Koeman is the man to lead us to the promise land. I was saying this back in the days of Valverde but the Barca board were too dumb. Tactically and mentality wise,we were extremely poor but man has given us a new purpose. It's going to take some tough decisions and some axe to be gored to certain players, but it's a step in the right direction for the club.
This is one of the most complete performances I have seen in recent years. I have never been more impressed by a performance since our 1-0 win over Madrid two seasons ago.
Individually,we are breathing confidence. Coutinho was playing like he was in his Liverpool days. Ansu is getting much better. Collectively,we were working tirelessly and creating chances even with a man down.
Look at the yellow cards we got even with 2 goals up at the dying minutes. It means the players were committed to keeping a clean sheet. Before,we would've conceded defeat even before the ball was kicked. Bayern and Liverpool are two games we lost even before playing
Early days but it's already looking promising |

jpmoriarti: Is it the Bartomeu and the board that are playing tonight or the same players bar Coutinho who were squashed by Bayern??
Players are underperforming and they need to step up. Simple! Messi criticisms of the board is useless if the players continues to underperform. Problem is that we are mentally weak and that's thanks to having the same group of players playing together for a decade while dealing with different managements within the same period Nothing can be done if they don't leave. Thankfully a couple of them have left but that backline is still our problem and that can't honestly be fixed within this transfer window so we should expect little improvements this season |

If Chris was inches close to getting the tackle right, then maybe Robinson isn't a jet. No way that guy wasn't putting that ball away. No defender would've stopped that goal from happening |

Almajirihunter: Maybe Werner can be our Firmino but that would mean sacrificing his goal boots sadly,it’s really confusing rn because he’ll always drift to the LW. It’s sad because Pulisic is a better LW than him and Tammy is a better point man so he’s typically sitting on the fence here,I’ll love to see a midfield of Kova,Mount and Havertz against inferior teams because a midfield of Kante and Kova would give you all the recycling but nothing going forward sadly and it’s about the goals......how I wish we still had Matic in this side Ziyech will not give Salah numbers so Chelsea can't play like Liverpool. They need to play more like Everton who have a target man in DCL and have the likes of Richarlison,Docoure and Alan doing all that running just to give more freedom for James to operate. Chelsea needs to play like that. They don't need a matic type of Midfielder to play against lesser team. Kante or Kova can do that work. All they need Lampard needs to be more fluid with his formations if he's going to perform with this team. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by Adiwana: 1:35pm On Sep 27, 2020 |
My thoughts on Lampard and what he needs to do to get things right
A target man would be really needed. Werner is not a target man and I honestly don't see how Werner fits into this Chelsea side when Pulisic and Ziyech do come back into the team.
Havertz and Mount can not play together. They have the same similarities that cancel out each other which means both players will always do the same work on the field. Mount is not a gifted player and is highly limited technically. Combined with the fee paid for Kai,he unfortunately has to sit out.
Havertz needs to be given a free role like James at Everton if he's to he utilized properly. Kovacic/Kante should be doing all the hard and dirty work while he gets the glory by picking up cherry passes
A Kovacic/Kante midfield base won't actually work tbf. There are little to no progression of the ball from defense to attack so one has to play as Box-to-box midfielder. Kante is limited going forward but has the work rate doing that job. While Kova doesnt have that work rate,he can draw in the fouls and move the ball forward
Lampard needs a new defensive coach. While the players needed are there, there still some soul missing. They just need better coaching in that part of the field IMHO
That's my in take |

Even the Barnsley game there were moments tomori missed a tackle and thiago just came to his rescue .I trust tomori to have dealt properly such blunder from Silva . You guys are just looking for who to blame and worse still not blaming the right people. The Robinson guy had pace. It's not like he walked the ball into the net. Comparing a player missing a tackle and his partner covering for him is way different than causally passing a ball to a player who was under little to no pressure losing the ball in such delicate position. Silva cost Chelsea the second goal, simple. |

We created good chances from these same tactics.

