Sure, I know this topic is a subtle abi delicate issue especially coming from a non-indigene...but the truth must come from somewhere and my moniker forces me to do the needful cheesy

And to allay fears of bigots and ethnic champions, I had to also xray my misgivings with SE states that are erring too...You came in and dropped bottle of origin for someone who's defending the ineptitude of these thieves in the mold of leaders using the maxim; others are owing too...Does my father being a robber justify my having to toe same line?...Some days we need to drop sentiments and give some hard knocks in the mold of truth even to our best of friends...

How do you feel knowing your state is owing debts for the next 30years?...how old are you now? Add 30 to it and see when some people will become free that's if they do not borrow again from now onwards...

Instead of confronting such leaders, their people are confronting me for speaking up...what kind of people are we?...
I think you mean APC SE states
and what do you mean by Osun is owing debts for the next 30 years?

Bros, I don't understand your line of argument...

Is it that ALL SW states are not owing domestically and internationally?

Is it my stance that these debts burden are not sustainable?

Is it my submission that these people are enslaving generations unborn?...At the moment, Osun is already owing for the next 30years...How do you explain to a child born today, that his future has been mortgaged negatively till adulthood...

As for Abia state; they knew where the problem came from and they fought it and are continuing through tribunal...BTW Note that the issue in Abia is about a part(Aba; commercial centre) of the state feeling neglected and abandoned while other part (Umuahia; administrative centre) is being pushed ahead...

Problem of SW is in individuals not in platforms...
Well I don't know if you have any recent information on the economic buoyancy of Nigerian states but as at 2007 the top 10(in terms of GDP) had 4SS states, 2 NW states 3
SW states and 1SE state. Again on the debts some states are sunk in, if you checked that report I quoted it stated that most of the oil-rich states were indebted so the issue is prevalent across the political divide. Osun state YES is at its lowest ebb and I've countlessly denounced the governors incompetence but if you want to go political Osun is actually doing better under the APC.
As for Abia, salaries running into months haven't been paid and the partiality of the government in the equitable distribution of the dividends of democracy confirms its inefficacy

Some of these folks reasoning push one to begin to imagine sometimes if the unfortunate high unemployment rate isn't somewhat justified giving the capacity of brains you would be employing...I wonder f the guy you quoted read and understood this article before jumping to comment and quote you cheesy

Jesuslovesyou, plz how is the poor in Amukoko, Mushin, Ajegunle etc faring under APC 16years?

How's the people of Osun faring after over 11years of APC leadership?

How's these SW states faring compared to their SE/SS mates whose economy ran under same Jonathan administration?

Is anybody sending relief materials to them
Someone pointed it out to you that 18 states were owing salaries and other arrears and the quoted source included PDP and APC states from the North South East and West but of course the hypocritical you trashed it as one of those incoherent ramblings from the APC fanatics. I have never believed that we have political parties in the country, I call them platforms for the attainment of power so the problem has never been about parties but the system in which the country operates. Before that guy responds to the bolded, you mind telling him what Abians have enjoyed for the 16 years under PDP? Not to worry though, I know your reply-The people from there are so strong they don't need government to survive.
As for your nefarious claims of the debt profiles of states, look into this report

Politics / Re: The Untold Story Of PDP’s Coup Behind Saraki’s Senate Presidency - The Nation by AhmedMustapha(m): 4:34pm On Jun 11, 2015

The book of change chapter 9 vs last And there rose a man from the sons of APC named Saraki, whose mother was PDP. He was a fearless man who fought his mother and went to live with his father APC. He rose before his brothers and fought to be crowned the minister in the altar of change but was challenged by the deadly king maker named Tinubu. And it came to pass that on this day the 9th of June, in the days of king Buha, the lion of Daura who was crowned by Tinubu the king maker, that Saraki opened a book in the gospel of change and gave the popular quote of King Buha which says "I belong to everyone and I belong to nobody" a significant meaning. In all stubborness and revolt against his father's house APC, Saraki fought under the anointing from his mother's family PDP, who never stopped loving him and was able to prove to the king maker that the kings quote is real and effective. He defeated the cruel king maker and was handed the holy books of change that he may minister daily from the alter unto everyone in the kingdom
NOTE: This is a joke

I have nothing against the North or Muslims but Dogara is our candidate and not the candidate of Northern establishment(Lawan). He will remain in the House and won't promote the cabal's evil Northern agenda. There Is nothing you can do about it. Nobody can impeach him without the blessings of the South-South, SE and the SW PDP Representatives. Not forgeting those from Plateau state cheesy cheesy
I have nothing against Dogara, I supported Femi Gbaja for the post but immediately he lost and as a believer of politics without bitterness, I congratulated Dogara and wished him well. If there is any motion moved in the house, Dogara's input is as good as useless because the majority will always carry the day-That's why Ihedioha couldn't do anything when Nigeria was made host community. I only said if Dogara wants to play ethnic and religious politics, he will be impeached remember it's not news that Muslims have the majority in the house.

