iamexcelblog: So filling station is now an MOU? So Fuel station has VIP section now? I will come to buy fuel and enter VIP? For what kwanu?
Why do we like celebrating mediocrity down east and down south? You people don't really know what is capital projects!
Before you call me an Afonja, go thorough my posts and threads.
What happened to new factories? What happened to new bridges? New state schools? Upgrading previous ones? What happened to having street lights all over Anambra? What happened to dualizing Onitsha ways? What happened to buying transformers for villages without lights? What happened to new fly overs? What happened to more erosion control projects? What happened to building functional clinics inside villages that lack access to hospitals in towns and cities? What happened to seed and fertilizer grants to farmers? What happened to intensive scholarships to bright students? What happened to building intra city railways from Awka to Onitsha then to Nnewi? What happened to siting state owned poultry projects in different parts of Anambra? What happened to constructing new roads? What happened to maintaining existing ones? What happened to new markets? What happened What happened? What happened!! What happened!!!
I am not from Anambra, and I always chastised our people for celebrating mediocrity, but this project is not. Please stop the unnecessary criticisms, this kind of laudable project is what we are craving in ala Igbo and has to be commended. I understands your frustrations about not seeing more new roads, hospitals and factories etc from our government, but you should understand that the projects you mentioned, for them to thrives they need the supporting infrastructures and this project is one of them. The project is a well thought out and well executed that can be comparable to any of its kind in any part of the world.
discusant: I think the REAL HATERS are those who applaud the Imo state governor that collects federal allocations meant to develop 27 lgas of his state, but the governor destroys what already exists in the state capital and uses nearly 95% of those local govts allocations to build his own style in the state capital.
Meanwhile, the rest of Imo state decays; the REAL HATERS are not interested over the decadence in the rest of Imo state.
agaba77: Abagworo please ignore the haters and keep up updated on the developmental programmes of our governor. Btw they with the nonsobaba moniker is not nwafor igbo rather an afonja pretending to be igbo so he can create igbo v igbo conflict. Ignore him.
Who is hater or what is afonja whatever that mean and I am nwa Igbo/Imo state/Orlu Zone/Njaba LGA do you want me to name my home town too?
diablos: Dollar exchange rate is to be blamed bro...cuz when u have exchange rate fluctuating like ur president's health...it leaves much to be expected.
The cost of doing business in Nigeria is high compare to Kenya.
AbakalikiPress: I curse the very day I was born Igbo Come to think of it, we are very active in every bad thing for this Nigeria. Why can't my people just be honest and genuinely hardworking for once?
I am an Igbo and a proud Igbo, in my next life if there is something like that i will be more proud to be born Igbo again and again. Just because crimes by Igbos are more likely to make headline news in our country, that does not make majority of us criminals, and there is no ethnicity or country in the world that is immune to crime. American prison population is roughly 2.3 million people are locked up in prison or jail, that is equivalent of the population of Aba. If you truly an Igbo shame on you.
Nigerian government and there backward thinking, why are this government bent on destroying the country with easy to solve problem. Its not done anywhere in the world where government will take individual properties and hand them over to private individual businesses for what,? Ranching is the solution this is a private businesses let them go and acquire land with their own money and ranch their cows that what sane people do. The government of federal republic of Nigeria are proving Nnamdi Kanu right.
Abagworo: But there's nothing in this video that makes it better. Maybe you think Nigerian estates don't come with pavements and flowers. Angola is still learning.
Of course Angola is still learning no doubt about that but they are doing better job than we are if they have the amount we have, with the quality of job in terms of infrastructures they will be ahead of us we may disagree about that but let leave it at that, and i never said Nigerian estates don't have flowers. As for the video, for the look of it you fail to understand the reason i put the video for you to watch. Look i want you to see how our government can transform the old Owerri by providing the necessary infrastructures like sewage, underground drains, water and sidewalks, that is what the video shows its not an estate but old dilapidated area they reconstructed with the necessary infrastructures. You made mention of building new cities of which i agreed with you but we can also do some justice to our old areas of our cities. You may be wondering why Angola of all place, I want you to go to skyscrapercity.com and see the magnitude and quality infrastructural projects across the country and i respect them for that because of the qualities of the projects. I live in America, but the last thing i do is compare America with Nigeria, I use Angola because they are an African country and they are trying in recent times.
