bukatyne: Mothers don't toil day and night?
I give it to we mothers: not because I am a woman or blindly supporting women here.
They are very intentional. A single mother would toil to feed her kids and strive to be there for them emotionally (whether teaching them right or wrong).
There Is NO excuse for a father NOT to be emotionally invested in his children.
NONE. a woman advising a man how to be a man. |

xynerise: Yes, I said so.
If you are of the school of thought that providing for the family along automatically makes you a caring father, then you are among those that risk being irrelevant to your children.
If you look at most families today, the children hardly mention their fathers when making a reference to something inspiring. I mean quoting what your father once taught you or something positive you learnt while growing up. I am referring to fathers of our time.
Today, everything is about making money and paying the bills. That is not enough. How close are you to your children? It is always the mother that attends to issues that trouble the children today. Even though fathers source for solutions at the end but the children will always remember the person that discovered the problems, or at least care to know what the problem is.
How often do we call our kids, sit them down and ask them about the kind of challenges they face in life?
Some fathers hardly call their children (far from home) on phone except the mother does and maybe pass the phone to him. This has made some people to call mostly their mothers on phone and explain situations to her rather than the father who provides the money to solve the situations.
You can see that despite most fathers provide the money, yet the mothers get most of the appreciation.
My point is, we shouldn't be too focus on just making the money. Let us remember we are also making a family too. It is your father who brought someone as ungrateful as you to this world I blame. How can you?/someone goes out each day to hustke for his family, denies himself things to give you a better life and because your mother was always around you that makes your father automatically irrelevant? Firgetting that the tomea now are diffrent. Fathers die earlier than mothers because of the burden they bear and you are here running your mouth. May your children say the same about you. Anuofia! |

OvaSabi1: I think the news (AZN) was already factored into last week's share price. Rumours of the positive outcome started around midweek. Before then, share price was around 53 and has remained that way for long. This (58) has been the highest for the past one year. And again, a positive outcome for the long term doesn't translate into increased earnings because they are implying that they don't intend to profit off this. But what can give small hope are that: 1. AZN isn't into only vaccines 2. If the positive outcome isn't short lived, it will improve credibility in their products in the pipeline. But again, this covid trial vaccine was developed in collaboration with Oxford scientists who are seemingly more seasoned experts and were probably specially recruited just for this. Can AZN replicate same feat with other products, without the help of the scientific community from oxford? Most probably no. At this point, I haven't decided to sell sha. I'm not selling yet. Still watching. The stock is still bullish on the long term. Na so Goldman Sachs do me ojoro on Friday, sold my NIO, only for it to rally today. |

If TSLA does not post a profit on Wednesday (which I think they won't), that stock would plummet faster than an asteroid. NFLX drop go dey learn. |

OakPearl: My take on AZN, BioNTech, Pfizer and Moderna shares tanking despite positive reports is simply Mr. Market having a mind of its own.
As no one can time the market, you are not out of order investing based on your positive findings about a company.
In the end, you will be proved right when a final positive outcome is announced. As long as nothing goes wrong with the result of tests carried out, patience is all you need. As late as it was on 7th July when I bought Novavax @ $104 just when they made their last breakthrough announcement, it has rebounded from dropping to around $90 back up to $139.
Meanwhile, I still consider these biotech stocks short to mid term plays due largely to covid-19. So far our 'friends' in the media keep shouting second wave, bio tech may be the way to go for mid term. Na tech stocks dey give me headache. After Wednesday we would know how far |

OvaSabi1: I know. The results were promising and good, so why is it falling? But I think I will wait until the end of today as Skymoore1004 said. The market uses reverse psychology. People have taken position on the stock waiting for something to push it up. News about the test result is expected to push it up, but don't forget people are waiting to sell. This would make the price come down. Give it till the end of the day or tomorrow, it would get back up. My advise is to load up more. Besides a pull back is good so that people can load up on more shares |

You guys are part of the problem.
I'm sure you guys love the fact that poverty is rife in the land so that you can continue fleecing people of their money.

emmanuelewumi: How can we develop their interest in the business?
One of the reasons why it is very difficult to have a 70 year old Nigerian owned family business, we have a lot to learn from the Indian and Lebanese owned family businesses in Nigeria.
It is a waste of capital, labour and enterprise to build a N500 million family business but 10 years after the demise of the founder the business will cease to exist, compared to the Indian or Lebanese owned family businesses that would have grown to a N2 billion Business 10 years after the demise of the founder I think it has to do with the way we perceive work or jobs here. In the west, you would see a supermarket being run by the grand children of the founder. Two generations after. What I observed is that they don't view their work as a means to get salary. They place it in the context of value their work has for the larger society. If you see a truck driver, he would tell you that he has to get the goods to the location on time because people need them. A food vendor would tell you that she has to open because people need to feed. She feels that if the business closes for one day that people would not get to eat and in that way she has failed them. But over here we attached monetary gains to a job and not the value it creates. That is why we attched prestige to jobs because we see them as social titles and not for their value. Same reason why people would go abroad and do menial jobs that they would not have done here in the first place. We don't cherish the dignity in labour here. So how would you convince your kid who wants to be a highflyer to come into your business and grow it after your demise. Even if he comes in, you would not want him to start at the bottom like the others because you feel it would demean his/your status as the owner, forgetting that it is in the trenches that one learns the trick of the trade. How do you now expect generational transfer of wealth when we see our jobs as social titles and not value they create? |
