Tudór:Please stick to the issues and stop bringing in my name in your myopic posts as it is obvious you don't have a good understanding of what you usually dabble into. |
na_so:Thanks for the links. I no fit shout! He has no business talking about Igbo presidency in my opinion. |
The Biafran cause was like a can of mixed nuts. Thousands of Ijo, Annang, Ogoni, Ibibio etc believed in the cause and fought hard for it to the end. I mus say that the biggest traitors to the Biafran cause were the likes of Ike Nwachukwu and Ukpabi Asika (My humble opinion). It's a little bizarre that Nwachukwu's been parading himself lately as the "Quota" for "Igbo Presidency". . . whatever that means.Did Ike Nwachukwu fight on the Biafran side, Nigeria side or was he in any of the armies during the Biafran war? What was his rank and position if he played a role in the war? |
Beaf: na_so:No wahala. You know this tribal issue is getting out of hand so I try not to dabble into it. I believe people can agree or disagree on any issue under the sun without pulling daggars or guns as long as there is mutual respect. Meanwhile, you fit begin use the word Igbo and not Ibo? Ibo is a bastardized form of the word and the real word is Igbo. So, wetin Ike Nwachukwu name dey do for hia? |
na_so:I am not the type that advocate tribal supremacy. I only contribute on topics to clarify or correct any misinformation I can correct. I have never and will never call Boro a crook so get your facts right when asking me questions as I don't play the tribal game. What's with Ike Nwachukwu? I must confess that I don't understand what his name is doing here at the moment. |
akigbemaru:I hope something has not happened to our history because the way people turn the truth on its head is alarming. NPN ke? Are you are that though NPN had an Igbo vice president that his own state was controlled by the NPP with Jim Nwobodo as the governor until NPN rigged him out of office in 1983? Now, you know you may now understand why Jim was not in support of Ekwueme at the Jos convention because Ekwueme supported Shagari and fought NPP just to acquire power. Even Ojukwu when he was pardoned joined NPN but his state was in the hands of NPP. This should tell you that when it comes to politics or leadership the Igbos do not take instructions from a single person, they do what is best for them considering the circumstances. |
udezue:This is not a matter of North vs East or Muslims vs Christians. The East cannot and should not waste any innocent live of any Northerner or Muslim considering the fact that for the first time in this country the government took decisive action against Islamic fundamentalists even though they may have done so to protect some interests but the good thing is that with reactions like these from the FG then the era of some people waking up and killing people based on religious or tribal reasons may be one its way out of the North for good. If the leader of the sect or his followers had some presence in the East and nothing was done then it would make sense to wonder why they are still alive and well after what their people did to others in the North. I am for "do me I do you" but in doing so innocent people should not pay the supreme price for what others did. |
In fact, someone must have toyed with the air inside that hall. How can a whole Mugabe sleep just like that? Maybe he was meditating sha. ![]() |
Interesting articles. As the writer stated, many journalists in Nigeria cannot publish what their ogas in their companies want them to publish and that is a shame. Thanks for the internet sha. |
Dede1:No wahala, we hope to turn this country around for the better. The darkest period of the night they say, is just before dawn. |
MrCrackles:An idiot? Just because you think it is publicity stunt? MrCrackles, this is not fair at all. You better pass this statement my friend. |
Ibime:It is either the opposition party fought the armed men intimidating them and over powered them or that Mugabe was not desperate to rig the election to remain in power based on the information majority of the Western media sold to the world. You cannot have complete control of the armed forces, electoral process, media and still come out of an election with less than 10% separating you and your main opponent. That is not how dictators that are desperate to remain in power do. Ask around. For the simple fact that the opposition had more than 40% of the votes it shows that you have people supporting the opposition, that Mugabe was not desperate for power by bothering with rigging and that the election was both free and fair. Even in a place like Iran where pre, during and post election polls showed that Ahmedinejad had 2/3 of the votes the demonstration led by the opposition was given enough airtime to the extent that many would wrongly believe that the opposition won the election or that the people carrying out the demonstration represented a significant number of Iranians. |
Hello, I setup a pet project some months ago and have not really done anything on the project since it was uploaded due to time. Now there are requests from people on the project and I am really not sure how to proceed. What in your opinion makes the most sense as regards having the website remain as it is (a large all encompassing site) or carving out the different state mini sites from the main website since all the information needed for the mini sites is already in the main website? The address is www.ijann.com Please, let the responses address the question asked. Messages may also be sent using to afam@justwebservices.com Thanks for your time. |
