It was never an argument, apart from top speed, badger is superior in every single way
Badger CANNOT swim across lake Chad from Nigeria into Chad. BTR-4 will do the job....one of the many points of BTR-4 superiority

The badger is not a dream. In fact there are has many bashers in SA has BTR4 is Nigeria. You do know your BTR4 are from a batch Iraq rejected due to it not being up to standard. Most of the 47 where taken by the Ukraine army. You have a tiny number of Iraq rejects.
Iraq rejected them for body welding defects, not internal systems or weapons. Ukraine fixed the welding issue and purchased them.

47 units in all, number sold to Nigeria not known, so you need to prove it's a tiny number out of the 47....it could be 4, it could be 40, nobody knows. Stick to what you know mister

Do you even no what SEAD is. I mean it not carpet bombing.
Did I say carpet bombing? Do a SEAD with long range PGMs on terrorists that have civilians as human shield and let's hear what Amnesty International will say on BBC and CNN.

Your country does not know real war, SANDF is a photography club, simple

There is nothing modern about it. They just changed the lay out of the old BTRs. She is no more modern than the iklwa. Compared to the badger she is just a target.
Citation needed.

Everything South Africa does not buy, is not modern. Badger IFV is a 15 years old design still on table and obsolete by 2020 when it enters service after almost 20 years delay, that one you will say it is modern. Mumu grin grin

Hahaha - the delusions continue.

Yes they were compared - and apart from top speed the BTR-4 was inferior in every conceivable catagory

- Badger has better armor
- Carrys more men
- Better situational awareness
- Better weapons systems
- All weapons systems have longer effective ranges
- better troops carrying capacity
- more modular design makes it more versatile
- more advanced optics and communications
- better mine and IED protection
- better performance in combat (surviving multiple RPG and IED hits in Iraq)

Badger iFV is hands down the most dangerous, best protected, most advanced IFV in Africa and a world leader in its class - and we are getting 236 of them

And we dont care about so called "secret arsenals" we care about what can be proven.
We spent a whole 2 weeks debating this topic last month, I won't go back into it. Southies seem to have a spirit of repeating old arguments to prove no single point. Time wasters. BTR-4 was proved here to beat the Badger, one video one photo clears it all.

CASE CLOSED, I won't waste my time on this !

This argument is nonsensical

Germany has not fought a war since WW2 - are you saying Nigeria is superior to them because of that?

Many many men and women in the SANDF are veterans of the Bush Wars. And when 60 000 cubans struggle to defeat 4000 south africans it shows just how competent we are

Again, the fact that we live in a peacefull part of the world is not a bad thing - its a good thing.

Our skills and training are obviously superior - thats why your government has hired us to train your men.

To a well trained army, combat is not a test - it should be nothing more than live fire exercises - as was demonstrated by the Americans during the invasion of Iraq.
American army is always experienced in war, they came from Vietnam war into Iraq, and USA has overwhelming numbers of very sophisticated weapons including long range cruise missiles that needs no soldier experience, they just fire it 1,000 km away and destroy Iraqis.

South Africa does not have up to 1% of American weapons. Stop comparing dude !

Germany has no current war experience, but they have massive numbers of very sophisticated weapons and equipment that will overwhelm any African country except Egypt.

South Africa is 100 times weaker than Germany is weapons and equipment, so no comparison.

4,000 SADF did not fight 60.000 Cuban soldiers, we have proved that here many times.

SADF 4,000 + UNITA/FNLA/ETC approx 100,000.

Then most of the SADF recces and elite forces were Angolans, Zimbabweans, etc.

South Africa has ZERO capability to fight war alone according to your cowardly war history in the past 100 years grin grin

No augugbugug - it is a civilian grade life raft installed on a military ship because as usual Nigeria is unable to impliment systems properly.

No manufacturer specs say that it is invisible to radar - none at all. Simply looking at the design you can see that it is not stealth - all that deck clutter.

