Politics › Re: Fear In Gov Amosun's Camp As 8 APC House Members Decamp by Adminisher: 12:55am On Nov 13, 2014 |
OKDnigeria: Palpable fear has gripped Ogun State governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun’s camp following the defection of eight lawmakers to the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, and Social Democratic Party, SDP, in the state. Speaker of the House, Suraj Adekunbi disclosed the decamping, yesterday, during plenary, while reading a letter announcing the defection of eight lawmakers to the PDP and the SDP. Adekunbi said: “I received a letter announcing the defection of Messers Joseph Adegbesan, Salmon Adeleke, John Obafemi, Remmy Hazzan and Obafemi Olowo-Oloja to the PDP. “I also got three letters this morning from Hons. Olufemi Allen-Taylor, Oludaisi Elemide and Elizabeth Anifowose announcing their defection from the All Progressives Congress, APC, to the Social Democratic Party, SDP.” Adegbesan, Adeleke and Obafemi had dumped the Peoples Party of Nigeria, PPN, to join the PDP while Hazzan and Olowo-Oloja also dumped the APC for the PDP. Allen-Taylor, Elemide and Anifowose who were members of the APC defected to the SDP. Vanguard gathered that the development has sent jitters into the APC camp of Amosun as the governor was planning to present the 2015 budget proposal to the state House of Assembly on November 18. The Speaker who also read the governor’s letter during plenary said he will present the fiscal proposal at 10. am. According to him; “This is in accordance with the provision of section 121 of the Nigerian constitution. “Governor Amosun expressed gratitude to the members of Ogun State House of Assembly for their cooperation with the executive,” the letter said. The House after the latest defections is divided into two main camps with 13 members including the speaker in Amosun’s APC faction, while PDP and SDP also have combined figure of 13 lawmakers. www.vanguardngr.com/2014/11/tension-amosuns-apc-faction-8-lawmakers-defect-pdp-/ This is Amosun' s problem not APC. APC owns Ogun State. |

zubby29: honestly whenever i read report like this i weep for dis country.i blv recruitment into Nigerian army has bin bastardised.merit has bin overlooked, tribalism has eaten into almost every arm of government,nd dis is d sad result Read the article carefully. This is leadership failure. A battalion of 300men is a degradation of the usual Nigerian Army manning levels. Where did all the others go?. I would like an immediate retirement of Badeh. The Chief of Army Staff should also be invited to a one on one interview with the President. They are destroying the fabric of the Nigerian military. We have never had it so bad. When you keep a battalion of just 300 men, you better have the airforce on standby with good close air support combat jets ready to intervene when the men are overmatched but this was not provided. Shame on the clueless Commander In Chief. Shame on Badeh and shame on Minimah. |

tochukwuifeduba: no if Jonathan wins he will simply declare total , absolute and comprehensive war against Boko Haram. Boko haram will be crush before June 2015 if Jonathan wins.
Full scale military invasion of Northern Nigeria by the Army will commence We have seen the maximum possible from this man and it is underwhelming for now. Jona has no control over the army. The soldiers retreating from Boko Haram are not doing it out of cowardice but serious sabotage caused by frustration. Now what is happening now is that we trust MOPOL more than the army to fight Boko Haram. You cannot believe the corruption and how it has weakened that institution. You can do the experiment yourself, if you are leading a body allow indiscipline and corruption to take hold then come tell me how successful you have been. That is hat the army has been turned to. A battalion gets depleted to just 300men, the rest AWOL. Weapons unguarded. Is it this president that will declare total war on Boko Haram?. Abet let us talk the truth for a change. |

masseratti: The part I laughed about is Niger delta people calling Gej to come and become their President seriously? You mean tompolo,Asari, boy loaf will allow Gej to leave abuja and start all over again in Niger delta? Do you think if we asked the Niger Deltan's to choose among themselves,a good leader be Nigeria President do you think they will honestly give us GEJ? Gej was imposed by Obasanjo who in turn was imposed by the Northern Elite, both of them were never the choice of their people, southwest or south south. I have said this same thing many times. GEJ is the Niger Delta's second eleven. He does not come close in terms of pedigree, charisma or clout. If there is a ND republic today, Jona is off to live in Europe. Definitely not ND President material by a long shot. They would however inflict this same man they cannot allow to govern them on Nigeria as a punitive measure purely out of wickedness. |

And the president is trying to right their wrongs and they are calling him Clueless... sometimes I wonder if politician think all Nigerians were fools, even if all Nigerians were fools, the truth is we can't be fool forever! GEJ is the one fawning over the western world. Buhari was anti west when he was in office. Nigeria was on the road to economic independence GEJ and NOI meanwhile have squandered all the reserves built during the OBJ regime and have returned Nigeria to a debtor nation. More loans are coming with oil at $78 a barrel. Ngozi will take loans for anything and Jona does not know enough to stop her. |

egift:
I watched yesterday in amazement, the speech of President Jonathan as he declared to run a 2nd tenure of his Stealing-Is-Not-Corruption system of Government and wondered why the President could not pause his Tel-prompter and observe a full One-Minute-Silence for scores of School children, whose lives were cut shut by the terrorist attacks.
When he called for One minute silence, I was appreciative of the gesture, but before even those that were seated could stand, the President was already off to his business of promising the same things he promised in the last elections and numerating some of the things he have done.
It is very shameful that not only could these kids not be protected as Nigerians, the President is also too impatient to observe a minute silence. He was nervous and jittery. Trying to catch up with the teleprompter. I don't think this man gives a shit for any bombed out 10-year old. He was like let me just get through this speech, shake a few hands and go back home abeg. |

Let the country collapse if GEJ loses the election. It is going to collapse if he wins the election anyway and it is already collapsing now. The military will take over. They will arrest all politicians, seize private jets, freeze accounts having more than 1billion in them. They will also clamp down on Niger Delta militancy in a way that would be bloody for the region. Boko Haram will be destroyed in a very heavy handed way. Nigeria might lose a million people but the country will never break up. |

It is important to realise that this is one of the most ridiculous statements coming from a sovereign country. The US does not have an obligation to sell anything to Nigeria. They have not even sold weapon systems to us ever so GEJ should stop deceiving us and himself. This govt keeps calling them allies whereas to all intents and purposes they regard us as competition in political, economic spheres. Regarding us as competition is a mark of respect. Let us diversify our sources of weaponry to China, Pakistan and Russia and also develop stuff locally. |

Ologunjude: The past leaders didn't do much as well. There were some in power when the country was boiling but they came out of it victorious. Are you guys implying GEJ has given up already on BK? Almost a trillion was budgeted for security in the last 7 years. Where is this monies? Our army do not have what it takes to fight this guys. The gov't smell of corruption every where you look. Impunity has set in. These are some of the major issues why you can't fight this war. No presidents in the world would celebrate when kids are been slaughtered. Please take out the military regimes and do your assessment again. GEJ is the worst civilian president we have ever had. On every scale he falls short. Even Shagari built up the military, developed agriculture and was doing balanced development all over the country. |
