BH is a sub-regional threat. Yes.

That's because your security forces failed to curb their insurgency at its incipient, when the movement's arsenal was in dribs and drabs. Like their leader described in their last video: "we who started with sticks and machetes".

Under the watch and futile COIN campaign of your military they didn't disintegrate but rather built up their fighting force, obtained massive arms and started being a huge problem.

Your neighbours are now helping, as BH a Nigerian problem is now capable of launching attacks and kidnapping people in their land.
You are very very very very very very wrong !!!!!!!

Boko Haram actually started in Mali using another name. They infiltrated Nigeria a little. They grew Very strong in Mali and successfully defeated the army and air force of Mali. The Malian army blamed their government for poor equipment and overthrew their president in a coup.

Nigeria offered to help Mali, but the new military government said they don't want Anglophone military intervention, they chose Francophone help and France plus Chad were invited. ECOWAS demanded that Mali allow Nigerian army and air force to join France because of our ECOMOG track record of success which also attracted envy from the world of those who have failed where Nigerian army succeeded.

Nigeria deployed land and air power to Mali and immediately the Malian Islamic insurgents leadership sent a message to Nigeria promising to retaliate on Nigeria's territory if they lose Mali.

Yes they lost Mali and resurfaced in Nigeria as Boko Haram reloaded. There are hundreds of thousands of Malians living permanently in Nigeria trading and working everywhere.

They linked up with the Northern Nigerian tribal Islamic fundamentalists and grew into Boko Haram, then connected to Chadian and Cameroonian Islamic fundamentalists, so you get today's multinational Boko Haram that is based in Nigeria, Chad, Cameroon, crossing borders at will.

Only way to finish them is by multinational forces squeezing them from all 3 sides, or else, they flee from final offensive in Nigeria and relocate to Chad and Cameroon.

Another force will later arise from there after they rest, regroup, rearm, restrategize. Common sense demands all 3 countries to attack Boko Haram at the same time.

Why is a rag tag useless army part of MNJTF? Why would Nigeria associate themselves with such? Put your troops on the border with Chad and render Chad's help null and void. But the truth....you rely on them big time. They are your saving grace.
Chad is saving itself, if they don't join the fight from their borders, Nigeria is rolling out massive tanks, artillery, and combat aircraft on all Boko Haram positions at the same time, then the fleeing Bokos will run into Chad....and it becomes a big Chadian problem with 10,000 Bokos living inside their territory....who wants to cohabit with Boko fighters in battalions and brigade numbers? Chad Fights Boko Haram in Nigeria as Call Goes Out for Regional Force

Chadian military forces liberated a Nigerian town from Boko Haram militants on Friday, hours after the African Union’s top official called on Nigeria’s neighbors to contribute to a 7,500-strong multinational force to combat the Islamist insurgency escalating beyond the country’s borders and prevent the destabilization of the West African region.
LOL...you missed this thread for one week, so let me repeat what your fellow Southies posted here in your absence.

AU multinational force 7,500 is made up of the same old MNJTF force including Nigeria, only addition is Benin republic because it shares border with the Boko threat region. All soldiers will be based in their home country with mandate to cross border if need arises and return home after fighting.

I pity you Southies, so disappointed that NO new AU force of nations like South Africa is deploying in Nigeria, your hopes crashed, your dreams collapsed in just 7 days....so so very sad for you...Sorry o ! grin grin

Chadian military helicopters have struck Boko Haram positions in the Nigerian border town of Gamboru.

Chadian aircraft have struck Boko Haram positions in the Nigerian border town of Gamboru for a second straight day.

Two military choppers pounded targets in Gamboru for about two hours on Sunday, setting off loud explosions and sending thick clouds of smoke into the sky, an Agence France-Presse reporter said from the town of Fotokol about 500 metres away.

The town in far northeastern Nigeria, on the border with Cameroon, was already strafed by two Chadian fighter jets on Saturday.
Reason why we say ALL South Africans are born fools. So because white-men's new media say Chadian helicopters bomb targets you just believe them because you have no brain fiber to challenge their claims....LOL Soweto is sprawling with Mumus !

T-72 A.T.E which is an upgrade that makes it fully 3rd gen, its done by A.T.E (same people who do the super-hind).

You dont have "battalions" of T-72's, you have a very limited number

Your T-72 has only got ERA - Olifant has composite armor. Plus, you will never see the Olifant, Ratel-ZTE will be hunting them as soon as they are spotted

Olifant has more modern systems than the T-72's you have in service
How many have they sold and how many do they have in stock in South Africa ?

Chad troops enter Nigeria in offensive against Boko Haram

on February 03, 2015 / in News 12:43 pm / Comments

Chadian ground troops on Tuesday crossed into Nigeria for the first time as part of an offensive against Boko Haram Islamists, an AFP correspondent saw.

