The Coalition of United Political Parties has alleged that there is a grand plot by the Federal Government to implicate the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, Bukola Saraki; Senator Dino Melaye and other opposition leaders as the 2019 election approaches.

The coalition’s spokesman, Imo Ugochinyere, in a statement released to newsmen, said the opposition politicians will be accused of gunrunning. The statement in part reads

“Elements of the ruling party have commenced the branding of some vehicles with the colours of the opposition bearing the photos of these opposition leaders and have acquired arms which will be hidden in the vehicles and the vehicles will be driven to join the campaign convoy of the opposition consensus candidate in Kwara, Kogi and Adamawa and other parts of the country where they have also selected.

“The vehicles will eventually be searched by the police and the arms recovered. Their plot will include mobilising thugs and causing violence on the day of such recovery so as to tag the opposition as violent. The APC leaders are aware Nigerians now know them for their violence which has trailed their campaigns nationwide.

“Their internal crisis and ‘grab-power-by-all-means’ attitude have catalysed their rejection by Nigerians and they desire to break all the laws to cast the opposition in bad light.

“On poll day, part of their plot include also to use more of these branded vehicles loaded with thugs to disrupt voting and collation in
some centres and blame the opposition for violence and disruption of the process which will lead to mass arrest of opposition leaders to give the ruling party advantage to rig and deny the people the opportunity to give their preferred candidates their mandate.

The security agencies are hereby put on notice that Nigerians will not accept any breach of security being orchestrated by elements of the ruling party disguised in whichever form they choose.

Nigerians are put on notice to be watchful and vigilant to see through the evil plans of the ravenous group of rulers we have in our country today. They should not be deterred. Their songs of war and plot to rig the elections will be resisted. APC is already in morbid fear of losing elections and all their shenanigans are like the last futile kicks of a dying horse.”

The spokesperson of the President Muhammadu Buhari campaign organisation, Festus Keyamo, on Thursday, reacted to some of the blunders made by his principal during recent campaign rallies.

Keyamo admitted that Buhari exhibited loss of memory but such was normal.

In a tweet, the Senior Advocate of Nigeria claimed that both Jesus Christ and Prophet Mohammed lost their memories at some point in their lives.

Buhari had severally made some mistakes during on the campaign trail in Warri, Delta State, where he referred to the All Progressives Congress, APC, governorship candidate as “presidential, senatorial, governortorial” candidate.

In Cross River, Buhari attempted to handover APC’s flag to a candidate other than the governorship candidate in the state.

He had presented Ndoma Egba as the governorship candidate instead of Owan Enoh.

Just few days ago, Buhari, while addressing APC members in Ekiti State, said he assumed power in 2005.

The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, told journalists, in Abuja, yesterday, that bandits and Boko Haram elements have been armed to undertake massive attacks in 10 states of northern Nigeria.

However, the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, disagreed with the minister’s allegations, which it described as desperation by the ruling party to hold on to power at all cost, and clampdown on the opposition, adding that Nigerians would hold President Muhammadu Buhari responsible for any security breach in the country.

The Coalition of United Political Parties, CUPP, which shared the PDP’s views, attributed what it described as worsening Boko Haram insurgency and insecurity to Buhari’s incompetence.

Lai Mohammed claimed that the opposition resorted to arming merchants of death because of their perceived inability to match President Buhari’s popularity and expected victory at the forthcoming polls. He said:

“You have definitely seen the massive and warm reception that President Buhari has been receiving across the country, compared to the thinning crowds that have been attending the opposition rallies.

‘’Having realized that their fortunes have dwindled badly ahead of the polls, the desperate opposition is orchestrating widespread violence, with a view to truncating the elections, thus triggering a constitutional crisis that could snowball into the establishment of an interim government.”

The police have slammed a nine-count charge on Dino Melaye, senator representing Kogi west.

The charges border on lying and resisting arrest.

They were filed after the senator fulfilled the bail conditions a high court in Abuja granted him on Friday.

In the charge sheet seen by TheCable, one Silas Omenka was named as a defendant in the suit filed by the police.

