He won a substantial part of the north last election but this time, with the Growing disillusionment and negative sentiments against Tinubu across the country it'd be easier for Atiku to do it convincingly
No, it will still be the same thing. They just don't like Atiku. Tinubu will sponsor a northerner in PDP to divide ne and kwankwaso to divide north west

He will be VP, just watch on.
But wait o, Atiku may take style win o if Obi contest under LP and Atiku becomes only Northern candidate in the election. Tinubu and Obi may share Southern votes and Atiku gets massive votes in the North and sizable in SW and SS bcs of other coalition members like Aregbesola, Dele Momodu and Ameachi, etc especially if Ameachi is the VP.
Atiku can't get massive votes up North

If Atiku gets the presidential ticket of the coalition and Peter Obi leaves to contest on another platform, I see Atiku winning the presidency because Obi will certainly divide Tinubu's votes in the south. Tinubu's chances in the north are already dead on arrival except he rigs it so fantastically well. Outside that, Atiku will have a field day in the north, especially with the common hatred the north now has for Tinubu
Atiku can never win the north convincingly

Goodluck...no
The one whose ambition is not worth the blood of Nigerians won't have the liver to outwit the president going by the dirty doings that litters Nigeria political space
An Obi ticket would be great but how will he get North votes?
SS is swaying to Tinubu
SW is locked down
Half of North Central too
If they go by my proposition at least they'll win SE/ NE, battle NW with APC .
Very true though obi will lose more than half of his fans
PoliticsRe: Risky Concessions For ADC To Stand A Chance (OPINION) by Akpakomiza2: 7:12am On Jul 06, 2025
Aiel123:
This is a well thought strategy I think might work for ADC in it's quest to plant it's flag in Aso Rock if all parties involved agree to make this concession, which would demand some costly sacrifice, while not downplaying the chance of this concessional strategy to go wrong

Since Atiku and Obi are the only ones in the coalition who have at least quarter a chance to win the presidential election in 2027,an Atiku/Obi ticket might suffice with some risky tweaks

Obi and his Obidients group has spoken that is the presidency or nothing
Atiku too is vying for a last shot...Clash of interest abounds and the north- south unwritten rotation is another albatross on Atiku's aspiration

How to resolve this?
Let Atiku and Obi run together as presidential candidate and VP respectively but with this tweak
Atiku and Obi should sign a written contract binding on both party ( Only them should know of this) that Atiku will resign six months or a year into their presidency, handing power to Obi
Atiku should keep this arrangement away from his northern cliche
Obi should discreetly tell his kinsmen ( trusted one though) so as to checkmate voters apathy in SE
The scenario will be that while Atiku galvanize the north, the east will vote Obi indirectly through Atiku as Obi get to rule for 3years max if eventually they win ( Obi himself said that if the present administration can destroy Nigeria in 2years,then 2years should be enough to fix the country, going by this I think 3years will be enough for Obi to prove himself)

It have the tendency to be a win win situation
Since the core north(aside Christian dominated areas won't vote Obi) and the south won't vote Atiku.
Long time. The best way to win APC is to field Jonathan goodluck

He won the FCT, where the opposition president resides.
He conquered Lagos, the home turf of his main rival, where the opposition once ruled and ran their campaign from.
He amassed 6,101,533 votes barely 8 months after joining a new party with no so-called “structure.”
Buhari did more in 2003 with Anpp and cpc in 2011. Buhari had 12 million votes

See how you contradicted yourself? GEJ made all the wrong moves, yet appointing Jega was the right move because it favored APC? What would have happened if GEJ chose a close ally as INEC Chairman then? Will you call that naivety, strength or foolishness?

So to you, Tinubu just sat there and those who were not happy with GEJ just walked to him. So with all your so called calculations, you do not know that a lot of those in the PDP were his previous associates? So you do not know that in discussing with them, he seized the tempo of the moment to ask them to form a coalition? When you hear the words “political coup”, what do you think it means? Do you call it child’s play?