@Ibime, Ok ooo, I thought you were against the land reform stuff. Now that it is out of the way let us look at the election proper. It is hard to see opposition candidates welcoming defeats in elections so the shouting of election rigging by the opposition leader is neither new nor strange. However, my point is that Mugabe was reported to have barred foreign observers, intimidated voters, had complete control over the electoral process and yet we did not see more than 10% difference in the election result. To me it is not possible for one that is accused of all those things to be doing a run off in any election. Even Ghana did a run off the other time and yet they don't have a Mugabe. If people are beaten, killed indiscriminately as alleged by the foreign media tell me how they will be bold enough to take part in any election. Or, what are they waiting for before carrying out a revolution since they are more or less about the same number of people that support Mugabe. Your friend's story cannot be used to judge Mugabe. There is no single fact that proves that Mugabe stole or rigged the election that is my point. Enjoy the weekend ahead. |
Ibime:The content in bold refers, stop playing games with words and stop making unnecessary accusations because I clearly pointed out that Mugabe made mistakes and had short comings so talking about shutting one's eyes to anything don't make sense here. As to your friend's case I am sure you have Nigerians sending money to their loved ones in Nigeria from foreign nations and I am sure Mugabe isn't our president so to use that to justify anything won't fly my dear friend. Ibime:Can you state when the reversal of the lands started and when it became a problem? I guess that will help dispel some of the propaganda. In any case, in any country where you have governments in power and opposition it is normal for the government to favor those who support them more than they will favor those in opposition. This is reality. happens even in the US just in case we begin to talk about advanced democracies here. Ibime:Is the problem in Zimbabwe purely based on the land reversal policy or a calculated attempt by Western nations to strangle the economy of the nation based on Mugabe not doing their bidding? Even world leading economies will all the access they have to unlimited loans and facilities from bodies like World bank and IMF are having serious problems and yet you fail to understand why Zimbabwe is having problems even when access to all financial deals were denied the country while developed nations still needed those funds. I am not blind to Mugabe's problems, actions and inactions. I am only looking at the "why" and not the "what" in this case because what is happening there may happen here one day when we have a leader that will be courageous enough to do what benefits Nigerians the most and not foreign powers. Not long ago some countries fed the world with lies, misinformation and propaganda about Saddam and WMDs and used those lies to invade a sovereign nation and in the process wasted a lot of innocent lives and left the country in a state of complete mess where unprecedented sectarian violence has shattered the controlled peace that existed in that country under Saddam. |
Ibime:And Mugabe does not believe in resource control and justice based on what he did? My dear I no fit shout for wetin you write up there. Ibime:Any proof that he rigged the election? That was my earlier question and I am repeating it here again. No dictator who has absolute control over the election process and the armed forces in a country would allow his opponent smell anything close to 40% in any election let alone score enough to warrant a run off election. Ask around and you will find out how dictators conduct elections - Saddam usually won elections with over 90%. If the opposition leader had any serious grass root support and not just some countries outside Zimbabwe funding and supporting him he would have done better. The moment support from Mugabe drops to an appreciable level there will be uprising even from within the armed forces. Please, my friend stop thinking about the propaganda the West sells to you about Mugabe because they will never support anyone or anything that tries to right the wrongs of the past. Mugabe is a true African hero in spite of his mistakes and short comings, I only hope that more African leaders will be bold enough to take actions that favor the citizens of their countries and not just being stooges of some Western nations where instructions and dictations are being sent out from say 10 Downing Street or the White House. Africa as a continent has the worlds best natural resources but its people suffer in poverty and this shouldn't be so. Separate the facts from propaganda and fiction abeg. |