Armoured vehicles and infantry crossed a bridge that links the Cameroonian town of Fotokol with Nigerian town of Gamboru, which has been taken back over the weekend from the jihadists who occupied it for several months, according to Nigerian national security spokesman Mike Omeri. Up till now, the Chad military had conducted air strikes against the militants.

Yes they are Chadian Bokos, so Chad should go fix her shiit under the MNJTF agreement....Nigeria is fixing our own origin Bokos in Maiduguri city and Konduga town where we have killed over 500 terrorists in 3 days, every country is now fixing shiit that originated from his home territory under Multinational Joint Task Force Agreement that allows troops to cross borders and fighting within a set distance.

I'll leave my reply very short because i refuse to waste my time. Combat troops deploy with engineers. Engineers deploy with the necessary equipment needed in the region the troops will be fighting in. You clearly didnt do geograpghy because rivers and lakes dont "suddenly" appear out of nowhere. Maps of the area would have been studied, and necessary equipment needed to deal with the terrain brought along.

Amphibious vehicles are good, but a bad idea for very large bodies of water. Chances are your enemy will have a brown water navy. Their purpose built boats will tear your Cobras appart. So good luck taking your Cobras accross the Atlantic ocean....and watch your men turned into mince.
Brown water navy? Nigeria has the best brown force in the world today !

When you see an APC in the ocean, they are going towards their own navy amphibious ships to carry them or they were dropped by their own navy amphibious landing crafts to go on to land invasion.

I said they fight across rivers and lakes.

If we go abroad with army only, its Nigerian army amphibious armoured vehicles combination of Cobras, BTR-4, and others including our amphibious Sagaie Tank Destroyers with 90mm long range cannon that will wipe out any brown water enemy gun boat that shows up....oh, I just remembered South Africa has nothing like Sagaie amphibious tank destroyer, your unlucky SANDF is cursed to be a dry land only army for just homeland, sorry o ! grin grin

So when you climb onto a ferry which travels from one end of a lake to another....you technically have not crossed the lake unless you get into the water and get wet? Nice logic

That is a picture of SA Army engineers executing a Ratel water crossing. You can deal with it and make peace with it however you like.
When your weak Soweto army travels and deploys overseas to another country, you carry bridges along inside C-130 transport?

Do you know the size and weight of those bridges and ferries?

When your army needs mobility on a battle field do you carry bridges/ferries around in every part of war zone? Your bridge men will be the first that Boko Haram will kill with 23mm cannon grin

Also, those ferries carry ONLY 1 single vehicle at a time ! Nigerian army swims across the same river driving 100 vehicles at a time !

You cannot use mobile bridge on wide lake like lake Chad ! It is as wide as a whole village....try put mobile bridge on lake Victoria grin

Can your obsolete SANDF put mobile bridge across the mighty Atlantic Ocean ? See modern Nigerian army type of Cobra APCs in photo below !

If your army is in distant operation from base and suddenly meets a river between them and their target that must be approached urgently before the enemy arrives, SANDF will phone or radio base 100km away to send them bridges? While waiting a whole day for bridges the enemy has crossed the river and beaten your army to the target, they have operated and long gone away before dry land only army arrives to launch bridge or ferry and go see the ashes and ruins and dead bodies of victims left behind by the enemy that has amphibious vehicles like Nigerian army.

South Africa in electricity supply crisis, begins to copy Nigerian technology ! grin grin

Goodluck Jonathan shows Mandela's people how to draft national energy policy o ! grin grin
.

The Federal Government has started installing electronic monitors to check the vandalism of gas pipelines as part of measures aimed at ensuring regular power supply, the Minister of State for Power, Mr. Mohammed Wakil, has said.

He expressed confidence that the recent privatisation of the power sector would soon yield visible results, noting that South Africa was already emulating the exercise, which he described as a model for many other countries.

Wakil said this on Saturday in an interview with journalists in Abuja.

The minister said in due course, Nigerians would soon be taking power supply for granted.

He said, “Power supply will become what Nigerians can take for granted. We are expanding investment in the transmission sector through the involvement of the private sector.

“The distribution companies are investing in system upgrade, like South Africa is about to start. The generation companies are busy with the upgrade, especially after the administration had addressed the gas-to-power issue. We are installing electronic monitors to check incessant vandalism of gas pipelines by enemies of the nation.”

Wakil said South Africa was emulating the Nigerian privatisation model for the transformation of its ailing energy sector.

This, he argued, was a vindication of the durability of the policies and programmes of the President Goodluck Jonathan administration.

He said the crisis rocking the South African power sector had necessitated the country to draft a power sector privatisation bill now before its parliament.

The minister said, “Nigeria has become a model for power sector reforms in Africa. A bill, almost like our 2005 Electricity Sector Reform Act, is in the works in the South African parliament. We must commend President Goodluck Jonathan for this.
