The agency quoted a police spokesman as saying the militants belonged to Boko Haram, a group seeking the imposition of sharia law across Nigeria.
Any Nigerian would know that the statement attributed to the police spokesman does not hold water because no group would want Sharia imposed in any of the South Eastern states. Sometimes, we should use common sense to separate facts from fiction.

I really don't suffer fools. If you were not blinded by your tribalism, you would have noticed that I was specific in each instance that I used Biafra and Igbo. The fact remains that my closest friends are Igbo, but they did not come directly from the bush to start making noise in Lagos before going abroad. They settled themselves to learn and adapt culturally to avoid spilling the type of ignorance coming from your likes.

My association with enlightened Igbos has allowed me to be able to differentiate the moronic bush men who have tasted money for the first time, from people who come from homes of distinction in Igboland. Your calibre of people who choose not to learn from the past to ensure your peaceful tomorrow, will never affect or change my predisposition towards my classy friends who happen to be Igbo. There is a clear distinction of the difference in my mind.

However, you have really gone beyond the point of return in your new scheming attempts to change Yoruba history. My fear at this point is that your types will galvanize the Yorubas against the Igbos generally due to your fellow ignorant Yorubas. The fact is that when push comes to shove, your leaders will be held responsible for the atrocities that you will cause by not speaking out and stopping the nonsense early. Yorubas have always been a wealthy people who have learnt the good and evils money bring and know how to handle wealth graciously. This is in contrast to you bush men who have never seen wealth and will end up being victims of the wealth in itself. What we are currently seeing is what the Western world refer to as the Nouveau Riche syndrome. You won't understand what I am speakiing of, because it is something mere money cannot purchase but has to be bred. You are displaying the breed of a street mutt which is the result of the political thuggery now fully embedded in Nigerian Politics.

Ole, oju o ri ola ri.
There is a saying that goes like this - When issues come to logic and common sense some people begin to see ghosts.

I do not belong to a group that promotes hate or tribal supremacy neither do I support the call for Biafra based on reasons earlier highlighted so your decision to see my posts through purely ethnic and tribal prism is most unfortunate even though you reserve the right to see everything as ethnic based.

So, while I do not promote ethnic supremacy of any kind I make bold to state that I will always defend my people (Igbos) anytime lies and misinformation are used against them. I am a proud Igbo man and have no reason not to be proud of being an Igbo man.

I agreed that some of your questions made sense but refused to respond to them because you cannot make categorical statements and insulting statements including lies against my people on the one hand and yet expect to get answers to your questions on the other hand.

I am not an ethnic bigot so if you cannot discuss on any issue without fight cursing people you are on your own.

God forbid I begin to live life based on just ethnic and tribal sentiments. If my not agreeing with some of the lies and statements you put down (that prompted my response) makes me a bush man so be it. But for starters based on what you have put down in terms of coherency and consistency I dare say you have an attitude problem and it is your problem to sort that out not mine.

I guess you need to visit the Racism, Tribalism, Sectarianism section more as that seems to be where you belong.

As regards your friends that are Igbo I don't see any relevance to such claims as the claims could as well be like the lies you have been telling that you have not been able to defend. Stick to the issues, your personal life don't mean anything to me.

@FACE,

Thanks for your post.

To be honest I am always tempted to ignore some of the accusations of Negro_Ntns and his co-travelers especially when he is always unable to admit his mistakes or defend his statements but the danger in doing that is that people will end up believing a story no matter how wrong if they keep hearing it all the time without any contrary opinion whatsoever.

With all due respect to his likes, he is incapable of any intellectual discussion. No self respecting man or woman would make accusations and when challenged with facts and logic cannot defend his/her positions.

With those questions asked, I want to assure my Igbo friends that I vow to personally support them in achieving their Aim of Biafraand once the above questions have been adequately addressed. I believe that those not interested in being part of Nigeria should be free to emancipate so the rest of the country can be free of agitators who are clearly blackmailers in disguise that only want to find ways of lining their pockets without earning it.
@larez,

You have asked some questions that deserve answers but when you make accusations as if they are statements of facts including condemning a people based on actions of a few people then it makes perfect sense to ignore you and your questions as in reality you are grossly inconsequential in the scheme of things in Nigeria, bitter truth you must live with.

