I'm not the original poster. This was my initial response to the thread Affiliated: The contradictions listed above can't be argued away. But then again Islam isn't much better. the quran took many of the bible's s.tupid stories and made them more s.tupid |
BERNIMOORE: you have lost this argument, because if it was 'a flat round' it would not have been reported as sitting a above the circle of the earth, and another blow to your claim was that, nothing like flat was mentioned to describe the earth in that bible verse, but flat was formulated by 'you' and haters of the bible who never took their time to realy know what bible contained and teaches!1. Once circle is used. It means flat. "It is He who sits above the circle of the earth" 2. If i cut a piece of paper into a circle, can't I sit above it? Please let's get back to the issues at hand |
OK. First of all let me say that the bible wasn't wrong by claiming "He sits above the circle of the earth". If you view a sphere and refuse to take into account its volume then it would look like a circle. Just like those who don't know would say the moon or sun is a circle. The bible didn't give the shape of the earth there but it didn't make a mistake either. As regards the stoning part. So if I understand you clearly, kill the person before the person has the chance to commit the sin? OK. even if that's what should be done [God has never done that] then can it be done in this present age? And would churches condone people stoning their children to death for the reason above? If not, its backwards |
BERNIMOORE: @affiliatedLet's divert from what you were explaining for now. We'll get back to it later. Do you know the difference between a circle and a sphere? In order to save time, I'll tell you in layman's term. A circle is 2D [Flat] A sphere is 3D. [Has Volume. Isn't flat] |
FXKing2012: Because your posts are dumb and retrogressive, besides you dont add much value to this thread. So you know how reckless driving in Lagos is and yet you are advocating driving with divided attention? From your point of view, do you think God would be happy if they are killed in an accident that arose from such a behavior? Are you saying God is advocating for reckless endangerment of life? Like that guy that jumped into the lion's den at Ibadan zoo all in the name of preaching [God rest his soul]. There's a time and place for everything. If the driver is so courageous as to disregard his life, He should go to Muslim Arab nations and preach in public. Afterall He's trying to save lives |
Go on. Explain the four points before I comment |
The belief in that period was the earth was flat and roundish. Circular. But now we know the earth is spherical[not the actual shape] And even if the bible is accurate, that book was written around 740BC [Quite old]. Pythagoras knew the earth was spherical around 600BC [More accurate but a bit later] However the yellow emperor of China knew the earth was spherical around 2500BC [Accurate and almost two thousand years earlier] Finally there are miscellaneous evidences that the knowledge was available around 2500BC. So? Oh. And the earth isn't hung on nothing as Job claimed. It is held in it's orbit by the sun's gravity |
^^ Both Islam and Christianity are similar. The same thing you did for the quran, I can also do that for the bible. They are both full of contradictions |
BERNIMOORE: @ AffiliatedNa real wa. |
BERNIMOORE: @mazaje1. Stoning disobedient children [Deuteronomy 21:18-21] "If a man has a stubborn and rebellious son who does not obey his father and mother and will not listen to them when they discipline him, 19 his father and mother shall take hold of him and bring him to the elders at the gate of his town. 20 They shall say to the elders, "This son of ours is stubborn and rebellious. He will not obey us. He is a profligate and a drunkard." 21 Then all the men of his town shall stone him to death." 2. Stone those that worship other Gods [Deuteronomy 13:1-9] 13 Suppose a prophet appears among you. Or someone comes who uses dreams to tell what’s going to happen. He tells you that a miraculous sign or wonder is going to take place. 2 The sign or wonder he has spoken about might really take place. And he might say, “Let’s follow other gods. Let’s worship them.” But you haven’t known anything about those gods before. 3 So you must not listen to what that prophet or dreamer has said. The Lord your God is putting you to the test. He wants to know whether you love him with all your heart and with all your soul. 4 You must follow him. You must have respect for him. Keep his commands. Obey him. Serve him. Remain true to him. 5 That prophet or dreamer must be put to death. He told you not to obey the Lord your God. The Lord brought you out of Egypt. He set you free from the land where you were slaves. He commanded you to live the way he wants you to. But that prophet or dreamer has tried to make you turn away from it. Get rid of that evil person. 