If you are not one of the best in your postion you can't be called world class. You can be good without being World Class.

Elber played a dozen years in Europe and hit 20 league goals just 1 time, and in those prime years of 1999 to 2003 for him Ronaldo, Shevchenko, Batistuta, Crespo, Raul, Christian Vieri, Henry, Roy Makaay, Ruud Van Nistelrooy, Filipo Inzaghi ,Trezeguet and Mario Jardel had better class.
That is a full team of strikers better than him in class and m ore ferared, even if you argue with a couple of them there are too many people ahead of him for him to be truly world class. A very good striker but not one of the best

I agree Kroos especially might be a bit of a defensive liability with Pogba but our possession and attacking game will be so much better and a very disciplined holding midfielder behind them in a 4-3-3 would cover the defensive gap.
With a Kroos or Veratti in our midfield our buildup play from midfield would be so fluid and systematic.

I can't tell the future so i will try to support him as long as he is a United player.
It does not have to be Verrati or Kroos but i would not mind either of them with Pogba and someone else behind them in a 4-3-3, it will be better than having Schneiderlin or Fellaini in the team. Herrera might learn to play the holding role or a holding midfielder of quality might become available in the market. The point is that we should support the players whenever possible and try to criticize justly.
When a player plays poorly he should be criticized but if he plays well he should also be commended.

I expect more from him too but it is neither fair nor reasonable to compare him at 23yrs of age to prime Yaya Toure at 28,29 yrs of age.
Pogba will surely get better with time as he has all the tools to succeed but he will never be worth that money.
I am not too bothered with the fee itself but my issue is that the same money could have been spent differently and we would have been talking title challenge right now.
All that is in the past now anyway and the best thing to do now is support the team, hope for the best until January or the summer when we can get that last piece to complete our midfield. With the right moves a player like a Kroos, Verrati or Weigl e.t.c can be brought into the fold.

And i see nothing wrong with occasional constructive criticism of the players. Not all criticism is negative and sometimes we have to be realistic and honest, if everything was so fine and dandy we won't be in this position outside the top 4. There have been some signs that the team is starting to click but there is still a lot of work to be done by both the players and the manager......a lot of work.

All what Pogba has been doing is oscillating between the central midfield performance and attacking midfield. He plays as an attacking midfielder in the Central midfield. Neither Aleix Garcia nor Lallana nor Silva even created chances yet they outclassed the fraud!

Until he has a dominant performance against better opposition midfield, I won't take him serious! Imagine comparing Pogba to Yaya. Maybe you need to watch some Yaya clips!

I was not in support of the Pogba deal because i believed we could use that money in a smarter way to strengthen our midfield. However you have to remember that at this same age (23) Yaya Toure was still plying his trade at Olympiakos and Monaco and was no where near the player he grew to become in the EPL.

It is true. With Mkhitaryan coming into the picture, the forward positions are now fully occupied. However if you talk about real width and wing play, these other guys cannot provide as much as Valencia. There are matches you just need that man who carries the ball down the field with great pace and balance to provide Assists and second Assists for team mates.

Yes the attacking slots are occupied. And football has changed now. Most teams play either forwards or attacking midfielders on the wings and the width is provided by overlapping full backs. Few teams play with wingers that offer you width these days, your wing men must be able to come inside, score and create clear cut chances and that is not AV's strong suit.

Playing him as a RB aids our transition from defence to attack as he is able to travel quickly with the ball and still have options waiting for him when he gets forward. I prefer him at RB and one out of Mikki, Mata, Rashford, Lingard or Martial in front of him at RW.

Of course i want him in the squad as a sub not a starter. But some people want to flood the team with big money signings whether they deserve their place or not. Lingard is home grown and would always give 100% and won't poison the well when he is benched. No team has only world class stars, it has always been about Zidanes and Pavones one way or the other.

Looking at it from another angle, he would be less fearless to adventure forward. Playing as a right back and overlapping comes with risks which was why he didn't want to adventure today with many men trying to block him.

Since 2012 when AV wore the no 7 jersey he has not been the same attacking player. He has practically no left leg, depends too much on pace and not enough on guile, and as a result is quite predictable. PLUS he does not score enough goals and this season we need prolific attacking players cos Zlatan won't score enough on his own.
And when we have Mikki, Mata, Rashford and Lingard queuing up for places it would be criminal to play him in that RW position when we have possibly better options there and have no dependable RB.

Pogba played well today. I believe everybody played well, our poorest player was Zlatan IMO but even he had his good moments.
He dominates aerial tussles, has great technique and link up play but has 2 big issues for now, lack of pace( which can't be corrected) and the Cavanesque period he is going through ( can be corrected).

Valencia is average playing as a RW, that has been confirmed already. Let him continue at RB where he is very,very good.
There is a difference between playing as an overlapping RB running into space with the opposing winger as your primary marker and playing as a RW with the defence set up against you and the opposition full back man marking you.