Finally, that is not a video of YOUR OPV being sea tested - that is stock video from a propmotional video for the vessel. No missiles were tested on your vessel, and it is not modular.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6AQ-J4EEgPY

Your vessel is not a warship - so stop trying to promote it as such
Bwahahaha grin grin

This will be hilarious, I will take down this comment part by part...BTWN...the warship in your you tube video is firing missile sideways, the ship in my own video fired missile in vertical launchers....shows you what will happen when I reply later grin grin

Land equal to size of Belgium
You Boko Haram map does not tell us how many square meters of land is marked in that 'control' zones, I said tell us how many square meters of land Boko is said to 'control' so we can see how it matches the size of Belgium .

The map includes areas already liberated, like Michika, Konduga, Chibok, etc. Show us the date of that your map, today's date is January 31, 2015....what is the date of your map ?

Nigeria has about 774 local governments and well over 5,000 towns, Boko Haram infiltrators are still in less than 10 towns as at today, so they are in 0.002 % of Nigerian land = 2,000 SQM, the size of Belgium = 30,000 SQM

See how foolish you and your white-men's media/news reporters are? You and the foreign journalists are mathematical illiterates grin grin

Enter The BVP M80 Infantry Fighting Vehicle....

Nigerian Army Buys More IFVs....full arsenal remains secret !

.

https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/6/63/BVP_M80A_Vidra_2.jpg/640px-BVP_M80A_Vidra_2.jpg

To the untrained eye, many may confuse the BVP M80 with the Russian BMP-2 at first glance, however the easiest way to recognise the M80 (&M80A) is it has five road wheels (these are the ones between the front and rear wheels, which are called drive and return wheels) where as the Russian BMP’s have six. The M80’s also have smaller turrets and overall are almost half a meter shorter.

The M-80 was the former Yugoslavia’s first IFV and first prototypes were delivered to the Army for field testing in 1974. It entered service & full production in 1982, but had a short run of just a year and was replaced with the improved M-80A.

Mobility

The original M80 used a 260hp French engine as used in their AMX-10 APC. However the M80A used the improved 315hp German Daimler-Benz, which gave an increased speed and power to weight ratio and was built under licence by FAMOS.

The vehicle is fully amphibious after erection of the water trim and is propelled by the vehicles tracks.

Protection

The vehicle was steel in construction, but is believed to have used Aluminium / Titanium on top of this, similar to the Bradley, but offered better protection over the BMP-2. It was equipped with smoke grenade dischargers and diesel could be injected on to the hot exhaust to generate smoke screens. An NBC and fire suppression system in the infantry compartment was installed.

Firepower

The principal weapon is the HS 804, 20mm auto cannon and carries total of 1400 rounds.

For close encounters it uses a coaxial 7.62mm MG and carries a total of 2000 rounds.

The vehicle has a turret roof mounted twin launcher, which fires the Russian AT-3 Sagger Anti-Tank Wire Guided Missile, which is licence manufactured. 4 further missiles are stored in the vehicle. The launcher is reloaded via the two roof hatches in the infantry section of the vehicle (at the rear of the hull).

The embarked infantry can also support close encounters with their personal arms by firing through the 3 ports on either side of the vehicle in their compartment. Each port has a periscope for aiming.

Crew

The driver sits front left, with the commander directly behind him, with the engine to their right. The one man turret is located in the centre of the vehicle, housing the gunner. 6 infantrymen are in the rear and sit back to back, (3per side) down the centre. The disembark via two large doors in the rear of the vehicle.

Variants

The M80 AK

BVP M80AK – New one man turret (angled sides, older M80 & M80A are circular) with a 30mm main gun and Sagger launcher.

BVP M80A1 – Two man turret armed with twin 30mm Anti-Aircraft guns, prototype only.

BVP M80A KC – Company commanders vehicle.

BVP M80A KB – Battalion commanders vehicle.

BVP M80A LT anti-tank – New turret with a ready to fire launcher, which holds 6 Stagger missiles at once.

BVP M80A Sn – Non turret ambulance.