On Biafra

I have never hidden my position on Biafra, as at today their is nothing like Biafra unless all the other states that were part of the then Eastern region agree to be part of Biafra so the reckless statements by some clowns even on this forum that all Igbos support Biafra or that Igbos should not live in any part of Nigeria but Igbo land to do business really are unfortunate and shows a lot of ignorance and knowledge about the facts on ground.

On a separate Igbo nation

The facts are there for all to see and feel. The core Igbos states alone have more than enough crude oil, coal and limestone to build an sustain a progressive nation and make money selling them after all we are naturally business oriented people, not so? When it comes to natural resources only an ignorant person would fail to see what the 5 Igbos states have.

On non Igbos not doing business or doing well in Igbo land

This should ordinarily be obvious to all because most of the other tribes make their money from institutions and federal based organizations not regular businesses. So, when federal presence is almost non existent in Igboland it becomes very difficult for non Igbos to settle there as they do in Lagos or Abuja (after all it is not all the western areas that you see Igbo people doing business).

After the war about 20 or 40 pounds were given to the Igbo man to start life afresh and with such "large foreign direct investment" from the federal government the area cannot be an investment destination for a lot of non Igbos.

In any case, you have different areas in the south east with significant population of non Igbos. I merely touched on some of the accusations for the sake of argument to prove that even if the accusations were indeed correct that there is enough justification.

It seems a lot of people find it difficult to think through issues especially when it comes to tribes or ethnicity as I don't understand why someone would believe lies being told by someone maybe because they have common tribal interests. What is the essence of getting any education if one cannot train the mind to read, digest, assimilate, analyze and conclude on issues based on logic, facts and common sense and not based on sentiments and tribal or religious mindset and bigotry?

People commit offenses based on the applicable punishments.

So, unless the forum is ready and willing to ban anyone using the forum to spread hate or incite racism or tribal supremacy nothing is going to change.

There should be zero tolerance to such but I doubt if the forum will do this considering the fact that the major reason for this forum as it stands today is the money it generates for the owner via google adsense program.

It is shame that in spite of the many problems in this country that need intellectual discussions and contributions on how to tackle them one is forced to read all manner of hate filled threads on this forum.

It is strange that while you run away or avoid relevant questions that tend to dispel some of the notions and statements you have made on this thread you started you are quick to respond to comments that do not have direct bearing to the issues you raised.

It is obvious you cannot engage in any intellectual debate let alone able to defend statements you make. If you cannot defend a statement then do not waste our time churning out ridiculous upon ridiculous accusations against a tribe.

Fortunately for all, you will never be both the judge and the jury so while you continue to spread the hate based on misinformation and half truths readers will always think through counter statements and in the process the lies and conspiracy theories will give way to verifiable facts.

Well written but that conclusion shows bias on the part of the writter.

Yes Isreal might have committed war crimes in Gaza, but that does not make Isreal wrong everytime in the future when it chooses to defend itself.

No one can tell the circumstance and events of the future.
The statistics of the last war does not help Israel in any way as such statistics would make anyone believe that indeed targeting and killing innocent civilians are not expressly forbidden by the Israeli army.

No innocent person deserves to die and all parties must work towards killing combatants and not easy defenseless people including men, women and children.

Killing "Everything That Moves" -By Uri Avnery

LIKE THE ghost of Hamlet's father, the evil spirit of the
Gaza War refuses to leave us in peace. This week it came
back to disturb the tranquility of the chiefs of the state
and the army.

"Breaking the Silence", a group of courageous former combat
soldiers, published a report comprising the testimonies of
30 Gaza War fighters. A hard-hitting report about actions
that may be considered war crimes.

The generals went automatically into denial mode. Why
don't the soldiers disclose their identity, they asked
innocently. Why do they obscure their faces in the video
testimonies? Why do they hide their names and units?

How can we be sure that they are not actors reading a text
prepared for them by the enemies of Israel? How do we know
that this organization is not manipulated by foreigners,
who finance their actions? And anyhow, how do we know that
they are not lying out of spite?

