Smoke2015: RUGA: Charly Boy, Eedris Abdulkareem, Baba Fryo, Others Storm RCCG Camp, Insist Adeboye Must Take A Stand
Charly boy, Baba Fryo, Eedris Abdulkareem, and some Nigerian students on Monday stormed the Redemption Camp, to demand that the General Overseer of the Redeem Christian Church of God -RCCG Pastor Adeboye give his stance on RUGA and Leah Sharibu's abduction.
The protesters said that they regarded Adeboye as 'their father' and since he gave his stance on the COZA saga, he ought to do same on RUGA, and Leah Sharibu's abduction too.
Unfortunately, the protesters met Pastor Adeboye's absence. They were however addressed by the National general overseer of the RCCG Pastor Joseph Obayemi.
Because of Adeboye's absence, the protesters led by Charly Boy said they would give him one month to react. They added that if he failed to address the issues, they will conclude that 'he is a party to the atrocities Osinbajo is committing (sic)'.
"Daddy spoke about COZA, he must also speak about RUGA. We give him one month, he must speak," the protesters insisted.

LegendVibes: A 51-year-old suspect, Jibrin Ibrahim, and 14 others were on Wednesday paraded by the Joint Investigative Panel comprising of representatives of the Defence Headquarters, the police and the Department of State Services, over the murder of former Chief of Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh, Igbere TV reports.
Two AK-47 rifles, two locally-made guns and other weapons were recovered from the suspects who confessed to collecting N2m ransom before releasing Badeh’s friend Joseph Okpetu, who was in the same vehicle during the attack. It was learnt that the sim card used in negotiating Okpetu's release, belonged to 51-year-old Jibrin, Igbere TV reports.
Usman, also known as Chiroma, said to be the gang leader who spoke to newsmen during the parade, revealed that he alongside 6 others attacked Badeh, whom they assumed to be a wealthy man and not a retired military officer. Recall that it was reported that Alex Badeh was shot dead by gunmen on December 18, 2018, while returning from his farm along the Abuja-Keffi Expressway in Nasarawa State.
Confessing to the attack, Usman said;
“It was a Friday and I came to the Gitata Market; I was the one who brought the job to the gang. I am a taxi driver. So, while I was driving to Panda village, in Nasarawa State, one Alhaji Maube Gani told me that there was one wealthy man, who owned a farm in that area and that we could make money from him. I told him I had never attacked any person in my life, but he said I should not worry.
“Then later on December 18, I drove my car out and Alhaji called me that the man had come to his farm as usual and that we should come to attack him. So, I called the other members and we met Alhaji in the Gitata area.
“At that stage of the operation, I did not know Badeh’s identity; none of us knew that the man was a military officer. There were seven of us, who participated in the operation. We just got to the road, shot the man and took away his friend.”
Also speaking to newsmen, Chairman of the Joint Investigation Committee, Maj. Gen. Bamidele Shafa, who stated that effort to arrest other members of the gang has intensified, disclosed that 20 suspects had been identified out of whom 15 had been arrested.
Shafa said, “After thorough investigation, the panel made the following findings; one, the attack and killing of ACM Alex Badeh was criminal and did not have any political undertone. Two, 20 persons were involved in the crime, out of which 15 have been arrested.
“The suspects in custody confessed to their direct involvement in the crime. They employed automatic weapons and locally-made guns in the killing of the air chief marshal. This was buttressed by the result of the autopsy and weapons recovered from the residences of the suspects. The suspects will be handed over to the appropriate agency for investigation and prosecution.”

Justice M. Abdulgafar of a Kwara State High Court sitting in Ilorin today convicted and sentenced an internet fraudster, Ajayi Temitope Charles to 35 years in prison without an option of fine.
A statement from EFCC says Charles was first arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on March 13, 2019 for engaging in internet fraud.
One of the five count charges against him reads: “That you, Ajayi Temitope Charles, popularly known as Teresa Simons on or about the 27th of February, 2019, in Ilorin within the jurisdiction of this honourable court, with intent to defraud, had in your possession document, which you knew contained false pretence, and thereby, committed an offence contrary to Section 6 and 8(b) of the Advance Fee Fraud and other Fraud Related Offences Act, 2006 and punishable under Section 1(3) of the same Act.” HOW MUCH HE DEFRAUD THE CLIENT
He had pleaded “not guilty” to the charges, prompting the commencement of his trial.
However, at the end of the trial, Justice Abdulgafar ruled that the EFCC proved its case against him, “beyond reasonable doubts”.
The trial judge held that: “The evidence of PW1, Olamide Sadiq was left unchallenged by the defendant, all the chats and text messages were printed from his email address in his presence.