It is unclear who Omenka is and the role he played during the 8-day siege laid to the Abuja residence of the lawmaker. The siege ended on January 4 when Melaye surrendered to the police.

The senator had been accused of culpable homicide. The police alleged that in July, his supporters shot one Danjuma Saliu, an officer in Kogi state.

That you Senator Dino Melaye ‘m’ 45 yrs, representing Kogi West Senatorial District in the Eight National Assembty on or about the 28‘“ December 2018 at about 1030hrs at No. 11 Sangha Street. Off Mississipi Maitama Abuja, under the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court did intentionally offered resistance to your lawful arrest, when a team of Police detectives with a duly signed Warrant of Arrest got to your residence at No. 11 Sangha Street, Off Mississipi Maitama Abuja to effect your arrest for the offences of criminal conspiracy and attempted culpable homicide and illegal possession of prohibited firearms and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 172 of the Penal Code.

COUNT THREE

That you Silas Omenka ‘m’ 38 yrs of Opposite Deeper Life Church, Kabayi, Maraba, Nasarawa State on or about the 28th December 2018 at about 1030hrs, under the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court did intentionally offered illegal obstruction to the lawful arrest of Senator Dino Melaye for the offences of criminal conspiracy and attempted culpable homicide and illegal possession of prohibited firearms when a team of Police detectives with a duly signed Warrant of Arrest got to his residence at No. 11 Sangha Street, Off Mississipi Maitama Abuja to effect his arrest by locking the entrance gate and pushed the Detectives with entrance gate with an intention to obstruct the Detectives from gaining entrance to effect the arrest of Senator Dino Melaye and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 171 of the Penal Code

COUNT FOUR

That you Senator Dino Melaye ‘m‘ 45 yrs, representing Kogi West Senatorial District in the Eight National Assembly on or about the 24th July, 2018 at about 1200hrs at No. 11 Sangha Street, Off Mississipi Maitama Abuja under the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court did intentionally and without reasonable cause refuse to honour and attend Police invitation written and signed on 23rd of July, 2018 by the Commissioner of Police Kogi State command served on you through the Clerk of the National Assembly Three Arms Zone Central Business District Abuja to report at the Office of the Deputy Commissioner of Police Kogi State Command in respect of a case of Criminal Conspiracy and attempted Culpable Homicide and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 136 of the Penal Code.

COUNT FIVE

That you Senator Dino Melaye ‘m’ 45 yrs, representing Kogi West Senatorial District in the Eight National Assembly on or about the 28th December, 2018 at about 1700hrs at No 11 Sangha Street, Off Mississipi Maitama Abuja under the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court did intentionally inform the public through a telephone conversation when a team of Police detectives with a duly signed Warrant of Arrest got to your residence at No. 11 Sangha Street, Off Mississipi Maitama Abuja to effect your arrest which was aired on Channels television that you were outside Abuja and that you will make yourself available as soon as you are back to Abuja whereas you were at Abuja, an information you know to be false and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 138 of the Penal Code.

COUNT SIX

That you Senator Dino Melaye ‘m‘ 45 yrs, representing Kogi West Senatorial District in the Eight National Assembly on or about the 28th December, 2018 at about 1030hrs at No. 11 Sangha Street, Off Mississipi Maitama Abuja under the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court did intentionally inform the public through a telephone conversation when a team of Police detectives with a duly signed Warrant of Arrest got to your residence at No. 11 Sangha Street, Off Mississipi Maitama Abuja to effect your arrest which was aired on Channels television that you were outside Abuja and that you will make yourself available as soon as you are back to Abuja whereas you were at Abuja and knowing it to be likely acted upon by the Police, which would have if acted upon prevented your arrest and pave way for your escape from arrest and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 140 of the Penal Code.

That you Senator Dino Melaye ‘m’ 45yrs, representing Kogi West Senatorial District in the Eight National Assembly on or about the 28th December, 2018 at about 1100hrs at your residence at No 11 Sangha Street, Off Mississippi Maitama Abuja under the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court did intentionally inform the public on tweeter that the Police Detectives are trying to plant guns in your cars outside, an information you know to be false and having reason to believe that such imputation will harm the reputation of the Police and you thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 392 of the Penal Code.