The suit is in order as we see a lot of organisations and institutions rip people off while making promises they may never fulfill. People face the same thing here where IT training outfits advertise dream jobs for people that go through the schools. When I talk to people wanting to enroll I ask them to tell the school to offer them scholarships and recoup the money when they must have provided jobs after graduation since they are so sure of providing jobs for them. People get away with a lot of things and it is certainly not right. However, in this case only the actual terms of the contract would matter so if for some reasons the promise for a job was not written down in black and white or if the loan so collected was never tied to the condition of a job then she will only succeed in drawing attention to schools and training outfits with promises of jobs after graduation and people would be wiser going forward. |
Ibime:Any proof that Mugabe rigged either the first election or the run off? We seem to forget that Mugabe has supporters in Zimbabwe ranging from civilians to the armed forces who are happy with the reversal and retrieving of lands stolen by the whites that invaded, killed and seized lands belonging to blacks in their own country. |
Dede1:Dede1, this issue of Ribadu is not about as far as you are concerned, it is about what happened and what changed when he was in charge of the EFCC. Ribadu made it possible for Nigerians to know that indeed you can tackle corruption if you wanted to. Given the state of things in Nigeria today I believe even if his rapid promotion took him to the position of IGP with the same fight against corruption Nigeria would have been a much better place at least in the area of corruption. Dede1:Quote one single person that is trying to make a saint out of Ribadu on this thread or on any thread for that matter. Such blanket statement should not be coming from you regardless of how you may dislike or hate Ribadu. Nigeria to those living in the country is not a jungle and I believe it is unfair for you to keep referring to Nigeria as a jungle as it amounts to insulting the people that live in the country. We can make our points both for or against anything without wahala. |
Each time I think about the embarrassing state of our power supply in this country when we have a lot of alternatives I feel bad. Then each time the government talks about one form of partnership with one foreign country or the other just to generate energy feeling bad turns into anger as it is pretty obvious that those that are responsible for energy and power in this country are clueless and confused or that they really know what they are doing and doing these things deliberately just to achieve a preset goal. Energy is a moving target and energy produced must be used up immediately or stored in say a battery but we all know that we do not have gigantic batteries any where in the world to store energy in the range of MW. So, can Nigeria generate enough electricity today? Yes. Will Nigeria generate enough electricity today? Only God knows because there is a disconnect between the promises being made by our leaders and the effort on ground to deliver on the promises made. About 40% of the electricity being produced in the US is from coal fired power plants with a population that is less than twice our own yet we have very high quality coal wasting in Enugu due to some stupid tribal politics and we cannot boast of a decent supply of electricity. We have abundant sun, wind and even tidal waves to generate electricity from depending on the area not to talk about gas fired power stations and gas is still being flared every day. What is really wrong with our people? Why should we want in the midst of plenty? I did do some write ups on some energy related issues some years ago and if you have time you may take a look at them. +++++++++++++++++++====== The president's position on alternative energy - not in our own best interest - http://justalternativepower.com/article_detail.php?id=4 Nigeria Power Problem - Why Energy Conservation Is A Must - http://justalternativepower.com/article_detail.php?id=3 Nigeria Energy Problem; common sense and relevant knowledge needed - http://justalternativepower.com/article_detail.php?id=14 Government's estimate on energy need, very faulty - http://justalternativepower.com/article_detail.php?id=13 |
First things first, let us separate the facts from lies and fiction. Ghana does not have steady power supply and there are Ghanaians today who do not have access to electricity. Even though Ghana sustained a lie and went on to celebrate 10 years of steady power supply the facts show that such claim was a blatant lie. A BBC sponsored online program gave a lot of Ghanaians the opportunity to air their views and some of them confirmed that they do not have access to regular electricity. Now that the lies are out of the way, which way Nigeria? Unfortunately, politics, corruption and greedy will continue to sustain the status quo as regards the state of power supply in Nigeria unless something drastic happens. We have more than enough resources both human and natural to generate all the electricity we need in this country. Why we are not doing this right now is what I fail to understand and sometimes I am forced to believe that we have a lot of incompetent, corrupt and wicked people in power taking decisions on our behalf. |
