God bless you for this gems. I believe lots of people would have benefitted from this. koonbey: Practicing as a solicitor would require doing the SQE, yes, but the person should think carefully about that because law firm places are very limited and the likelihood of getting a training contract or straight associate role is very limited unless one has a Tier 1 commercial practice experience from back home.
For most people it's more practical to target jobs that benefit from a legal background without requiring legal qualification. See my preceding post.
After doing those roles for a while it'll be clear whether qualification via the SQE is necessary or worth it, and more crucially, the money will be there to fund it. |

She studied General Law in Msc koonbey: What's your specialty? What did you study in the MSc? There are many legal roles (privacy and IT GRC generally, corporate governance, AML/CFT, etc.) you can apply for that would benefit from a legal background but don't require being called in the UK. Just search 'paralegal', 'legal' on LinkedIN in combination with your specialty, and you should see a plethora of open jobs. |

God bless you. Well detailed and beneficial. semmyk: To practice, there's no way around it. Not not, not in the near future. With 5yrs university teaching experience, LTE the fellow gives the Associate Fellowship a shot. See https://www.advance-he.ac.uk/fellowship#categories
Regarding lectureship and doctorate, let's put it this way. One can become a university lecturer without a PhD. However, it's a tall order (a bi na impossicant Dem dey call am) Nonetheless, in some discipline, it is relatively possible. I know some that were recruited even from their home country without a doctorate: one was in multimedia. In law, like most social sciences and humanities, your PhD rules! However, even in law, being a practicing Solicitor/Barrister and handling landmark cases (not necessarily high profile), one might be able to get lectureship. For direct recruitment from outside, I wouldn't know. For in-country, #possible.
Which path is possible. The post and earlier posts referred to, should give ideas. |

Thanks for this eye opener, God bless you Sir, even though the person in this scenario was a lecturer in Nigeria. To pratice as a solicitor here, she has been advise to do SQE and SQE2 which cost a fortune, we are looking for alternatives that cost less or nothing sef to fall in. Which path is almost straight forward with no special cert exam . Just with Bsc,Msce and teaching experience of almost 5years. How true is it that you can’t become a lecturer here without PhD? semmyk: Whereas you desire minting some Charlies and whereas you seek pathways in the YouKay, be it noted that In the UK, you have two main categories, further split into many subs. The practicing: Solicitor (typically interface with public) and the Barristers (mainly representation). Some then get on to be judicial. The other are the non practicing mostly in your corporates (M&A, international finance ...) and legal depts. Some are into compliance, eg Registry in university, and mortgage institutions. The pathway is broad.
In the circumstances, your lack of sufficient particularities and cause of action, your post stands down. All rise!! 😂 PS: I'm not a practicing Solicitor (Attorney) nor Barrister (Advocate). I'm only conversant in law and a PG in law. Above is not a binding legal advisory as contemplated in law |

Better you start somewhere with the data analyst job first then you progress to whatever you want. You need Uk experience oo. Teebaa: Please folks in the Uk that are into IT.
How do you see the prospect of learning cybersecurity with Itcareer switch?
Seriously on the lookout for a UK experience /internship in an IT course.
I am an entry level data analyst without any UK real project yet and no jobs being offered except data entry roles with very low pay.
Data analysis trainings are quite expensive and i do not consider High Impact career trainings ideal for a UK experience.

Elders will help you with the credit scores. As for starting with IT, I will advise you apply to do this courses Google IT Support and IBM Technical Support on Coursera using the Financial Aid so you won’t pay Shishi. After that make sure you pratice using home labs. With the above just start applying form Entry Trch Support jobs. Like I stated try to pratice with home labs topics like Active Directory etc. Follow this guy Kelvin Apolinario on LinkedIn, he does help. pheranmie: Hi bosses I have been in the uk for 6 months my credit score has been the same same 537 I have set up my rent as standing order my house wifi as DD though my electricity bill is eon key payments method and I have also put my name on the register I don’t know what I have been doing wrongly.
Also I intend to start a career on IT path I don’t know know how to get started. Currently I am doing support and trust me I have projected how this will look it this kind of work won’t definitely give me the life style I want . Please any advice on how I can start from the scratch on this journey. Thank you |

Thanks boss lightnlife: Honestly, I'll say stay and max out your contribution which gets matched by your employer. It's free-money without taxation.
If you opt out, what alternative scheme are you looking to go into? Will the ROI march the counterpart funding from your employer post-taxation? Only a little schemes can match up.
While the contributions may look rather minute at the outset and year-on-year, it's gets bigger in years to come. Drops of water makes an ocean - if the drop no stop.
I yield the mic for the honourables. |

Thank you so much for this, Can you please explain what you mean by basic pension and full pension? Ticha: Don't opt out please. You need at least 35 years of NI to access the full pension. And 10 years NI to qualify for basic pension. Even if you move elsewhere, you can still draw that pension. See it as forced savings |

They all concurred and said they heard its almost next to nothing, the price for cable TV to watch games.
Well I didn't tell them I stream all live matches on my laptop, I simply use HDMI cord and watch on my Tv. No be me my village people go send back because these people and gossip na bread and butter .
The UK is a stingy, unfair and hypocritical system.

Thanks for this, I didn’t know this, but why would employers be hiding this kind of information 😫 Estroller: Continue if your circumstances allow it, your future self will thank you. Also try to take the extra free money on offer by maxing out the matching contribution from your employer, find out what the figure is and make a matching contribution, it will further reduce your tax. |
