IGBOSON1: Afam, it's that section of road in Independence layout that stretches right from Chime avenue right up to (if my memory serves me right) the road that branches off to Hotel Presidential!
It's the first bit of road shown from the beginning of the attached Youtube clip.
I actually used that road a couple of times, most recently last week but never knew that was the Bissala road tat i've been hearing about. Infact, i even did a youtube video driving along that road in december of last year.
IGBOSON1: I don't know why Bisala rd, independence layout is the only major road the gov't goes out of its way to beautify! Visitors coming to a city for the first time make their first impressions of the place based not only on the airport they land in, but the major highway leading from the airport!
Looking at that those pics of the road leading to/from AIIA Enugu, there's so much more i could have done to make it stand out had i been the one incharge! All it needs is trees planted on both sides of the roads; carpet-grass the median and plant shrubs at measured intervals for uniformity (kinda like you see on Bisala rd); sidewalks on either side; and a prominent sculpture or two where space permits! Of course there should also be working traffic lights and other road furniture as a necessity!
The fast time i landed at Akanu Ibiam about a decade ago, we passed through Emene which had bad roads as not visually appealing but last december, we passed through another road which brought us right around New Haven which wasn't that bad.
Awka has the potential to become the first world class city in Igboland if well planned. Those 3 bridges you meet when coming from Onitsha are good to the eyes.
ckenneths: You mean this Sir? This was a Federal project, but the link to Abakaliki on the interchange was done by Sullivan Chime.
I went to Abakaliki last week from Enugu and the road, despite being a one lane road was very good. The driver told me it was done by Dave Umahi but i found it hard to believe that.
Pls Mods, i don't know what section to put this, so be free to move to the appropriate category.
I'm sure you guys have noticed a trend in the last decade and this trend keeps getting worse by the day.
I think it started with bus conductors always asking to make sure you have change before you enter the bus. In Lagos, they'll tell you "Wole pelu change ee" which translates to 'Enter with your change'.
I have been experiencing this with bus conductors in the past and it did not get to me as much as it is recently because even private organizations have joined the trend. Infact, everyone has joined.
It's no longer enough that you have money to pay for a service or buy a product, you now need to have change before you can be attended to.
This brings me to the question:
Have we become lazy as Nigerians?
In the past, all you needed to do was to pay for a service and whoever in charge will move to the end of the world to look for change. But these days, the laziness is appalling to say the least.
How will a business rather not sell an item because there's no change. if this isn't laziness, i don't know what is.
zicoraads: There's no big deal about this movie to be honest. I've seen better.
I started watching it, but haven't found the time to finish it.
It got to where it got to because of who was in charge of it. The surprise would have been if the movie actually won any prize. The whites mostly don't allow sentiments becloud their sense of reasoning in matters like these.
These celebrities are just whinning because it's Genevieve's.
The movie is one of the best produced Nigerian movie but the entertainment value is not there. But awards like the Oscars are not looking for entertainment value. They're looking for a good story and depth. I also found it boring btw just like a lot of other oscar award winning movies.
and some nincompoops were mocking Tacha's endorsement..
meanwhile theirs fave, is busy faking endorsement with obsessed Cubana..such a desperado!
why should a so-called winner stoop so low just to compete with a disqualified housemate?
tueh!
Nobody cares about Tacha's endorsement. I didn't know she was even endorsed because i don't give a rats ass about her life. Ya'll are the ones trying to hard to put your queen on Mercy's level and e dey pain una say where she dey too high for una.
The thing go pain una till una begin dey kill una self. Buncha unruly kids with 10MB of data gallivanting the internet and advertising their stupidity like their role model.
Kennyswagz1: abeg I can't argue.. you know I ain't lying.. development is not about building only the capitals, it should be spread as it is done in Europe..
Maybe you can start by telling us how development is spread out in Nigeria.
Kennyswagz1: for the last time, there is nothing happening in those countries you mention..outside their capital's, the rest part of the countries are undeveloped... in Europe and America, development is evenly distributed (i.e it is not focused on one place).. but in Africa, with the exemption of south africa and north Africa, development is mainly concentrated in the capitals leaving other parts to remain slums...
It seems like you want to choke in ignorance. I won't be surprised if you've never crossed the shores f Nigeria to make such uninformed statements.
Kennyswagz1: Egypt is developed because they are mixed with alot of white living in the country... and apart from nairobi, there is nothing in Kenya.. don't mention Rwanda and Botswana cause nothing is happening there..
This is a really ignorant thing to say. Countries like Ghana, Kenya and Rwanda have made giant strides without white people. They just mae their countries attractive by putting the very basic things into place. Nigeria should also do the same.
I won't be surprised if most of those tweets are from Ronaldo fans. Very soon we will hear that Ronaldo is better than Messi becomes he cleans the dressing room after playing a match.
Agugbadin: Bayelsa and Delta cannot survive, Delta State IGR dropped since the exit of shell and Uduaghan emptied the state before leaving also Uduaghan left huge debt for his successor. Bayelsa spend huge money on payment of salary as it is the major employer of labour. Secondly infrastructural development in Bayelsa state is more expensive than any other state in Nigeria due to the topography of the state.
When they mentioned Riverrs and Akwa Ibom, the were mostly talking about oil economy and not IGR. What IGR does Akwa Ibom have?
Right now, only Lagos can survive without allocation. If Rivers and Akwa Ibom can survive without allocation then it means Bayelsa and Delta cn also survive.
I'm surprised they did not mention Anambra because that state can survive without allocation. Infact, every state can survive wthout allocatio as long as they put their thinking cap on and get to work.
Abagworo: A million AMEN!! Okorocha handed over a beautiful State to Ihedioha.
I like how you like posting this spibat road as if that's the only road in owerri. Infact, that road is beginning to give way, so you may as well give us an updated picture of the road.
Please, do not set your foot in Owerri when it rains. The roads are probably the worse in the world. There are hardly good roads in that town. The only one i can think of is Bank Road all the way through IMSU junction down to Orji bridge. Tonye is spot on.
