its image.

The Nigerian Army did not kill the pastor as alleged, rather, he was killed by his captors who realized that troops were closing on them during precursor to Exercise CROCODILE SMILE. It is therefore very mischievous for anyone to ascribe his death to the troops.

The Nigerian Army is a thorough professional organization with clearly stipulated rules of engagement which is being followed to the letter in any given operation or exercise.

For the avoidance of doubt, based on information received, a raid was carried out on a suspected militant camp in Mbelekuru Creek, Ogbogoro Community of Obiakpor Local Government Area of Rivers State on 26th August 2016. During the raid, 5 suspected militants were killed, 23 of them were arrested and 11 Pump Action Rifles, 2 AK-47 Rifles, 1 Locally Made Revolver Pistol, 292 Cartridges, 99 Rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, 1 AK-47 magazine loaded with 28 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, 3 Power generating sets, 1 camp Gas cooker, 2 shovels, 3 Cutlasses, 1 rain boat, 1 hand bag containing 2 mobile telephone handsets, 1 wristwatch, a photograph, 11 mobile telephone handsets, 3 INEC voters cards, 2 SIM cards and 1 memory card were recovered.

It is therefore unimaginable for the troops to kill an innocent person.

A day after, press release was issued to this effect. Days later, a female serving Nigerian Air Force officer reported that her relative whom she identified as Mr. Andrew Anthony, a pastor of a church was killed during the raid and that he was not a militant.

Contrary to insinuations by the medium, other family members confirmed that they never reported the kidnapping of Mr. Andrew to the police. Rather, they were negotiating with the kidnappers on their own without recourse to any security agency before the raid on the militants camp.

The Nigerian Army did not release the photograph of the victim nor referred to him as a militant.

The Headquarters 2 Brigade Nigerian Army also supported the family by linking them up with youth leaders that assisted in identifying and retrieving the corpse of the late pastor.

The attempt to portray the Nigerian Army in bad light by labelling it killer of a pastor and manipulation of information by the Premium Times is totally unacceptable.

The public is therefore enjoined to disregard the publication in its entirety as it is an attempt to blackmail the Nigerian Army and destroy its hard earned reputation, more so as further investigation has been directed by the Chief of Army Staff on the issue.

You are please requested to disseminate this information to the public through your medium.

Thank you for your kind cooperation.

Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman
Acting Director Army Public Relations

The problem is that we don't have forensic Lib, if there was an adequate investigations i'm sure they might have found one or two bullet in the man's body that will be tested for the ballistic finger print of the bullet, that would have determined the gun that kill this man.

As shared by Akpoti.....

'Queen needs your help!!!

Last night I, like many were disturbed about the news of a young lad burnt to death for attempting to steal garri. The images haunted my sleep. Not only because of the gruesome murder of a human being bitten hard by poverty, but because of those human beings that carried the act and worse off, those who stood by capturing his death with their phones.

This morning on my to the Singaporean embassy in Lagos, I saw besides the gates of Eko hotel, a lady laying on the floor and everyone (black and white) walked past her like she didn't exist . I picked up my phone and took this picture (below) with the hope that I could share a lesson of poverty with you all.

At the embassy, I couldn't get her image off my head. I felt even ashamed to have taken only the picture without stopping to hear her story.

Immediately I stepped out of the embassy, I drove right back to her. Woke her up and this is what she said in fluent English.
My name is Queen Okoye. I am 31 years old and a graduate of YabaTech. I am from Orsu LGA in Imo state (she paused to spell Orsu for me). Her father is Mr. Basil a Okoye. Mother is late. She lived with her boyfriend whilst in school. Their relationship fell apart and he kicked her out of his apartment. She has lived on the streets for years because her sister (married with children ) refused to assist her.

I asked if she was on drugs and alcohol, but she said no. I noticed she smiled a little too much but always added "I am happy a beautiful lady like you acknowledged me. People walk by me everyday like I don't exist ". This broke my heart.

So I asked permission to take a picture and share her story with you good people. She asked " will they help or laugh at me. People call me crazy" . I told her the God that made me see her will make others connect to her.

I also asked if she had any message for you all . She looked at me and said " tell them I need help to get out of the streets. It all started like a joke and now I can't believe how low I have fallen. I might need some counseling and medical attention because being out here changes one drastically. I need a place to sleep and a job to fend for myself . Please "

Beloved Nigerians, in our heart lies the power to do good and evil. I understand hunger's pain. I know exactly the danger poverty sting's delves to ones psych. At this trying times, let's be sure to Chanel our frustration to the right persons and not the vulnerable like us.

Today, I had an option to be like everyone and walk past Queen but I decided to be better. Everyone of us can attempt a little kindness and love to each homeless person; or anyone about to be lynched by a crowd. A little effort goes a long way.

Queen stays in front of Eko hotel's fence. She is waiting for someone to read this and reach out to her. So if you work in Lagos state welfare department or know any agency in charge of women, pls get to Queen. Let's all share a little kindness because it would all come back to us.

Queen needs you'

Please i don't want to chastise this young lady neither do i want to dismiss what she is going through no, i have seen worst and we all can be in her shoe just like that. Honestly, unless this young lady was suffering from mental illness before her boyfriend left her then I'll understand, but for her to tell me she has no choice other than to live on the street of Lagos that i can not take and will not understand. She has alternatives not to live on the street, Why not go back to her village even if her father's house is shake at least she can still have a roof over her head. Look this lady is not disabled to an extent that she can not farm, the quest to live in Lagos and get white collar job have clouded so many that they forget what to do when there is no jobs. Please this lady should go back to the east no matter what, there is no place like home.

Disgraced Nigeria U-19 stranded after Angry NFF dumps them, pays them 5000 Naira only

Several Nigeria U19 players were stranded in Abuja on return from the Suwon International Tournament in South Korea after they were each paid five thousand Naira as transport fare back to their bases by the NFF who according to sources said NFF officials were angry with the players for disgracing the entire Football loving Nigerians and the country.
Nigeria lost all their three matches (8-1 to England, 1-0 to Iran and 3-0 to hosts Korea) to finish rock bottom of the competition.

Team officials received 10,000 Naira with head coach Manu Garba paid double that amount. The tournament organizers paid the NFF an appearance fee besides paying for their flight tickets and boarding in Korea.

The Nigeria U19s, made up by the core of the U17s who failed to qualify for next year’s U17 AFCON in Madagascar, posted a dismal outing at the invitational Suwon tourney.
