Earthquake1:you are absolutely right. I watched their match against SA yesterday. Their transition from defense to attack was mouthwatering and so fast that they caught the south African of guard so many times. Their undoing yesterday was poor decision making in the final third and were also lacking in clinical ability. We only hope they don't get it right when they face us. |
EEGA:Hahaha... Who knows? |
edi287:most people called for my head and thought those who hold the notion that we are heading no where with the man at the helms are ungrateful. With Rohr, We may qualify for next year AFCON and go on to win it. But I don't see him assemble a team that can match the best in the world. I saw Kenya play Ghana today and I was like are these the same teams we might likely face in Cameroon next year? Then we haven't even started preparation. I just pray we qualify. Lybia are not taking it too lightly. SA too won't want to miss out. |
isan:I can see how angry you were too. It seems you belong to the bolded group cos you typed it twice. *smiles* |
edi287:Henry showed confidence in the few minutes he spend on the pitch. Just like Ebuehi did. With Rohr, we might not see the best eagles lineup. |
Things that needs to be done. *We need a solid/new LB. Idowu is not what we are looking for. *We need a no. 9... I don't know who it will be cos we can't continue to manage the ones we are parading as 9s they haven't scored from open play in 1 year... *The need for an attacking/Creative Midfielder. *Rohr is too conservative to take us forward. I don't know why he had to play Awaziem out of position again. When you invited a natural RB in Ajayi against a side like Seychelles. He kept Onyekuru on the bench even when Kalu was showing sign of been tired/injured. If the Federation does not plan to get a new coach, I think it will be better to get a more vocal and sound coach as his Assistant to help him as the man is lacking in idea. I am sure Awaziem would have started ahead of Aina and Ebuehi if they were around. That's to tell you how conservative he is. |
Highlight of the game. Balogun remains our best CB. Ighalo finally scores(happy for him and commends the team for allowing him to take the spot kick) Musa remains our only threat going forward. Nacho had an improved performance. |
Hope you guys are watching this game |
tbaba1234:I can even remember (not on this thread) there was an argument comparing the attractiveness and sleekness in which his side played with the previous sets and the Elders who watched/followed the maiden editions had to vehemently deny that his was the best*smiles* They did agree he dishes beautiful football but Nigeria has had more better sides. I think it was on previous age grade threads. |
Clementoke:Those who have long been following the man pre 2013 success at the cadets level have never questioned his ability to deliver. On his failure to qualify us for the last edition which also came at the backdrop of our inability to qualify for the U-20s world cup a side led by Amuneke, We all knew those failures were as a result of poor planning and less support by the federation. That led to the boys boycotting training on both Occasions prior to crunch encounters. If I can remember vividly, most folks here blamed the two coaches(who worked together alongside Ugbade with the 2013 sets) for not managing the situation well and not the other way round as you want us to believe. |
Garba Manu his pure class. He is second to non when it comes to unearthing talent. His total football style (Mass-Attack, Mass-Defend) is the real deal and I believe we can model our style of play after his. He has always been my choice when it comes to choosing a back up to Rohr even before he landed the u-17 job the second time. If possible I'll love him to be given additional role as the Coach (the post held by Salisu Yusuf) if that's too much, he should be drafted into the back room staffs with corresponding increase in pay packet. This inturn will get him the needed exposure and experience for Senior National Team football. I just hope we have a solid long term plan for the Senior Side... |
The fear of Artificial Turf is the beginning of Wisdom. Remembering those days when Mikel will be the first to pull out anytime we are playing on artificial pitch. |
BascoVanVeli:with the kind of recipe available, I just hope Rohr can cook something tasty. What do you think Safarigirl? |
@gamaliel9, I also nurture the same feeling. You pointing it out just reminded me of that post World Cup meeting they held. Make we sha de watch them |
Our U-17 team just lost their first group game in the first regional tournament (WAFU-U17) that will serve as qualifier to 2019 U-17 World Cup. The eventual winner takes the sole spot for the Region. Hmmm... I can only blame the West African FAs who agreed to this new mode of QUALIFICATION. The Southern Africa have done well to secure a spot for themselves.... What a smart move through the new CAF president. Imagine CIV, Nigeria, Ghana, BK, Guinea, Mali all vying for one spot. E Don cast for us be that. Countries like Namibia, South Africa, Madagascar etc will be the ones reping the South. Sincerely yours, SA will be forming boss there. Make de sha not try am for the Senior World Cup. Cos who knows, they may be planning something underneath... If they try this rubbish thinking they want to emulate the Europeans who now play a form of European Nations League which is also regionised then.... Your guess is as good as mine. We all hope against all hope that our U-17 team will scale through. |