I am confused here Honestly, the blame is just stupid. Chelsea conceded the 3 goals all from individual mistakes and not some tactics or selections |

hensben: Lampard selection was bad bro, mostly in that midfield, there was no need for kova Kante pairing against west Brom. His selection is hiding Warner’s talent and goal scoring prowess. He played two attacking midfielders and two strikers and unlike before, both Havertz and Mount weren't playing as wingers in the game. They played more centrally and had more involvement in the game unlike the first two matches. James and Alonso were meant to be wingbacks in the game to provide the necessary width with Kovacic and Kante slotting in the midfield to keep the game very simple. James did his job and provided 3 clean chances for both strikers while Alonso was very poor in the game Chelsea were playing a very clean game, finding pockets of spaces until those those lapse in concentrations. Even Kovacic was having a good game but was needed to be removed for more attacking presence in the person of CHO |

hensben: His selection was not spot on mr. I mean why start kova Kante together against west Brom, why play warner in 4231 formation. Why pair weak Christensen with old sylva, you have Zouma who can cover well for sylva in terms of speed and strength. Lampard experiment too much. His sentimental mind is affecting his selection and tactics. Please I would like to know their ideal formation for the game |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by Adiwana: 9:10am On Sep 27, 2020 |
swiz123: I wonder why Lampard left Zouma and Chillwell out of the squad. Actions like that deserves to be explained. Chelsea's problem has always been a goalie, centre back and left back. So, any selection that leaves those positions weak must beg a lot of questions.
Caballero is just a clown; criticising him is just a waste of energy.
Thiago Silva made a costly error. I don't want to criticize Christensen for not covering him up, but a fast Zouma would have got the sliding tackle spot on. He saved Christensen's blushes with a last ditch tackle against Palace last season when the former made a costly error. Even Tomori might have salvaged the situation.
Fact is, Silva needs to be paired with a fast and aggressive centre back which Zouma is just like he had Presnel Kimbempe at PSG.
Lastly, the choice of fielding Abraham because he scored and assisted against Barnsley. If tactics is anything to go by, ask yourself this: Playing against the baggies who you know would lie very deep, whom would you choose between Giroud and Abraham to have a greater impact? My money is on Giroud because that is one of his strengths. His aerial strength gives him an advantage in this kind of matches, and his link up play would have been helpful. I don't know how some of you watch games. Thiago made a mistake and somehow Christensen gets the blame because "he's not fast enough." I don't see you not blaming James for not covering for Alonso's mistake for the first goal. It's one thing you don't like a player but some criticisms are just stupid to say the least. Christensen had a good game and paired very well with Thiago in the whole game. Apart from the mistake from Thiago which somehow Christensen gets blamed for, both of them looked organized and played well alongside each other And for your last point, the selection of Abraham was not out of place. He made decent runs and created spaces in the first half. Even missed two well created chances in the first half. I don't know how anybody that watched that game will blame the loss on Frank's selections. Alonso was the only Chelsea player that had a bad game and was culpable of two goals and that was it |

hensben: I watched the match. Lampard approach to game is rubbing on our results and the way the team play. Don’t be surprise Kepa is not that bad but his consistent changing of CB partners is a weakness to any goalkeeper. See how Arteta organize arsenal to play, he already has his winning team and tactics and he is building on that. All three goals were individual mistakes and not tactical errors. He's selections was spot on for the game and he made effective changes at the right times to salvage a point. I am critical of Lampard and his selections and tactics but to blame him for yesterday is really ridiculous |

Kepa was doing great till that blunder. He's distribution in the first half was very good but I guess it takes one blunder like that to erase everything
Chelsea were doing great until that red card. That changed the tone of the game. Klopp was wise bringing in Thiago at the begining of the 2nd half. That allowed Thiago dictate the tempo of the game thereby giving Mane the opportunity to run rings around that defense.
Lampard is too stubborn to change and I don't see the reason why he's actually throwing in Werner and especially Harvetz straight into the team. This move will greatly affect Harvetz's confidence.
Chelsea clearly needs a targets man for the main time and I don't know why Lampard doesn't see it. A Werner,Giroud/Abraham,Cho with Harvetz sitting behind them roaming freely is clearly the right formation until all his players come back. Harvetz is doing too much work tracking back and that is affecting his output going forward. Mount is being limited playing as a winter and he can't put anything positive doing that.
Lampard needs to opt out of this useless formation he's playing. I saw him repeat the same mistake last week and he paid for it against Liverpool today. He should sit up if he wants to continue in this job. |

