patrickmuf: If France didn't win the WC, the coach would've been the most hated person in France, his selection for the WC raised many questions, the prominent was why Rabiot was not on the team, in fact, he was to be in the standby team but the guy was so pissed that he rejected the chance. It's the same coach that opted for Gignac at the Euros and in the World cup, took Giroud over Lacazette. So his preferences counts for nothing. If our front 3 keeps interchanging positions like OGS is trying to have us play, then we wouldn't necessarily need an express RW. However, we need a midfielder and a CB (priority), not because our present crop of CBs cannot do a job but they're mostly sick bays...
That Gignac one scatter my dada.
France won the World Cup inspite of not because of Deschamps. The man is clueless IMO.
There are zero questions about Rabiot’s ability, none at all. Getting a player of that quality and age on a free transfer is daylight robbery. If you check my old posts I have always wanted him at United.
However there are increasing concerns about his motivation, personality and the people around him, especially his talkative drama queen mother.
Off the field issues often affect players, especially the young ones. For example if Dembele keeps partying, oversleeping and missing training he will never achieve his potential.
I hope our board could just get hold of him already. That guy will be good in our new setup. We need a midfielder like that. I am pretty sure they ain't even looking his way though
I like him as a footballer but I am starting to have serious reservations about him as someone to play in a team. First of all, his mum is his patient and she talks a lot of crap. He has been very disrespectful of PSG his boyhood club for about 2yrs now and has handled his exit unprofessionally.
Heard he is asking for big wages and outlandish bonuses as well. Said Spurs were beneath him. Summary is, I question his motivation and attitude.
Not saying we shouldn’t go for him, but the club should do their due diligence on him first before rushing in. It appears he is Barca bound anyway.
KevinDein: I see a lot hate towards Stan but I'm finding it hard to get on board with that. The man obviously isn't a football fan but he's OK'ed a number of expensive transfers recently. We spent around 100 million pounds to bring in Aubameyang and Lacazette and we've spent 30-40 million pounds on Ozil, Xhaka, Mustafi, Sanchez. Factually, we've had a higher net spent than Chelsea in the last few years.
TBH, I think the major problem has been that we bought really poorly. To put things in perspective, we bought mustafi and xhaka for a combined fee of 70 million pounds while Chelsea bought Kante and Rudiger for around 60 million.
Edit: to be fair, we've also made some good buys, Sanchez, Auba and Lacazette but those few poor buys will bite us more than it will say Man Utd, city or Chelsea because these clubs are significantly wealthier and can easily replace bad buys. We have no margin of error when making purchases.
Chelsea is not significantly wealthier than Arsenal. In fact if we check am Arsenal is probably wealthier.
Kroenke is an aka gum and is you guys’ major problem.
He is the only billionaire I know of that rather than marrying a sexy model or actress etc he decided to marry another billionaire. All to prevent too much spending from his pocket for house.
patrickmuf: Front 3 has got to be Martial - Rashford - Sanchez...The 3 of them have the skill set to do damage from just about any position. I am quite happy that Martial is doing well coming from the right cos it looked like it was impossible with Mourinho. A fluid front 3 is the way forward with Lingard, Mata and Lukaku as backups.
Yeah, sounds like a good idea.
Although it might change based on form and fitness I think this should be our front 3, especially for big games.
nihilistjnr: The one that busted my head was that declan rice fella.
none of the youth scouts even mentioned his name here iirc.
Nateevs never gave us the heads up
now he's doing bits and West ham, and Guardiola is reportedly sniffing around him
This one is not even banter or beef talk. There is something wrong with the setup, but I don’t know what it is.
Soon after Declan Rice moved to West Ham people were saying possible England international if not captain sef. But at Chelsea not much hype.
Phil Foden, Brahim Diaz and Jadon Sancho in City and Chong, Gomes, Greenwood at United still had to accept the Chelsea under 18s as chairmen. But just watch this space for the ones that will make it.
Nothing good fit come for that Shesi academy. On top all the recent youth team titles no one has broken through yet. It was when Josh McEachran turned out to be a bust that i knew that village people were on the youth players' case.