If you do not know that the word “coalition” means the same as “merger”, then you must take basic English classes. Then you do not know that to merge and to coalesce mean to team up. If I did not mention earlier that Tinubu teamed up with APP in 1999, you would not have known, not to talk of referencing it.

Oga, GEJ’s intention to contest for a second term was the matter. Nothing more and nothing less. The North felt that since Yaradua did not serve out his four years and GEJ had done close to six years, he had eaten into their time. They wanted him to leave. The other abracadabra about destroying the economy was conjured to throw him out.

Tell us if the hardship inflicted by your APC led government has not touched you so far, just as Tinubu and these same people in the coalition against him, insisted that Nigerians were suffering before 2015, in their false narratives.

We are talking about how to make life worthy of living for Nigerians and you are talking about Tinubu being the greatest politician. How has it made life better for citizens? How do those things corelate?
Jega is the best inec chairman since 1999, he was fair and started the introduction of technology into the voting system. If it favoured APC which wanted a free and fair poll and affected pdp which depended on crude, manual rigging, then it is unfortunate. It was good for democracy nonetheless. So far Yakubu has toeing the same path of making our election process better. Appointing of jega was never a factor sir.
Gej started fighting Amechi who was chairman of governors forum rather than warning up to him and bringing him closer or making him a better offer. Same moves should have been made towards Kwankwaso and Wamakko yet he allowed them leave so cheaply.he could easily have dropped the electorally irrelevant Sambo and paired with one of them.

Atiku was at the forefront of the gentleman agreement he signed with the north in 2011. All he needed was to promise to make handover power personally to him in 2019.
You are the one in dire need of English lessons sire.according to the dictionary. A coalition is a temporary or short term arrangement to grab power or achieve a set goals not a permanent arrangement. In a coalition, different organizations or entities or in this case parties come together to align without dumping or losing their current identity or structure sir. A merger is a permanent arrangement. In a coalition, different parties simply support or adopt one platform and later dissolve back to their independent or former arrangements. They don't collapse permanently unlike a merger. Better consult your dictionary

Yes things are difficult economically and even security wise but it started under your dear PDP. Despite the recession and bad state under buhari, he still defeated PDP in 2019 comfortably. so I don't think that will play a great role. What will basically determine 2027 is the political structure, personalities, moves and resources as it has always done. Besides, obi and Atiku will not outperform Tinubu. If you want someone that may outperform Tinubu, why not support the Adesina,Duke, okonjo iweala and even Amaechi?

Except a miracle happens, Atiku will almost certainly fly the ADC ticket and pick Amechi or someone else.Obi will contest in another party. Both Tinubu and atiku will still share NE/NW, Tinubu will take north central, SW and SS. Obi takes SE. period. You should learn from Edo polls and stop all these back and forth

GEJ was never a political weakling as you termed him. He was an honest man, who totally separated politics from national cohesion. If he wanted, he would not have had Jega as the INEC chairman. If he intended to keep himself in power, he would have rejected the results. He stayed the course and handed over peacefully. Your baba go slow publicly admitted that he was surprised that GEJ called him and congratulated him.

Tinubu did not gang up and yet he supported GEJ in 2011 against his own party’s candidate, Ribadu? Were you not there then? He did not gang up, but he formed a coalition, using PDP’s highest ranking officers? What do you call that, snuggling together?

If he wins, that’s fine. If he loses, that still alright. But that should mean that he also got paid back in his own coin.

Anyway, did you notice that he already showed concern?
Gej was politically naive and he paid for it, he was making all the wrong moves(appointing jega wasn't a wrong move) Tinubu does not make wrong moves so how will you win him? Did Tinubu force the pdp governors and atiku cartel to join APC? They defected on their own will. Gej pushed them to even defect by alienating them, Tinubu will never push out a formidable fellow or group...

