You are disappointed in Prof Sagay because you lack knowledge, God save Queen Victoria, not Elizabeth, you don’t know anything of what you are talking about, the 1963 constitution is what abolished the parliamentary system (British), and turned us into a presidential system like the Americans, which was the bedrock for the 1979 Constitution, now Amended 1999 Constitution.

No you are wrong sir..

1979 constitution fully turned Nigeria to an American system.

One of the objectives of 1963 constitution is to have an elected president who would no longer represent the Queen.. Nigeria wanted to be independent from the Queen

The constitution of 1963 used the British Parliamentary or Cabinet System. The act of 1979 adopted the American Presidential system (the Washington Model)

I am not necessary calling for Westminster style of government but a parliamentary federal system of Government that would bring government close to people

And I don't know what you meant by this "God save Queen Victoria, not Elizabeth"

The British government is owned by the Queen.....presently Queen Elizabeth...Her Majesty Government

And if you don't agree with me on constitution to adopt you should at least agree that the Prof analogy was wrong.
Politics / Re: Sagay To National Assembly: British Parliament Can’t Summon Queen by Alaska90(m): 10:21pm On Dec 10, 2020
Sagay who said summoning Buhari amounts to denigrating the sovereignty of Nigeria also reminded the lawmakers that the British Parliament cannot summon the Queen to respond to any issue.

I am so disappointed in this Prof ( Nigerian with big title but zero Knowledge ).

Mr Prof the Queen of England is not just ordinary head of state but the owner of the country.

Everything in the country is named after her eg Royal Navy, Royal mail, Her Majesty Government HMG etc

Everybody is working for her.....She is above the law!...she cant be taken to court for any offence!

According to British system, she has delegated the management of day to day affairs of her country to the Prime minister which is selected by the British people

And the parliament can summon the Prime minister to explain anything at any time.

But fortunately. there is what you call a Prime minister question day , normally on Wednesday where Member of the parliament MP can question the Prime minister on any issue affecting the country or their constituencies.

Thereby taking democracy to the people.

This is what we should be advocating for in Nigeria rather than another useless and expensive election in 2023 with the same military constitution.

We need to go back to people constitution which is the 1963 constitution and reform it to current situation of the country.

Imagine having a President like Buhari that you only see in public once in a year......he cant not answer any critical question correctly.

That's the reason they don't want him to go to the house of assembly.

I am so disappointed in this Prof oh.

I have attached a map re-Re-Drawing Historical Maps of the Bight of Benin Hinterland, c. 1580.

I told you to differentiate between influence and being under empire

There is nothing in history both written and oral to suggest that Benin was directly ruling these places in this map

They influenced many place for example Owo culture of beads

what about common kingdom

What is your point?

Yoruba people are independent and were living in different kingdoms with Ife Kingdom as an ancestral home for everybody.

But Oyo Empire because of its military might ( especially its Calvary army unit) wanted to bring everybody under one empire but some refused and fought Oyo back.

But actually this topic was about similar words in Yoruba and Edo languages....why all the history?
Culture / Re: Yoruba Words That Mean The Same In Edo by Alaska90(m): 5:06pm On Dec 08, 2020
OsamaB:

First of all, Yoruba is originally in reference to the Oyo empire and it was the name Hausa people called them (i.e. Oyoruba). Meaning an Ijebu man is Ijebu and Egba people are Egba.

Second of all, Edo was another empire and empires can comprise of different tribe of people who may not be the same. So, even the Benin empire of today can never lay claim of Ekiti or Ondo, even though they were part of the Benin empire. Even Bini and Esan people are different but know they have a history.

Third, the idea of calling people bastards to claim superiority is very weak. The British dismantled the empires and the Nigerian government cancelled history but that doesn't give you the right to insult people who you don't know.

Please I am sorry you are spreading false narrative on internet

The places you mentioned were never under Benin empire at anytime in history

And if you think otherwise, please can give references so that I can learn more

There is a different between influence and being under an empire

Yoruba camp to do what ?

Yoruba street is a recent naming just like Lagos street in benin

your illusion will not work

if you want to talk about camp for war ........

then I will tell you that Yoruba never in history wage a war against another tribe except themselves the only war they wage against another tribe was Oyo against Fulani and they lost

That's not true brother....its important to study history before making this type of statement

I will correct you here...

