somehow: In a 3:5:2 or 3:4:3 formation, e go sweet die to have both on the field of play. exactly. The most open position for grab aside the goalkeeping area is the LB. Aina has not been convincing as a left back in the GWG, we have not see enough of Idowu as LB (though he did well has LWB) and for Echiejile, the less we talk about him the better. |

somehow: Watched Brian Idowu, Aaron Samuel and Fegor Ogude against Avangard Kursk.
Barren draw. Idowu appeared solid, Idowu is a beast going forward but kept leaving spaces behind for swift counter attack from his opponent.
He's quite fast though, so he covered up in some cases. he will be a great asset in the GWG Jersey and will surely perform excellently well if Ogu is on the pitch to cover for him when bursting forward.
I saw why Aaron Samuel ended up a lonee, no bite even with the height.
Fegor and yellow cards are friends. The rawness in his play is like his shadow, follows him about. Idowu will be a perfect wingback. Players like him are always interested in joining the attack. Though I'll love to see him play the LB role. Same for Ebuehi. |

I mean no one has gotten it right more than this German dude.. I hope his hard work and unbiased callings pays off big.. in all ramifications the man has proven to be incorruptible and just... hope these pays off in the coming future and hope the man retains his job irrespective of the outcome of results.. you can say that again. I'm well pleased with the man. Not only me, Nigerians too are pleased. How did I know this? Against Argentina, after going 2goals down, no single person in the whole of the viewing center I was faulted/complained about the coach's team selection which is a very rear reaction from Nigerians. I just hope and pray our goal keeper trainers most especially Alloy won't disappoint us. |

asha80: it depends..when it comes to discipline and sticking to tactics one usually gets more with players that grew in an academy since they drilled from very early age however when it comes to spontaneity and the likelihood of the unpredictable one usually gets that from players that learn football in the streets. true talk. Having both in the national team will bring balance and do wonders. Though, I'll prefer the defence to be made up of players who have pass through academies. Which is what we have presently. |

This evening, while listening to Brila f.m. Danny Amokachi, Julius Agahowa and Peter Rufai were asked about our chances at Russia putting into consideration our preparation, the quality of players the team can boast of, etc and comparing them with the '94 set.
Agahowa's response caught my attention which I'll like to seek you guys opinion on.
Firstly, he said he believes in the team to deliver at the mundial. Citing the attitude of the team and team spirit as the driving force. He used the 4-2 comeback against argentina as an example to drive home is point.
He then claim that the present crop of players have one thing that was lacking in the '94 set-most of them have passed through football academies both at home and in europe and therefore have been taught the rudiment of the game which is a plus to the team.
If this line of thought is substantive and right, do you guys think early football training/schooling can stand us out from other africa representative and in one way or the other aid our overall performances in Russia? |

CaptainStephen: I personally think echiejile will go to the world cup. especially if we intend to play the 3-5-2 formation, If any of the German boys don't show, Elderson might not be valuable to the attack but he sure is a good marker and could play in the left side of the back three with balogun and ekong while either idowu or ebuehi/Aina plays as a left wingback. that will be suicidal. Echiejile that can not run and can't use is right foot to kick the ball is the one you want to start as a LCB in 3 man defence. Okay o o o... I go just watch the match with one eye closed. |

Danielnino00: This one come serious oo.. What if Rohr now decides to use the 3 man defence at d WC? Aina,Idowu and Echijele are d 3 LB in d team and so far only Idowu has proved to be good for the LWB role..Will Rohr drop Aina whom he worked hard to cap and is currently doing so well in the championship? For the RWB,its Ebuehi... of course,Moses could be drafted to the role since Shehu can't play there...but will Rohr take the risk of drafting his best attacking player in a defensive role??
Time will tell... Baba, the thing tire me. Come to think of it. All other competitors are versatile. Aina and Ebuehi(LB, RB, LWB, RWB), Idowu(LB, LWB). Even Shehu(RB, DM) is not left out. E go pain me, If Uwa is picked ahead of these guys *Modified* Echiejile has not even been playing regularly in the past few months and now he has moved to Belgian 2nd division. Well, wetin we go do? Make we sha de look. Only time can tell. march isn't far away. |

bengine: I disagree sir..In a world cup that is a tournament, there is always best combination to neutralize your opposition..and that's also part of the unpredictability in a team..
If your team is really good, you can only have probably 90% sure bankers for first 11..one or two players can be injected for tactical reasons..this is how u know a good team..
That is the reason why I'm really hopeful for this team because of the competition in the team na so my bro. Imagine a bench that has: Idowu/Aina Balogun/Awaziem Ebuehi Joel Etebo Musa Moses Simon Kelechi... That kind of bench is rich in it's own way/class and you know you're covered compare to what we paraded in Brazil... |

bengine: Yea that is true, too be honest, I don't want the coach to set up a formation that would limit Ndidi..the guys work rate could unbalance any opposition..popping up in every areas that need personnel..
In fact against some opposition that might even just sit deep and not really attack through the centre, I would suggest a double pivot of Mikel and Ndidi...mikel sits deep and dictates the pace of the game, Ndidi roams as usual and Iwobi or Iheanacho does his thing has an amf or ss...but I don't think Odogwu would wanna play dmf..he has been enjoying that amf so much, its hard to take it from him.. *smiles* Mikel don de enjoy the romance with him attackers. You go even see am for im face. The guy go de use one kind style de smile de ball most especially when he has Iwobi and Nacho in his front. Baba Ibeji too like sweet things. He go para if dem deploy am back to DMF. |

Mujtahida: Over the five friendlies and the camping period Rohr should see what works.
Onazi impedes Ndidi or rather perhaps when Onazi plays Ndidi has to play in a position that limits him.
In that friendly against Argentina I really appreciated the guy's game. We must look for a way to maximise this tackling machine we've got. that's the painful truth. For the sake of balance of play, I don't see their combo working. I see one been drop to the bench(this is hard for me to admit). Both players are great tacklers and fighters. They are predominantly right footed and tends to drift to the same side of the pitch therefore leaving gaps for opponents to exploit. But for this to happen, we will need to have a more better and quality DMF/CM who is good on both feet. Ogu is good and thumps Onazi when it comes to passing but he isn't mobile enough(I don't think he can cover large area in small time lapse like Onazi). Make I siddon de look as time unfold things... |

The rate in which Wolfsburg keeps changing their coaches is worrisome. Mercauley Chrisantus pointed it out. It was the reason he attributed to his poor development as a player. I remember that he warned young talented Nigerians to stay off the club. Schmidt has just began to give Osihmen some playing time and now his gone... I am afraid! |

MetalJigsaw: Nice points. But is the suspected acrimony towards him from the coach really possible? Even if he has to overlook his performances of any magnitude. well, this I can't say authoritatively. My presumption was only based on close observation. For a player who is good as a top striker and plays well too on wings, I expect him to be a regular starter with the numbers he keeps churning out even with less playing time. This was a guy playing in the dutch division II. He was instrumental to NAC BREDA promotion last season... At first, I thought he won't be able to cut it at the elite league. But he has gone on to score few goals despite the limited chances given to him... Before you run down the league, don't forget it is in the same league our own Ebuehi too is. |