One can answer with a Hebrew adage: "It has the feel of
Truth". Anyone who has ever been a combat soldier in
war, whatever war, recognizes at once the truth in these
reports. Each of them has met a soldier who is not ready
to return home without an X on his gun showing that he
killed at least one enemy. (One such person appears in
my book "The Other Side of the Coin", which was written
60 years ago and published in English last year as the
second part of "1948: A soldier's Tale".) We have been
there.

The testimonies about the use of phosphorus, about massive
bombardment of buildings, about "the neighbor procedure"
(using civilians as human shields), about killing "every-
thing that moves", about the use of all methods to avoid
casualties on our side – all these corroborate earlier
testimonies about the Gaza War, there can be no reasonable
doubt about their authenticity. I learned from the report
that the "neighbor procedure" is now called "Johnny
procedure", God knows why Johnny and not Ahmad.

The height of hypocrisy is reached by the generals with
their demand that the soldiers come forward and lodge
their complaints with their commanders, so that the army
can investigate them through the proper channels.

First of all, we have already seen the farce of the army
investigating itself.

Second, and this is the main point: only a person intent
on becoming a martyr would do so. A solder in a combat
unit is a part of a tightly knit group whose highest
principle is loyalty to comrades and whose commandment
is "Thou shalt not squeal!" If he discloses questionable
acts he has witnessed, he will be considered a traitor
and ostracized. His life will become hell. He knows
that all his superiors, from squad leader right up to
division commander, will persecute him.

This call to go through "official channels" is a vile
method of the generals – members of the General Staff,
Army Spokesmen, Army Lawyers – to divert the discussion
from the accusations themselves to the identity of the
witnesses. No less despicable are the tin soldiers
called "military correspondents", who collaborate with
them.

BUT BEFORE accusing the soldiers who committed the acts
described in the testimonies, one has to ask whether the
decision to start the war did not itself lead inevitably
to the crimes.

Professor Assa Kasher, the father of the army "Code of
Ethics" and one of the most ardent supporters of the
Gaza War, asserted in an essay on this subject that a
state has the right to go to war only in self defense,
and only if the war constitutes "a last resort". "All
alternative courses" to attain the rightful aim "must
have been exhausted".

The official cause of the war was the launching from the
Gaza Strip of rockets against Southern Israeli towns and
villages. It goes without saying that it is the duty of
the state to defend its citizens against missiles. But
had all the means to achieve this aim without war really
been exhausted? Kasher answers with a resounding "yes".
His key argument is that "there is no justification for
demanding that Israel negotiate directly with a terrorist
organization that does not recognize it and denies its
very right to exist."

This does not pass the test of logic. The aim of the
negotiations was not supposed to be the recognition by
Hamas of the State of Israel and its right to exist (who
needs this anyway?) but getting them to stop launching
missiles at Israeli citizens. In such negotiations, the
other side would understandably have demanded the lift-
ing of the blockade against the population of the Gaza
Strip and the opening of the supply passages. It is
reasonable to assume that it was possible to reach –
with Egyptian help - an agreement that would also have
included the exchange of prisoners.

No only was this course not exhausted – it was not even
tried. The Israeli government has consistently refused
to negotiate with a "terrorist organization" and even
with the Palestinian Unity Government that was in
existence for some time and in which Hamas was represent-
ed.

Therefore, the decision to start the War on Gaza, with
a civilian population of a million and a half, was
unjustified even according to the criteria of Kasher
himself. "All the alternative courses" had not been
exhausted, or even attempted.

But we all know that, apart from the official reason,
there was also an unofficial one: to topple the Hamas
government in the Gaza Strip. In the course of the war,
official spokesmen stated that there was a need to attach
a "price tag" – in other words, to cause death and
destruction not in order to hurt the "terrorists" them-
selves (which would have been almost impossible) but to
turn the life of the civilian population into hell, so
they would rise up and overthrow Hamas.

The immorality of this strategy is matched by its
inefficacy: our own experience has taught us that
such methods only serve to harden the resolve of the
population and unite them around their courageous
leadership.

WAS IT at all possible to conduct this war without
committing war crimes? When a government decides to hurl
its regular armed forces at a guerrilla organization,
which by its very nature fights from within the civilian
population, it is perfectly clear that terrible suffer-
ing will be caused to that population. The argument that
the harm caused to the population, and the killing of
over a thousand men, women and children was inevitable
should, by itself, have led to the conclusion that the
decision to start this was a terrible act right from the
beginning.

