But these guys beat their earnings?
Quite salient points you have raised. But I have this hypothesis that if a stock increases in value days to it's earnings call, it is usually not a good sign. If it drops, it is a good sign. Take APPL, TSLA and MSFT as examples. But you can never know with Mr Market

I read someone lost money on trvn, do they not read charts.

Trvn entry should be 2.22 or don't take the trade. Simple

fabienjoe:
The cost of production is only a tiny fraction of the cost of drugs and vaccines. The major factor is research. For every drug molecule that ever makes it to human consumption, there are perhaps tens of other substances in which the company has invested heavily but could not make it for all sorts of reasons. The one that proves safe and effective and granted registration has to pay for all that investment. That is why patents are granted to such novel drugs, giving the company monopoly of production and sale for several years. They are free to fix the prices without competition. They only become cheaper down the line when the patent expires and other companies are allowed to replicate the formula. That the reason HIV drugs were too expensive initially but there were protests especially from Africans as the drugs were out of reach of Africans who were having a huge HIV burden. Generics were then discretionally allowed to be produced in India for Africans even before the expiry of the patent, purely on humanitarian grounds. The pricing are not necessarily out of greed. If the companies don't invest in research or if they go under because they could not operate profitably, humanity suffers. COVID vaccines are likely to come out expensive but I expect governments to subsidize them.
You are right, but is there anyway these costs can be verified? Pharmaceutical companies have always held society by the balls by citing high research costs which have to be factored into the price of drugs. Why don't the cost of these drugs go down even after economies of scale has taken place?

Vaccines are usually very cheap and sometimes free. $10 is too much
Have you seen the prices the pharmaceutical companies are quoting for Covid vaccines? You would think $10 is a philanthropic gesture for a vaccine that costs $4 to produce. The pharmaceutical companies want to cash out big time.

Its good to be liquid but excess liquidity is bad. It makes no sense siting on a large pile of cash without using it to generate value for shareholders. Also, the past success enjoyed by the company from the unveiling of their iconic Iphone brands to me, seems to be over due to tough competition and gross imitation by the Chinese.

Therefore, there is need to exercise caution and not be carried away by the old glory of the company. Note that Iphone is their cash cow and if its sales is now threatened by competition and trade war between US and China (with china being their biggest market), your guess is as good as mine.

For me, i still maintain that Apple is overvalued as such the price needs to fall drastically.

DD still advised.
Apple.makes.more money from its services than products. For the last two quarters revenue and earnings from services has risen very fast while that from products has slowed down. So if the sales of iPhone is affected by Chinese competition, Apple is already two steps ahead of that. Microsoft alone pays Apple $7bn annually to be used exclusively on Apple products. A company that recorded its best ever quarter when others are reporting a 90% decline in revenue (not income), I dont think Apple is overvalued.

I think airline would be better off in long time frame. With the race for vaccine heating up, you don't want to be chasing a moving train once a vaccine is approved. The sector has been reacting positively to news of the vaccine trials. Just do your checks and act.

You take glory in a non polarised system like Lebanon. Whilst you are aware that Nigeria has been polarised due to ethnocentrism; consequently preventing a cohesive voice nation, both of us should be aware that this is the edge Lebanon has over Nigeria. Like Lebanese, we don’t even trust the Nigerian govt to receive foreign aids but how do we channel our rebuttals when we struggle with national cohesion and unity? I still maintain my stand; Lebanon is a haven compare to Nigeria.
Who told you that Lebanon does not have different ethnic groups?

Smiles.. I would rather watch BBC and Aljazeera than watch CNN or FOX...

Probably what you read/heard some months ago but not yet updated about the latest.

The PUA benefits for August is currently on suspension due to both Democrats and Republicans couldn't reach a compromise... That means 40% of Americans are liable to eviction....

300k death toll is predicted before December if necessary measures are not taking to contain Covid.

How many Americans have lost their jobs?

USA economy is presently heading towards recession..

Trump that used to vote via mailing is now suggesting it could lead to fraud.

Don't even let me talk about Trump contradicting himself severally about the Corona issue

Get updated bro
Anybody with common sense knows that the jobs and the economy is not due to Trump's shenanigans. In fact he has done a good work in trying to revive the economy with unemployment numbers going down since may.

The Democrats want to keep borrowing and giving bailouts without accountability. For how long? You can't just keep borrowing and paying people not to go to work. And these same people don't even pay their rents.

Las las na Trump go win.

I just felt I should say that the market could experience a downturn soon. The crashing dollar, upcoming elections and possibility of finding a vaccine soon could throw things off balance and spark a massive selloff from tech stocks. The current market appears to be outperforming last year. This is very unusual in the middle of a pandemic and analysts have suggested that this is a signal that there is a bubble that is about to burst.

I see myself moving away from single stocks and biotech arenas into the more generalised field of ETFs. Highly geared, high equity beta and negative EPS stocks are likely to be worst hit from my experience. I am not being alarmist, just felt like saying this and to make us all prepared for what is to come.
Nobody is going to shut down the economy, vaccine or not.

The market would continue its momentum till close to elections. This has always been the case every election year. And with the Feds saying they would so whatever it takes, no wahala.

As per tech, anybody buying into tech should be doing so for long term. But if you wan sell , no wahala , e go give us juicy pickings.

Anything that would limit face to face communications/transactions, reduce money spent on renting office or paying people ; or the energy (fossil fuels) is here for the long term.

Before you comment, read first.

And do some research on the military. Especially your country's military.

As a junior officer, your superior is always right, even when sometimes and most times, senior officers abuse the privilege. Military chain of command clearly states the responsibility of both senior (as role models) and juniors (more or less robots)

You dare not, contend anything, (unless permitted) with your senior officer or commander.

Unlike you civilians that go by human rights etc, the military glorifies command. And it's a two way result--- it is responsible for the unique force and discipline as expected by the military, but also a protection for erring and undeserving seniors.

By speaking against your superior, not to talk of a general, and even your commander in chief, on a public forum (not military audience) is actually looked at as disgracing your service. The punishment is severe depending on the magnanimity of your superior.

That is why to effect change needed, there would be a bloody putsch (revolt) by the junior ranks against the superior. And it must be successful. Not talking and ranting on social media like civilians.
Please tell them. They think its by reading text books on liberalism

You want the best product at the best prices is you being a consumer. That is what consumers do.
Have you thought about the economic impact of having people sell tissues and toilet paper to you and then have to repatriate those profits?
So if I invest $25m as an FDI through CBN and I stay in Nigeria for 20years and repatriate an equivalent of $200m over that timeframe to my country, would you say Nigeria gained from this deal?
Is that not stupidity?
Yes consumers will be happy and feeling irate but what happens to your national wealth?
That is $200m earned from crude oil being wasted on a bullshit retail company being sent back to oyibo land for $25m investment in the name of profit repatriation and then later you will come and complain that Nigeria don't have light.
Where do you want them to get the fx to use to buy the power generating assets from when all of their reserves have almost been depleted by fx repatriation? undecided
Another threat is this nonsense AB-Inbev that came the other day and are already overtaking Nigerian brands.
