3. The Deputy Prime Minister was Zanna Dipcharima and constitutionally should have been sworn in as the succeeding Prime Minister. Instead Ironsi took over power.
So, the highest ranking military officer took over government, quelled the coup and sent the plotters to jail and you still believe that Gen Ironsi was a party to the coup?

Negro_Ntns:
There is load of questions. . .
Sure, there are lots of questions but the shameful thing is that as your questions are answered or statements proven wrong you disappear and after a while come back with other questions.

Even if you are given the next 100 years to bring up questions you will not exhaust them considering the fact that you are biased and your sole aim is to sow and spread hatred towards a people.

Will you shut up and stop spamming!
You are the problem and no matter how many times you rant, it would'nt change the fact that you've always started the barage of insults
It is not what you think that matters it is the reality that matters. No one on this forum can state that I have ever insulted him/her for disagreeing with a position but many will agree that I usually respond to them.

Maybe you need to reproduce any post where I started any insult (not responding to one) on any thread not just in your case but on any one on this forum.

Truth is always steady but lies will always fall like a pack of cards.

And makes 10000 times what it sends as aids to Nigeria.

In any case we don't need aids from anyone. We agree that we have serious leadership problems in Nigeria.

OBJ cleared our debts and today we are borrowing again. Wonderful. Sometimes I wonder if a 3rd term wouldn't have been better for Nigeria.

Oh shut up you LIAR!
You've always started the insults in our encounters simply because you lack basic understanding of concepts, contexts and the use of words. You're so sensitive that you interprete EVERYTHING as an insult. . . .why the sensitivity? Probably coz you're trying to mask your ignorance and vitriolic bias towards the issues at hand.
One minute he states he believes his insults should be ignored.

The next minute he reverses his position and claims I was the one doing it.

One thing I don't do and will never do is insult anyone just because I disagree with him/her. What for? When there are so many reasons to back up any position or even accept making a mistake or an error in judgement.

You don't have to change your ways especially if that is how you disagree with your parents at home so do not imagine for one second that I am trying to make you change your childish and stupid ways. Just carry on. At least you have been dismissed on so many threads on this forum based on that and I guess the shame is on you.

People only resort to insults when they are faced with superior logic on any issue otherwise why would insult be the chosen path to defending a position?

. . .it should not matter what ethnic group our President belongs to. . .we desire to have a person of merit to lead. So why isn't the other two major tribes confident and trustful of an Igbo leadership? What is the past relationship between these three tribes where one is in disfavor amongst the other two and that one has been kept out of Presidential seat for so long?
Kept out of Presidential seat for how long?

Military coups are purely military issues and as such cannot be used to talk about keeping any tribe out of presidential seat.

How many democratic elections have you held in this country since independence or even since after the war?

1963 - Igbo president and Hausa prime minister

1979 - Hausa president and Igbo Vice president

1983 - Hausa president and Igbo Vice president

1993 - election annulled

1999 - Yoruba president and Hausa Vice president

2003 - Yoruba president and Hausa Vice president

2007 - Hausa president and Ijaw Vice president

The dates and entries for presidents and vice presidents above are facts.

Mind you, a free and fair election was annulled because according to some people the alleged winner would not be trusted with the presidency.

Also remember that 1999 was possible for the South West as a result of compromise.

More importantly I want you to remember that we currently operate on rotational presidency so the issue of Igbos not being trusted with the presidency will only make sense when other regions have produced the president and at the turn of the South East it is denied the Igbos.

Until such a time comes, please hold your hatred for the Igbos as your points though based on a lot of fabricated articles and baseless insinuations have been crashing like mad since you started this thread.

Sorry to disappoint you as I will always respond to insults by people like you so that you understand that you cannot use them to dictate the pace or direction of any argument.

Educated minds should be able to agree or disagree on issues without resorting to insults. That you freely insult people and expect them to ignore you shows that you are either a kid or you are plain stupid to have such belief.

It is said that examination is not the best test of knowledge. This may be true but examination is extremely necessary so as to put paid to certain dragging issues.

On the issue at hand I believe there is a right answer just as there is a wrong answer and no matter how obvious the answer is it will be supremely difficult for someone who is wrong to agree with the answer that is correct.

A teacher walks into a class of say 40 students and introduces a topic and talks about it for the next 30 minutes, asks the class if there are any questions, the class choruses "No sir/ma". This ordinarily should mean that all the 30 students understood the topic to the extent that none of them had any questions to ask.