Arabambi1:I object to the content in bold because I have only made comments here to correct wrong statements that even the poster admitted were mistakes even though I know from experience that most of those things he called mistakes were not mistakes. If however, you call my pointing to articles on the website that have deliberated on some of the issues raised here as advertisement or marketing strategies then it is rather unfortunate. My signature has my personal website instead of the alternative energy website and yet I am advertising the inverter? I cannot see someone providing misleading information about my product without defending the product because generalization of the any problem is wrong. Information I made available are based on facts, facts that you can verify from any knowledgeable person in energy business or power related business. I have written well circulated articles bothering on the president's position on alternative energy being wrong and issues concerning energy efficiency and how we cannot solve our energy problems without a strong energy efficiency program by the government so I have gone beyond inverters as they are just a small part of the solution to our energy problem as a lot of people are beginning to realize now. I cannot even provide inverters for say 5% of businesses on the street where my office is located assuming they come with cash today due to our manufacturing process so why would I not welcome or even encourage others to provide reliable services to Nigerians. There are a lot of failed projects out there and these have made the adoption of backup solutions slow or even declining and it is not right because if things are done properly a great number of people would have been using inverters today. I have heard of quite a number of cases from people who nearly had their homes set on fire just because they got inverter backup systems. Inverter systems require sound knowledge about the following Inverter topology and technology Battery type, life span and charging profiles Charging algorithms Type of transistors used, their characteristics that may perform differently under different conditions eg longer backup times down here vs shorter backup times in most of the foreign nations that produce them Ease of use, maintenance and repairs or replacement parts Generally speaking battery chargers with reasonable charging currents are more expensive to produce hence the reason for a lot of mass produced inverters coming with poor charging currents (maybe it is because they have basically steady power supplies there so even if it takes over 24 hrs to recharge a battery bank its no big deal but down here it becomes a major problem). Also, control mechanisms and safety features lead to extra components and extra components cost money leading to more expensive inverters. And in the market, cost is always an issue so a lot of compromises are made so you get the see units sacrificing one thing over the other. So, I am not here to advertise anything but I will be very happy if you arm yourself with all the information you need so that you can ask your provider the right questions before paying for anything. Arabambi1:You can use a generator to charge the battery. You can even use solar panels or a small wind turbine to charge your battery. Anything that generates current that is at a higher potential than your battery voltage will charge the battery. However, you must have charge controllers to prevent damage to your battery whether through over charging or excessive discharge when drawing power from the battery bank. |

cre8tivity:This article was written in January 7th, 2008, can we know the result of the probe? Or, were those allegations part of the embarrassment those responsible for the article suffered when it was proved that the allegations were mere lies? |
Thanks for your responses thus far. It is obvious you are the one benefiting from the exchanges because the same things you shamelessly asked me to educate you about yesterday are the same things you are learning. With all due respect I must state that from the very first post you made on this thread it was clear you were a fraud because what you call a mistake is definitely not a mistake by any means. Take a good look at every single line in your first post and tell me why you should not be seen as a complete fraud looking for someone to scam. Every single inverter capacity you put down had a price tag with battery. Is this the mistake? If yes, then it is also safe to assume that you can sell someone rubbish and when the solution packs up you tell the person it's another mistake. Shame on you. lightofjoy:For your information, I do not have a single inverter that was built that is unusable and that's a record I intend to keep for a long time to come, hence the reason for my rejecting majority of partnerships from some inverter manufacturers with one having an installed production capacity of 10,000 inverters per day from 3 production facilities in India, China and USA. So, continue swimming in the ocean of ignorance, thank God you have provided enough information to expose your ignorance on the issue you just dabbled into. Why don't you repeat on this forum what you requested me to do for you as regards educating you on inverters yesterday? Repeat it here and lets see if you have no shame. |
Dis Guy:Goes to show the sorry state of the web development industry and the low level of adoption of basic professionalism when it comes to web technologies. Sometimes you get to see web developers advertising their services using free email accounts without realizing that any free email account can be suspended or deleted at any time and without any notice if the provider wants to do so.