Nacho has been unlucky so far this season. From a potential assist to Gray in their last match to another Potential assist all stolen away from him... He needs to do more to keep playing... With Vardy back for their next game, Okazaki regaining full fitness, Coach trusting Gray, and Diabate regaining fitness. Iheanacho has so much in his hands to deal with... And The only way is to score and keep scoring - nothing more. Note:5 games 1 goals 0 Assist |
DrLikita12:If the bolded is true then that will be a positive step toward the right direction. I have so much long for a day when our league will be structured similar to the MLS. I have once stated this here. Having two conferences (North and South) will go along way in improving the quality of football we see week in week out. It will inturn cure all these "Home-Team-Win" syndrome ravaging the league for soo long... I just hope the League Management will pull this through. |
Icon4s:What? This is a joke! So much for Sir BascoVanVeli Professional Football League (SBPFL=NPFL). This is very strange. There is nothing person no go see for my country! |
elyte89:How many Nigerians do we have this year in the Champions League |
Folks here like to de do irrelevant comparison between Average Nigerian players and their Established foreign counterparts... Such Comparison is becoming stale. If you wan support/cheer them, do so. If na criticism do so. Whatever you choose, do it without bringing in players of other nationality (except we are discussing APOTY list). Enough of all these Nacho/Mbappe/Vardy/Martial/Rashford comparison, V. Moses/Salah comparison, Ighalo/Cavanni, etc It is very obvious that Presently, They are all not on the same level. Comparing them will only lead to unhealthy discussion as most posters here become emotional to this kind of discourse(which I don't blame them for shifting towards theirs) Ever since we have been making comparisons, it has done them no good. IT WILL BE MORE BETTER IF WE MAKE COMPARISON WITHIN THE NATIONAL TEAM PLAYERS-i.e comparing NIGERIAN PLAYERS TO NIGERIAN PLAYERS. |
BascoVanVeli:That was a sumptuous goal from Isaac Success... Hope he continues... |
Some people here will come and say that... Nacho scored against Fleetwood Success against Reading... Nothing to be happy about and they are not moved until the aforementioned players do it against the elite Manchester Clubs, London Clubs and the Merseyside teams... God is watching all of una... |
Me patiently waiting for September 8.
|
TheSuperNerd:You are targeting plenty Goals and you are inviting Ighalo. What an Irony. This man will not stop to amaze me. |
TheSuperNerd:Keep quiet... Offer ko offa ni. Them offer am job despite having a limp Eagles. Kikikiki |
Joebie:I so much like your proposition. But who will lead the other team. Lest we forget, Salisu is still under investigation and he has been distanced from the team. I think this is the best moment to have a new assistant coach... Someone with potential that can lead us post-Rohr era |
TheGoodJoe:The Question we need to ask ourselves is this: When exactly is that FUTURE?. We don de talk about this future since God knows when. But this future seems to be moving farther away. Personally, with Rohr's recent callups, I don't see any future with the man at the helms. Cos if he continues like this, only God knows what will happen. We had a very poor World Cup with the bulk of the blame on his table and yet the man has not shown any sign that he has learnt one or two things. I was expecting us to continue building and restructuring the team based on the pre-world cup foundation to have a very strong team. Prior to the world cup we discovered a new formation (the 3-5-2) which best suits our side and I expect us to continue building the team around it. But for the sake of having other options, like the 3-4-3, 4-2-3-1, 4-4-2,it is good to have players who can execute such formations. But filling the team with out and out strikers (Ighalo, Simy) has put such projects into jeopardy... Ighalo over the years have shown repeatedly that he is not capable of leading our attack as a lone striker. Simy who has shown few glimpses in the little time he was given will be limited with the call of Ighalo. Ighalo's position should have been used to assess a new player(an attacking midfielder) that can help us solve our creative problems. To cut things short, Rohr does not look like a coach to take us forward. |
ChrisKels:na true talk you yarn my man. I don't think Rohr can lead us to the promiseland. Ighalo will now come and score an hat-trick against Seychelles and be called for the rest of next year. |
Just saw the list... But I'm disappointed with the inclusions. Though it doesn't change anything. I was hoping for 6new introductions. Rohr did well in making it 5. I don't have issue with the numbers and those dropped- it is understandable. My only concern is with the replacements. What justifies the inclusion of players like KC Nwakali, a player from 2. Bundesliga etc... Rohr seems to be enjoying his bromance with Ighalo, Joel, Akpeyi etc... But wetin man go do. Cc: Elyte89, Icon4s |
TheSuperNerd:This reminds me of the situation at Utrecht last season when Dessers keep scores anytime he comes off the bench. Yet the coach refuses to start him. Some players just do better coming off the bench. Nigeria too once had such-Sanni Emmanuel. He underperformed in the only game he started and that was in the Final of the u-17 World Cup which costed the whole team victory... Their type are better utilized as a super sub.

gamaliel9:Rabbi, hahaha na big table you wan shake o. |