In the House, PDP has 110 members from the south and pdp allies (Apgan Labot and accord) have 10. Totalling 120 from the south alone. 8 Reps are from NC (majorly Plateau,Kogi, Benue and Nasarawa) and another 8 from NE(majorly from Taraba state) the NE, and NC PDP votes totalled 16. 120+16 gives you 136 votes. If you add the votes from Kwara APC reps, few Southern APC reps, Benue APC reps and etc you will get about 30 -35 or more. Add that to 136 you will get (166-171) votes. If you sbtract 166-171 from the 181 votes of Dogara you will be left with 10-15 Northern Muslim votes. How many Northern muslim voted for Gbaja against Dogara?

This will answer the question.
So you now add APGA in your calculations, I hope you know that a MUSLIM from Taraba won under APGA?
1 Femi and Dogara reached out to members of APGA,Labour and Accord. Calling all these parties allies and lumping them in your calculations is just hilarious. I just reminded you that some Northern Muslims won under APGA
2 Of the 8 reps from the NC, I hope you are aware 4 are Muslims?
2 Of the 7 NE reps Taraba produces 3 and 2 are Muslims, Gombe in the NE also produces 2 Muslims with Yobe and Adamawa contributing 1 each so 6 Northern Muslims out of 7
3 In Benue there is one PDP Muslim rep, Nassarawa 2
My point is this- you can't say that Northern Muslims voted against Dogara because most of the members you mentioned that supported him are Muslims. Lumping APGA again in your calculations is just hilarious because the APGA rep from Taraba is a Muslim. Dogara knows how he became speaker and it is not because of some theory that claims southern Christians loved him so much

Does corruption smell in this air or not? In anything human, anything is almost possible so scrap all that absolutes you were promoting.
So you are saying Saraki will defeat PMB in 2019 or what?
Politics / Re: Barcanista & TANoids Missed IT by AhmedMustapha(m): 3:54pm On Jun 10, 2015

You failed to factor PDP legislators from Lagos, Ogun, and some few SW APC legislators that are sympathetic to Hon Yusuf from the SW in your calculation. I said about #150 Southern legislators (that means SS, SE and SW). I never said #150 "PDP" Southern legislators. Then I said "Majority" of the Southern legislators are from the SS and SE. I think comprehension will do here.

I said the North(Majority) are always signed up for Muslim Core Northerners. You have to agree with me that Christian legislators from Adamawa, Plateau, Taraba, Kaduna etc formed majority of the very few northern votes that Dogara got, while the rest came from a few Muslim legislators.

Gbaja's 178 votes majorly came from Northern muslims aka "Core" North and of course from some APC SW legislators. It is false to say the votes of the NW was shared. It wasn't in the real sense.

Anyway, the "northern" establishment refers to the northern cabals that used religion as a tool and not an average northerner that are sometimes deceived by their "leaders".
Well I hate to rain on your political parade but your argument is flawed-I'll tell you how
1 The members of the house from Southern Nigeria are 165 out of 360 in total. PDP has 111 members while APC has 54 members from that number so clearly PDP will need the help of APC members(northern muslims) to install a speaker
2 Is it not hilarious that these 'your few' APC members from the SW will be sympatethic to Yusuf an aspiring deputy speaker but were not sympathetic to Femi of the SW an aspiring speaker? The elections in the house are conducted separately so you can have speaker and deputy from the same geopolitical zone.
3 From points 1 and 2 it is clear that Dogara never had 150 southerners on his side.
4 @ the bolded, you contradict yourself my friend, the few muslims you speak of are northeners
5 The NW votes were shared, you want proof? who nominated Dogara? The NE(the core muslims you speak of) were all behind Dogara
6 As for your statement on Northern establishment, Have you considered passing the message across to Abubakar Shekau?

barcanista:
You keep going from thread to thread to give yourself "hope" but I won't bother arguing with you.

But I will again give you an analysis for the sake of those that don't understand.
1. The North has never supported a Christian Northern minority. Their preference has always been Hausa/Fulani.

2. The North has never supported a Kwaran against a "core" Northerner.

1. The Emergence of Yakubu Dogara as Speaker was a tactical decision by the Southerners. There was TWO big enemies, the APC cabal and the "New PDP" APC faction. The APC/Northern Cabal wanted Femi Gbaja so as to pave way for a core Northern Hon Moguno as Deputy. Over 150 Southerners (majorly from SS-SE) plus about 31 others voted against the candidate of the establishment to pave way for Yakubu Dogara, a christian from Bauchi state. This single act killed the Northern cabals plan.