The Defense Establishment takes the easy way out. The
ministers and generals simply assert that they do not
believe the Palestinian and international reports about
the death and destruction, stating that they are, again
in Kasher's words, "mistaken and false". Just to be
sure, they decided to boycott the UN commission that
is currently investigating the war, headed by a respected
South African judge who is both a Jew and a Zionist.

Assa Kasher is adopting a similar attitude when he says:
"Somebody who does not know all the details of an action
cannot assess it in a serious, professional and responsible
way, and therefore should not do so, in spite of all
emotional or political temptations." He demands that we
wait until the Israeli army completes its investigations,
before we even discuss the matter.

Really? Every organization that investigates itself lacks
credibility, not to mention a hierarchical body like the
army. Moreover, the army does not – and cannot – obtain
testimony from the main eye-witnesses: the inhabitants of
Gaza. An investigation based only on the testimony of the
perpetrators, but not of the victims, is ridiculous. Now
even the testimonies of the soldiers of Breaking the
Silence are discounted, because they cannot disclose their
identity.

IN A war between a mighty army, equipped with the most
sophisticated weaponry in the world, and a guerrilla
organization, some basic ethical questions arise. How
should the soldiers behave when faced with a structure
in which there are not only enemy fighters, which they
are "allowed" to hit, but also unarmed civilians, which
they are "forbidden" to hit?

Kasher cites several such situations. For example: a
building in which there are both "terrorists" and non-
fighters. Should it be hit by aircraft or artillery
fire that will kill everybody, or should soldiers be
sent in who will risk their lives and kill only the
fighters? His answer: there is no justification for
the risking of the lives of our soldiers in order to
save the lives of enemy civilians. An aerial or artillery
attack must be preferred.

That does not answer the question about the use of the
Air Force to destroy hundreds of houses far enough from
our soldiers that there was no danger emanating from
them, nor about the killing of scores of recruits of the
Palestinian civilian police on parade, nor about the
killing of UN personnel in food supply convoys. Nor about
the illegal use of white phosphorus against civilians, as
described in the soldiers' testimonies gathered by Break-
ing the Silence, and the use of depleted uranium and other
carcinogenic substances.

The entire country experienced on live TV how a shell hit
the apartment of a doctor and wiped out almost all of his
family. According to the testimony of Palestinian civilians
and international observers, many such incidents took place.

The Israeli army took great pride in its method of warning
the inhabitants by means of leaflets, phone calls and such,
so as to induce them to flee. But everyone – and first of
all the warners themselves - knew that the civilians had
nowhere secure to escape to and that there were no clear
and safe escape routes. Indeed, many civilians were shot
while trying to flee.

WE SHALL not evade the hardest moral question of all: is it
permissible to risk the lives of our soldiers in order to
save the old people, women and children of the "enemy"?
The answer of Assa Kasher, the ideologue of the "Most
Moral Army in the World", is unequivocal: it is absolutely
forbidden to risk the lives of the soldiers. The most tell-
ing sentence in his entire essay is: "Therefore…the state
must give preference to the lives of its soldiers above
the lives of the (unarmed) neighbors of a terrorist."

These words should be read twice and three times, in order
to grasp their full implications. What is actually being
said here is: if necessary to avoid casualties among our
soldiers, it is better to kill enemy civilians without any
limit.

In retrospect, one can only be glad that the British
soldiers, who fought against the Irgun and the Stern
Group, did not have an ethical guide like Kasher.

This is the principle that guided the Israeli army in the
Gaza War, and, as far as I know, this is a new doctrine:
in order to avoid the loss of one single soldier of ours,
it is permissible to kill 10, 100 and even 1000 enemy
civilians. War without casualties on our side. The
numerical result bears witness: more than 1000 people
killed in Gaza, a third or two thirds of them (depending
on who you ask) civilians, women and children, as against
6 (six) Israeli soldiers killed by enemy fire. (Four more
were killed by "friendly" fire.)

Kasher states explicitly that it is justified to kill a
Palestinian child who is in the company of a hundred
"terrorists", because the "terrorists" might kill children
in Sderot. But in reality, it was a case of killing a
hundred children who were in the company of one "terrorist".

