MetalJigsaw: I knew the guy was just being overhyped Overhyped? No one has ever overhyped him here. I'm still finding it hard to understand what's going on with him. Dessers has 7goals in 20games and most of it came as a substitute... His team's highest goal scorer has 10goals in 23games as a regular starter. Dude once scored 2goals in a game and was back to the bench the following. I don't think his bench role is down to Quality. Something is fishy... and I began to notice this after he declared to play for Nigeria. |

Mujtahida: That's how we used to be known as a team that plays from the wings. Denmark studied us and clipped our wings. We use counter attack but if we come to be known as a counter attacking team then just know that some team some where has a solution for that. We must have many tricks in our bag. Solid defence, solid midfield, solid attack. This is even not enough. We must have solid strategies based on information about our opponents. good points... Do you see us as a good football possessing side? *MODIFIED* I prefer Total football. A kind of Mass Attack/Mass Defending football. Like the one Manu's 2013 set of U-17 team played. |

Truidstar: It is the DNA of this team, counter attack. You can be Brazil, France, Germany, Belgium, we no go follow you argue midfield, but no mistake lose the ball when pressing us. Our weakness na long balls. Poland will be a true test for us, when midfield probing does not work, they play long balls to Lewandoski. Spot on! @bolded, the Zambians saw this weakness and exploited it. We kept struggling against them in the second leg till the moment we got Iwobi's goal. A more organised side with clinical striker who's good with his head and feet like lewy as you stated will definitely punish us. the best thing to do against anyteam that resort to longballs is to sit deep and not press-this will force them to play to our strength. The thing wey de sweet my belle now is that Ndidi's ball distribution coupled with passing accuracy is improving with every passing game. I see him joining Mikel as our counter attack initiators. I'm just Imagining us scoring goals after just spraying fast 3-5passes. No need for possessive football like other football power house as you stated above. This will be SCINTILLATING! |

One of the strength of our team is PACE.
I see us wrecking havoc on our opponents. All we need to do is master COUNTER ATTACKING FOOTBALL.
With this football(strategy), we'll be lethal against anyside. |

Mujtahida: Isn't there a contradiction between the first bolded and the last? You say we are not adventurous and essentially we have stuck to the same set of players for the past six years. At least this is what I understand from what you wrote 6 years ago was 2012. Apart from Mikel, Moses, Echiejile, Ahmed Musa, Ighalo all the other players are new players. I disagree with your assertion. Ighalo sef no belong to that group. I think he is post 2014. So he is relatively new! |

but what's up with the late goal that was disallowed though?? This is very saddening. Was there match coverage? If so, I think NFF should investigate and file a complaint against the ref, if the disallowed goal is legitimate. We might just be able to pull a replay. I remember Simon made a good use of one against swaziland and nancho against Argentina... all what these guys need is putting a little extra work in training and we'll be good to go. But why has no one talked about defending setpieces. During 2014 Worldcup we conceded 2goals against Argentina, 1goal against france via these same setpieces(out of a total of 5goals conceded 3 were from setpieces) and that was during Enyeama's time o... Hmmm... That thing de scare me. |

Humility017: kelechi and Moses Simon should be left wit our set pieces....except penalty kicks..thay should be left to V. moses Moses have not really impress me wit the few ones he has been left wit... So your pick for penalty kicks is Victor Moses-I think that's a fair one. Victor's ball deliveries most especially crosses are poor. But I think he can be work on. His deliveries against Cameroon in Uyo are testament to this. One from the corner kick lead to a goal. The direct free kicks he took that day weren't that bad as one hit the target though the resultant goal was over turned. A bit of extra training should put him in shape. |
Sports › Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by AIG07: 7:44pm On Feb 14, 2018 |
Throughout the World Cup qualifiers, the Super Eagles scored 12goals across 6matches averaging 2goals per match which is an impressive stat putting in mind the strength of the opponents they faced and going on to concede 4goals in total.
Of the 12goals scored, only 1 was scored via setpiece(corner kick) while the rest came from open play. The team conceded 4goals: 2 from open play and 2 from spotkick(resulting from avoidable goalkeeping errors). This has gone to show how strong our line of defence was against the top, strong and physical african sides.
With Rohr, looking forward to strengthen his defence and finding a reliable and permanent solution to the ever unconvincing goalkeeping department, I see the team putting off any forms of attack from the open play.
In the light of this, Eagles opponents might have to exploit other means to break the Eagles' wall and get the desired points/results. One of these means will definitely be SET-PIECES.
Eagles' group stage opponents Croatia, Iceland and Argentina all boast of world class and deadly dead ball specialists. These opponents, might decide to draw fouls out of our boys in dangerous areas to capitalise on our team's weakness-SET PIECE DEFENDING.
There is therefore need for us to settle and fix our inabilities to convert and defend setpieces before we kick the first ball at the mundial.
A very good left and right setpiece takers who have the ability of weeping deadly balls into the 18yard boxes from left and right sides of the pitch. These players should be our notable takers in the upcoming friendlies so as to enable them to master the act before World cup proper.
*my suggestions* Victor Moses Simon Moses Kelechi Iheanacho.

Icon4s: I think you are right. You cannot start a game except if you have 11 players.
I recall a friendly between Ghana and Zambia some time ago. Zambia had only 9 players. They had to search for Zambians anywhere in London. They were able to secure 3 Zambian students. 2 of them started the game while 1 was on the bench.
Zambia lost that game 4:0.
So I think you must start the game with 11 players else its a walk-over. the thing suprised me and that was why I asked you guys... Because who knows it might be the new rule in town. Recently, Pep had a bench short of one man. Thanks. |

And a paddy who watched the game said they were 11 but didn't have a bench but not 10, you shouldn't be able to start a game with 10 players and that was why Etim Esin(?) once played a match without being invited was wondering too.