6 Suppose your very own brother or sister secretly tempts you to do something wrong. Or your child or the wife you love tempts you. Or your closest friend does it. Suppose one of them says, “Let’s go and worship other gods.” But you and your people long ago hadn’t known anything about those gods before. 7 They are the gods of the nations that are around you. Those nations might be near or far away. In fact, they might reach from one end of the land to the other. 8 Don’t give in to those who are tempting you. Don’t listen to them. Don’t feel sorry for them. Don’t spare them or save them. 9 You must certainly put them to death. You must be the first to throw stones at them. Then all of the people must do the same thing. 10 Put them to death by throwing stones at them. They tried to turn you away from the Lord your God. He brought you out of Egypt. That’s the land where you were slaves. 3. Enslave each other [Leveticus 25:44] 44 “‘Your male and female slaves are to come from the nations around you; from them you may buy slaves. 45 You may also buy some of the temporary residents living among you and members of their clans born in your country, and they will become your property. 46 You can bequeath them to your children as inherited property and can make them slaves for life, but you must not rule over your fellow Israelites ruthlessly. 4. Rape victims marrying rapists [Deuteronomy 22:28-29] “If a man meets a virgin who is not betrothed, and seizes her and lies with her, and they are found, then the man who lay with her shall give to the father of the young woman fifty shekels of silver, and she shall be his wife, because he has violated her. He may not divorce her all his days." |
BERNIMOORE: you lied! and it is because of your hatred that your knowledge about the bible is limited, lets see how your lies are exposed right inside the bible you claim to attack; more than 2000 yrs ago before a the so-called science , these facts are made known earlier! What do you mean by before the so called science? Science started as soon as man could think and wonder |
ruffhandu: something strongly tells me that if the driver were to be a comedian cracking nasty profane jokes in the cab, nobody will caution him on his excesses. smhEven if that's true, So because nobody complains everybody should start somersaulting and dancing azonto while driving? What's wrong is wrong |
Oh. and many of these "miracles" are lies too. I'm not saying that they are all lies but the majority of the testimony givers are paid actors. I was reading in the news about a pastor that threw a huge crusade where the lame walked and the blind saw and so on... one of the attendees got angry and called the police to arrest the pastor and upon investigation all the miracles were paid acts. The pastor said He couldn't be arrested or sued because that was part of the profession |
Omerian Consult: Well I learnt today that the church's publication Signs & Wonders today has not been in publication this year. Any way our services are always streamed live online so you can help your selves out.I don't classify "supernatural" events such as miracles as part of those lies. Just some laws of the universe that is not yet known to most humans. By lies I mean outright lies such as Albert Einstein said this. and this happened [When it didn't happen] And Obama did this which would mean this [When He didn't] and so on |
benodic: @ manmustwacAs regards the buddhism, i love buddhism and i can't really classify them as a religion. To the best of my knowledge they do not believe in God and to the best of my knowledge every word that came out of the mouth of the buddha is true |
ifeness: I personally believe science is withholding certain information about extraterrestrial visitation to earth. I have read several book that shockingly prove that we have people like us in other universes. If we can visit another planet with our limited scientific knowledge, why can beings more advanced than us visit us in the past or presently.I somewhat agree with you. I'm strongly inclined to believe these things but I'll ignore it for now based on lack of evidence |
[quote author=emöfine2]By that same token shouldn’t god be punished for creating humans that “he” had the foreknowledge of that will eventually sin and go to hell?[/quote]Yes, Yes he should [quote author=emöfine2]Well people have different reasons for having children and not all of those reasons are selfish at all. Actually some may argue that having a child is perhaps one of the most selfless tasks; as for a period that child becomes the parent’s greater responsibility and primary priority.[/quote]The only reasons someone can give birth is either selfishness or wickedness. Even parents who act selfless gave birth for their own selfish interest which is to satisfy a feeling in them. If it wasn't for that and a person brings a child to this evil world, then it must be wickedness... oh i forgot to add stupidity. Stupidity too should be among the reasons. |