“I have considered the testimonies of the PW1, this honourable court is of the opinion that the PW1 is a witness of truth, the Accused Person indeed was in possession of fake documents, and the prosecution has sufficiently linked the defendant to the email address.”
Delivering judgement, Justice Abdulgafar, further rejected as untrue, the testimony of the convict where he claimed that the Police brought him to the office of the EFCC on the day of his arrest following his inability to pay the money they requested for.
“The story of the defendant being sent to the EFCC because he did not pay bribe to the police could not hold water, he lied to the court, I do not believe the evidence of the defendant, and the prosecution has proved this case beyond reasonable doubt,” the trial judge said.
Thereafter, Justice Abdulgafar pronounced him guilty as charged.
Before sentencing, defence counsel, A.B. Bakare, in his allocutus, appealed for mercy, and urged the court to temper justice with mercy, stressing that his client was a first-time offender.
Counsel for the EFCC, Ola Sesan, however, opposed the request and urged the court to sentence him according to the provisions of the law.
“Going by the provisions of the Advance Fee Fraud and other Fraud Related Offences Act, the minimum punishment for this type of offence is seven years and maximum of 20 years, the court cannot use its discretion outside the same,” he said.
Justice Abdulgafar, thereafter, sentenced him to seven years in prison on each of the five counts. The sentence is to run concurrently.

Science/Technology › Re: Olawale John Olukunle, FUTA Researchers Develop Water HYACINTH Harvester by ajayiopy: 10:42pm On Jun 25, 2019 |
miltonchux: FUTA RESEARCHERS DEVELOP WATER HYACINTH HARVESTER FOR DAMS, NIGER DELTA, COASTAL STATES AND OTHER RIVERINE AREAS OF NIGERIA.
Professor Olawale John Olukunle of the Department of Agricultural and Environmental Engineering, Federal University of Technology, Akure, FUTA and his research Team, the Technology Incubation, Development, Promotion and Utilization Group, have developed a self- propelled water hyacinth harvester. The innovation is timely, unique and aimed at solving major national problems. The machine which is very stable on the waterways removes water hyacinth by cutting, storing and offloading water hyacinth from the barge. The materials for the fabrication of the barge and other components of the harvester were all sourced locally making mass production possible and feasible. The machine consists of a cutting mechanism, a loading conveyor, offloading conveyor, power units, a central control unit and a steering.
The harvester was built with the following specification: Total Machine Weight 10 Tons; Loading Conveyor 10 Tons/h; Offloading Conveyor 60 Tons/h; Cutting Depth 1.00 m Storage Capacity 5 Tons, 1.2 m Adjustable Cutting Depth, Cutting Material –Stainless Steel, Barge Capacity (2 X 8 X 3 )m3 Harvester Rated Power 50hp; Harvester Width 2.6 m; Cutting Material Stainless Steel; Number of Passengers on board 3; The machine is expected to be operated at low speed to ensure effective harvesting operation. This machine when used on waterways will eliminate many problems associated with the spread of water hyacinth and other aquatic weeds. Water hyacinth and other sea weeds are major threats to fishing and navigation in the riverine areas of Nigeria.
Professor Cornelius Ademosun also of the Department of Agricultural Engineering, FUTA made appreciable efforts in 1991 to develop a mechanical harvester to remove water hyacinth. However, the sponsors of the project did not supply barge to house the components. This hindered further developments on the research work at that time. Other methods of removal of water weeds which include biological and chemical methods have severe and uncontrollable consequences on aquatic animals and on biodiversity. The present effort is aimed at combating the menace of water weeds and convert/transform this menace to wealth. Water Hyacinth when removed mechanically in this manner can be transformed into paper, briquettes, fertilizers, animal and fish feed, ceiling boards etc.
The project was financed by the Federal Ministry of Water Resources, Abuja as part of its commitment to rehabilitate the Dam in Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife where the trial was carried out. The inventor, Prof. Olawale John Olukunle praised the contributions of the Director of the Federal Ministry of Water Resources, Engr. Benson Ajisegiri ; Engr Lasith - the Project Manager and Engr. Justin Fayankin- the Project Consultant who facilitated the Design and Fabrication of the Water Hyacinth Harvester. This innovative approach will enhance waterway transportation, welfare of aquatic lives and those of riverine communities and consequently boost industrial and economic development. The new innovation includes a barge and the various components required for effective clearing and removal of water weeds from inland water ways.
The Federal University of Technology, Akure is willing to commence the commercial production of the machine in order to ease the problems associated with water weed infestation of waterways. The University is therefore calling on well-meaning Nigerians, Philanthropists, the various tiers of Government particularly the Federal Government, Governors of oil producing states, Lagos and Ogun states and other stakeholders to join forces with the Technology Incubation, Development, Promotion and Utilization Group of the Federal University of Technology, Akure in order to make this technology available to the end users.
The Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA) under the leadership of its Vice Chancellor, Prof. Joseph Adeola Fuwape is making giant strides in the area of Technology, having carved a niche for herself in line with its motor” Technology for Self Reliance. OEPHIUS: ….As Fayemi, AfDB President parley over infrastructure development
The African Development Bank (AfDB) has expressed its readiness to provide technical and financial support for Ekiti State Government to upgrade its infrastructure, including fixing the Ado Ekiti- Akure road, which is currently in a terrible state.
Other projects which the AfDB is willing to support are the Ekiti Airport, the Ekiti Knowledge zone (a smart city to promote knowledge economy) and the agriculture processing zone project, all geared towards improving infrastructure and socio– economic development of the state.
These are some of the highlights of a high level meeting between the Ekiti State government team led by the state Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi and the AfDB President, Dr Akinwumi Adesina at the organisation’s headquarters in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire at the weekend.
The meeting which was attended by the top officials of the AfDB, including its Senior Vice President, Charles Boamah; three Vice Presidents, Celestine Monga, (VP and Chief Economist); Vivienne Banke (VP Agriculture, Human and Social Development) and Ms Bajabulile Tshabalala (VP Finance and Chief Finance Officer); Senior Director for Nigeria, Ebrima Faal; DG, Central Africa and former Country Director Nigeria, Dr Ousmane Dore, among others, reviewed the project proposals tabled by Governor Fayemi and resolved to provide necessary support to the government to actualise them, in line with the Bank’s mission of supporting national and sub national governments’ development plans.
As a follow up to the meeting, a team of technical experts from AfDB headquarters would be in Ekiti State in the next few weeks for further discussion and assessment of the various projects. The visit and other activities that would follow would prepare the ground for the bank’s final decision.
Speaking at the meeting, Governor Fayemi, who is also the Chairman of the Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF), said his administration decided to seek AfDB’s support for the projects that are crucial to the infrastructure and industrial development of Ekiti State so as to improve the fortune of the state, reposition it as a destination of choice for investment and create jobs.
Specifically, he said Ekiti State needed to upgrade its infrastructure and invest in agric business, which will in turn provide jobs for its teeming population of youths, which he put at 75 percent of the state’s total population. He added that setting up a smart city to promote knowledge economy is also crucial to the administration.
Governor Fayemi said: “These are our local priorities. If you can support us, it will enable us to do some other things through our own limited resources.
“We have aligned our priorities to the AfDB’s priorities which apply to us, such as lighting up Africa; Feeding Africa; Industrialise Africa etc. All these apply to us as our plan is to make Ekiti a destination of choice for her citizens and all those who will like to live, work and invest in the state.
“To achieve this, we need to invest heavily in infrastructure. We want to fix the roads, have our small cargo airport that will aid agriculture and open our landlocked state to domestic and international markets and ultimately create jobs that our state urgently needs for its vibrant and educated youth population.”
"Wearing his NGF's Chairman's hat, Governor Fayemi advocated for more serious engagements with sub-nationals in Nigeria as they represent the engine room of development. This he argued would complement and accelerate what AfDB is doing at the Federal government level on human capital, infrastructure and private sector development.
The AfDB President, Dr Adesina, said the bank is excited about the plans for job creation, especially for the youth and the plans to improve the stock of infrastructure. He said the menace of kidnapping and banditry in the country would be arrested with more investments and job opportunities for the youths.
Dr Adesina said government must find a way to create jobs for the teeming population of unemployed youths, in order to secure the future of the country.
Dr Adesina commended the Governor for coming to AfDB with a clear plan that could be linked to concrete deliverables.
“Our job is to support and we have been supporting Nigeria. We are willing to support you”, the AfDB President added.

Ebullience: Bauchi State House of Assembly is currently in disarray as members have elected two Speakers in separate elections.
Eleven out of the 31 elected members of the Assembly sat as early as 7:00 am and elected Abubakar Suleiman as the Speaker of the House.
Suleiman is a member representing Ningi Central Constituency and a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Danlami Kawule a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) representing Zungur/Galambi was also elected as the Deputy Speaker by the same group of lawmakers.
The situation took a twist as 18 members of House held a parallel election in front of the Assembly complex around 11:00 am.
The members stood in front of the statue of the Mace symbol and elected Kawuwa Damina as the Speaker of the House.
Damina is a former Speaker in the 8th house of Assembly and a member of the APC. He was returned in the parallel election through a voice vote.
