jihday: I understand people's anger, some said there are better players that were dropped, just like icon4s said that they are all of the same quality, I can only say maybe one or two should have been added but the truth is the quality in our local league have seriously been diluted by poverty and poor administration by these clubs. Sunshine stars have been banned from registering players for the new season just because they have not paid their players for a very long time, they played their last match with 10 players and they deservedly lost by 5-0 so tell me, if players of sunshine see an opportunity with a club in even Guatemala won't he jump at it? they too have bills to pay, they too want to ride in a cool SUV. don't be surprised that before the end of next month most of the young guys in that squad would have joined foreign clubs. Do you mean they started the game with 10men or one was red carded in the course of the match? |

Danycrusoe: thanks.
my expectations for our teams in the CAF club competitions today.
Akwa united v Hawks of Gambia. naturally I'll give Akwa a straight winning here with multiple goals at least 3 goals their league form is very impressive and should be enough for a comprehensive victory. Hawks Ave played 5 times dx year and are yet to lose winning 2 and drawing the other 3. it must be said that the 2 winnings they have arrived on their home ground. and they know how to score too. verdict: Akwa united 3-1 win
Plateau united v Eding sports of Cameroon. Clash of the Champions, the league champions of Cameroon and of Nigeria. apart from the home advantage of Plateau united they are also inform on the local scene just behind Akwa who top the league and their last result a 5-0 winning over Sunshine stars speaks volume about their performances so far this season. Eding sports are in disarray and should crumble in Jos, the Cameroonian league starts today also but they will be in Nigeria for Caf assignment. they v not played at all dx year so they will be fresh. their manager has been suspended and the caretaker manager will lead them. I expect a plateau united win maybe a 2-0 victory. verdict: Plateau united win
Real Bamako v MFM. MFM doesn't v Caf experience and against Bamako who have been in the CAF scene for a long time, they would fancy a score draw. Real Bamako themselves v not been convincing as champions league campaigners but with the form of MFM on the league where they are still seeking their first away points and unconvincing in their home wins so far, they might just lose to Real in Mali. A draw will be like a win for MFM especially a score one, even a 2-1 win for real Bamako will have MFM feeling optimistic about the second leg in Lagos. Verdict: Real Bamako win or draw, expected scoreline 2-1/2-1 or 0-0 Thanks Dany. This is expository! |

MetalJigsaw: Forget those execrable teams. Are you not tired of the dismality and heartbreaks they dish out to you people? hahaha... Arsenal have done worse to their fans. But they keep having faith in the team. That's the beauty of game. I'm only following the NPFL to know If they are progressing or not. Akwa United and Heartland are presently on an unbeaten run that has stretched 7-8games (that's +ve). I waiting to see how they'll fair in the next 5games. |

TheGoodJoe: Puel was back to his old self. Negative football. That was why he left out some of his creative force including Gray, Mahrez (although the City drama made the decision easy) and Iheanacho.
Diabate offers more defensively, that was why he was selected over Nacho. In a more offensive setup, Nacho would have been picked ahead of him.
The goal Leicester City scored in the first half was kind of a Greek gift because it prevented an early offensive change. We saw the introduction of Danny Simpson.
When Nacho came in, the harm was already done. Even teams like Barcelona with quality forwards have found it difficult touching the ball.
Finito. haha... You and your people wan kill him? The man was trying to be cautious. His plan worked for him in the first half. A moment of loss in concentration in his defence cost him the game in the second half. His best shot against a more organised and possessive side like yours was to sit deep and hit on counters or lob the ball straight to Vardy and wait for a Miracle. There is no way they'll get away if they decide to attack. You've got pacy widemen with brilliant, intelligent and swift midfielders who can initiate attack in a split seconds. |

safarigirl: was he dropped for Diabate? I don't think so
Who was Mahrez dropped for? Ma'am, go through my post again. Leicester's set-up was way different from what we know them with. They filed out in a 3-5-2 formation with Vardy and Diabate(played behind) playing upfront. In another game Nacho will pair vardy. But this one, the strategy employed by the coach favoured Diabate. Mahrez on the other has missed two of their last games prior to today's game and he only trained yesterday in almost 2weeks. So the reason he started off the bench is not far fetch. |

Mtchewww.... I understood you and your point of view immediately you said "Nacho isn't good enough". Nacho isn't your kind of player- A player that has FLAIR. But his QUALITY is not in doubt. I am sure he'll come good. Happy he is getting back his mojo. |

Earlier in the game, I said Nacho will get lost in such a game and that's the reason he was drop for a more mobile and energetic Diabate. But some folks here came for my head.
Aside the pass he laid down for Vardy and a foul he drew off a city player, he was totally lost. He offered nothing defencely and that was ONE of the reasons I think he was drop for Diabate and not QUALITY as some we have us think.
Leicester played a 3-5-2 formation on paper in the first half with diabate partnering vardy up front. But on the field it was some sort of defensive 3-6-1 with Diabate roaming about to provide cover(which Nacho CAN'T and WON'T provide) and that is the TACTICAL switch I was talking about earlier on.
I expect Nacho to start their next game.
To those asking me for facts/stat. I hope you can get it now that the game over. |

