You missed the most important. 'We-men'
We-men do not factor that much for a single immigrant abroad compared to back home. All those hidden taxes like money for t-fare, money to do hair, money for chin-chin are not issues outside Naija.

When I was in active service I didn’t have to spend, and my guys were not different. It is in Naija that women will siphon a single man’s funds.

Nna I go review all these activities abeg. I realise say na my Madam dey cause all these billings not the kids directly. Even piano lessons they grumble every Sunday that they don't want to go. Last weekend my son walked out of football practice after 10 mins saying he's not doing again and my daughter walked out halfway through like some NLC worker, and they are always grumbling before they go. I later asked my wife how much we pay for football, she said £38 for each per month, and they miss half their lessons anyway. I said cancel it from December. From now we will only pay for what they show passion in and take initiative on except swimming which is a life saving skill. My papa no pay one kobo for me to play ball and I never failed to play everyday and twice on weekends for free. These guys can't trap ball after 3 years training and plenty billings because they ignore the footballs I strategically placed around the house and do no practice outside of their lessons.

See those costumes billings na another one. Christmas dance and drama shows are coming up and between billings for costumes and buying show tickets for all and sundry, I come dey wonder if I dey train pikin for university. But if I play Kizz Daniel song, dem go dey move off beat after how many years of these dance school billings. But bring any Naija pikin play beat, dem go dey move on beat without going to any dance school. I believe we just dey whine ourself with these things, and outsourcing certain life skills at premium cost. Heaven will not fall if I dance with my daughter every weekend, I guarantee after 3 months she go dey move rhythmically while if I play ball with my son for garden for 6 months, he go dey raise 10 easily. All these lessons na keeping up with the Joneses wey mummies group dey do.
Na why i talk say it is partly for peace in the home UNLESS you and your madam sit down and come to a decision. The latest craze is language lessons (50 dollars per hour to learn French/Spanish/Italian/Chinese etc). The society is set up to finesse any small change you have out of your pocket) na you as a guy man go give yourself brain when water starts becoming more than garri.

They are everywhere. One gym that i went to ONCE a few years ago still dey send me text messages about bonanza memberships till today.

One store membership that i signed for when i first came here almost became an albatross around my neck, until one day i called them and changed it for them before they cancelled it. I had to go full native on them, the girl on the other side was almost crying. grin

Na pesin head wey no correct go get budget problems from eating out, but some folks just love to perform. Despite being a frugal nigga, I still find money flying out at rate of knots and I'm not seeing it reflected in the clothes I wear or the food I eat. Na kids activities dey drive my lifestyle inflation. Sometimes I look at what I lived on as a student and the kids are gulping that in just activities, parties and presents monthly. And it's very sneaky as well. Your wife will just tell you, honey I'm signing them up to piano lessons, it's £50 each, you nod head and £100 has flown out the door for lessons where they will probably miss 2 of the 4 lessons in the month. Add football lessons, tennis, dancing lessons, swimming, these guys are burning money. Time done reach to review all these things. What use is 45 minutes of football lessons a week and you can teach them better in your back garden. You've been paying for dancing lessons for 3 years and they can't even do basic one-two step, na to dey twirl hand for air like ballerina, a dancing style they will never use in the real world.

Even parties they attend every other weekend and must buy present so that they can also receive present when it's their birthday. These are the insidious elements of lifestyle inflation that you won't notice creeping up on you like a thief in the night.
Very true. The lessons too plenty. What about language lessons? Swimming lessons are practically mandatory here anyway, you no fit dodge them. Different sports lessons and music lessons. Then different costumes for different plays at school and church. If you wan go on holiday/vacation na capital project. But as a family man na the price of your peace in the house and your kids integration into the society be that.

I was actually talking more of the single recent immigrant. If you are cooking your own meals, you can cut your feeding expenses by 50-75%. Cooking can save you over 1,000 dollars a month, and that is if you are not eating out fancy. Then all those subscriptions and memberships that Roland alluded to. Those things are the things that chop your money without you noticing. If you buy a house or buy a car and you go broke you will know instantly what caused it and you can rectify accordingly, but those quiet lifestyle choices that impoverish people are sometimes hard to recognize. It might even be the choice of store you buy your clothes from or the sheer volume of clothes that you buy. The guy will be living paycheck to paycheck and will be wondering why he is broke.

My mama trained her boys to do everything a woman can do and that includes cooking.

As an adult immigrant, understanding the importance of saving and efficient management of financial resources is your first and most important step to financial success in the diaspora. This is because if you follow the spending habits of Americans, you will struggle financially and just live pay check to paycheck with no savings or asset.

How about phone, cable and internet plans? Memberships and subscriptions nko? Cars nko? There are people who are obsessed with drinking a cup of coffee that costs $10 or more daily! How about waste of food and groceries in the house? Those wen dey smoke 2 packs of cigarettes daily nko?
The worst thing to do is to immigrate and start living Oyinbo lifestyle. That your Aussie colleague you are emulating by eating out and going on vacation yearly started working and contributing to his pension at about 16-18, and at age 30 has already bought his own house (and is well into paying it off) and has 100k to 150k saved up in his retirement savings. Meanwhile you as a Naija guy come in at 30 and when you convert your 5m naira savings it is less than 10k.

Eating out consistently is one of the ways of going broke. If you and your partner go out to eat at a fancy restaurant once a week like most Oyinbo family, you are likely to spend $200 to $300

Some people do this more than 4 times a week

As an immigrant wey get mother alive still praying for you and want to prosper financially, The need to learn cooking cannot be understated. Even as a Bachelor, cook am, anyhow e taste chop am like that. You will gradually get better and save money
100%. Many times na those small small recurrent expenditure dey attack pocket not the obvious ones like car and house.

