I am really sorry for the late reply.
Ingredients: Green pea, broccoli, carrot, cabbage, cucumber, chicken thigh.

Cook the green pea, broccoli and carrot until tender. Chop the cabbage and cucumber and set side. Prepare marinate for the chicken thigh by mixing chopped onions, curry, thyme, seasoning, ground pepper, garlic (optional), salt, one egg. Marinate the chicken and sit in the fridge for at least 30 minute or more. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees celsius place the marinated chicken in a baking pan and bake for one hour (flip the chicken to the other side 30 mins into the baking time). Serve the vegetables onto a plate along side the baked chicken.

i stepped into d kitchen depressed..
a thought popped into my head.

i opened the fridge saw some dying veggies, yester night's suya.. i decided to make fried rice.

problem.. no maggi, no sweetcorn, no green peas.

i went ahead. made this awesome looking, fair-tasting fried rice with what i had. here is the result..

Flour
Sugar
Salt (pinch)
Baking powder
Flavour (optional)
Milk
Egg

Mix the flour, salt n baking powder together.
In a separate bowl, mix d egg, sugar n milk together. Add to d flour mixture....mix very well.
Add water till it forms a dough.
Cut into ur desired shape n deep fry.

Have you seen a situation where those who lost out in Peak, Shell, NYSC or NNPC essay competitions are contacted and given explaination as regards why they lost out? The scores of those who made top 8 has been published. If your's wasn't there it means you failed to accumulate the needed score. Shey WAEC or NECO they give explaination letter to those wey fail their exam ni? You passed through secondary school, you are in or have passed through tertiary school and you are still looking for people to explain why you did not win in an essay competion. Carry the essay go give your English teacher or Lecturer na. If any of the judges decides to evaluate an essay that did not make the list then its purely a gift to the person and not a compulsory task that must be done. I hate whining, especially when its coming from guys.

Stop your hypocritical behavior.. if urs was not among d top 3 you would have been OVER WHINING. You flagged peoples essay and you are here playing the nice fellow here and making us requesting for our result look stupid.

This is not WAEC or NECO. We are all learning here and a result would spur us into working on our weak parts.

I think I saw my score in the pic MissMeiya posted showing some of the essays that had been scored at the time. It was high but not high enough.
Needless to say, I didn't make the final eight.. And i think I have a pretty good idea why.
MY ESSAY WASN'T AS GOOD AS THE FINAL EIGHT.
The simplest explanation is usually the best. Now if I were to go into specifics, I'd probably note that I sorta ever so slightly veered off the purpose of the competition (highlight a problem in society and present a cost effective solution).
So please, search yourself. I'd like to believe we're mature enough to be comfortable knowing we can't win it all (the most successful businessman isn't always the best husband or dad) and also to analyse our work to pick out flaws. If you can't on your own, then get a friend or family member so you can both go over it.. But this issue of asking for feedback or demanding explanation from the judges as to why your work didn't make it to the top eight is a bit over the top.
As for fairness, AltarBoy1, I'm sure you're talking about some of the essays that got flagged by Martin301 but still made it to the final eight. Hey that's life, the judges know what they wanted from the essays. It's best we take it in the chin and just move on.
Again, congrats to the winners and I hope we can all make it one of our personal goals that by this time next year, we'll be one of the financial sponsors to this wonderful competition.
