Wailers being retired early. Some of your observations noted. But you are always a hypocrite in your approach to criticism. You spoke about Kogi and remained silent about Rivers and Bayelsa.

Reno, you should be balanced in your approach like FFK. Anything and everything about Buhari and APC are bad, while anything and everything about GEJ and PDP are good.

Wailers talk about 100k gap in Okene LGA result for Kogi, but refused to compare it with 700k gap in Obio-Akpor for Rivers.

You talk about Leah, but refused to talk about Chibok Girls.

To put it mildly, you are a confirmed hypocrite
he tried fighting for something pick it from there .you are the hypocrite, useless old Nigerian fool and that’s why you are plugging in political mess .people like you embrace democracy like military rule and if someone is fighting for a cause you would discourage him because you are benefiting from the cup of rice giving you .instead of you to encourage him pick it from from where he’s left out you are totally condemning him .what have you fought for ?you too fight for chibok girls ,complain about rivers then we will unite together to fight our common enemy .stop ranting rubbish .

phyllosilicate:
The All Progressives Congress candidate in the Kogi West senatorial district re-run election, Smart Adeyemi, has defeated Dino Melaye of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ijumu local government.
Both candidates are from the local government.
While Mr Adeyemi is an indigene of Iyara, Dino Melaye is from Aiyetoro, a neighbouring village.
The final result for the local government was announced on Sunday morning.
Mr Adeyemi’s APC polled a total of 11,627 votes while Mr Melaye’s PDP amassed 7,647 votes in the local government, according to the electoral commission, INEC. The candidate of the SDP, Natasha Akpoti, came a distant third with 49 votes.
Ijumu is part of Kogi West senatorial district, the district the candidates seek to represent in the Senate.

Politics / Re: Kogi: Massive Thumbprinting Of Ballot Papers At PDP Candidate’s Polling Unit by adm212144: 1:01am On Nov 17, 2019
yns4real:
A PREMIUM TIMES journalist on Saturday caught a supporter of the Peoples Demcratic Party (PDP) voting multiple times at the polling unit of the opposition party’s candidate, Musa Wada.

Mr Wada voted at Polling Unit 001 in Ward 4, Odu- Ogbeyaga area of Dekina Local Government Area at about 10:15 a.m.

At around 12:30 p.m., the PDP candidate was still around the polling unit observing the exercise alongside his supporters.

Mr Wada, who spoke exclusively with PREMIUM TIMES shortly after casting his vote, had accused ‘APC thugs’ of attempting to snatch ballot boxes.

He said the thugs were repelled by the youth of the community and a handful of security operatives.

However, his unidentified supporter had his thumbprint on over 50 ballot papers as observed by this reporter.

The multiple voting was done on the table of the electoral officers with police and civil defense officers present.

Another supporter who appears to be in his late 40s was also seen hastening the multiple voter and his accomplices up. He told them that they were going to 400.

Earlier before the multiple voting started, this reporter witnessed a party agent who was furious with the INEC Presiding Officer, Samuel Imoukhuede.

Meanwhile, when PREMIUM TIMES approached Mr Imoukhuede, he claimed the agents, who wanted to carry out an “illegal” activity, were angry because he was not co-operating with them.

Asides the electoral fraud, there was shooting at intervals by a man from Mr Wada’s convoy, who was dressed in a suit.

This reporter saw voters and observers running helter skelter when they heard the gunshots.

There are 24 candidates jostling for the number one seat in Lugard House, the Kogi State Government House.

AutoJoshNG:

Instagram sensation, Ismaila Mustapha a.k.a Mompha is famous for his flamboyance and showiness. He is known for showcasing an ostentatious way of life to the awe of thousands of his teeming online followers.

His online activities are mostly the exhibition of luxurious fripperies, huge stacks of cash and a private jet lifestyle.

He is even more popular for posing with expensive and top-of-the-range automobiles.

His unbelievable array of expensive cars would make some Forbes-rated billionaires and international celebrities green with envy.

It is doubtful if Mompha actually owns all the cars he associates himself with online. However, in some of his posts, he admits to the ownership of some of them.

For instance, in February 2018, Mompha announced that he has acquired a brand new 2018 Rolls Royce Wraith. According to him, he paid cash for the car.