Now, the teacher decides to give a test on the topic just discussed/taught and after marking the result sheets of all the 30 students the teacher is shocked to see that the scores ranged from say 10% to 100% on a subject she introduced at the same time to the same people and conducted the test based within the boundaries of the subject taught that day.

But all the students claimed they had no questions even when some of them did not understand the subject.

This is what happens everyday with us. Some of us come here with the "I am right attitude" and that the rest are wrong regardless of the facts on ground.

While the students may have been humbled by the result of the test especially those that failed the test based on correctness or otherwise of their answers measured against a standard and correct answer the reverse is the case here where some faceless people sitting behind their computers would type away all manner of nonsense and yet be quick to insult others simply because they find themselves in a position where they cannot coherently put their thoughts down to be able to convince anyone on the issue at hand.

beaf & afam - tudor and bastage were demanding concrete evidence. Is there any crime in that?
I will suggest you comment based on facts and objectivity and not bias. Bastage's first statement on this thread was - Afam. You are an idiot. Of course you see nothing wrong in it and ask if that is a crime. Please, don't make comments for the sake of making them and try to figure out the root cause of anything before taking sides based on convenience.

yommyuk:
In my opinion the war is more about ideology. 9/11 was the driving force. was it an immature move on part of the west? History says a war
against an ideology is hard to win. Oil may be another factor as you are stating. if so give us current proof like which companies are involved,
which govt agencies are involved (we need names) don't give us this jumbo jumbo bush theory.
Thanks for sharing your opinion. Unfortunately, on this issue it is not about our individual opinions but about the facts on ground, facts that we me choose to ignore and refer to as conspiracy theories. While I respect your right to have opinions on anything I simply do not agree with them.

yommyuk:
I am not disputing your theory, but your evidence is Lame. That is Tudor's point cool
I thought you claimed we have not provided any evidence? Now, it is lame.

On Tudor, you have repeated the mistake you made on Bastage. I have never insulted anyone on this forum for having a different opinion on anything, however when people bring the insults I usually respond to them in kind.

So, if you are ok with people who will start their posts with insults on people just because they disagree with the person instead of defending a position on the issue at hand I am sorry I am not ok with that and I do not have any atom of respect or regard for such people and for you to openly agree with such people in spite of these wrong approaches only goes to show that you are like them.

I believe that any subject under the sun can be debated about by any one as long as there is mutual respect, maybe this is something quite a number of us are not used to. I did not grow up in environments where basic disagreements are settled by cursing and insulting the other parties even if they are our friends, colleagues and parents.

Listen to me! If you disagree with something I write that is fine go ahead but no need to claim I have no clue. I implore you to type sanctions and Zimbabwe and you will be able to know what sanctions. We actually discussed this in my political science lecture at my school. You don't have to believe everything but do yourself some good and do a little research no matter how small. Yes Zimbabwe has been sanctioned, hard to.

As for taking the land back. He started from the 80s talking about it. He reached agreements with England and they would set a time and the whites would back off on the deal as is the centuries old trick of going back on deals. Mugabee did not initially ask for everything back just that some of the lands be returned to the original owners who were displaced at the whim of a white man needing the land. Do you realize that at times there were white farmers that owned land as big as small Islands, in a continent that was not theirs to begin with?
His ignorance came from how he was attacked after taking the lands back. Whites distroyed whatever they could so that the people getting it would not be able to have much use of it. The West rained down on Mugabe and Zimbabwe for taking their things back that had been discussed for decades but no one had made a peep when black families were removed from land that had been theirs for centuries.
Thanks for the post. Tell them if you have the time.

As for me, repeating the same thing over and over again to these ignorant people is something I won't be doing on this forum as their number keeps increasing every other month.

Simple facts are dismissed and yet they expect one to address questions that may be downright stupid and senseless.

However, what I have refused to swallow (from some Western media and other ignorant Nigerians even here on this forum) is that the West cannot be linked to the current problem in Zimbabwe.

This man was made a Knight by the Queen of England after many years of being in power.

Some of us have conveniently avoided the questions - What happened? When did the West realize Mugabe was bad? Can anyone absolve the West of its complicity in the IMF and World Bank dealings with Zimbabwe? Why was the opposition leader funded and supported by foreign nations?