|
lightofjoy:I admit, I have little or no knowledge about the brand of inverter you are talking about so the ball is in your court, what is the brand? State the name or brand of the inverter and other people will verify on their own. You have this brand and what people need to do to access the brand is call you on a GSM line without any office address or any contact information other than a username on a public forum and a yahoo userID (from the yahoo chat you initiated yesterday). lightofjoy:The content in bold refers, if the poster has any form of decency he would have stated that the issue of charging problem has nothing to do with whether the inverter is locally built or imported but has everything to do with cost of implementing a control mechanism, insufficient charging amps based on knowledge and experience and the understanding of the prevalent operating conditions of typical inverter systems. The comment on warranty is at best laughable as even container loads of inverters usually come with say very small number of replacement parts. Anyone can contact some of these inverter manufacturers on the web and inquire about distributorship or dealership so this is pretty easy to understand for anyone wanting to get the facts. lightofjoy:I have rejected contracts from top banks in this country to revamp the same inverters you brag about and these contracts run into a couple of hundreds of millions of naira based on principle and professionalism so don't even dare to talk nonsense. Obviously, you know nothing about problems some of the banks are having with their inverter backup systems ranging from inverters to the batteries used. Now, Mr Consultant, what is your name? How can one contact you if he needs to purchase your inverter? What is the brand of this inverter? You call yourself a consultant and yet you offer a 5KVA inverter with a battery for N185,000.00 only to come back to talk nonsense when I pointed it out that you were 100% wrong. In any case, my responses are not meant to condemn imported inverters as I have seen very few of them that have come with good charging algorithms and I am proud to be part of the people that talked the dealers into insisting on the manufacturers to change the design. I cannot even handle the number of orders for inverters so how on earth will I be interested in marketing or selling my inverters using a forum on a thread started by someone that has shown he is not only inconsistent but also knows very little about what he is talking about. As at today I have opened up the company website to allow other manufacturers, distributors and dealers showcase their products so that customers I may not have the time to handle would have other options. Is this what someone who is desperate to compete will do? All in all, the readers here will have access to more information which is very good. I sincerely hope that all cowboys in the alternative energy business will be more open so that sophisticated customers will expose them by asking them relevant questions. |
lightofjoy:I am making this post to correct some of the lies this guy is spreading maybe out of ignorance. 1. One year warranty on imported inverters don't mean much because most of them are microprocessor based and the bulk of the components are highly integrated at the card level with many of the control algorithms implemented in software. Now, that is all nice and cool until something goes wrong and you just realize that the dealers cannot service or repair the units and even with the 1 year warranty you may have to take the unit to the manufacturer who may be in India, USA or China. Trust me someone would pay for the transportation including applicable charges and duties and that someone is usually the end user. In some cases the cost of the transportation and charges (assuming the warranty is really enforceable) is over 60 - 70% of the cost of the inverter. Compare this to locally built inverter where the discrete components are built using the old but very reliable way. A problem of say N4,000.00 worth of component can be sorted out without problems. But with an imported inverter with integrated components a problem of say N4,000.00 worth of component may require an entire replacement of the card itself because the know how and tools required to tamper with the integrated components on the card may be lacking. This is the reality. Power Inverters - It is all about enforceable warranties - http://justalternativepower.com/article_detail.php?id=7 2. On chargers I believe I have written extensively on that. However, let me state that in the past 2 - 3 years I have had discussions with some major inverter manufacturers from many countries and all the inverters (but one from a company) have issues with their charging algorithms and because most of the information about these inverters are usually printed on their catalogs it was easy for me to prove to them why