TRUE SAINT: I totally agree with you Larride. This argument can be followed philosophically, and would still come out to our favour. But, we live in the part of the world where the works of the supernatural is evident. I would understand if this argument is done by those in Europe, Asia or America. But in Nigeria, the supernatural is very evident. To say you don't believe in the supernatural is a bit naive. To say because a thing does not have any physical explanation for existence and it therefore does not exist, that is being naive. There are invisible pink unicorns in the sky that do those supernatural things. Please show me the logical proof that they do not exist |
Many religions justify God ultimately sending almost all of mankind to an eternal punishment that our most evil minds cannot even comprehend. The basis for this justification is that God gave us freewill and we didn't choose Him. Aside from the pettiness and jealously that statement portrays, did God really give us freewill? Looking at it from an unbiased perspective, I was born on this earth without being given a choice. If there was freewill, I should have been able to choose if i wanted to exist or not. But once I can make that choice, then I already exist. In essence I was not free to make that choice so religion cannot subsequently claim that humans have freewill. We only have partial freewill from a religious point of view |
FXKing2012: Truth of the matter is the OP is possessed for the following reasons:According to your logic, if a turbaned man enters a plane, gets up and starts reciting muslim quotes, anyone that feels uncomfortable is possessed? And I'm sure you will too [No offense to the muslims]... Or any safety response your body gives you means you are possessed also? when a cockroach crawls on you, you are possessed because you felt uncomfortable? if you are trying to convince anyone that you aren't too bright then 2 posts of this nonsense has done the job Stay blessed |
The contradictions listed above can't be argued away. But then again Islam isn't much better. the quran took many of the bible's s.tupid stories and made them more s.tupid |
traeces: All of you my friends especially my atheist friends, here are a few questions for you.Not much. But research is being carried out and new things are constantly discovered. On the path of religion, nothing and no research is to be carried out because the men in control make their puppets believe they already have all the answers. |
FXKing2012: Truth of the matter is the OP is possessed for the following reasons:In what planet is this guy living I pray the next time you enter a plane, at landing time, the pilot leaves the cockpit and comes to start preaching to you and it would be only you in the plane. Then when the plane crashes you can say you both were not possessed by the devil. Who wouldn't be uncomfortable when his/her life is at risk in the hands of ldiots? |
Some nigerians are brain dead though. How can one support preaching and arguing while driving? This is what religion causes. That guy was willing to sacrifice peoples lives in the belief that He was doing the work of God. The argument that it was his private car is just stupid as long as it wasn't a free ride |
Omerian Consult: But u guys should be used to great testIf I was a satanist, I wouldn't disprove such works because A satanist must also believe in God. its implied. About the lies christians tell, I could give you numerous examples if you need them |
thehomer: Neither. A whole pestle? Where will it fit? How will I bend if someone hid an entire pestle somewhere in my body? Have you ever met someone with a whole pestle hidden in their body? Look you really should try not to believe such tall tales that are more fit for children round a camp fire than for adults seriously preparing against threats in the real world.19 million likes |
davidylan: and you know this how?I just concluded you were an ldiot but now I know its far worse. You are just a re.tarded illiterate. |
plaetton: I have pointed this fact sooo many times to these bible pretenders, but they have all chickened out of explaining how we got 3days of creation without the sun as a marker of day and night. Its just sad really. he gets so violent when his beliefs are questioned. He just locks up his intellect and starts responding based on fear. |
davidylan: From reading the bible... not every chapter or book is placed in the exact time frame. But God supposedly took pain staking care to arrange the story of creation in chronological order by listing out the events as they happened in their orders marked by days. Just pointing that out because you don't seem to know much about the bible. |
Pastor AIO: I meant more like the actual practice of the religion.OK. if you're interested in the story behind the religion as regards creation and all that, here it is http://www.desy.de/gna/interpedia/greek_myth/creation.html |
I find the Yoruba story of creation very unlike Greek's though. The one that a chicken came down on a chain to spread sand on the earth |
onetrack: That would make you a pantheist, or, possibly, a panentheist, depending on whether or not you think that the universe is god or the universe is just one aspect of god.Fascinating. I didn't know there was such a classification as that |