Late Senator and Flight Lieutenant A. Nwankwo, the Air force ADC to Gen. T. A. Ironsi traveled to Ibadan with the GOC. Also present in the government house during the arrest of Ironsi and Fajuyi were Lt. Sani Bello; the army ADC to Ironsi, Lt. Umar; ADC to Fajuyi, Lt. William Wulbe commanding officer in-charge of Ironsi’s security guards, Major Danjuma PSO to Ironsi, Lt. Col. H. Njoku; commander 2nd Battalion and Lt. John Onoja Adjutant of 4th Battalion.
@Dede1,

Thanks for the information.

So, Danjuma was the PSO to Ironsi and was the person that killed Ironsi, is this also factual? It seems that a lot of things have been twisted, adjusted, added or removed from the true account of events to the extent that one has to remove any form of bias or ethnic sentiments to get to the truth of the matter.

Please do not join the lunatic bunch in spreading the shameful propaganda planted by the western region of Nigerian government publication of 1967 to save face for the region’s inability to stand up against aggression.

The claim of Lt. Col. F Fajuyi opting to die with Gen. Ironsi was and continues to be a blatant falsehood. I had the opportunity to talk to ADC to Ironsi, the late FLt and Senator Arthur Nwankwo, who categorically refuted such crap.

Also, in the Gowon’s biography by Eliegwu, then Lt. William Wulbe rubbished such claim in the interview he gave to Eliagwu. The Wulbe further hinted that Lt. Col. Fajuyi was indeed legitimate target because the military governor had been allegedly involved in the coup of January 15, 1966. Nobody receives options of life or death in the heat of coup d'etat
@Dede1,

Thanks for pointing out the issue of Late Fajuyi. This is news to me and I will attempt to verify just to be certain. Was Late Nwankwo with Ironsi when he was killed? I am aware of the job of an ADC by the way, my dad was an army officer so I am not unaware of the workings of the military, I just want to be sure we are all on the same page.

He keeps telling people to read the highly subjective piece and even thanked two people for doing so but when one of them confirmed that indeed the coup was not just an Igbo coup he started asking for clarification. What manner of man is this with so much hate in his system?
Science/TechnologyRe: Inverter And Solar Panel Solution To Nigeria Electricity Failure by Afam(m): 11:53am On Jul 20, 2009
informed:
Guys, even N150, 000 - N400, 000 is not a chicken change to the average Nigerian. How many Nigerians can afford N150,000 talk less of N 600,000.  The solutions you guys are talking about are for a selected few who have very deep pockets and that's not the solution to our needs as a country. We need to come up with pocket friendly alternatives to the epileptic power situation. If anyone can come up with cheaper solar based products that can take the place of PHCN and still allow people to keep some money in their pockets, then such investors or innovators would smile to their banks.

I am presently working on some of such research projects in collaboration with some foreign and local NGO's and you'll be amazed at the kind of products and projects we have been able to come up with. These are very simple and pocket friendly products.

We are presently looking forward to passing these skills which are a result of our research to small scale investors interested in effecting change and putting PHCN out of business while they smile to their banks.

If you're interested in joining us on this crusade, just send your enquiries to solarbizness@gmail.com
When it comes to generating electricity or storing electricity to be used as back up the technologies involved are not hidden, they are well known so talking about a research that could be pocket friendly as you put it and still replace PHCN may not really make sense.

Looking for cheap products and/or components that are usually mass produced based on design assumptions that may not hold water here in Nigeria is one thing, doing research on how to generate electricity is yet another.

Backup systems are usually cheaper than generating systems for the same loads.

Good batteries cost money, reliable inverters cost money, installation is usually not free. These are for typical backup systems.

For systems where you have to generate your own electricity you will still set aside money for what I have listed above apart from the core generating modules like solar panels and wind turbines.

Again, wanting to power everything in the house will not cost you the same as someone wanting to power essential loads as this will be usually cheaper.

The oil in the Caspian basin is estimated to be worth over US $12 trillion shocked shocked shocked

In 1998 privates Cheney, then CEO of Haliburton commented that "I can't think of a time when we've had a region emerge as suddenly to become as strategically significant as the Caspian." The same "hated" taliban mullahs were indeed invited over to Washington

I may not have the right answers to your questions but I will always respond to them but certainly not to anyone that cannot finish a sentence without insulting another simply because he/she disagrees with the person.

This is common with quite a number of Nigerians and it is a shame, real shame.
