Wes Brown should take what is being offered or
buzz off. He should be greatful to Fegie for having
a career. 90% of managers would have booted him
out a long time ago.

There is one thing I don't like about Fergie and that
is keeping players with limited abilities for too long.

One of such players is Wes Brown.

So you now want Ronaldo? cheesy

The same Ronaldo you love to hate?

Well I guess it's part of giving too much respect.

1-1 is not too bad sha. Better than 0-0. Maybe if
they hadn't scored, it would have ended 0-0.

Chacal:
Fergie gives too much respect to teams when we play AWAY and thats criminal.
Exactly what my friend said during the game. This
was a team we should have blown apart if we were
a bit calm and if we put a few passes together.
SportsRe: Nani's Showboating: Great Or Unnecessary? by akinalabi(m): 3:44pm On Feb 19, 2008
I did a search on google for "Nani's Showboating" to get other
views and this thread came up on the first page. It's slipped to
second however.

Back to the issue.

I'm still staggered this is an issue. I was watching "You're on
Sky Sports" last night and I heard Alan Mullery trying to justify
Gallas' kick on Nani.

This is insane.

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Manchester United Fan thread: Forever Reds by akinalabi(m): 2:37pm On Feb 18, 2008
I knew we would get a premiership side. I'm sure the
FA is trying to get a lower league team into the finals
of the cup.

But Pompey is no problem.
SportsRe: Nani's Showboating: Great Or Unnecessary? by akinalabi(m): 3:23pm On Feb 17, 2008
I'm absolutely staggered this is even a point of
discussion.

Like chacal said, fans spend lots of money to watch
these games. Personally, I spent £120 in order to
be there live and my high points for the day were
the four goals, Nani's showboating and the beers
I drank grin

If Nani had gone to a corner to do step overs, that
would have been different. He was under presure
from an opponent and he kept the ball so well in
the air to ratain possesion for his team in a tricky
situation.

The onus lies on the opposition to retrieve the ball
from him legally.

Nothing bad in what he did. It was great. What we
should be talking about are the real disgraceful
high points of the match.

- Adebayor's dive
- Eduardo's two footed lunge
- Eboue's Karate
- Gallas' kick
- Flamini's murderous tackle
- Arsenal's capitulation tongue

We should be talking about the above. Not a moment
of absolute genius.

Now Fergie must give Nani enough playin time, Enough of Giggs startin. He should be coming off the bench. .
Fergie won't do that. He has a way of "managing" his youngstars. I
remember Ronaldo's debut against Bolton where we all thought he
would always play from then on. Fergie started him only 17 times in
all competitions.

4 Play:
Anderson needs to work on 2 things-his finishing and stamina. If he does,he will be one of the best players United has ever seen.

The boy was completely outstanding.
I concur mate.

That boy is something else. I had my resrvations when I saw him
at Copa America but I trust Carlos Quieros' eye for talent.

Enjoy your night and please don't drink and drive. grin grin grin grin
The cops will be watching. cheesy
Drive ke? Where will I get a UK license from? grin

But talking about the match, Fergie showed why he is
the manager and why we are just fans.

All week, we were on about the squad he should play. I
even advocated having all the experienced players on
show.

Who would have thought he would start with Fletcher,
Park, Nani and Carrick? The formation stunned me.

Now Tevez, Ronaldo, Giggs, Scholes and to a certain degree,
Rooney, are all fit to face Lyon.

Sir Alex is the master.

I was having a bud at half time. I went back to my
seat seconds after the second half had kicked off.

You really missed. The last time I witnessed such an
atmosphere was against Roma last year. Even the affter
match drink up at Traffod bar was something else.

Hear what we were singing.

Are you derby?

Are you derby?

Are you derby in disguise?

I must go out and rock Manchester tonite. It will be a
sin for me to go to bed with this kind of feeling.

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Manchester United Fan thread: Forever Reds by akinalabi(m): 5:41pm On Feb 15, 2008
I always see Brown as short one. I'm not comfortable
with him at all. I've seen Hargo -albeit sparingly- play
right back for Bayern and for England

I know Fergie won't do it but I reckon he can hold his
own there for the day only. Besides we have a glut of
midfielders who can do the job on the day.

It's like an opportunity cost thing (or how do they say it
in economics).

So for me, Hargo at right back, Scholes and Anserdson
in the middle. Ronaldo on the right and Giggs on the
left. Rooney and Tevez upfront.

My only fear is that if Giggs starts, then expect Rooney
to go wide towards the left occasionally while Giggs
drifts into the middle.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Manchester United Fan thread: Forever Reds by akinalabi(m): 4:30pm On Feb 15, 2008
Funny thing is I want out two oldies to start that game. I mean
Giggsy and Scholesy. Their experience in the kind of situation
we are in could be invaluable.

I don't want to see Wes Brown and Oshea around Old Trafford
on Saturday or I will not agree to enter the stadium. grin

Here is what my ideal line up looks like.

Van Der Saar

Hargreaves (Right Back)

Evra

Vidic

Ferdinand

Anderson (Defensive Midfield)

Scholes (Central Midfield/ Playmaker)

Ronaldo (Right)

Rooney (Center)

Tevez (Center)

Giggs/Park (Left)

Yeah. We really need to bounce back. This match
is not about the FA cup only. If Arsenal manages
to do us at OT, then I guess they will have a roll
till the end of the season.

A victory is very important.

I got a ticket. Can't wait.

@ Akinalabi,

Its a NO-WIN situation for Ronaldo.
If he had scored a hatrick today . . . .People would say Man City wasn't a quality team and Ronaldo is not special.
He didn't score today and people are still slating him he doesn't turn up in big matches . . Since when did Manchester Derby become big matches.
Ronaldo scored in both matches last season when we did double on Man City and no one has ever used the feat as a yardstick.
He lost today and all of a sudden. . . . . . . He is not a big player.
You've just spoken my mind.

In as much as I keep an open mind about issues,
people and opinions, there are some that are
really nauseating you can't help but respond.

Well, that echoes my point. C.Ronaldo plays well only against shitty teams, and poorly against good teams and in big games.
No disrespect to MCity, but they are not an excellent team. They are a hardworking average team.
Itz unfortunate that Ronaldo played shit against a shitty team. lipsrsealed lipsrsealed lipsrsealed lipsrsealed
That makes Ronaldo a shitty player.

You're the only one on the face of this planet that
thinks so.

United were terrible today. There is no question about
that. It wasn't Ronaldo V City today. It was Utd V City.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Manchester United Fan thread: Forever Reds by akinalabi(m): 7:40pm On Feb 10, 2008

Exactly. I have consistently said that Ronaldo is just a little bit above average.
It's time for everyone to bring out their swords. If Ronaldo had
hammered City, everyone would have said he only plays well
against shitty teams like City.

I watched it on Eurosport as well. I laughed and laughed

I think Senderos should retain his place at the Emirates. grin

I agree with you this time. Our team just wasn't good enough.

The Ghanian team that beat us is even average. Essien,
Muntari and 9 robots. Once Esssien went back to the
center of the defence, only Muntari could play.

And yet we lost.

This is the poorest Nigerian team in 25 years.