That your napkin point dey very true. One time we were on a cruise and we noticed that there was this restaurant that was usually sparsely filled but we didn't know why. One day we decided to try it. As we enter, dey help us place napkin for lap, dey fawn over us. At the end of the evening when dey show me the bill i wan cry right there but as a father figure in society i reach my room first. For most states, getting a majority and preventing any of your opponents from getting 25% is often enough dominance, and a candidate that does both has done enough to establish more than enough dominance.
Nope. You also want to amass as many votes as possible in order to contribute to your total national votes and counteract whatever numbers your opponents are delivering in their own stronghold states.

Wike is an illogical fellow. He would have done some rigging even if it was for Obi in order to change 90% to 99%. He was not rigging just to win his state but to prove a point that he was powerful and useful. It would not have needed to be as mad as what he did for Tinubu though.

It's deeper than that. Your situation also matters. Wemby's situation is not a particularly good one compared to Chet. This Spurs team is not set up to compensate Wemby's weaknesses. So I'm left wondering are the Spurs deliberately throwing these games or has Pop lost it.

Why the hell is a Jeremy Sochan a middling power forward playing PG.

Honestly they do not look like a team trying to win games. Almost like they are tanking for another lottery pick
Yes, i factored in the situation that is why i said Chet is more impactful. Remember when D.Book was scoring 50 -70 points with no impact early on in his career. Chet is in a situation to make a difference and because of that his impact will be more felt.

Concerning Pep, i have suspected he has lost it for a while. Outside leadership and authority it looks like the X and Os of this modern game dey elude am small.

Nigga I was on some Anita Baker, Aretha Franklin and Patti Labelle for my evening study. Damn those women sing nicer than "please and thank you“

I also ran through the top HipHop albums of 1994-1998 and the quality of lyricism was mindblowingly good.

I think the streaming and Tik-Tok era has done irreversible damage to musical artistry. You don’t have to be able to build a base anymore to get paid. Just make music that goes viral on shorts
Technology can improve beat making but it can't improve lyricism.

What I deduce from the account of both parties , Portable has been meaning to roll with Charles and Charles being a smart man knew there are people who actually want him and portable to do things together .

So one of those gigs came up and Charles rang Portable up and he was eager to oblige . To be fair Charles accommodated all Portable’s excesses like bringing his wife along on a busines trip ( on Charles’ bill ) .

I think the issue gan gan was Portable finding out about the fee paid by the promoter much later and Charles expects him to move on just like that .

When Tunde ednut posted Charles video explaining his own side of t he story , Portable was literally in the comment section typing “ This egbon na ripper seh “ grin. That’s not the kind of person u want being on ur case on social media . Portable na menace .

And yes , I don’t think the promoter will pay Charles alone 40m ; max he will get like 25m . Portable na crowd pusher for any show promoter o
It is a life lesson. Na part of iriri aiye be dat. If Portable was a bit more stable they would come for him directly, and also next time he should ask to see the fine print.

I didn't say he has a case to answer. It's obvious whatever gave him 40m would not have given him 40m without Portable in his camp.

I'm not sure any negotaition took place between both parties sef. Charles just saw portable as someone he needs to find small change and expect him to be appreciative.

Portable later found out how much Charles got and felt cheated. Na street matter, not as if there's any binding contractual agreement between them. That's why I said Charles can be benevolent and find him additional change.

However, if Charles doesn't Portable will continue to shout his name and harass him everywhere online; e no dey hard portable to set camera and ringlight
Lol ok.You have a point sha. Na tactical mistake. If one wants to outsmart somebody it is not Portable that one should outsmart. He could have done 30-15 since na him bring market come.

I am not sure that money was contingent on Portable being there sha, or do Okocha and Portable have any ongoing business arrangement that people are aware of? Or you think Okocha himself can’t obtain 40-50m fee? We are talking of Igwe Tupac here o! 😄

I have watched the video of both parties and in my honest opinion Charles took advantage of him. Unfortunately for him, he chose the wrong person to play a fast one on.

Charles paid him N5m thinking portable will take it and be grateful since he already bought ticket for him and his wife and fed them, he didn't know portable will go and find out from the source the exact money they paid charles.

If Charles want peace make he just call am give am like another N5m and settle the matter off camera
Charles Okocha actually has no case to answer, but if he is a man of peace he might want to give Portable more money. Okocha negotiated the maximum for himself and Portable negotiated the max he could from Okocha

Portable is actually coming across as an ingrate. If Okocha had not brought the deal to meet him he would have gotten 100% of Zero Naira. Unless the contract Okocha signed stated that he had to get Portable involved.

Which is why I was wondering why the entire media was so quick to crown Wemby Rookie of the Year, well unless Chet does not count as a rookie. I'm looking at this San Antonio Spurs team and they will lose minimum of 50-55 games this year.

Defensively disjointed and have a bunch of sankwa players that think they can play.

The Spurs will do well to weed out those that can and can't fit in with Wemby else his game will be stifled as well
Wemby is foreign and exotic and once a narrative is started it is easier to lazily push it than reassess things.

At this early stage Chet is the better and more impactful player but let’s see how things progress. With Wemby’s potential, if things click for him later in the season things might get interesting.

The tone of his narration also didn't sound as if they were seeking his permission to bribe, but they are carrying him along as presidential election candidate who happens to be from their state.
Why is he saying we lost ALL the local governments again?