In June 2019, Mompha announced that he has purchased a Mclaren 650S. According to him, the over N100 million automobile was a birthday gift to himself.

Also, three weeks ago, the self-acclaimed “Citizen of the Sky” announced that he had acquired a brand new 2020 Rolls Royce Wraith VIII. Only 50 of this luxury on wheels was manufactured.

Two days later, he published a photo of himself in a pose with a Ferrari 488 Spider that he claimed to have purchased. The Ferrari is worth about N90million.

Other cars that he has exhibited online include a 2019 Mercedes Benz G63 AMG, a 2018 Rolls Royce Wraith, a Lamborghini Aventador Roadster, and lots more.

Mompha’s Nemesis

Mompha who was popularly believed to be into currencies exchange business was recently arrested for Internet fraud-related crimes and money laundering.

The arrest of the Mompha was announced by the Economic And Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

According to EFCC, Mompha uses the Bureau De Change business he jointly owned with his siblings as a decoy to launder his proceeds of crime.

Politics / Re: Flooding: We Need Noah's Ark In Lagos, But Who Will Build It? by adm212144: 11:13pm On Oct 19, 2019
uche87:
I used to love the sounds of rainfall during my days in Ibadan, Oyo State where I grew up. I enjoyed how it beats the roof of my house and the windows. The impact of the rains on the streets of Jericho was beautiful. It had a way of washing the streets clean and bathing the green plants and trees that dance to the tune of the accompanying breeze after the exercise. My best periods of rainfall were the weekends. Mostly I would wrap myself under the duvet on my bed, partially close the windows, start watching a movie and simultaneously fiddle with my mobile phone. Luckily for me, the power company would mostly keep the lights on as far as the wind wasn't strong enough to cause much obstruction or damage.

But all these changed when I relocated to Lagos for economic reasons. The rains became unwanted visitors that could either enter your apartment through the door, under the ground or the roof. This is a major challenge that never respected the economic class of residents. The recent October 12 (Saturday) rainfall alone hit the highbrow Island area of Lagos so hard that a young man swam from his house to see his friend who lived close to him. This was caught on camera and the video was uploaded on social media. As usual, Nigerians by nature love humour. We enjoy trivializing all issues, we laugh them off, talk plenty and wait for the next trending issue we would use to while away time. We even commit disasters in the 'hands of God' like He is our project manager that needs no budget to embark on operations; then it happens again and possibly in a more severe fashion. I believe the Lagos State government must be tired of writing fresh press statements in the event of flooding. It could as well repost previous ones and adjust the dates because the circumstances are apparently the same.

Natural disasters are common occurrences across the world, no major city is totally immune to them in recent times. Most developed countries have continued to hold profound conversations about climate change even though a leader like President Donald Trump believes it's a hoax.
We have read about incidents of earthquakes in Asia, typhoons, hurricanes, heat waves, mudslides and torrential rains tearing up major cities and the rural areas. Majority of the environmental conditions affecting Lagos State are easily avoidable. The drainage systems in the city are conspicuously ineffective. You don't need to look too close to realize that they lead nowhere. They are clogged and some 'smart Lagosians' use the gutters as refuse disposal systems in the event of rainfall. When the water can't flow, it finds spaces in the houses of the residents and they start to cry foul. The government in the occurrence of flooding pretends like it's working to allow the issue to die down and then moves on like nothing ever happened. So it happens again in future like a ritual. Commonly, committees whose members might never convene are set up to tackle the challenge.

What if I tell you an apparent 'river' which is big enough to accommodate a baby mermaid or a crocodile has surfaced at the Community Road area of Ago Palace Way where I stay for the past two to three months and everybody is acting as if it's not an anomaly. A large portion of the road was constructed with no drainage facility. This has not only affected movement around the area but has also crippled businesses. Influential figures in Nigeria drive through that road every day and they cover their faces with newspapers seated at the passengers' seat while they leave the challenge of vehicular movement in their hands of their chauffeurs. The incident will never be newsworthy until it claims the lives of people and then everybody becomes sympathetic about the incident all of a sudden.