COUNT EIGHT

That you Senator Dino Melaye ‘m’ 45 yrs, representing Kogi West Senatorial District in the Eight National Assembly on or about the 25th December, 2018 at about 1300hrs at No. 11 Sangha Street, Off Mississipi Maitama Abuja under the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court did intentionally with intent to excite feeling of disaffection by the public against the members of the Nigeria Police Force and the Inspector General of Police twitted that the Inspector General of Police has planned to arrest and inject you to death and that the Inspector General of Police has deployed Commissioner of Police (CP) Kogi State Command to carry out the plan an information you know to be false and against the Administration of Justice in Nigeria, thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 416 of the Penal Code.

COUNT NINE

That you Senator Dino Melaye ‘m’ 45 yrs, representing Kogi West Senatorial District in the Eight National Assembly on or about the 25th December, 2018 at about 1300hrs at No. 11 Sangha Street, Off Mississipi Maitama Abuja under the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court did intentionally make a false statement that the Inspector General of Police has planned to arrest and inject you to death and that the Inspector General of Police has deployed Commissioner of Police (CP) Kogi State Command to carry out the plan an information knowing or having reason to believe that such injurious falsehood will harm the reputation of the person of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Ibrahim K. Association of Angry Old Men

The National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu, has described ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo as one of the “expired leaders” that should have retired to his Ota Farm and remain quiet.

He boasted that if the association of persons he described as “angry old men” refuses to vote Buhari, he’ll still get 95% of votes.

Speaking at Ramat Square Complex, Maiduguri, Borno State on Monday during President Muhammadu Buhari’s presidential campaign, Tinubu said, “It is unfortunate that expired leaders like Olusegun Obasanjo is ranting and lying. Don’t trust him.

“We are sweeping all the cobwebs of corruption away with broom out of Nigeria. Ota Farm should be enough a retirement place for Obasanjo.”

Delving into the 16-year administration of the Peoples Democratic Party, Tinubu said, “Who among Nigerians will recall how the PDP government under Obasanjo had been notorious for rigging elections.

“No government has upheld the tenets of democracy like the government of President Muhammadu Buhari.

“We asked for the recognition of June 12 from Obasanjo, he refused; but President Muhammadu Buhari, as an honest man with integrity, heard our cry and recognised June 12.

“Even if the Forum of Association of Angry Old Men refuses to vote for Buhari, we will give him 95 percent votes.”

In his speech at the campaign, APC chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, said Obasanjo’s “attack” was done “out of frustration” when he said that the South-South which used to be the stronghold of PDP had “caught the Buhari fever.”

He said Obasanjo was “unsettled” when he saw what happened in Delta State during the APC campaign there, and “hurriedly went to the toilet for five times due to running stomach.”



Oshiomhole asaid: “The people writing epistle now watched how money meant for security was appropriated by not only the PDP but Generals.

“Under their watch, over 20 local government areas of Borno State was taken over by the Boko Haram terrorists before the coming of President Muhammadu Buhari.

“Today, no matter what they want to say, there is no local government where Boko Haram is hoisting their flag. All the 27 local government areas of Borno have been liberated by APC government.”

When the turn of the Director General of Buhari/Osinbajo Campaign Organisation and the Minister of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi, came, he said that under the PDP government, his security details were withdrawn as a result of “impunity.”

He added that due to the PDP’s “rigging formula,” votes did not count in South South during election, and that election results were based on party’s wishes.

In his remarks, the Borno State governor, Kashim Shettima, assured President Muhammadu Buhari of over two million votes from Borno State.

“We in Borno don’t know any other party than the APC. Allah brought President Muhammadu Buhari to deliver people of Borno from the hands of our oppressors.

“By the grace of Allah, come February 16th, 2019, if we are not the first highest voters for you, we will be the second.”

President Muhammadu Buhari who addressed the crowd in Hausa thanked them for their support and restated the commitment of his administration to the fight against corruption, insecurity, and improvement of the economy if re-elected.