LieDetector: lol. This is the case of a typical Nigerian making excuses for his compatriot. Unless you're a backroom staff at Leicester city or that Puel sometimes confides in you, I would consider those excuses baseless. so why do you think he was drop to the bench? Is it base on both players' qualities or what? |

Dropping Nacho to the bench is more of a tactical switch.
The match will be energy demanding and I don't see Nacho catching up with the pace in the first half. It'll be better if comes on when city tires out.
I support the coach on this. |

komekn: It's a bit more complicated with Diabate his first game in the FA cup was outstanding. He is in direct competition with KC.
Furthermore, Diabate seems too have more pace and I use the word seems. So KC will still have to fight which for me is a good thing. Challenges improve players, so I am expecting considerable improvement all round for KC. I had to quote you now. The selection today has just justified this statement of yours. I remember someone questioning your football knowledge... |

BascoVanVeli: Honestly doesn't look good to me. It looks like something one guy might wear to the club not what a team should wear at the world cup. It took me days to like it. At first, I was like what kind of design is this? I even asked myself that: are we presenting some sort of dance at the opening ceremony? The guys they even used for the modeling made it worse. Give it time, I can assure you, you will like it. |

I hope the supporters club are also doing their part to ensure things go on well for the supporters in russia.
By now, I expect them to have written the LOC to seek their permission in allowing drums and other musical instruments known with SEs supporters into the stadia; so we won't have a repeat of what happened in Brazil where we had a more quiet fans from the stands.
All hands need to be on desk as we cheer our boys to victory. |

So many activities were seen in the camp of the Super Eagles in the just concluded week. I'm glad NFF kept to their words and delivered their promise of unveiliing a UNIQUE(though controversial) world cup jersey... Once again kudos to the Amaju Pinnick led administration.
The One thing that made me happy was seeing Nigerians(both home and abroad) United once again in supporting their darling National team- The Super Eagles. The design, has given the country a a face lift among commuty of nations(the world it self can't resist the aura of beauty emanating from the largest black nation in the world...
Finally, I saw the nation dream again in the midst of reminiscing the joy and happiness the 1994 Eagles brought to the country making everyone proud to be a Nigerian!. |

DrLikita12: I understand where you are coming from but I don't think there's any difference between him and Ezenwa. Ezenwa is more playful so I prefer Ajiboye. Ezenwa did the same against Algeria, they just did not take advantage of it. Also our leagues and academies do not seem to be the place to train young players so I think that generally, across the leagues (NPFL,NNL,etc), you will find that most goalkeepers are like this. ma'am, I know how irritating Ezenwa's playfulness can be. But I think it is his own way of calming things down. Anyway, the only GK I prefer and trust is out and lost in exile- Vincent Enyeama. Others na manage manage. |

realpoacher: Oga blame anybody else but leave the defense out of it, bar Osas, the defense would have done well if they had a good midfield and a great DMF shielding them...
You all are not just good at reading matches
Right from WAFU we had no midfield, emphasis and blames mostly were on defense and attack forgetting that the cement (midfield) was completely unexisting... Imagine this man Salisu taking just 4 lousy midfielders to this tournament. God I am so livid right now
I repeat let Salisu stay far away from the main Super Eagles team before he infects Rohr with his incompetence
It is only a foolish man who keeps doing the same over and over but expecting different result...
Honestly there is something terribly wrong with the mind of a black man... Just see the way these Arabs teared us apart... We were in sixes and sevens at the start of the second half,... No coordination, no team work, can't mark, can't defend, can't string two to three passes together, and we couldn't attack...
Very terrible players
Is it how bad our players in the league are?... Even without tactics, can't they dribble?.. Can't they hold the ball?... Can't they pass accurately?
Atleast I see boys on the street holding the ball skillfully and comfortably look, I had to leave those ones out. Right from day 1, Everyone knows that our midfield and attack has nothing to right home about. The defence was my focus while watching the game reason that Many here have been tipping some of those boys to unsurp players like Balogun and co in the main team. |

DrLikita12: To be fair the defense was at fault for some of the goals. Poor coordination, poor passes etc. For example, there was one where he came out and a defender came out in front of him (how I saw it anyway). I'm not saying he is perfect, but after the red card the defense was in shambles and Morocco took advantage of that. Another one he dove, the ball hit the post, someone scored after the rebound. I don't think there would have been enough time to position himself properly to save the rebound. Before the red card I thought Osas was doing okay but after it his wing was just leaky. A goalkeeper cannot be blamed for everything. Likita mai alura, I didn't blame him for all the goals. But he made same costly and avoidable mistakes TWICE. I wouldn't have blame a much younger goalkeeper for those. But this guy is well in to his late 20s and as been keeping for over 10yrs. |

tbaba1234: [b]Did you watch Ezenwa against Algeria away?
I think, i will wait for the friendlies to decide who is ahead.
Both local keepers are very flawed. Good shot stoppers but lack basic fundamentals.
Experience is important but we are in a peculiar situation. If Uzoho and Okoye prove their mettle in the high profile friendlies and are not overwhelmed by playing in Wembley, then they will be fine.
Ondoa was fairly inexperienced but was key in Cameroon's nations cup win. I wasn't priviledge to watch the Algeria second game(was the only eagles' worldcup match I missed) aside his childish act, I think he is good enough for the SEs if not as a number 1 then as a back up. |