The challenge of flooding might persist to eternity especially at the Island area of Lagos where the sea is being suppressed to create more lands for human occupation. For example, the Eko Atlantic is recovering thousands of acres of land lost to sea erosion by building on sands dredged from the ocean floor. As at 2014, Lagos had reclaimed 5 million square metres of land from the sea and has built a strong wall to hold off the waters. The truth of the matter is that those areas are volatile and the sea levels have been rising in recent times.

The bitter truth is that 'Lagos isn't working'. Transforming Lagos from a megacity to a smart city like the immediate past governor Akinwunmi Ambode fantasized about is a farce and mirage. Residents regardless of the sizes of their pockets groan and moan about life in the metropolitan city. The roads are so bad that the potholes could abort a woman's pregnancy while commuting. Ridiculously, a busty Lagos socialite, Latasha Ngwube once complained that the dilapidated roads in Lagos left her breasts shaking and almost damaged her bra.
People die on these roads like the ill-fated promising Chartered Accountant, Adewura Bello who was swallowed by a manhole. Much of our productive time is spent in traffic and cars hardly last due to the accumulated effects of bad roads. Major parts of the city are not only dirty, but they also stink. You pay astronomical amounts of money for rents and maximum satisfaction is never guaranteed. You end up in being lost in the paper chase in your quest for comfort till you realize your hairs have become grey, skin wrinkled, the body is weak and your retirement day is close, so you pass the baton to your children to continue from where you stopped.

Majority of the jobs are provided by mushroom companies who have little or no regard for their employees. They can't even guarantee them of the least decent career paths. Everyone is being preyed on here and there. Tensions are high and people throng the burgeoning beer parlours in the pursuit of phantom alternative reality.

The international community rates the financial hub of Nigeria so low. In September this year, Lagos was ranked as one of the worst places to live in the world for the third year by the 2019 Global Liveability Index by the Economist Intelligence Unit. Lagos’ general rating stands at 38.5 per cent - 20 per cent on stability, 37.5 per cent on healthcare, 53.5 per cent on .environment, 33.3 on education and 46.4 per cent on Infrastructure. Lagos ranked 139 which is the pride of Nigeria was just a step ahead of Damascus (140) in war-torn Syria which is ranked as the worst city to live in anywhere in the world. With these poor records, one might be forced to ask Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his All Progressives Congress colleagues to roll out the hidden Lagos 'Master Plan' which Ambode flouted to warrant his political annihilation.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-olu recently declared a state of emergency on Lagos roads and mapped out about 116 locations that will be inspected and repaired by the Lagos State Public Works Corporation in conjunction with some engineering firms. It appears to be a good step in the right direction and I hope the declaration wasn't a dummy move to boost the public perception of him. With the current dire state of affairs in Lagos, we fight need a 'Rage Cage or Anger Room' where residents can ease their minds by destroying objects as we have in China and America. Psychologists believe it's helpful and our local entrepreneurs could consider it an option for investment purposes. You would be shocked to see the governor in attendance as he may have some sort of frustration to expel.

With most streets at Ago Palace Way still ridden with flood days after rainfall, I fear the untold hardship another one might inflict on residents severely starved of adequate infrastructural facilities. Residents might need the ingenious efforts of selfless carpenters to build an ark to keep them safe as the days of the biblical Noah.

Osayimwen Osahon George is a journalist and a PhD student at the University of Ibadan.

Anambralstson:
The Acting Chairman of the Economic Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr Ibrahim Magu says one the most wanted suspect by the Federal Bureau of investigation, Oyediran Joseph, has been arrested in Ilorin, the Kwara State Capital for his roles in internet fraud.

Mr Magu disclosed this on Friday in Ilorin on Friday 30th of August 2019 at a press conference to explain the EFCC/FBI Collaboration in the fight against internet fraud and cyber crime .

The EFCC Chairman who was represented by Ilorin Zonal Head of the Commission, Mr Isyaku Sharu said the anti-graft body has been supportive to the activities of FBI and every other foreign counterpart whose responsibility is similar or analogous to the Commission.

"Three weeks ago, the US authority had written to us for assistance in tracking and possible arrest and prosecution of two most wanted FBI suspects in Nigeria."

"Investigation conducted by the EFCC revealed that Joseph had benefited about N60 million from the loot via western union transfers," he said.

