This is clearly a Christian mission school why do you enroll your children in such school when you know you won't abide by their dress code.

I won't say good or bad cos most people just provide rebars without any structural design.

But the size and spacing of the rebars (iron rods) are determined from structural calculations based on the loading on the building.

From the calculated area of steel the structural engineer can recommend 12mm /16mm or any other diameter depending on his/ her choice of rebars at a particular spacing that will sufficiently support the load.

So it's the area of steel gotten ,that determines the size and spacing of the steel. If the area is such that 12mm is okay for the column bases then use 12mm and if 16mm is okay for the columns then it's good as well...

Blinding is to correct the uneveness of the excavated trench and also to provide cover for the rebars.

In this case we blinded the column bases first because the wall strips do not have any rebars on them and to prevent the iron bender walking over them during placement of the rebars.

Is there any work that involves hitting, breaking or vibration on your build? The crack could be as a result of these or more...

Even though the picture is not extensive enough, it doesn't look like a structural issue..
Let your mason break open the affected areas and redress them.

Chiselling the slab and introducing a beam on the wall might not solve this problem. Get a second opinion by inviting an external structural engineer to look at the building.

Hello guys.....thank God I found this thread.

I have a duplex under construction, we are at the roofing stage now, but my worry is I noticed the decking in two room vibrate if u jump on it. I first noticed it when a helper dropped a bucket of sand on the floor of the deck while I was standing on it. The way I felt a pulse under my feet I didnt like it. Few days later I noticed cracks under the deck......

I called the engineers attention and he said it was poor concrete mixture and that the guyz that poured d decking didn't get to the right level.

His solution is to chisel off the middle of d decking in d room about 9inches and then introduce an external beam.

Meaning we will crack open the middle of the room abt 9inches wide, wall to wall and then introduce a beam under.

What do the experts here thing. I'm really worried bcs cracking a decking isnt soo good, would it not affect the whole building.

It's unsual for ceiling fan to cause cracks on a reinforced slab.
You need to carryout a comprehensive check on the slab especially since you intend to put an additional load on it.

Get a structural engineer to examine and conduct integrity test on the slab. This will ascertain the strength of the concrete..

My shop decking is cracking as a result of the ceiling fun hanging rod they put up there. It's not firm. It wobles with the ceiling fan and I now notice cracking allover it decking.

Another thing is I plan to uninstall the ceiling fan. The decking is a new deck ans there is plan to put another shop on top. I was worried if all this will affect the structure and it looks like the deck is not strong.

I need advice from experience personal from this house to advise.