Abagworo: Well what you wrote is applicable to everywhere in Nigeria and somehow I believe that to achieve this we need to build cities from the scratch like Amaechi did in Greater Port Harcourt city and monorail which most people have condemned as waste.
Yes we need new cities but we also need to stop what we are doing now just look at the pictures of the estates you uploaded they are nice and beautiful architectures but the finishing are not suppose to be like that if we want good cities that are comparable to other good cities of the world we have to start from somewhere. The reason i used Angola as an example was because there are things they are doing right in terms of infrastructures and old part of Owerri can be rehabilitate to look like new city if the government of Imo state can find the will. Watch this video its in Portuguese but you will understand not that i am comparing Angola with Nigeria but this is what they are doing right as i said. This was an old area they rehabilitated our government can take a leaf from them i don't see any wrong in it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mdrafsw8PXc
Abagworo: Owerri is generally finer than Luanda when you add up all the shanties where majority of Luanda residents dwell. Angola is too small and useless to bring into any Nigerian discussion. If you had mentioned Capetown I would have considered you sane enough.
Watch this video of Luanda and tell me if this is even as good as 3000 BC.
Sometimes it baffles me how some people fail to see the bigger picture here, Angola may be garbage dump for all i care but that is not what this is all about. Yes Angola is beneath Nigeria but haven't say that, that does not minimize their effort in recent times with the kind of legacy projects they have embark on and those projects are what I'm talking about here. Some people here don't want to be compared with Angola, someone want Capetown but my take is this, if you want to be compared with Capetown we have to do it like it was done in Capetown, you cannot plant orange and expect an apple, at some point may be sixty year ago i don't know but Capetown stopped using 14th century technology and start doing big things. They will not be where they are today by businesses as usual. Owerri will not be like Capetown if they don't start building sewage system that conform to world standard not soakaways, drainage system not open drain, water treatment plants not boreholes and not overhead water tanks, good roads not substandard that flood will wash away in less than two/three years, electricity not darkness and a well planed cities not half bake estates. My people let cast our net far and wild take risks in expending our vision not doing the same things over and over and expecting different outcome. Whatever that worth doing is worth doing well.
Abagworo: This is ugly and unkempt. Moreover get your useless Angola out of this thread. A useless country shouldn't be brought in to Nigerian discussion. We have no value for your useless country.
My honorable cheerleader of mediocrity, I'm not from Angola but Imo born and I'm proud to be (AN IGBO MAN). Angola may be ugly and unkempt by the people, but they are taking bold steps to catch up with the rest of the world by doing big projects to change the face of their cities not like your Okorocha who are littering Imo state with substandard projects. My brother the world has move on from the mindset like yours. This is 21st century not 14th century.
Abagworo: That's what the Imo State Government has done but surely there is no underground sewage and electricity is not state managed. Let us just watch things unfold and I will still display them here. Already there are such estates but very tiny ones scattered across Nigeria but none is like Kilamba. Even Dubai is not like Kilamba. In Owerri Okorocha built Heroes apartments and there exists a lot of other model private estates like Lescourt estate, Arugo garden estate, Graceland estate etc.
Just look at those estates they are with 15th century technology soakaway and open drainage systems and overhead water tanks. If we want to have world class cities we have to do things that conform to world standard this is 21st century we can't continue doing things backwards. Now you compare with this not the architectures but the finishing and environment you see how it is inviting and this is Angola not some place in Phoenix.
