listenersky:PDP is far more likely to even win in Lagos than Osun. I don't think you are a SWner. Osun has deep divisions between Oyos/Ijeshas and Ifes. All that Johnny has is Omisore, Oyedokun and Adesiyan three very tainted characters. PDP lost Oyinlola to internal power struggles too early. |
All these states are Buhari/Osinbajo states. |
softwareman:There is positive sentiment for PDP in Lagos. Only it wont transform into electoral victory at the governorship and Presidential elections. PDP will win many assembly seats. I have spoken to many APC supporters who will vote PDP members into the assembly, the sophisticated reason they give is even though the governor has been good, lack of credible opposition in the house has been dangerous financially for the state. As for governorship and presidential, there are just too many state civil servants, government workers, teachers, APC members and their families, government contactors and Fashola supporters to stem the peeling away of votes for now. Tinubu also has market women locked down tight by his daughter. Maybe 2019 may be different but for now it is APC. |
wakacome:This is a good one, 'P' is really useless in 'Psychology'. I am actually beginning to feel we should blame the leadership of the military for most of the lapses. The NAF has not been able to react quickly to raids by BokoHaram and the President might be too scared to call the military to order. Maybe an ex military man will do a better job. Remember most American presidents have been ex servicemen. |
chidibond:Healthcare is a big thing in the US and Europe because people live to a ripe old age. I have met many 70 year olds still working and when you ask them it is all about healthcare. Here the life expectancy is just about 57. When we settle the other problems our human development indices will steadily improve and they will start showing significant expectations for healthcare. Now everybody is in a mode of just getting by. |
TippyTop:This pro PDP thread is already against PDP. A 16:17 state ratio is a win for APC if Lagos, Kaduna and Kano are APC. |
Fabdedon:GEJ will pilot a canoe better than Buhari. |
softwareman:Correct. The ship sailed on the PDP just a few months ago. The model of 2011 is so irrelevant for the PDP especially with the defections and the reduced opportunity to rig. For the 2011 elections there were two northerners sharing the votes in their base region and SW. The APC was virtually non existent as a party. Adamawa, Ekiti, Kwara and Edo states are very APC-looking now. NC states are the real swing states and the best Jonathan can hope for there is a 50:50 split in states won, not even number of votes. |
Both faces are beautiful for Christ sakes. I am really losing it with this country. What is the relevance of discussing a young lady's pretty face just four weeks to elections?. |
Emytexboy:Crude oil theft is not more than 100000 barrels a day the equivalent of the balance is just stolen from the treasury directly using oil theft as a cover. |
temitemi1:They have stolen you blind. Refineries to be finished in 2016. Ha Nigeria is finished. |
bastien:All I see in yours is falsehood and shallow mindedness the man is making a speech and I am watching the faces of the audience enthralled and understanding that election rigging and buying of judges is the cause of election violence but all you can come up with is parochial nonsense about his accent. The woman is speaking now condemning the workshop being done in the presence of the international community discussing our own election malpractice in front of foreigners. That is depth, that is profundity. Please get serious about your life. Chekwas Okorie UPP is backing Buhari about free and fair elections being a guarantee of no election violence, he said he was also happy Buhari also warned his supporters after some violence. So educated matured Ibo people understand Buhari, it is only the very young ones who have to be 're educated. |
buskie13:The 2011 elections were rigged but I concede that the real actual winner was still Jonathan anyway. All the previous elections after Abiolas own were all rigged and declared for the wrong person except 2011. The 2011 elections were also rigged but declared for the rightful winner. |
bastien:This is the best speech I have heard today. You are just being a tribalist I know where this is coming from. The man is not reading a prepared speech but instance by instance in a measured effective way he has espoused the history of elections since 2007 and his experiences in electoral tribunals. What he said about the deployment and redeployment of judges in order to influence elections was very impactful on the audience. He has exposed all the malpractice previously experienced. Please stop disgracing your generation by posting thrash or showing you don't understand english. |
Buhari just spoke from the heart, moving, intelligent, presidential. The message: stop cheating at elections. |
PLEASE GET THIS RUBBISH THREAD OF NAIRALAND. I AM TIRED OF KIDS SUGGESTING THE BREAK UP OF NIGERIA. SHALLOW, UN REASONED, THRASH POSTED BY YOUTHS WHO HAVE NOT THOUGHT DEEPLY ABOUT THE CAUSE OF THEIR PROBLEMS OR HAVE THE COURAGE TO FACE IT !!!!!. |
KanwuliaJara:The vote to be shared on FeBuhari will ansa. They will know diaris Godu. |
herald9:Jonathan breaks every record. The first president to lose a war in Nigeria, first president to lose 200 girls students. |
emmatok:This clueless man wants to ruin businesses for the young men and women. How will they operate efficiently if they are not paying back mk neybwith interest?. Most businesses operating on grants and gifts close down in the first year. How do you even justify giving to some people and denying others?. |
Kx:Akwa Ibom is no more Jonathan's strong base. Akpabio has performed but there are intra state ethnic tensions and PDP is self destructing |