SAVA – Low altitude SAM system.

They far from ultra modern.

How many you getting.
In your absence from forum, we have fully compared BTR-4 with NATO's Patria and SANDF Badger, the technical specs all round makes BTR-4 better than anything SANDF can hope to buy as IFV.

Numbers of BTR-4 in NA are classified, secret.

Nigeria has many IFVs, nobody knows the full arsenal of Nigerian military.

We have BTR-3 IFV, BTR-4 IFV, BVP M80 IFV.

Reputable sources say that next week more BVP IFV will arrive Nigeria from Czech republic by air in about 3 days time.

Nobody knows all Nigerian weapons, secret secret, only this week did we know Nigeria has missile armed drones....secret !

It called SEAD. Recovery of personal from hostile with enemy anti air arround by helicopter is very common.
SEAD = Suppression Of Enemy Air Defences

Can you ask SAAF to use Gripen jet to carry out SEAD on your own people if terrorists invade Soweto township? You know how many people will die in a high calibre weapons/ordnance SEAD campaign when innocent civilians become human shield victims of terrorists, I think you don't know the difference between fighting war inside your own house and fighting in a foreign land. USA and NATO were trigger happy to do air campaign SEAD on Iraq and killed thousands of civilians, if the enemy is inside New York city, will they launch the same massive air strike on the heads of their own fellow Americans?

It is easy to use other countries' territory for military weapon testing and shooting practice experiment, America was using aircraft fired depleted radioactive uranium cannon shells on Iraq, can they use it on an enemy inside American territory?

Beheading of who? A different face or of the original captured pilot? Your troops knew from the get go that a pilot was captured but took their time. Simple. Cowards
Your own SANDF army, air force and navy are all sitting down at home fvcking their wives and girlfriends and you shameless Southies want to judge NA, NAF, and NN fighting a 5 year war and NN fighting 7 year piracy at sea....you make yourselves judge of what you cannot do, lazy bones SANDF....all you have i a leaking basket mouth to judge those climbing a mountain while you sit down at the roadside watching.

When will your 3 SANDF armed forces be tested in a big war theater in very recent times to show us your real combat performance as at today 2015? Cowards, all you talk about is 1980s bush war fought by dead men and retired white apartheid officers who failed to defeat tiny Cuba that sailed 10,000 km across the ocean to fight SADF in your SADC region of influence. Teenage soldier/pilot boys and girls from Cuba almost defeated South African military in Angolan bush war.

Show me a war South Africa ever won fighting alone in the last 100 years.....show me one !

Just some weeks ago US NAVY SEALS, so called best special forces in the world tried to rescue one American and one South African man held by ISIS, operation failed as both hostages were killed. To you, war is a video game, reason why you always like @THIZA's photo album.

Let SANDF go back to Bangui and recover your Gecko vehicles the way NA recover or Cobra APC....your Soweto cowards will NEVER try that...cowards !

Pirates know well that SAN is not a park where you can just walk over with impunity. We really do not need an OPV to send a strong message to them.
There is no wealth and riches inside your poverty stricken oceans to attract sea pirates, thieves don't go to where there is nothing valuable to steal. Transfer Angola's oil and gas wealth to South African ocean and swarms of pirates will relocate to your backyard.....then you get screwed, your navy has no Stealth OPV, Stealth MPV, Stealth IPV, High Speed sea interceptors, MPA high endurance aircraft with ISTAR capabilities....then you will know why Nigeria bought 300 anti-piracy vessels instead of Frigates and Submarines

One instance doesnt mean it is standard.

And fact remains, we have one of the best academies in the world. You dont have an internationally recognized one.

And finally, no SANDF troops are under Nigerian command.
Stop asking people to repeat citations posted here many times. SANDF officers failed academy exams and get promoted.

"And UN lambasts discipline of South Africa’s ‘poorly trained’ troops.

The officer in charge of training soldiers for deployment to the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) is an exam cheat.