Abagworo: Give me an example of such place in Nigeria. The one in Angola you posted earlier known as Kilamba has ended up empty and a monumental financial waste. The types we have in Owerri, PH and Lekki are good enough.
Sir because you are not well informed about Kilamba may be you read the 2012 BBC report. If it was a monumental financial waste as you put it why are they still expending the projects and still constructing in different part of Angola with the same concept in building mass housing. And again you should understand that Angola is not Nigeria in terms of viability. If the Imo state government want individuals to buy land and develop, first they need to build the necessary world standard infrastructures like good road network, electricity, water, sewage and under ground drainage systems all this has to be in place before the start building and also they have to established a strong monitoring committees that will supervise to last order of specification.
Abagworo: It has already been done. An area has been mapped out with building designs and land given free to whoever can build to specification. I will look for the video and post here.
Look i want where the investor or investors will build a turn key city where people and companies buy into it, allowing individuals to buy land is one thing we don't do well no matter the specification. What i'm talking is a well constructed city with good infrastructures like water, underground electricity, sewage and drainage system, a well planed streets and roads not all the mediocre projects.
Afriifa: Freedom is not for greedy people. by the way are you talking about South-south Oils or South eastern Oils?
Sir I'm not talking about south south, i know you are trying to be sarcastic but its okay. But let you know that the federal government of Nigeria sale oil from oil fields in Imo and Abia states no matter the quantity. Just let you know also, no amount of insult will solve the division in our country right now, greedy people as you called the Igbos is your opinion and your opinion doesn't remove any pint of blood from us and please read the chart and you tell me who the greedy people are.

Truth be told Nigeria has dealt with the Igbos in so many ways but the have survive it all because of their resilience and hard work. Before the war Nigeria as country knows the Igbos was in the helm of things and it give them a lot of nightmares that was why they gave them twenty pounds but they survived in flying colors. As an Igbo man, Biafra issue I'm not in support and I'm also not against it, for me Biafra will be the last resort all we want is a level playing field a country where competitions are the order of the day. We can archive that through regional autonomy where every region will control their resources and develop on their own pace.
winkmart: The Fleet Commander, Western Naval Command, Apapa, Lagos State, Rear Admiral Daniel Ikoli, has allegedly shot himself dead in his residence in the Apapa area.
It was learnt that a service pistol, expended and live ammunition, were recovered at the scene by police detectives who visited the residence.
It was gathered that he lived with his house boy. His wife stays in Abuja, while his children are schooling abroad.
PUNCH Metro gathered that the commander, a member of the presidential committee investigating the $15bn arms deal, left his office on Tuesday around 1pm, on the grounds that he was ill.
Around 5am on Wednesday, the house boy reportedly heard a gunshot from his room. On getting to the spot, he found him dead and raised the alarm.
A source close to Okoli disclosed to our correspondent that he had been managing depression and an ailment for some time, adding that it was not impossible that he committed suicide.
The source, however, did not disclose the nature of the ailment.
He said, “He was Commander, Nigerian Navy Ship BEECROFT, and was later appointed into the presidential committee that probed the arms deal. He was very lively and intelligent. “But for some time now, he had been battling an illness and had lost weight. He had also become reserved lately, which was unlike him. He usually complained about the high dollar rate and unavailability of foreign exchange because he had children studying abroad. “He left the office on Tuesday afternoon after complaining that he was not feeling fine. I was shocked this morning when I learnt he shot himself.”
Another source stated that bullets hit Okoli on the chest and he bled to death, adding that three expended bullets were found in his apartment. He said, “The house boy said he heard a gunshot and was alarmed. He later went into Okoli’s room and found him in a pool of blood. His wife is in Abuja and his children school abroad. His aides usually leave after taking him home from office. “Three bullets were seen in the room. No one can really tell what happened. “He was a nice and intelligent officer. He was the one who spearheaded the renovations of BEECROFT when he was the commander.”