PietroRick: 1. This man had zero celebration skills 2. How did was such a deadly finisher remain a substitute across generations? Damn 3. He was also selfish af
Really for those who watched him for most of his career, why exactly was he always on the bench? Afrodoc2, elampiro, ruudie, Nihilist, raumdeuter, ibime.. Anyone
Outside Ruud Van Nistelrooy he is perhapbs the best pure finisher i have seen at the club, and yes his celebrations were controlled.
Why was he a sub?
1) We had 4 good strikers, all with different strengths and weaknesses.
2) He cost little, compared to Yorke and Cole. He and Sheringham were brought in essentially knowing they would likely be substitutes.
3) While all 4 were good strikers, Yorke and Sheringham were the 2 best in terms of technique and creating for others while Cole and Solskjaer were better in terms of the hunger for goals.
4) He had the greatest likelihood of scoring from the bench with even his 1st touch, unlike Cole who usually had to miss a number of chances before getting into rhythm.
5) He had the least ego, and this unfortunately made him the most suitable for the bench while maintaining team harmony.
Lastly, that Yorke/Cole combo could be very, very deadly. Ask Gbenga Okunowo.
I know Lingard does not do stowaway in cargo ship or swim through shark infested waters to try and escape poverty.
I also know that he does not wash plates in Canada or waste every productive moment of his life on gambling and tete, hoping against hope that Baba Ijebu will make him blow.
Lingard is also not a 1st grade f.o.o.l who attended a second rate institution only to come out with a 3rd class degree.
These are a few of the favourite things i know and love about Lingard.
Oasis007: ..... I don't want to drop any Comment on Lingard to avoid being misunderstood as hating on him, but I am kinda not sold on him yet.
He's full of Pace with no techniques, stamina and football intelligence. He's better off as a Sub, squad Player precisely - gets sub-in in the last 15Mins of a Match to overrun already weak Defence of the Opposition.
I believe the Trio of Martial, Rashford and Sanchez Combo definitely gonna be superb and more productive.
We all know Lingard is a squad player, and there are benefits to having homegrown squad players. I prefer having Lingard in the squad to having Willian.
Also OGS needs to promote the young players to the senior team let’s kniw what they have. A new manager with expectations to win titles will be reluctant to give youth a chance.
Let us enter the new year with singing and rejoicing instead of bloodshed.
Pastor skimple should lead us in a service of songs while any Bible-believing brother should provide us digits of clean, clean babes for cross-over service.
Ooops, typographical error. I didn’t mean babes, I meant something else.
Emaprince: Does this mean, you don't want to be in the top4? Because Chelsea is not dropping o.
I also want to be richer than Bill Gates and Jeff Bezos and i want Nigeria to be more developed than America but those things are not going to happen either.
What we want and what will happen are not always the same.
JayKayMaybachz: Play play Pulisic go become shekpe player
There are other options. Pulisic has lost his shirt at Dortmund to an 18yr old that was playing under 18 football with Angel Gomes and Tahit Chong dem just over a year ago.
I don’t want us to go spend big on another young RWF when we have 1 or 2 that are potentially better players in our youth system.
It is obvious Solskjaer believes more in Rashford than Lukaku. He is going to give him all the support and opportunities he needs, whether he seizes the moment is left to him.
diadem10: Technically I don't see much difference between Gomes and DJ. In fact, he makes things more happen than Gomes but sbragia seems to have an agenda against him probably 'cos he was often questioned on why he didn't play him last season when the team needed creativity in the midfield whereas he preferred redmond, hamilton et al.
As for Poole, his height doesn't stop his aerial duel. It didn't stop Puyol nor canavarro also, it's all about the timing of your jump. Poole's still the best at it in the youth team, better than Shuan williams and Tuazenbe in the air. And he's been operating from the Lcb role even when he's right footed yet that didn't stop his game. Tuazenbe is even a disaster on the left.
That said, I think the English players are being prioritised. Anyway, I'm only waiting on O'connor, Chong and Poole to be added to the list and the whole reserve team can be discarded for all I care.
Garner and Greenwood are now playing reserve matches, and i tell you these might be the best of the whole bunch.