2. The cabals wanted Lawan Ahmed as SP. However about 40 Southerners and 17 others(majorly from christian north and Kwara) instead went against the game of the establishment to elect Saraki. 51 Senators majorly from the core north and APC SW supported Lawan. It is very clear that the Northern establishment were beaten to the game. Another achievement is the discord created.

Yerima is a Northern politician. He knows that Lawan emergence as SP will mean he will be more powerful than him in Northern affairs. Kwakwaso is eying the Presidency and he wouldn't want another core Northerner to be more powerful than him, same with Atiku. Hence, their support for Saraki.

Three things were achieved:
1. It has nullified the postulation of the Northern cabals and Tinubu's machinery.

2. Because the fate and backbone of Saraki and Dogara rest on the shoulders of the almost 40 Senators and 140 Reps from the South, it means that the South will control the Houses and call the shots from the background.

3. Another achievement is that the consolidation of APC political structure has been dealt a heavy blow, with the PDP regaining its influence in the scheme of things.
My friend why don't you get information or ask from those who know before you fan the flames of ethnic and religious hatred on Nairaland?
1. The reps in the SS/SE[I'm including Edo here] make up just 85 of the 360 members of the house
2. If you add the reps from Ekiti,Ondo and Taraba you get only 106 representatives and Dogara had 182
votes
3. You claim that only christians voted for Dogara[Note that Taraba has 3 muslim reps]
4. The NW split their support between Dogara and Gbaja(so muslims from there voted for Dogara)
5. Dogara is from the NE and muslims from there voted for him
6. The NC was divided.
The elections in the house went smoothly and Dogara emerged winner(he didn't do this without the help of MUSLIMS!)
You should make your point and move on,employing religious and ethnic sentiments to drive them home will do you no good

Saraki must be expelled for the APC leadership to show they are serious. Otherwise they lose the respect and followership of others. Others will feel they can do as they like, after all Saraki did it and got away with it. If Saraki gets away unpunished. APC will disintegrate before it even really begins. So he must be expelled. A party without structure and discipline is a dead party. It would have been different if all the senators were there like Dogara. I really don't fault Dogara's victory. But Saraki's victory and desperationis a very very bad omen for the party.
All the political parties in Nigeria don't have any structure. They are just platforms for the attainment of power

Ahmed, you seem to underestimate Saraki,i bet it with you,he's going to make those senators that were opposing him to support him this time around,he's the senate president, that's what he'll start planning from now,the man is politically smart and dubious,he knows Tinubu will never give him presidential ticket by 2019 because he's the direct competitor of Tinubu,he wants to make sure he surpasses Tinubu by becoming senate president,Tinubu has nothing on him but he has a lot on Tinubu now,as for the vote, pls forget it,Saraki is smarter than that,he has enough money to manipulate it
1. If the bolded happens that means the APC never learn from their mistakes. If those who Saraki is at war with turn around and become his friends it means PMB and APC never played their part of adding fuel to the already burning fire of enmity.
2. Becoming Senate President doesn't mean he has surpassed Tinubu
3. And if you want to talk about money, I know a man called Atiku who emptied his bank account yet couldn't beat the former Gov of Kano so money can never be the game changer

Politics / Re: Buhari Is Sitting On A Time Bomb by AhmedMustapha(m): 1:33pm On Jun 10, 2015
This op you reason like you were born in the year 2015. If Saraki wants to become the President in 2019 there's no problem with that but he would have to go through APC party primaries right? If Saraki's victory was Tinubu's loss that means he will get little or no support from Tinubu camp of APC in the 2019 primaries. With the power of incumbency on PMB's side he should have the support of the NE/NW delegates so no show for Saraki. If Saraki moves to the PDP and picks its presidential ticket, PMB can go to sleep as the margin with which Saraki will be defeated will be wider than that of Jonathan. If 51 APC members are against Saraki that means that PMB can't be impeached as you will need 2/3 of the total number of reps to do that. PMB has neither lost nor gained from what happened yesterday, those who have lost out should learn from their mistakes

It's either Saraki is expelled and a court decision fast tracked on this matter or Buhari will lose reelection. And at the end of the day Saraki will port to the party that looks like it has momentum to keep his mandate. By letting this impunity stand, Buhari is showing that he is weak, and we don't want a weak president. All party decisions must be abided by. He must do something about this. if the senate and HOR are aggrieved, his presidency is completely useless. We will not move forward. This is what PDP wants to regain power. And they will get power back
1. Saraki can't be expelled like that, you need 2/3 majority[what APC doesn' have]
2. Saraki can't leave APC- a new supreme Court judgment just stripped a member of the house who left his party so don't hope to see that many defections again.
3. Buhari isn't showing any sign of weakness, he Promised from day 1 not to interfere with the NA.
3. The NA isn't aggrieved and I don't see how Saraki leading the Senate will stop PMB from implementing whatever plans he has for Nigerians
4.PDP is a political party so just like APC they want power
