First of all, Concrete cover is essential to create a bond between concrete and steel, it also help steel against corrosion and harsh weather. It is simply the clear space between the surface of concrete and the reinforcement steel.

In this context, concrete cover is the space between the ground and the BRC wiremesh.

Wiremesh should be placed at the upper third of the oversite concrete (German floor), This will help fight against shrinkage/crack which originate from the slab top.

While concrete provide compressive strength, the wiremesh provides tensile strength.

The attached is the section of the strip foundation I uploaded previously, the dark straight line under the part labeled “150mm concrete floor slab” indicates the BRC wiremesh and position.

I was in the University when I lost my father. I remember coming home that fateful day from school. I met one of our neighbors and family friend on my way. She greeted me and said 'eku aseyinde baba'. I said which baba . She thought I knew already that my father has passed away. I told her, I'm just hearing it from her.