However, an officer, who claimed to have worked with the commander, said he usually expressed worries about the possibility of assassins going after him as a result of his membership of the presidential committee.
A competent source disclosed to PUNCH Metro that 17 rounds of 9mm live ammunition and three expended shells were recovered at the scene.
“A CZ 999 Scorpion Pistol, B/no. 17111 was also found. No suicide note was found. His corpse has been deposited in the Nigeria Navy Reference Hospital,” the source added.
The spokesperson for the Western Naval Command, Lieutenant Commander Chinwe Umar, said in a statement tagged, ‘Domestic Accident Involving a Naval Officer,’ that the cause of Ikoli’s death had yet to be known, adding that the police had commenced investigation into the case.
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Olarinde Famous-Cole, said investigation had commenced, adding that the deceased had been deposited in a mortuary for autopsy.
Afriifa: I will only take Biafra serious when their leaders start snubbing the Nigerian state and its benefits,
if you want Biafra, Stop all your politicians from participating in the Nigerian state.
Then you will earn my respect forever if not all this one na IGG.
Initial Gra Gra
You are so ignorant it does't work that way. If i may ask you if Biafran leaders start snubbing the Nigerian state and its benefits as you said will Nigerian state stop collecting money from the sale of oil and taxes from Biafrans?
JamieBlog: Nollywood Actor, Alex Ekubo maturely throws shades at "THE GIANT OF AFRICA" for their inadequate supply of electricity.
He has been in cameroun for a new film he's acting in, and he commended them.
He wrote; So i've been filming in Cameroon for the past 5 days & its been uninterrupted power supply, meanwhile we say we are the Giant of Africa, Big Name wey dey kill small dog.
Yes he is right, the problem with we Nigerians are not understanding/accepting that many African countries has surpass Nigeria in so many aspect of developmental strive. Many African countries are doing big things with little. Truth be told Nigeria are lagging behind in so many things. Call it shade but somethings truth they say is painful.
Moreoffaith: Abeg make dem share the rice give us chop abeg...rice cost for market now
Agreed with you but to share it, it has to be shared among his constituencies orlu senatorial district of Imo state. I didn't know i have thief as a senator and i wish he go to jail for it . My people is it not time the thief is recalled.
chiomababy22: I had a child 8 years ago. Ever since then, having a long lasting relationship is a big problem because they leave me with the excuse of my child been an issue. My last relationship has left me shattered and the last thing i want to do is deny my baby. Am confused pls friends what do you advise i do? Am not getting any younger. Thanks as i await you comments.
Never in your life will you compromise the relationship you have with your child for anything, instead you make your child the most valuable relationship ever. I don't know the circumstance the child came about, but believe me it does not matter my dear everything happen for a purpose. Any man who because of an innocent eight years old who is a gift from God decide not to be in relationship with you don't deserve you in the first place. As a man if you can't accept me the way i am likewise you if man can't accept you the way you are why waste your time. Please you understand that sometimes this so called relationships are over rated, So my honest advice will be build the pillars of your relationships around your child, make sure you are good person, work hard in being a strong and independent woman God will guide you and your time will definitely come.
Abagworo: Okorocha inspecting construction of underground drainage at Amakohia town for flood control.
I commend Okorocha on this one, this is how it suppose to be. I wish it will be the norm all around the state and let him make a law that will outlaw open drainage unless when necessary.
Abagworo: Flat roofed buildings don't survive our rainy climate in the South. Many flat buildings have been roofed after a few years and one of such is Rochas Okorocha's own office at Owerri. As for the green roofs and golden brown colour for Government buildings it's nothing but a colour he and his team agreed on to distinguish their projects. He was asked that question once and I watched the interview. Carefully observe all the public buildings and notice what I wrote. This includes schools and more.
Yes climate sometimes determine the type of roofs use in particular regions, but the problem we have the most are bad architectures. There is so many ways of designing flat roof that will stand any weather condition. Just look at the building below.
