Chacal:I hope Arsenal fans now know that it's important to strenghten ones team. Fergie wasn't foolish when he strenghtened a team that just won the league. Arsenal finished many points behind United, lost Henry and yet refused to strenghten their squad. I wonder what would have happened if they had won the league. They probably would have sold 20 of their players. |
The poster is pouring out his heart. We can't blame him. Can we? |
dominique:You're wrong there sweetheart. Chelsea will not give out limitless shirts to its players. If Drogba, Mikel, Kalou wants 1,000 shirts each every month, are you saying Chelsea will dole out 36,000 shirts in a year? I don't know the inside workings at Chelsea but I don't think that is realistic. |
Nice thread. Pictures showing the good, the bad and the ugly. A true reflection of Nigeria. |
I've said it times without number that there is nothing to worry about in Arsenal. If they go 10 points clear, do not despair. All we need to do is stay ahead of Chelsea. @ dayokanu, I've never seen a Barcelona team that is this mediocre. Even the run away leaders in Spain, Real Madrid are far from being vinatge. What makes you think Barcelona will go past Shalke? |
@ 4 Play, There is no need to wait for them to shaow up. The season is over for them. Chelsea is the threat to United. |
@ chacal, You don't need to waste your energy on these people. I think it's time to focus our attention on Chelsea. They are the real danger. |
Didn't see the game. Monitored it on Jeff's soccer saturday. Glad we won. When Fergie plays continental teams, he gives too much respect. When he plays lowly placed premier league teams, he underrates. ![]() We're now on top with all teams playing the same number of matches. Chelsea are only 3 points behind us and 2 behind Arsenal. I fear them now more than Arsenal despite the fact that I ruled them out when Jose nearly sunk the team. . . . Kauto Star was still the favourite although it was obvious that Denman was coming up strongly. If the jockey (Ruby Walsh) had ridden Denman (he rides both horses), I would have gone for Denman. ![]() And yes. . . I'm broke. . . And I still have 2 weeks to go. ![]() |
That's why I laugh when people say premier league players can never go broke again. Financial indiscipline is the same at all levels. If you can't manage N100k monthly now, you wont be able to manage £100k. A lot of premier league players get their cars withdrawn because they can't make up the repayments. Sad! |
Chacal:I lost money on Kauto Star . . . I was warned but I trustedthe horse. Chacal:Been to only one away game EVER! That was at Villa park. I won a free ticket at bet365.com They don't sell away tickets at the http://manutd.viagogo.com or do they? |
@ chacal, Was at the Gold cup when I heard about the draws. The talks about fixing is a bit worrisome. It's easy to dismiss it with a wave of hand but if you hear how strong the rumours were at Cheltenham, you just have to think again. We heard about it in the morning. I wouldnt have bothered if I'd heard it on the streets. . . but at Chelteham? You know that place is currently a congregation of betting companies. |
@ RuuDie, I don't rate Barca that much. They seem a bit on the average to me. Even the runaway leaders in Spain, Real looks average to me. Any of those teams you mentioned should do Barca anyday. |
I'm not sure about your figures but if you're confident they are right, then you have a money maker on your hands. Rather than moan, I suggest you go for the "killing" as well. |
@ top_kin, You need to learn a bit of English comprehension. . . Did you see the original post? The poster was shocked at how Chelsea could ever lose to Barnsley at the FA Cup. I showed that all top clubs have lost to smaller teams or lost in bizzare circumstances so Chelsea's loss should not automatically lead to Grant's sack. Learn my brother. . . Learn! |
We don't know his motives so we can't condem him. What if he buys them to send back home to distribute to youngsters that idolize him but cannot afford the shirts. If he had ulterior motives, he wont be buying them personally at the club's store. I'm sure he's got relatives around him that he can give money to buy loads of the jersey. Don't fall for headlines guys, there is no substance in that story. |
Defecting from one team to another is a ridiculous thing to do. I support two teams in my life. Shooting Stars and Man Utd. I remember when Sooting were relegated in 1986 and I was downcast. (Was very young then though) My brother put his arms round me saying even if we were relegated to Division 40, we would support Shooting Stars for life. Same for Man Utd. I've got a cousin that supports Fulham and he's proud of it. My brother supports MK Dons and one of my best friends supports West Ham. To my friend, no team plays, sings, supports as well as west ham. To him upton park is the heaven of football. That is how it should be. |
I stopped updating it because I went "underground" to to learn more tricks of the trade. As I type this, I'm in the UK for a mastermind session with some proffessionals for some "insider" techniques. I have have however set up a membership for those that are interested in this for a fee. If you are interested in details. you can email me at akin @ akinalabi.com |
Methinks this one is quite specific@ eldee, Let's get down to the specifics. . . The chance Glen Johnson cleared of the line from Tevez in the first half. After the ball fell to Tevez, if a pompey player had come from the side to push Tevez to the ground. Would he have been shown a red card. Afterall, the keeper was beaten. . . It was an open goal. Would it have been a red card? |
A red card should be awarded to a player if he denies an obvious goalscoring opportunity to an opponent moving@ eldee, That aspect of the rule is so vague that it can hardly justify it's usage that is why the aspect of the last man is more important. All fouls that denies obvious goal scoring opportunities can NEVER result in red cards. Watch a game for 90 minutes and take a look at fouls that deny obvious goal scoring opportunities. Send all offenders of and only the referee will be left on the pitch. Did you see Barcelona against Villareal last night? Common sense prevailed and the referee gave Victor Valdez only a yellow card. |
NV ME:Haven't you seen anyone leaving the UK for Nigeria? |