For the fact that Ike Ekweremmadu is nursing the Ambition to contest which I can't authoritatively say,and having won Sullivan in PDP primaries in 2015 When Sullivan as a sitting governor wanted to displace Ike who was the Deputy Senate president then because both came from same Senatorial zone. But Ekweremmadu taught him politics 101 and since then Sullivan has been looking for a means to avenge the humiliation. Chima who is the head of Ebeano family and a Senator from Enugu East Senatorial Zone ,the zone based on arrangement should produce the next governor of the state after Ugwuanyi who is from Enugu North zone. The Zoning formulae in Enugu should have gone round to the three Senatorial zones after Ugwuanyi who is the sitting governor and zoning can start again from anywhere or be quashed . Versatility comes in where you have fully integrated into the team and to some extent understand how it is and know what you expect.
Your strenght is your original and most preffered position.
We al know havertz is a good player
Being a beast in premier league is something nwe hope for.
Increasing his fees, castigating him even outa his real position is over reacting.
But what do i know...Scummies are SCUMMIES Lampard was the cause of what happened yesterday. He seemed like he was experimenting and if not for his team's timely goals, the result could have gone sideways for him. It was no coincidence that Mount,Harvetz and Rlc struggled in the game. All 3 were playing out of positions with Rlc playing at times as SS. The formations were not fluid and no point were the 3 guys switching positions. Chelsea would've played much better if the 3 guys were switching positions since it was clear they were all struggling playing the way they were. |

bankylan: Nigeria does not need 200,000MW......Population is not the main factor, though it is a variable, load demand is what determines the required MW to be dispatched. Today we have installed capacity of 13,000 MW and we can only wheel about 6,000 MW. The implication is that we are making CAPACITY PAYMENTS to Gencos as eshrined in the PPAs we signed with them because we can't make use of their full capacity which to them is huge financial investments tied down. People who don't know about the power industry talk about population as a determinant of the needed megawatt, but power engineers and those who are real professionals in the industry don't think this way. What is our load demand as a nation? We just need like 25,000MW now and we will be okay as we don't really have many heavy duty industries besides the fact that our wheeling and distribution capacity can't even cope with the 6000 MW we hover around now. Yeah. Everything is all about load and not necessarily population |

It is because 'Nigerians are poor'' that we have poor power supply.
You cannot buy a Ferrari at the price of a bicycle
I'm sorry, but power is a business. And businesses make money. They aren't charities.
Because if they don't make money, how then are we going to improve power.?
Good evening. You simply stop providing the services. It's as simple as that. Now before you come at me with the whole it's not easy to do,bypass will still exist, etc, mind you that the current problem will still exist even if the electricity is provided 24/7. it's the job of the govt to slap defaulters with fines and take measures to prevent such things from happening. That is why these companies pay tax to the govt to make sure their interest are protected. If people bypass and don't pay then the fault lies at the feet of the govt for not protecting these companies. Now,if we're to pay higher for electricity, the question is who will pay?? It's not even a question of whether Nigerians are poor or not cause people just won't afford it. Take a look back at our NEPA days and the modern day estimated bill to get a guess of what will happen when such is on ground. Nigerians will gladly pay for electricity if it's provided. Almost every home has generator sets and you can't use one without petrol. It maybe a little different from what is obtainable from normal usage but they'll pay. The gencos who make loses are still in business because of subsidy by the govt. If the govt pulls out and the gencos can't make profit because of bypasses, they will stop generation and these will make the govt enforce these rules on people who don't pay. It's not rocket science |