ogb5:Very big LIE. There were no celebrations when Buhari was overthrown. A lot of doubt was cast on the motives of IBB and his group. The coup was partly financed by Abiola who paid dearly for it and was betrayed by IBB on June 12. I know there is a spiritual regression by most Jonathan supporters who now seem to support the most corrupt head f State nigeria has ever had and the annuller of a democratic elections in Nigeria but it is all indicative of the shock that has seized the Jonathan camp. Reading IBB coup speech at a campaign rally is the lowest of the lows by a sitting president only exceeded by denying the Chibok girls. When God turns his back this is what you see. Buhari never retrenched workers, all the measures he put in place was to actually keep workers in employment and implement short term solutions to economic problems without devaluation that would have enslaved Nigerians. Those economic solutions were right for those times and most third world economies were doing the same. What Buhari will do when he comes into power is support local manufacturing and ensure that demand is stimulated within the economy for people to afford goods and services. Expect a boom for the Solid Minerals sector, agriculture with guaranteed profitable pricing, strict anti corruption profile and yes if you are a trader, try to add value to what you are selling. Jonathan has reduced our foreign exchange reserves to less than five months of exports, PDP has a instituted a regime where recurrent expenditure is bloated with legislators taking home $2million each. Billionaires are not paying taxes, one third of oil and gas receipts are stolen. Very big mess and it is not idle chat, you and I will startling it fate elections if nothing is done fast. |
seankafor:Your man is not competent, admit it. An American has also asked me if the President who could not find the missing Chibok girls was going to be on the ballot. I will reply him only after the elections. Most countries have very STRINGENT standards for whoever is going to affect the destiny of millions of their people for 4 years, in Nigeria suffer head has weakened peoples IQ and vision. That is why the same president would be asking why a trusted public official who stole just some little money should be punished so much and his party has not asked him to withdraw. |
Kenai:I will do that but please Nigeria is a respected country, stop flashing a newspaper report of an EFFECT due to mistakes of a previous regime and blame the then corrective regime just applying the TREATMENT for those effects. People may start saying we are actually dumber than they thought we were before. |
lyntiffany:I don't lie on public media, I too am a little worried about Buhari' s heavily accented and haltingly slow speech. I think you will find that I always admit my candidate's weaknesses. The only point I am making is that Jonathan has a similar problem compounded by occasional lack of self control, illogicality, childish exaggeration and really silly things a politician does not say in election period we have heard from him. This will continue as the pressure of campaigning and the poll numbers for Buhari increases he will make really bad FORCED ERRORS which will cost him the elections. Do you wanna bet?. |
Kenai:I have told you guys to walk up to the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria and look at the records. There is no need for emotive statements. There are the Uma Eleazus, Omololayoles, Kalus, PZs Kola Jamodus and so on. Try to find out how these manufacturers body were having to buy import licenses from touts of the then PDP (a stupid party called NPN). A very important company like PZ or Star Paper Mill had to be buying import licenses from political touts. When Buhari came he cleared that rubbish in three months (who born monkey?) Manufacturers who were adding even the smallest of value had it very easy and were expanding their plants before Jonathan's Fada (IBB) came on the scene and destroyed Nigeria completely. |
Trailblazer1:We can blame GEJ because of six years and $100bn spent and stolen on Boko Haram, power supply, unemployment. The non performance is excusable (he is just a fishery zoologist) but the stealing will never be forgiven. |
lyntiffany:Jonathan's speech is worse. Heavily Ijaw-accented, illogical, appealing to base emotions, full of lies and always absolving himself of all responsibility. |
Kenai:I don't regard wholesalers and retailers of imported goods as engaging in respectable small business. I was referring to manufacturers of goods who established small manufacturing outfits to challenge imported goods. Only the WORST LIAR would blame Jonathan for Boko Haram and Almajiris. The almajiri system was caused by Ahmadu Bello, no less. Boko Haram was caused by system corruption worsened by PDP looting, PDP' s culture of using militias, arming them and not dis arming and rehabilitating them after elections. Why people are blaming Jonathan is because of complicity in escalating the problem, cowardice in standing up to the sponsors, cowardice in standing up to the generals stealing defence funds, lack of care for the suffering in the region and incompetence as commander in chief after Chibok girls adoption. As president, a lot of problems you inherit are not caused by you but you have sworn to tackle them to the best of your ability. |
Trailblazer1:This was Shagari' s doing. Please there is such a thing as bullwhip effect in economics. If you mess up education during Abacha regime for instance, the effect will be felt by employers and the unemployed themselves during Obasanjo regime. What you saw in that headline actually justifies Buhari's staunch defence of the Naira and import restrictions. By the eleventh month, things had stabilized. I remember sitting in front of a friend of my dad's 2b who was proudly going to set up a ceramics manufacturing company at that same period and was thanking the government for high import tariffs that were going to save his new business. I think Buhari, Shonekan and later Abacha (for all his faults) were governments that were very protective of local small scale manufacturing. Obj and Jona were more protective of the Dangote's of this world. |
It's 28:8 state advantage to Buhari. With Jonathan's strength only in the SE. Two SS states are currently a toss-up. The major problem for the party is that the PDP is actually non existent in the north in the context of a Presidential election. There are actually more committed PDP stakeholders in the SW who are unfortunately fighting a losing battle against well grounded opposition. The north will find it hard to commit to a Jonathan presidency at this point. |
You are a PDP apologist and possible tribalist to boot. GMB is the next President. You can go ahead and vote for the losing candidate against the tide of CHANGE that is coming that will not disturb God's plan for Nigeria. |
Revenue receipts of the equivalent of 400,000 barrels of crude oil was stolen everyday for 4 years by the Jonathan administration. Royalties, LNG profits, NPDC earnings were also under reported and mismanaged for six years. All this is on the upstream side alone. On refined products, the following are the areas where wholesale stealing (not corruption) is on going: Subsidy refund to marketers by volume Subsidy refund to marketers by price Tariffs on imports of petroleum products, many other things were imported under cover of tariff waivers. |