If we strip this doctrine of all ornaments, what remains
is a simple principle: the state must protect the lives
of its soldiers at any price, without any limit or law.
A war of zero casualties. That leads necessarily to a
tactic of killing every person and destroying every
building that could represent a danger to the soldiers,
creating an empty space in front of the advancing troops.

Only one conclusion can be drawn from this: from now on,
any Israeli decision to start a war in a built-up area is
a war crime, and the soldiers who rise up against this
crime should be honored. May they be blessed.

Sometimes it makes perfect sense for us to begin to ask the WHY and not WHAT.

Zimbabweans are hungry - fact

Zimbabwe's economy is in shambles - fact

However, the most important part of the equation is WHY is Zimbabwe suffering right now.

The WHY is far more important than the WHAT we see because any other African nation can suffer the same fate unless of course there are no natural resources those who are usually guilty of such in those countries.

Can we ask the WHY for just a split second?

@Lwandle,

Well stated.

From day one I have always supported Mugabe's position regardless of some of his mistakes because after all said and done he is bold enough to say no to slavery, theft of lands and racist induced policies.

Granted, as you stated this is not an event but a process. I believe that ultimately Zimbabweans will win and chart a course that no foreign nation can destroy.

Unfortunately, a lot of dependence on institutions like IMF, World bank etc is making it difficult for countries to survive unless these countries are ready to look inward and start a revolution that will have all the ingredients of a determined progressive nation that will produce what others would be willing to pay for.

Africans have what it takes to move this continent forward only if we can deal with the Western stooges planted in many countries and our own corrupt leaders.

A glance at the last posts in your profile is like walking through the leaves of a hate manual. Honest, do you hate yourself?

The same goes for bastage [formula = g to r, e to d. work it out yet?].
@Beaf,

Where do you get these crazy phrases like "scandalous pride" and "leaves of a hate manual"?

What did you just do? Provide links for them to check out so that they will realize that they have been floating on this topic since yesterday?

Na wahooo! You too good. For me, I prefer they remain where they are as far as intelligence and intellectual discussion go.

Abeg, make person no get heart attack for this forum based on the nonsense some of these people put down.

I guess transferring N250M from Awka to Lagos (Obi's office) in the dead of the night is part of the fiscal responsibility Iweala is preaching?

Hahaha!! So true, like Dingo Dog's boyfriend that has no point and is just using isults to look for somoeone to engage with.
Funny enough people like that forget that this is 2009 and that such strategies don't work any longer.

To them, starting a discussion with words like "Look at this bastard", "You this idiot", "Fool what do you know?" seems like the best bet to gain an upper hand as they wrongly assume that people may just ignore the insults just as Tudor himself queried when he stated I should have overlooked his insults as a decent man (in the process admitting he is certainly not decent).

With time they will learn that insults won't get them any where in life and certainly not on a discussion forum.

Whatever happened to logic, facts, common sense etc?
Foreign AffairsRe: Israel Admits Its Lies In The Killing Of Palestines. by Afam(m): 5:12pm On Jul 22, 2009
I don't think the issue of Israel using human shields in its war with either Hamas or Hezbollah has been reported (unless I missed it) so it may not be the best bet to stick to this line of thought.

However, the killing of any innocent person by any one, group or nation is wrong regardless of the race, religion and gender of those killed.

So, Hamas is as guilty as Israel when it comes to killing innocent people.

Let us not divert attention to other irrelevant issues as regards the topic as many of the topics of this nature have fallen by the wayside by using diversionary tactics.

@Dede1,

Thanks for the information you have been making available.

Thus far, it is pretty obvious that Negro_Ntns is incapable of defending statements he made, even his questions when answered bring up inconsistencies that he usually ignores but would be quick to bring up other questions no matter how misleading or irrelevant.

Needless to state this, he is incapable of any intellectual discourse on this rather he prefers the tribal and ethnic angle while sowing and spreading hate.

@Negro_Ntns,

Better start defending your posts as it is becoming clearer by the day that the many lies are being exposed one after the other.

Lies will always fall like a pack of cards, any day anytime.

Hi Afam, thanks for that. I have been thing of that too. Only that I wanted a clean design that is not too thick - since it picture rich.

Anyway, I will try a darker colour for the background. I will keep you posted.
I meant empty space not necessarily the background color.

