Consequently, while only about 40 of the serving senators will be among the elected 109 senators for the 9th Senate, most of the remaining 69 others will be first timers who will take some time to learn parliamentary practice.

In the 7th Senate, when a similar high turnover hit the Upper Chamber, the then Senate Leader, Victor Ndoma-Egba, who was among those who lost out, lamented that the high turnover was affecting the efficiency of the nation’s apex parliament.

Buba Galadima, a spokesman for the Atiku Abubakar Campaign Organisation, has reportedly been whisked away.

According to Kola Ologbondiyan, Spokesman of the PDP, his whereabouts is unknown.

Kola tweeted, “Nigerians and the world over should know this— Alhaji Buba Galadima has just been kidnapped by masked security operatives, his whereabouts is unknown.

“Buhari/APC are hell bent on destroying our hard earned democracy.

“We will never be cowed, the will of the people MUST prevail.”

The PDP charges the INEC to immediately announce results as delivered from the polling units and declare the people’s candidate, atiku, the winner of the February 23 Presidential election.

Our position is predicated on clear and verifiable results across the nation, showing that Atiku is in clear lead both in spread and total number of votes cast.

Intelligence available to us is that INEC is delaying the announcement of results following directives by the Buhari Presidency and the APC which are bent on altering the figures from the polling centers and allocate fictitious figures for President Buhari

Curiously, INEC server is now shut down, results are no more being transmitted and the reason is to enable the APX to inflate figures from six designated states.

We call on international observers and election monitors to insist on a transparent process of transmission of results and the monitoring thereof.

We already have reports of how APC governors have been making desperate effort to tamper with the results of the elections in their respective states with the view to award conjured votes to President Buhari.

In Kogi state, Governor Yahaya Bello has been making frantic moves to change results to suit APC's intent and purposes as against the wishes of the people, expressly delivered at the polls.

Nigerians already know how the Minister of Transport & the DG of the BUHARI Campaign, Rotimi Amaechi, used the military to hold an INEC official in River state, Mrs. Mary Efeturi, hostage and insisted that she alters the results in favour of President Buhari

The PDP calls on INEC Chairman, Prof. Yakubu to note that in this age of Information Communication Technology, Nigerians already have the results as delivered at the polling centers & any attempt to alter any figure will be faced with vehement resistance

Presidential Candidate of PDP, Atiku Abubakar, has won the election in Gov. Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State ward in Epe, polling 2,511 votes to defeat President Muhammadu Buhari of APC, who got 2,367 votes.

Mr Adelaja Odukoya, the INEC Collation Officer, announced the results at INEC collation centre, Iraye, Epe, on Sunday.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Ambode was able to win his Polling Unit 033, Ogunmodede College in Ajaganabe Area, Ward A5, Epe, where APC polled 131 votes as against PDP who got 116 votes.

Also, the PDP Senatorial Candidate, Abiodun Oyefusi, defeated the APC Candidate, Bayo Oshinowo, by 71 votes, with PDP polling 2,557 votes, while APC had 2,488 votes.

The PDP candidate for the House of Representatives, Oye Ayantuga, got 2,597 votes, while Wale Raji of APC polled 2,438 votes.

At Ward 2, Epe, all the PDP candidates also defeated their APC counterparts.

Announcing the results, INEC Collation Officer, Mr Samsideen Jagbojagbo, said Atiku of PDP polled 1,044 votes, while President Buhari of APC had 824 votes.

The PDP Senatorial Candidate, Abiodun Oyefusi, got 1,087 as against Bayo Oshinowo of APC, who polled 935.

Oye Ayantuga, the PDP Candidate for House of Representatives, polled 1,023 votes while his counterpart, Wale Raji, had 855 votes.

The Nigerian Army has responded to the claim by the Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike, that soldiers from the 6 Division attempted to assassinate him on Thursday, February 21, 2019.

In a statement, the Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, Col. Aminu Iliyasu described the allegation by Governor Wike as “lies and cheap blackmail against the 6 Division, Nigerian Army”.

Governor Wike had told journalists after a meeting with officials of the British High Commission who visited him at the government house in Port Harcourt, that he was trailed by soldiers from 6 Division, Nigerian Army, while on his way to see some people.

The Nigerian Army (NA) wishes to respond to the bogus and unsubstantiated allegations being peddled by the Governor of Rivers State, Mr Nyesom Wike. Some of his rancorous claims were that the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 6 Division, Maj Gen Jamil Sarham purportedly sent troops to cordon off his residence prior to the rescheduled General Elections on the 15th of February 2019.The Governor further went on to allege an assassination attempt on his life which he claimed was orchestrated by the GOC 6 Division.

The NA is appalled that a Governor who should epitomize leadership and good example in all senses could descend so low to employ smear campaign against the person of a GOC whose only responsibility amongst other things, - is about the safety and security of lives and properties in his Area of Responsibility.

The NA does not train assassins as such the institution or her personnel cannot be involved in sending assassins to murder a state Governor as alleged by Gov Nyesom Wike.

It is indeed no secret to the military authorities that Governor Wike has on various occasions made attempts to compromise the integrity of the GOC 6 Division. Having failed, despites series of overtures and monetary pledges of millions of dollars, both in person and from cronies, it is no surprise that the frustrated Governor has resorted to this appalling campaign of calumny. One would have thought that the resolute and uncompromising stance of Maj Gen Jamil Sarham in the face of several kinds of mouth-watering inducements would have earned him a commendation from any conscientious leader. Alas, this was not the case from the embittered governor of Rivers State but rather, these slanderous allegations.

Despite these unsubstantiated ramblings however, the NA has deemed it fit to clear the air by letting Governor Wike and the general public at large, know that it would not be dragged into any form of political gerrymandering concocted for the furtherance of any person’s interest or notoriety.

As a noble institution, the NA is apolitical, neutral and would not compromise its constitutional roles under any guise. Additionally, the NA would like to give Governor Wike the benefit of doubt, to within 7 days, bring forth evidence that can substantiate the bogus claims, or he could as well, save face and keep his peace.

Senator representing Kogi West, Dino Melaye, has said that President Muhammadu Buhari must visit his hospital in London, UK, because of his remarks on ballot box snatching.

Melaye stated this while appearing on Channels Television on Tuesday evening.

“That statement from Mr. President is a serious confirmation that Mr. President has to visit London again, because it is not expected from any rationally thinking, intellectually mobile leader,” the lawmaker said.

When reprimanded by the host Seun Okin, Melaye insisted “I am not being insolent at all”.

The immediate past governor of Ekiti state, Ayodele Fayose, has alleged of fresh plot by federal government ahead of this Saturday’s presidential election.

He disclosed this in a post on his Twitter page on Tuesday, adding that their plans will be defeated.

The new plot is to use DSS and EFCC to harass, intimidate and coerce @inecnigeria officials that are not willing to do their biddings. But this tyranny will be defeated ultimately.