You saying tinubu showed concern shows your political naivety. Is he not human? You are very funny. Only a foolish politician will not show concern when opposition are making moves. Tinubu started planning for 2027 right from when he won 2027. He is the greatest politician in Nigerian history whether you accept it or not. Forget about 2027 except Gej contests or Tinubu northern supporters abandon him..
By the way, what happened in 2013 wasn't a coalition but a merger. An example of a coalition was in 1999 when AD and ANPP supported Falae

Seriously? Let’s do some arithmetic:- South: OBJ - 8yrs, GEJ - 6yrs, Tinubu - 4 (after this tenure), making a total of 18yrs.

North: Yaradua- 2yrs, Buhari- 8yrs, making a total of 10yrs.

If a southerner Tinubu or Obi should do another 4yrs, that would give the south a total of 22yrs as against the 10yrs from the north.

Do you still think it’s fair for another southern candidate?
Did Nigeria start in 1999

Akpakomiza again. Well this one no be Edo politics.

Like already mentioned, all those who coalesced against GEJ are getting the reward in kind. Nobody ever thought this coalition would come or. Here we are today, with many previously silent political bigwigs waking up to join.

Others long got their rewards with their losses. Next is the baba himself. Why not go and appease GEJ first? Maybe there something deeper about him that we need to know.
Tinubu is not a political weakling like Gej. Tinubu didn't gangup against Gej after all they were never in the same party. Same Tinubu supported Gej in 2011.

Edo politics is very difficult to predict so if you get it right, you can get Nigeria. After Tinubu wins again, you will still come and debate erroneously about 2031 elections so what's the point

What about Tinubu himself? Is he not the master of making coalitions and switching parties?

If you do not have information, why continue the Atiku story as if others are saints? While they remain in one party, they sponsor candidates from other parties. Where did the word “placeholder” originate from?

Tinubu was in the AD party when he joined forces with the then APP to support Olu Falae in 1999.
In 2003, the odds were heavy against AD’s control in the SW. PDP was like a tsunami that swept AD away. Tinubu agreed with Obasanjo’s second term to secure his own seat as the state governor. He joined the coalition with Obasanjo for his own survival. His party -AD- agreed to support Obasanjo, a fellow Yoruba man to remain in power. He was very lucky, as it backfired against AD in the SW. They did not reckon that OBJ and Atiku had targeted to sweep AD out of power in the entire SW. I remember vividly how on election day, BAT was on the streets moving to secure polling booths. He was the only AD governor who escaped the political tsunami. Bisi Onabanjo, Niyi Adebayo, etc were naive and swept out of power. I recall Atiku saying the he simply allowed Tinubu to remain as governor in 2003, out of friendship. He nearly removed Tinubu!

Crisis between BAT and others in AD on one hand and Tinubu and Afenifere on the other hand, caused Tinubu to move on from AD to form AC, another party. It meant that Tinubu decamped from AD. Those of you who say he never decamped from a party live in illusion. Atiku was having issues with OBJ over his ambition. Tinubu teamed up with the same Atiku in 2006 to give Atiku the Presidential ticket. BAT needed a platform to project himself on the national level, as AD was known as a regional party. Atiku contested in 2007 on the platform of AC and lost to Yaradua. AC transformed to ACN. The next elections came up in 2011. ACN brought up Nuhu Ribadu as the candidate. While Ribadu was the candidate of his own party, the same BAT supported GEJ against his own party’s candidate. Recently, Jonathan’s wife told us how BAT supported her husband in 2011 against Ribadu and Buhari. The same master planner finally teamed up against GEJ in 2014. He formed a coalition with elements of PDP, chief among them was the same Rotimi Amaechi, El Rufai, etc. They all including Atiku were members of PDP at some points. He brought others from APGA, ANPP and baba go slow. They all formed the coalition to remove the then sitting GEJ.

Can we not see that everyone who joined forces against GEJ are getting the same measure of issues that they set up. BAT set up a coalition to remove him. Now a coalition has been set up to remove BAT himself. Just as GEJ was not allowed to serve out his second term, the coalition now is set up to stop BAT from having his second term.

What goes around, comes around everyone!
Tinubu will still defeat Atiku again starting from the North
