Other departments whose students faced the committee included Mathematics with 2 Masters Students and Adult Education with a Pd.D holder among others. Prominent among the students on the list is Salako Tokunbo, the immediate past Students’ Union President, who was alleged to have committed offences amounting to gross misconduct and was strongly reprimanded. A notable case on the list is that of Sanni Mojeeb Moradejo, a graduate of Aquaculture and Fishery MGT, who was denied his degree for offences amounting to gross misconduct as well as Mr. Babatunde Idowu of Adult Education whose Ph.D was withdrawn for Examination Misconduct. Sleekprince: MESSERS ZEZENY AND AKBY, I DEY HAIL OOOO.GUD MAWNINGMorning sir... Hailings as well here! |
Words from the VC this afternoon The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ibadan, Professor Isaac F. Adewole has dispelled the rumour going around among students of federal Universities that the institutions would increase school fee come 2012/2013 session. In an interview with A UCJ correspondent, The VC noted that the federal government policy do not give room for that “The federal government policy is that we cannot charge tuition fee. Tuition is free so we cannot even increase school fees” Asked the secret of the new found peace after the protest that almost shook the University to it foundation; the VC before x-raying the possible reasons wondered while peace on campus seem wonder to some “I became worried when people complain about the peace on campus. Should there not be peace on campus? Maybe because I am also a Unionist myself, so I can think ahead and anticipate what the challenges are. The same with the unions, someone said that the unions are not going on strike. Why must union go on strike if what they need is being taken care of? You want to receive your salary and it is being paid, there are issues and we are addressing, so what will be the basis of for anyone going on strike?” the VC asked Rhetorically. The VC introduced a comic relief when he said “Maybe the students will protest because there is too much electricity now”. The VC ascribed the peace on campus to God “What I would ascribe the current situation on campus to is that it is the work of God because we’ve committed everything to the hand of God and the power of constructive engagement which we have embrace” When pressed hard that Some University lecturers don’t do research but are contended with who and where they are, dishing out outdated information, the VC quickly rebutted it “Not in Ibadan, Indeed am not going to dismiss such accusation, we may have few people in Ibadan who may not be using up to date I.T processes and ideas, and we cannot rule that out, but they are up to date. Change is a difficult process, the older you are, the less compliant you are likely to be with modern tools, older people are not likely to use I.T. I can’t remember the last time I taught any class without I.T. I can’t remember it like its part of me” the VC x-rays that in college of medicine, the lectures are on the website so the students collect their electronic copies” The VC would later show his displeasure on the Nigerian students who most time prefers to major on the minor and minor on the major “I am bothered that the students in the University of Ibadan are not bothered about the quality of academic enterprise. They are more interested in electricity in the hall, two per in room. Students are not complaining about lectures not being delivered on time, they are not complaining about their results not being released on time. I am yet to see them demonstrating about result, about lectures but they would demonstrate about electricity, something that is not even available at home. We want to pretend as if we are not part of the Nigerian society which is unfortunate” said the VC. It was an all round chat that torched all area of the academy. On the Curriculum of Universities which many cooperate organizations has continued to lament are not geared towards meeting societal needs the VC has this to say “I cannot speak for Universities but I can speak for University of Ibadan. A revision of the curricular in the University of Ibadan to me is a cardinal programme that was not started by this administration but the last administration. It is an ongoing enterprise. So, I don’t believe that U.I is part of these groups of Universities. In U.I, we encourage students to have on hand experience. Our students in fisheries are constructing ponds as well, in medicine; they are actively involved in forestry, in Geology they go out. I am yet to see any of the Departments where there is no element of practical experience being built into the curriculum and I say we have one of the best around and it is ongoing” There is increase in unemployment and he (VC) was questioned on the way out, IFA (Isaac Folorunso Adewole) as many fondly call him introduced a new twist to the discussion “ I am one of the persons who believe that the millionaires of tomorrow shall be the farmers'' . So you see, students running to law, medicine, engineering today. 160 million people have to eat and there is no shortcut to food. We may do without clothes and say I bought this one two years ago and I will continue to wear it, but can you say you ate food two weeks ago and you continue to keep that? So I think we must look at it from a different perspective and that is entrepreneurship and innovation. We have such centre in the University of Ibadan and the job of that centre is to inculcate in the students the spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship. We want them to leave the university and think of creating a job. If you are a doctor, lawyer, etc, what else can you do? If you are a doctor, must you stay in medicine? If there is another thing you can do to create jobs, why not do it?” said the outspoken VC. The VC was latter asked on NYSC and the wind of insecurity in the country especially in the North and this time again the VC took another route “Whatever wind of insecurity is blowing across Nigeria today is temporal. I tell you it will soon blow away, we will overcome. I served in Sokoto, I enjoyed my time there. It enabled me to understand and appreciate people better, the other aspect of the country beyond Yoruba land. If people do not want to go to the North now, we can understand their fear but I can assure you, it is not going to be permanent” he concluded |
Let me clearify some things here so u guys can understand me very well. UI is the only school all engineering students go to IT every year between 200-400L. 200L is 2months, 300L is 3months while 400L is 6months (semester). The thing is if they 2/3 months is not completed, the school can't resume. Officially the IT is just 2weeks old and 2/3 months would be satisfied. The only time we can resume is 2 weeks before the completion of 3 months and that is around mid Feb or Feb ending. If you're still thinking of january then you are missing it. Greatest Uites! Engineering students causing it all! |

Choi! Like am lost in here... Hiya everybody! Tick Tack the clock ticks and every sec reduces our resumption date. Yeah from a reliable source, the allocation of hostel and matric no set to commence anytime from monday but no actual date was given to me. The this stuff is currently being uploaded and it might take some moments before it's been done and moreover they would do a test run of it before finally pasting it on the website. Good news indeed for us all because we now have a clue of what is going on within the institution (via registrar) That aside... Resumption date still 50:50 either Dec 17th or next year and if it's 17th less activity would happen cos the school would shut for the year Dec 23th or so. If dat is the case, it means officially we resumed Dec while major activity would be Jan. It's all good peeps. Still @Akin_Official and the whatsapp group @08063178025 Just a random pix of the group members not everybody. Greatest Uites