Sharu said that within seven months of operation, the Ilorin Zonal office independently arrested over 50 suspected internet fraudsters, secured conviction of 25, and got forfeiture of their exotic cars.

He said that the money acquired from the fraudsters was millions of naira and all gorfeired to federal the government in line with court judgement.

The Zonal Head said that four properties were linked to some of these cybercrime suspects, located in choice areas in Ado Ekiti, Ekiti state.

"These properties include Supermarket, Plaza, and so on, and the conservative value of these properties cannot be less than N800 million to N1 billion."

Sharu said that the nation depends on the vibrancy of the economy, which is a common denominator binding Nigeria together, and business worldwide are being conducted through the medium of cyber.

He said that there is need for Nigerians to come together in fighting the scourge of internet fraud and cybercrime with a view to make the cyber space well-fortified, so that foreign investors can invest to further boost our economy," he said.

Politics / Re: Give Me More Time To Name My Ministers, Buhari Begs Senate by adm212144: 4:07pm On Jul 13, 2019
nairavsdollars:
PRESIDENT Muhammadu Buhari Thursday night pleaded with the leadership of the National Assembly to give him more time for him to compile list of ministerial nominees.

President Buhari also told the presiding and principal officers of the nation’s federal legislative arm of government that he was under pressure to nominate members of his cabinet.

This is as the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan has denied that he said that the presidency promised to send the ministerial list to the Red Chamber this week.

A source at the dinner hosted by the President for the leadership of the National Assembly mid-wife by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters, Senator Ita Enang at the Presidential Villa hinted that the President at the dinner requested that he should be given some time for him to come up with the ministerial nominees.

According to the Source who spoke on the condition of anonymity, “Mr. President said we should give him more time for him to compile the list of ministerial nominees.”

Buhari was said to have noted that most of the ministers he appointed in his first tenure were not known to him, adding that this time around, he wanted to appoint those he knows, have confidence in and that have the capacity to deliver.

It was gathered that President Buhari during the closed door dinner said he was under tremendous pressure to release the ministerial list.

He said: “Many at this dinner meeting are saying they want to see the list of the proposed cabinet so that they can go on leave peacefully. “I’m very much aware about it; I’m under tremendous pressure on it. But the last cabinet which I headed, most of them, the majority of them I didn’t know them. I had to accept the names and recommendations from the party and other individuals.

“I worked with them for three and half years at least – meeting twice or two weeks in a month. So I know them. “But, this time around I’m going to be quite me, me in the sense that I will pick people I personally know.”

Speaking with State House correspondents after the meeting, the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan said the Senate was yet to receive ministerial list from President. According to him, ministerial list was not submitted at dinners contrary to speculations that the President would unveil the ministerial nominees at the dinner.

The Senate President explained that he didn’t promise Nigerians that the ministerial list would be forwarded to the senate this week. When asked if he was now in possession of the ministerial list, he said “Well, I came for a dinner and the process of receiving list is not at dinners. That is all I have to say about this.”

Reminded that he promised Nigerians that the list will get to the Senate this week he said: “I never did. Let me take this opportunity to correct that. A senator raised a point of order under personal explanation and he said we (the senate) should be sent the list of ministers by the executive arm of government.

“And in my response I said the executive is working so hard to ensure that the list of Nigerians that will help this Administration work is going to be constituted, we could even receive it this week. “Could is conditional and I will urge everybody here to report it as it is.”

It was gathered that the Presidency was shocked on Wednesday when it was reported that the senate president announced that the ministerial list would be sent to the senate this week. One of the top aides of the president in the villa, said he was shocked by the senate president’s announcement.

“ Ministerial list this week ? I don’t know anything regarding that. What I know that has been sent was the president request for approval of his special advisers,” he said, pleading not to be named.

Those at the dinner included the Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege, Abdullahi Yahaya – Majority Leader, Ajayi Borofice – Deputy Leader, Orji Uzor Kalu – Chief Whip and Sabi Abdullahi – Deputy Chief Whip. Others were Emmanuel Bwacha, Deputy Minority leader, Phillip Aduda- Minority Whip, Sabi Wau, Deputy Minority Whips.
