PoliticsRe: Buhari To Travel To China In Mid-April by admax(m): 7:53pm On Apr 06, 2016
This is a nice development, more money for his aides!

China has invested lots of billions of Dollars in Nigeria and must have reaped the rewards of their investment in 1000 folds am sure.

Please let President Buhari tell his counterpart that the Chinese companies here are filthy corrupt. Tell them they should stop sending their prisoners to work in Nigeria (Imagine, those ones will be feeling like kings here!)

Threaten the Chinese president that we would deport his citizens en masse if they don't stop their nefarious activities in Nigeria.

There are two sets of people in Nigeria: Nigerians and Politicians.

The politicians are not at tune with the economic realities affecting Nigerians at all! sadly, they will continue to be voted in by Nigerians not on social media because those one just talk but when it comes to voting, they are nowhere to be found. Most of them turned Journalist during the last election.

Saraki and Dogara....You guys are not on the right path if this report is true.

PoliticsRe: Tariff Reversal: Nationwide Blackout Looms, Power Firms Warn by admax(m): 11:53am On Feb 18, 2016
You are so right! Nigerians really needs to be educated on how the power sector works. They should stop playing politics with everything.

locutas:
Very informed post. Unfortunately, sentiment will likely prevail over reason as it usually does in our clime. Most people commenting on this topic have no idea how long it took Azura to conclude its development phase of its GFPP. The politicisation of the tariff increase by the Senate sends a very bad signal to investors.

Azura is the first project-financed IPP to close financially in Nigeria. The project took far too many years to conclude due to the difficulty of developing bankable financed projects in Nigeria. Truth is there are very few of such projects being developed that will close out financially in the next 3 years with the current climate. Uncertainty in the Tariff regime will kill investor confidence.

It costs approximately $1.8mn/MW to develop a gas power plant and $2.73mn/MW to develop a coal power plant. When you consider that the developer will fund the construction of the gas pipeline and transmission lines (to closest substations), the above cost increases considerably.

Simply put, it costs MONEY to develop power projects. Without a bankable tariff, there will NEVER be any real growth in the power sector.

There's a lot truth people just don't want to hear and this is just a taste of it.

PoliticsRe: Tariff Reversal: Nationwide Blackout Looms, Power Firms Warn by admax(m):
The senators really needs to be educated on this as most of them don't understand the dynamics. I can't blame them because they only understand politics.

Nigerians are paying the 2nd cheapest electricity in Africa but want to enjoy 24hrs light as if the equipment needed for electricity generation or transmission are cheap!

Azura a 450MW Genco in Edo will spend over $1.2billion to build their plant, sell to NBET who will give Discos who will sell for stipends while battling with consumer's who don't pay bills and illegal connections etc so Discos won't be able to pay NBET who won't pay Azura (Genco) who won't be able to pay their bank loans (and for gas supply)!

Solution: Increase electricity tariff and cancel estimated billing to consumers. Disconnect those that don't pay. This will bring confidence to the market and attract investors!

People are paying 100 times more than the tariff for running their generators!

On a negative note: American Gayism and Lesbianism culture will now be fully integrated into the Nigerian culture as most American movies, reality shows and soap opera must those act. Since most Africans are reluctant to embrace homosexuality, this is a good avenue to brain-watch Africans. How can we escape this?