In any case you should do what makes sense to you as my opinions may not be your opinion and when it comes to the web one man's meat may as well be another man's poison.

I bet you still live in the lulu world of good vs bad of the American era where all good is done by america and its allies and all evil is by who ever is against them. You know the brainwash sample scenario, where any American soldier will run into heavy firing to save a child from the enemy side and are always nice. But the enemy is ruthless and heartless.

Get some tissue and wipe the drool running down the side of your mouth. Retard!
Unfortunately, this is the case with some people on this forum, point out any wrong doing by the US or Israel and you become guilty of US bashing and/or anti semitism.

I wonder when we will be bold enough to blame when there is a reason to blame and praise when there is a reason to do so instead of this idea of total commendation and condemnation we see depending on the religion, race or nation in question.

@ negro ntns

1. The reason for the failure of the assassination of Sir. Michael Okpara was the fact that the then leader of Greece Archbishop Makarios was a guest of Okpara and was in the same room with him when the squad sent to "off" caught up with him. Makarios reportedly stood between him and the assassins and stated that if Okpara was to be killed then he would have to be killed as well. The soldiers not knowing how to approach it beat a retreat to finish him off later. Feel free to research this
If the quote above is a fact then let us expect a response from Negro_Ntns that would be close to the one below

Maybe the Igbos colluded with the Archbishop to be in the same room with late Okpara so as not to kill the man just as the Igbos asked Zik to travel out of the country.

russellino:
I also forgot to add that Lt.Col Arthur Unegbe (an igbo man) the Quarter Master General was shot by the plotters when he refused to hand over the keys to the armoury to them
Gradually information that may have been left out of the FG investigation and report that Negro_Ntns wants everyone to believe as the most authentic source of information are beginning to surface. Of course, including such information would do more harm than good to the theory that the Igbos did everything to favor the Igbos.
WebmastersRe: Importance Of Mobile Web - My Experience Today by Afam(m): 11:45am On Jul 22, 2009
I agree with the poster. However, with all due respect you can set up a complete mobile website in a day or two. The high level of efficiency and speed that one has should not be used against the person when making our points.

You can become very fast and efficient in doing something just by doing that thing over and over again. So, that Mr A takes 3 days to do what Mr B takes 20 days to do should not mean that Mr A doesn't know what he is doing.

Mobile Solutions Overview

It is a fact that we have over 15 mobile phones for every computer whether desktop or laptop in the world. The ratio will be more like 1000 mobile phones for every computer in Nigeria.

It is also true that for many people even in the rural villages the mobile phone may be the closest they will come as regards using a computer. So, why stop at developing websites for a limited number of people who may need to be in front of their computers or laptops when you can make the same information available to everyone that has a mobile phone and there are indeed many of them.

What does it take to develop your own mobile website that could be accessed via a mobile phone? Not much really. Content, pictures, money and in a matter of days anyone with a mobile phone in the whole world can view your website even if they do not have computers or internet access.

All that is required is a mobile phone with GPRS capability.

Good luck.

Afam wait here,

Is it very difficult for you to accept the truth? Does it matter which people they are fighting in this context ?
The isuue is they are fighting wars, so you only have to accept that fact. (unless you have hatred for them)
Maybe I failed to make myself clear. Who is lending these monies that they keep borrowing?

Who will not afford the basic things of life if he/she can access unlimited loans that may never be paid back?

There are people 9not just government) in the US that keep borrowing money until they die without repaying the money.

Do you think a lot of Nigerians will be complaining today if the government can afford to borrow trillions of dollars and Nigerians can access loans 9never mind if they will pay back or not) to buy food, houses, cars, electronics etc?

Sam Milla:
What a lame comment from a Man of Your Intelligence

Isnt that called Business.
They never robbeed your bank or oil. They buy them.
I agree it is business that is why we should stop collecting the aids and more importantly why they should stop deceiving people with such aids.

We need access to fair trade not aids. Those at the WTC will always come up with policies to defend and protect the products of the developed nations while making it difficult for the developing nations to do business on a level playing field.

This is not a blame game against the West neither is it an excuse for the purposeless leadership we have in this country based on the reality today. I am just pointing out some reasons why the West may be seen as doing well as regards access to unlimited loans and insincerity in trades.