Yes its thinning rapidly. I've heard many of them say they no longer support Chelsea because they don't like Avram Grant. |
dayokanu:Good talk. Especially those real fans. They were quite many a few years back. And Chelsea? I knew only one Chelsea fan 10 years ago. |
pein:First of all, you need to understand the rudiments of United's play. . . When we play attacking set pieces, Rio and Vidic goes forward for direct nod ins. Rooney stays around the edges for a surprise shot like we DID TWICE against Liverpool at Anfield with the second attempt resulting in Tevez' goal. If Scholes is also on the field, he lurks around as well because we know he can strike the ball very well. Browns got height, so he is up there as well. Ronaldo is brilliant in the air so he is there. Of course the other forward player , Tevez was there and the person hitting the free kick, in this case, it was Nani. That leaves us with Evra, Anderson and the goalkeeper. When Pompey defends, they leave one (maximum 2) up front in case there is a break. If Kanu is on the pitch, he would be left alone upfront. That means leaving two behind is not a bad idea. Evra didnt track back quickly enough but we have to realize it was a good kick from James so there was no way he could have covered up. It was simply a mix up from Rooney and Anderson and there is where it ends. Did you say we didn't play well? I'm not sure we watched the same match. Hit the post, ball cleared off the line TWICE, denied penalty. What else can you ask for? @ dayokanu, Are you saying when a controversial decision goes your way, you should go to the FA and say "No please take that point back, the referee made a mistake" Or are you saying if a controversial decision had gone your way in the past, you have no right to complain about refereeing when you're robbed. Which of those two do you mean? |
Meldrick:Man Utd got knocked out of the carling cup by Coventry at OLD TRAFFORD! Liverpool got knocked out of the FA cup by Barnsley at ANFIELD! Arsenal got knocked out of both cups by a total of 9 goals. . . In your reckoning, Sir Alex, Rafa Benitez and Arsene Wenger should all be sacked! |
3 points in 3 successive games for Arsenal. Not a sign of a team that wants to win the title. Three draws is like LOSING 2 and winning 1. The onus is now on us to kill off Bolton and Derby in our next 2 games. The title is staying at Old Trafford. |
Chacal:You meant to say "Staying At Old Trafford". |
If that is the smartest thing he has said, then it goes a long way to show the kind of man he is. whatnext:That is the problem and I can't understand why that is beyond Blatter. Okay. Assuming a player nudges another player on the shoulder and the latter goes down and sprains his ankle, the offender should be banned for as long as the injured player is out? Here is a classic example. At Stamford bridge in 2006, Carvalho fouled Wayne Rooney and it wasn't even seen as cardable offence. He can claim it was unintentional. We would have believed him. Rooney was out for weeks and wasn't fit enough for the world cup. Are we saying Carvalho should have been suspended for the period Wayne was out? The grotesque idea of using the extent of a victim's injury to determine punishments meted out is not only silly but unpracticable. |
We were robbed. There is no question about that. Can't understand why Martin Atkinson did not give that penalty. He was 15 yards away from it without anyone blocking his view. Distin did not attempt to play the ball. The ball went past him and he took Ronaldo out. If that had happened outside the box would he have blown for a free kick? Obviously. Inside the box, he decides to look away. The red card is another shame. The rule says a player will be sent off for a fowl IF HE IS THE LAST MAN. Thomas Kuszczak was NOT the last man. Rooney had gone back to defend the goal mouth so technically, he is the last man. Okay, I'm not saying Kuszczak would have saved the penalty. But his sending off automatically robbed Man Utd of the power and ability to come back into the game. The whole of England surely loves the outcome of the game so there would be no outcry. Shocking! |
Sepp "51 bad ideas out of 50" Blatter has asked for a life ban on Matin Taylor for his tackle on Eduardo. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/main.jhtml?xml=/sport/2008/03/07/sfnbla207.xml Knowing Blatter and his tendencies to talk out of his a*se, I'm not surprised to hear this. For heaven's sake, Martin Taylor's tackle was bad. But since I've been watching football, I've lost count of the number of times I've seen worse tackles. Quique Alvarez' tackle on Robben last week in the Spanish Liga was as bad. Blatter even recommends legal actions. How do you determine a players intentions? Taylor had only been booked 6 times in his whole career so what motivation could he have had to break Eduardo's leg? Blatter went on to advocate special treatment for good players. "The referees should be aware that if there is a very good player, they need to protect him" Special tratment for certain players? Abeg when is the next FIFA election? I need to contest. ![]() |
@ chacal, Spend the money finish? Now I know you don't like me. I've still got 4 weeks to go my guy. I guess Quieroz bases his team on solid defending and using special forward players to break down the opposition. Our biggest asset this term has been our defending. I've never been this confident with United's defence (the only worry is that silly boy called Wesley). My point is that his defensive tendencies have actually been a blessing to us. |
Chacal:I'm begining to have confidence in Carlos Queiroz. If anyone had suggested this to me 18months ago, I would have cursed the person. I think his eyes for talents is legendary. He is the father of the current generation and immediate past of Portuguese football having conquered the world twice at under 20 level with likes of Figo and Costa. At Real Madrid, he told the Real board to buy Pepe when he was available at just two million euros. They told him he wont sell shirts. A few years later, Real had to cough out thirty million for him. I know managing Man Utd is more than buying exciting young stars but is there a better way to lean football management other than under stuying Sir Alex? As regards tomorrows match, we should blow Pompey away. We want a treble this season. These Old Trafford trips dey finish my money quick quick. ![]() |
idupaul:Absolutely. |
