So the corruption should continue unchecked? This kind mentality is the reason for politicians to loot without fear of consequences. The Ijaw youths are leading the charge... why not follow or support? Is the corruption not affecting other tribes? Just like #Endsars... we are tired of complaining and seeing no results ... this year marks the beginning of taking physical actions. Politicians must now do right by force.
Why did they not lead the charge when an Ijaw man was at the helm? The problem here is not corruption but the fact that they're not benefitting as much as they would have liked. It's a recurring decimal that i have seen happen again and again.

Why is it that when Ijaws are not at the helm of affairs in anything concerning the Niger Delta, they get angry? Akpabio may not be a saint but he isn't different from every other person that has occupied that position.

CultureRe: Is Brazil The Most Similar Country To African Countries? by Afam4eva(m): 9:52am On Dec 28, 2020
RedboneSmith:
According to the 2010 census, 15 million Brazilians identify as Black. That number is many times more, if we add people who are part-Black to that number (as they do in the US.)

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-latin-america-15766840#:~:text=For%20the%20first%20time%2C%20non,2000%20to%2047.7%25%20last%20year.
The one drop rule does not apply in every country as they do in America. That's why Dominicans don't like being called Black. It could be brainwashing but that's just how they see themselves. if 15 million Brazilians say that they are black then that's the number of black people in Brazil. Mulatos don't really consider themselves black.
CultureRe: Is Brazil The Most Similar Country To African Countries? by Afam4eva(m): 9:48am On Dec 28, 2020
RedboneSmith:
One might say Haiti, probably because Haiti is an all-Black country, in contrast to Brazil which has other racial groups.

However, in terms of sheer number there are still more black people in Brazil than in Haiti.

And although Haiti still has its voodoo, no country outside Africa has successfully retained a vibrant African religion and culture like Brazil, where the orixas (orishas) are alive and kicking, and where a semblance of the Yoruba language, at least for liturgical purposes, have survived. I will even argue that in terms of maintaining ancestral religions, Brazil is even more African than many African countries.
The OP is talking of similarities rather than numbers and similarities can range from looks to way of life and no country outside of Africa has that more than Haiti. When you see an average Haitian, you would think they're Africans unlike Brazilian blacks that come in different color tone.

Also, according to DNA testing, Haitians have the highest percentage of African blood than any country. It typically ranges from 97% to 100% unlike other countries that there blacks can have as low as 80% African ancestry.

You made a strong argument there that puts in the trash bin that Owerri is full of prostitutes because there are many universities in the city. The question that people who belong to this school of thought is, does Owerri have the highest number of higher institutions among all Nigerian cities? The answer is NO. While higher institutions can feed the hospitality business, it is not a cause of it.

In my opinion, prostitution in Owerri is not worse off than other places. The only reason it seems so is because not much apart from hotels and bars is happening in Owerri. The moment industries start coming to Owerri, you won't even notice the so called prostitution as much.

Get your facts right, Imo poly is in ohaji Egbema LGA and not in Owerri
There's a difference between a city and a local government. A city can have some or all part of several local government. For example owerri covers Owerri Municipal, Owerri North, Owerri West and even some parts of Mbaitoli such as Ogbaku can be described as being part of greater Owerri area. Imo Poly is in Umuagwo in Ohaji which is not far from Owerri.

Christianity EtcRe: What Is The Role Of Santa Claus In Christianity And Christmas? by Afam4eva(m): 8:32am On Dec 20, 2020
Santa Claus has nothing to do with Christianity. It's just a western culture that has been imbibed into the Christmas celebration. In the same vein, Christmas itself has nothing to do with Christianity. It's just a day set aside y some Christians to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ even though nobody sent them but that doesnt not necessarily mean that it's wrong to do so.

Are you aware that Enugu currently has very bad roads? Does it now mean that Enugu has become a sh1thole?

So, in your 'wisdom' because a governor failed to do his job then people should now start condemning Owerri and not even the governor? Why don't you start saying trash about Enugu since Enugu now has terrible roads too?

Because Okorocha removed trees and widened bank road now means entire Owerri is no longer fine? Is New Owerri not filled with avenues of trees and flowers?

If you don't know that having a good night life is important and one of the criteria people consider when rating a city then it shows you're not as informed as you try to make people believe.

There is a difference between constructive and destructive criticisms, smart people will always use the former approach when trying to bring about positive change while dull people can't even differentiate them.
Which Enugu has bad roads? Most of Enugu town has okay roads and comparing the roads there with Owerri is a case of light and darkness. Enugu has it's own issues but never road.

I'm still waiting for you to tell me the correlation between nightlight and beauty.
PoliticsRe: Few Pics From Imo State by Afam4eva(m): 10:08pm On Dec 18, 2020
BastardWike:
I used to see you as someone who is objective but you're becoming increasingly irrational. Despite the bad roads, Owerri is still a beautiful city. Owerri still has the best nightlife in the entire East. How does Owerri that is a civil service city have the same feel with Aba that is a commercial city? This crab mentality of running other Igbo cities down is a terrible attitude we should all eschew.

The other time you were criticizing Anambra for building an airport yet Ugwuanyi has neglected Enugu and allowed it to be filled with bad roads. You're from Enugu but I don't see you criticizing him. Kaduna, Ibadan and P.H are all Enugu's mate as regional capitals since colonial times but they have all left Enugu behind. Even Abakilike of yesterday now has impressive infrastructures Enugu can only dream of yet you're not bothered on why your state capital has stagnated over the years only to be condemning others.

