every us state you listed is a disaster compared to the states that have everything (NY, California, Texas, Florida, Colorado). 1 function states like Nevada and West Virginia are trash. What happens when that 1 industry slows down?
All those states have a bit of everything. They can't crash just like that. The fact that Owerri is a tourist/entetainment city does not mean it won't have other industries.

If there's a pan igbo thread, the rest of the state threads will die. Just make an Ebonyi thread and and Abia thread and we're complete. You can add Delta (Asaba) and Rivers as well
This is not just a picture thread. Its a thread for us to discuss pan Igbo issues. Has the thousands of other Igbos related threads killed the state threads?

Ok, but it will be better in the new Pan Igbo thread.
I think you should still go ahead with the Ebonyi thread. Let's use the Pan Igbo thread for not just pictures but to discuss development issues and proffer solutions.

I don't think this is wise.

Remember what happened when IPOB and its rallies gathered momentum?
Several dissenting voices arose. Not just from the average man on the streets, but some renowned political figures as well.

Let this thread be restricted to the 5 Igbo states. Including people who always feel like they are being coaxed to join their Igbo brethren would be counter productive at this stage.

If we all agree that the 1914 amalgamation of Nigeria was a horrible error, why should we do something almost similar, or along those lines?
A good product sells itself. If the main Igbo states get their act together with a strong regional integration, neighboring non igbo speaking states will call for referendum to be assimilated.

A maiden who makes herself presentable will attract multitude of suitors. The headache isn't to bring back erring or lost kinsmen, especially when they didn't ask for it. The issue is to get our acts right, and they will seek us out.
This has always been my submission. Let's not cause unnecessary distractions.

Anambra isn't and shouldn't be included, you guys don't like us and the feeling is getting mutual.
Get lost out of this place with your backwater mentality. The last time i checked, there are thousands of Anambra people on this forum and you're just but one. You definitely won't be missed. I'm tired of taking BS from people like you who whine all day like little children. Which Igbo state has not been insulted one way or another. Has Anambra received the kind of insult that Ebonyi has received? If anybody should be angry, it is our brothers from Ebonyi who have been derided like forever.

We must be careful about talking about SE only as if it is the only Igbo area!... it must be inclusive of Igbo in Rivers,Cross Rivers,Delta,Edo, Venue etc!
I'm not against not including these non SE areas but based on my experience, including them always seems to cause a lot of distractions. Even though i know these areas are Igbo speaking, i think we should limit ourselves the SE with the inclusion of only Igbo areas of Delta state , particularly Aniocha/Oshimili. They will somehow find their way into the discussions anyways.

@spyder88
I think the thread should be to discuss issues facing the South-East especially in terms of development and profer solutions to them. I blieve as Igbos, we're not pulling our weight enough. We have the numbers and knowhow, i don't understand why we cannot come together and discuss the way forward. Especially for those of us on Nairaland.

As far as Enugu and Owerri are concerned, i think i favour Owerri to break into the list of most sort after cities in Nigeria. Even though Enugu is older and developed earlier than Owerri, i like what i'm seeing in the tourism (hotel) industry in Owerri. The city is behive of activities due to it's Oringo mantra.

Please go and see the type of allocation Kano receives yearly from federal government. Do you even know that Kano is almost as populated as Lagos according to Nigerian census.

South east states get the least federal allocations combined.

We cannot develop massive infrastructures with meager budgets. It's impossible.

The only option is to use private funding.
Don't we all know that? That's not the crux of this discuss. The point is that we need to start thinking big before we start thinking of how to finance such projects. It's doable.
PoliticsRe: Enugu, The Pride Of The East. by Afam4eva(m): 12:34am On Apr 16, 2018
I just came across the Kano thread https://www.nairaland.com/4454028/kano-night-video-photos and this is exactly what i was talking about when i said that we needed too step up our game. Enugu might have more residential estates than Kano (i don't know) but what we lack is that striking thing that makes Enugu a city to behold. What is that thing that when people come into Enugu, they say WOW. The only city in Igboland that has anything close to that is Owerri. We can't remain an average city. We need to push the limits and create infrastructures for the future and not limited by the past.

Do you now want to help people define success? The last time i checked, each person has their own measure of success and it could be owning a car and paying rent on a 3 bedroom flat. As long as they feel they are successful, who are you to tell them otherwise?

Don't blame me, this is one of the reasons I went with high hopes to see that city that's better developed than Lagos, PH, Ibadan, Kano, Kaduna, et al according to this poster.
You are a tribal bigot and it's very obvious. Anybos can compare any city. I can compare Eket to Abuja if i want and it is based on a particular parameter. So, someone saying Enugu is better than Port-hacourt may mean that Enugu is more livable and not that Enugu s more dveeloped. I don't know if you indeed went to Enugu and i'm not saying Enugu is out of this world but it's a moderate city when compared to other cities it's size or age.

Nairaland GeneralRe: What's Your Definition Of The Word "Stingy"? by Afam4eva(m): 10:57pm On Apr 12, 2018
MrBrownJay1:
a stingy person is someone who is careful with money, who knows the value of money, and most importantly, how hard it is to make money (thus they dont squander it on BS).

sadly, the majority of people in Nigeria who call others stingy have absolutely no money to call their own, and are usually the one begging that same "stingy" person for handouts etc (or expect him to spend frivolously on them).
I think the Nigerian and universal definition of stingy are different.

In Nigeria, you're stingy if you don't give people money just for the heck of it. Why should i give you money just because you asked me to and you think you reserve the right to call me stingy.

Something similar happened to me @ Sandton mall, SA, early this year. A hand bag I neither saw, touched nor carried was added to my bill, checked out and I paid. Noticed at the shop door, went right back in and the girl claimed it was a mistake. I got my refund and lots of apologies.

I was transiting through Oliver Tambo enroute Mauritius and i as i rode the escalator downstairs, a black airport worker squeezed through and i wondered where he was hurrying to that he couldnt just wait for the escalator to take him down.