Please can people around Okorocha advice him that good architectural buildings don't cost much. Why is he bent on littering Imo state with ugly substandard looking buildings. Just imagine how Owerri will look like if Okorocha's building projects look something like the picture below.
Horus: An African business summit should be organised in Africa, not in the US
I'll support that if it was Africans that are organizing it.
Each year, the University of Southern California brings delegations from Africa to meet with business leaders, government officials and others in the U.S.
Coming from a tribal warlord who runs around with the ignorant mentality that only his tribe practice one Nigeria when in fact all you do is spew hatred, tribal rubbish and bigotry all over the place just like the above-highlighted quote.
Funny how your tribal sense concluded that Fashola is incompetent when in fact he's he's achieved more in less than 2 years than the useless ones you call heroes including all their abandoned projects.
Again, you are dismissed.
Some people with short memory you are the one who used the words inaction, incompetence, corruption to describe what is going on concerning the housing projects Fashola was constructing, you are the one that also used the words hate, tribalism and bigotry to quote me on one of my reply i gave of which you did not read. One of my Igbo brother who didn't like that a hausa man was contesting an election in Ebonyi state and the point i was making was that we Igbos practice one Nigeria than any other tribe and that when other tribes want to do the same in our land that it has to be encouraged by us and i standing by what i said because the truth is bitter. Yes Igbos are agitating but truth be told they practice the fundamental characteristics of one Nigeria. The Igbos are the only tribe in Nigeria that are not afraid to invest and develop any area in Nigeria, one Nigeria is not just by mouth. Calling Jesus Jesus can never take you to haven but by doing what Jesus command us to do. Calling me a tribal warlord because i was encouraging my people to support a hausa who is contesting an election in Igbo land I'll proudly wear that name as a badge of honor.
deomello: What rubbish are you spewing? Fashola is a federal minister with stated budget to carry out his duties strictly based on available at his disposal so what baseless and unintelligent rant about me supporting corruption are you talking about?
Please stick to the argument and stop spewing rubbish or just keep quiet if you have nothing better to talk about?
And saying Fashola lost his mojo was was reflection of your own ignorance because his current responsibilities and variable funds as a federal minister is not the same like what he operated with in Lagos which is obviously common sense.
Based on the highlight, I now see what's driving your baseless and pointless rants. I don't go back and forth with your type since everything your type spew is always based on hate tribalism and bigotry.
You are dismissed.
Oh i have touched your nerves, I'm sorry the truth is always bitter.
Hate, tribalism and bigotry that was your words, you think you are describing me no i can't say that is who you are but there is the saying by their fruits you shall know them. Anyone who criticize the government is always tribal bigot.
deomello: 1. Even though the article says 76 units, but we know the this is just in 1 location and the government is constructing many more in other states so your argument was still off base.
2. Yes, we have housing deficits and there's been many decades of inaction by the government, but we both know due to inaction, incompetence and corruption, there's not enough funds to build on the scale you are talking about unless they borrow billions from China or elsewhere to build affordable houses like they did in Angola
3. Fashola as a public official performed admirably in Lagos state when it comes to housing estates, but he has little leeway and meager resources to do what you are suggesting.
Thank God at least you are getting some of my points, but as you said due to inaction, incompetence and corruption that are the reasons why we are where we are i agree with you. But you will also agree with me that inaction, incompetence, and corruption can't be attributed to the government alone, corruption is not just when someone steals money. Corruption is also when citizens like you continued to be the great defender, cheerleader of inaction and mediocrity, that in itself is bigger corruption. When you defend the indefensible corrupted system you became an enabler of a corrupt system and an enabler is equally a corrupt person. Fashola did well in Lagos no doubt about that but you will agree with me that whatever worth doing is worth doing well no matter the cost. As i said before, If going by what they just finished in Imo state I'll say Fashola has lost his mojo.