The same bank road you're talking about is still beautiful with a wide road, Wetheral road is still beautiful, same with Orlu road etc. More investments is still flowing into the state and Imo now has a refinery and petrochemical plant with an ongoing gas projects. These are massive projects that will lift the economy of Owerri. Owerri airport is still the busiest in Igboland.

You guys used your mouth to destroy Aba's reputation to the extent that people now think that Aba is a complete decayed slum yet every city in Nigeria, including Lagos has terrible areas. We won't allow you all to demarket Owerri with your destructive criticisms the same way you did Aba. Focus on your godamn states for crying out loud.
So, you know Owerri has bad roads but you still believe it's beautiful irrespective? And what has nightlife got to doo with a city being beautiful. At this point some of you are just inherently delusional. When a city has bad roads, nothing else looks nice. Road is the number one ingredient for a city to look nice even without cosmetic surgery.

I'm talking about bank road that was littered with trees and you're telling me that the roads are wide. what's the correlation between trees and wide road? If you think Owerri is still beautiful despite all this, then you and your co-travellers are not just delusional but dense as well.

Take your opinion away from here, it is not needed. I don't know why some of you Igbos like being so petty, clannish and unreasonable.

You claim to be from Owerri yet going all out to put Owerri down in such myopic way. Owerri and Enugu still remains the most beautiful cities in the South East, even despite the poor governance.

As an Owerri guy you claim to be, what investments do you have or have attracted to Owerri? Those ones you're seeing in Owerri were mostly done by individuals like you yet all you have is mouth action and making ridiculous comparisons.

Rubbish!!
No offence but we need to stop putting Owerri and beautiful in the same sentence. I used to call Owerri beautiful but i repented sometime last 2 years. Yes, Owerri used to look nice pre-Okorocha and he intended to make it look better but instead did a shoddy job that now makes it slightly better than Aba in terms of look and feel. I know how Bank Road in Owerri used to look with the few trees back in the days but everything was uprooted by Rochas making the place look very bare. Owerri as it is has the potential to be the most beautiful city in Igboland but bad leadership won't allow it to be great. If Dave Umahi handles Owerri for you, you won't recognize it again.

Being someone's mouth piece does not necessarily mean you benefitted from them. You can like someone to the point of defending the person which is what i've seen you do for some years now. Infact, your love for Rochas is the reason you even started supporting Buhari/APC.

While the airports in the East may be too close together according to you, they still make much more economic sense than those obscure airports you're talking about in the North that are "well spaced". Those airports are of zero economic impact. Zero. In fact I daresay the economic impact is in the negative(-), those airports have taken more than they've given. They are complete wastes.
The fact that it makes more economic sense to build airports in east than the north does not mean it should be built. Are you competing with the north on who can build ore airports or you're building airports because you absolutely need it? Think about the east and stop thinking about the north.

TEDHorsePower:
Southeast is no longer operating a regional government. So you people should stop using the term wrongly. Every state has its priorities when it comes to infrastructures. That's why every state government is building it's own infrastructure, not minding what's in the next state.

For what's worth, Anambra is the only state in SE that should have airport if we start looking at it from the regional traffic and capacity to sustain traffic. Every other airport including the one in Enugu should be converted to massive warehouses for food storage.

Even unviable ebonyi is building airport, but lots of you are not crying over that one, but the fear of what an international airport shall do in Anambra is why most of you are jittery, not because it is borne of genuine concerns. You people should swallow the bitter pill because Anambra international airport is due for commission soon.

[s][/s]
So, you're building an airport just to massage your ego rather than it being imperative. Here's the reason why people laugh at us because everything seems like a competition to small minds like yourself. Rather than look at the big picture, all you want is to further that insane thought that Anambra is superior to other Igbo states.
PoliticsRe: Update on developments in Anambra state-photos by Afam4eva(m): 12:13pm On Dec 13, 2020
Cjrane2:
The truth is that the minion mktinsight knows the SE needs the airports to even stand a chance of developing the region at all. Everyone knows that in the absence or modern reliable rail infrastructure and roads, it does not make any sense to have one airport in the Southeast that is inaccessible by either road or rail. Even in countries with fantastic road and rail transport systems as in America, they still have airports every 100 KM or so. Even in places that are not so densely populated like Igboland. While in densely populated parts of America such as cities, they have up to 5 airports in many cases.

I totally don't understand why Yorubas are often the ones that feel highly threatened whenever there is an airport in the southeast. Perhaps they know that they have unfairly subjugated the region to force it to only use airports in Yoruba land. While they couldn't do such to northerners who have their airports in every state capital mostly built by FG and use Abuja and Kano airports as their regional hub. Yorubas typically look the other way when airports are built in Gombe, Lafia, Birnin-Kebbi, Katsina, Dutse, New-Bussa, Bauchi and many other places in the north that have built airports recently. But, once they see the location of the airport is in southeast, the wail and fall over themselves why it should not be built. I don't understand why they feel so threatened about development (especially airports) in the southeast.

I am only glad that Igbos have suffered so much in Nigeria to understand the the grand plan of these people is to under-develop Igboland under the guise of "one Nigeria" and use all sorts of sick logic to justify why Igboland should remain undeveloped, while their regions develop using the resources of the Federal Government.
Before you start listing the airports in the north, you should tell us the distance between those airports and you will see why a new Airport, despite it's importance is not a top priority to the South East. Enugu to Wherever that airport is cannot be more than 1.5 hours. Asaba to that airport cannot be more than 1 hour and you think it makes sense for Anambra to build an airport. It's not as if the airport will be given an International status. The only thing it will do is to wrestle some traffic from Enugu and Asaba airports.