First of all, the word Yoruba to describe people that have the same origin ( ile-ife) is of recent in history

They were simply call Ekiti, Ijebu, Egba, Oyo, Awori etc

Secondly, Oyo empire fought more wars than most kingdoms in modern day Nigeria.....and that's what led to their downfall

They fought with many other Yoruba groups as you rightly said but also with Fulani, Hausa, Tapa, Ajase ( Yoruba in Benin Republic ) , Dahomey Kingdom ( very powerful kingdom), Nupe etc

Please note that Old Oyo empire known as as Oyo ile was in present day Niger state in Nigeria

Below extract is from history book -

The Oyo Empire was a Yoruba empire of what is today Benin and Western Nigeria (including Southwest zone and the western half of Northcentral zone). The Oyo Empire grew to become the largest Yoruba state. It rose through the outstanding organizational and administrative skills of the Yoruba people, wealth gained from trade and its powerful cavalry. The Oyo Empire was one of the most politically important states in the entirety of Western Africa from the mid-7th to the late 18th century,[2] holding sway not only over most of the other kingdoms in Yorubaland, but also over nearby African states, notably the Fon Kingdom of Dahomey in the modern Republic of Benin to the west.

Reference - Forde, 1967 page 36

Please Note- Benin in the first sentence above is referring to Benin Republic and not Edo

Mouth in ibo onu Edo is inu Yoruba is enu

Oba means king in Bini but Yoruba took it from the bini. It is normal when you stay with people for a long time, they will always be adoption of some words

Baba in Yoruba means father in Edo it is Abale.
Beside baba is not used by the Yorubas alone some tribe across the globe uses it.

That is a bloody lie.... Oba means King in Yoruba language

Yoruba people don't normally use it as a title like Benin people

Good idea, but the DPOs and wardens will always hide their victims once the appointment is booked.. During the ENDSARS protests, the governor visited Awkuzu SARS and only saw about 2 or 3 detainees. Do you need anybody to tell you that like a hyena running away with it's kill, the officers have hidden the main detainees elsewhere?

Yes that's true but the meeting can be made without appointment ( no fixed time )

And secondly each state government or AG can make the office of the visiting magistrate a place where you can report any police station detaining anybody more than 48hrs without charging to court. And the magistrate can then go and free the person and charge the DPO to court or to be disciplined by a committee set up for that

There are ways to stop these nonsense if we are willing.

How did the Nigeria Army come to this conclusion?

That's the question every intelligent person should be asking first

But unfortunately Nigerian are not that intelligent.

The goal of the Army making that statement has been achieved already.....just read through this topic

Politics / American Hostage Rescued In Northern Nigeria By SEAL Team 6 In Daring Raid by Alaska90(m): 3:11pm On Oct 31, 2020
An American hostage has been rescued in West Africa by SEAL Team 6 in a daring raid, Fox News has learned.

The elite SEAL Team 6 staged a daring raid in the West African country of Nigeria, rescuing Philip Walton, 27, who had been taken hostage, officials told Fox News.

“We had to get him before any potential trade or sale,” one U.S. official said.

President Donald Trump tweeted out a show of support, calling the operation a "big win" for the elite force, and promised further details.

Walton was kidnapped in Niger, which borders Nigeria, earlier this week. The hostage rescue took place in northern Nigeria earlier today.

TRUMP MEETS WITH ARMY UNIT THAT CONDUCTED AL-BAGHDADI RAID, AWARDS CITATION

The SEALs rescued Walton after killing a number of his captors. SEAL Team 6 was chosen for the operation because they are responsible for West Africa, Fox News has learned.

“U.S. forces conducted a hostage rescue operation during the early hours of 31 October in Northern Nigeria to recover an American citizen held hostage by a group of armed men," Jonathan Hoffman, chief Pentagon spokesman, said in a statement.

"This American citizen is safe and is now in the care of the U.S. Department of State. No U.S military personnel were injured during the operation."

"We appreciate the support of our international partners in conducting this operation," Hoffman added. "The United States will continue to protect our people and our interests anywhere in the world.”

As for sterling, You came asking when prices are going up, this stock stayed for long below 1.20, you may gamble with some units and ready to average down if price pullback...................you may be lucky it wont pullback more.............or wont pullback at all.

Alternatively, you may wait for pullback.............but the issue is that the pullback may be at higher price