a typical user in Nigeria would require between 18 - 26 hrs to recharge a typical battery bank. This is why a lot of batteries die in service. Contrary to what this poster is feeding you guys these batteries die because they were consistently being under charged since we really do not have up to say 20 hrs everyday to charge our batteries. On the flip side you can also kill these batteries by over charging them. This usually happens when there are no charge controllers built into the charging mechanism so there is nothing to tell the charger to stop charging when the battery is fully charged. Put differently, you can kill a battery by either under charging it or over charging it only that over charging kills the battery faster. All our battery chargers come with control mechanisms to control the charging process. We deal with battery dealers who for over 3 - 4 years now have never had issues with a damaged battery due to charging problems and the result is that on rare occasions where a battery is deemed faulty even after deployment the battery is replaced immediately, something that is almost impossible to see in the market where even at the international level there is usually no warranties on batteries. Inverter backup - Battery charger, the weakest link - http://justalternativepower.com/article_detail.php?id=6 You may also want to read the following article to learn more about these inverter based solutions Inverter backup systems - Nightmares or success stories? - http://justalternativepower.com/article_detail.php?id=9 In conclusion, I believe that in the near future many Nigerians will make up their minds on backup solutions that make sense based on relevant and factual information because in reality it is not in all cases an inverter backup makes sense. Sorry for the long post but from experience I know that the more the potential clients know about these things the better the buying decision process will be as they will be equipped with the right knowledge and of course they will ask the right questions to ensure they are not being shortchanged. Unfortunately, in spite of trying to push relevant information out to Nigerians we still have many failed inverter projects out there thanks to service providers who do not have relevant knowledge about this or service providers who will gladly promise anything just to have the money paid for an inverter backup system whether the system will work or not. It is all about maintaining a very high level of professional integrity in business. |
yawa-ti-de:Don't think a "one size fits all" solution works in most organisations that have business processes they want to automate or turn into a software. Also a lot of serious businesses really do not focus on network based websites as they focus on their core competences. Toyota is not running a facebook like website neither is Cocacola trying to be like twitter. Bottomline? Those who have programming skills are in high demand and they make a lot of money because they are not many. Smart clients may know how to google but as they say person wey no sabi book no fit carry expo because e no go even know when e see the correct or wrong answer. This is also akin to saying that I can learn how to manufacture a shoe or learn how to grow my own food or even build my own car instead of trusting those who do that well to provide them while I pay for them. There is a place for every single skill and what a company may prefer may be frowned at by another company even on the same building. |

cre8tivity:Thank God you don't have the powers to think for people. I am happy that over 90% of respondents on this thread have refused to believe your lies about Ribadu. cre8tivity:Ask the Nigeria Police to inform the Interpol on this. Ask the FG to tell other countries to arrest him based on your concocted lies. Stop wasting valuable space on this forum. How many times will people ask you to state his crime that makes you call Ribadu a criminal? What is that crime that those desperate to deal with him have not gone to the market to sell to Nigerians with just to prove that they have a case against him? As Ribadu stated "When you fight corruption, corruption fights back" and I can boldly state that your many lies about this man are part of corruption fighting back but you will never prevail because darkness and light no get business. |
kaecy5:While I agree with the cost of running a business in Nigeria especially if you require electricity I make bold to say that businesses can have access to backup solutions or even generate their own electricity if they wanted to considering the cost of running generators. However, many business owners are either ignorant of the alternatives out there or they don't really care as long as the generator is firing. I honestly believe that it is rather unfortunate that in this age and time businesses would be closing shop just because of power issues. |