And in another embarrassment for the SA National Defence Force (SANDF), a top UN official sharply criticised the discipline and combat readiness of South African soldiers in Sudan in a recent letter.

Brigadier-General Sithabiso Mahlobo, who was found guilty in 2002 of cheating in exams, is in charge of the training of soldiers who are in the process of being deployed to the war-torn North Kivu province of the DRC.

He is the commander of 46 SA Brigade in Kengray, Joburg."

Again, there are no pirates in Mozambique

And again, SAN is composed of more than Frigates
Report was posted here last year and confirmed SAN chased pirates but could NEVER catch one grin

There are very few pirates in Mozambique waters because there is NOTHING valuable there except fishes grin

Put Nigeria and Angola's oil and gas in Mozambique channels with all the oil companies working there, then you will see piracy beyond what the whole SADC navies can control....your region has no single stealth OPV and modern MPA aircraft to do the job grin

I posted pics of her, spoke to her crew, meet the Chinese people sailing with and can confirm she is not stealth. Sure not big on the radar. But stealth she is not.

Still she is a nice patrol boat. But the choice of a giant orange life raft is odd to day the least.
Orange colour boat might be choice for easy ID at sea in deep offshore waters, it is unique and the crew knows their boat different from pirates boats at sea, easy ID at a distance if sailors want to shoot at pirates or see how their own boat crew is faring afar off, also easy to see in storm for rescue and pick up.

LOL, you are always intimidated by Nigerian Navy's stealth fleet of 2 units of OPVs, 2 units of MPVs, 60 units of IPVs, 62 stealth vessels that South African navy does NOT have....reason why you say Nigerian stealth ships are not stealth, LOL...stealth capability built in Europe and Asia...Manufacturer specs clearly and repeatedly says NNS Centenary is stealth and TOTALLY invisible to enemy radar at a long distance, only at close distance will radar detect a much smaller image and think it is a canoe or tiny fishing boat.

The video also shows the sea trials prove the ship is modular and can be easily reconfigured from OPV to light frigate in case war arises, the ship has amidships on deck midpoint vertical missile launchers and astern mid deck vertical rocket launchers, all tested at sea before hand over to NN, but likely all launchers removed after testing and debugging to return it to regular OPV status. The missile test is shown in the video at minutes 1:30 to 1:40, clean and clear !

It's no big deal to understand for intelligent folks....

It doesnt say that

This is what it says:

The training, which was held at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji, Kaduna State, drew participants from 11 agencies and organisations, as well as Senior Course 36 of the college. Other participants were from South Africa ,Togo, Cameroon, Gambia, Burkina Faso, Benin Republic, Liberia, Sierra Leone and Ghana.

Can you read?
Yes I can read, and it does say what I claimed, and in addition to that, it shows 10 countries with 103 students in class, so South Africa has several senior COIN war operatives as participants, students in Nigerian army military college sitting down beside Cameroon and Togo learning COIN war tactics and strategy from Nigerian army, we have reduced you down to student level like Togo and Cameroon, that is the class you belong.

So, it says what I claimed :

"Jaji (Kaduna), NIGERIA - A total of 103 counter insurgency operatives from Nigeria and nine other African countries have concluded a four-week intensive training on internal security.

Graduation of Basic Counter-Terrorism Course for soldiers of the 70th Regular intake in Jaji

The Commandant of the college, Air Vice Marshal John Ifemije, said on Friday at the close of the training that it was meant to enhance the preparedness of the personnel in confronting internal security challenges. He noted that "dealing with complex security challenges these days goes beyond the conventional techniques.

Ifemije urged the participants to use the knowledge gained from the training to strengthen inter agency cooperation, share information and intelligence, adhere to rules of engagement and to seek for the intervention of the military whenever necessary. The commandant commended them on their conduct throughout the exercise and urged them to remain committed to their responsibilities.

Earlier, the Director, Department of Joint Studies of the college, Brig-Gen. Benjamin Ahanato said the training code named 'EX HASKE BIYU,' was the participants to value "joint consultation, sharing of information and freedom of action."
