The most difficult time to be in a relationship as a guy is in your early twenties.

The period when you are stuck in a limbo, trying to figure out yourself and who you want to be.
At this age, you find it a herculean task asking money from your parents, considering your dad will always remind you of how he was self sufficient at your age.
So you are always left with "Nkechiyere" anyone that comes from them willingly.

To compound your "woes". You have a girlfriend whom you love so much, you are 24 and she is 23.
And guys being wired to want to take control, you are frustrated at your inability to take care of her like you want to.
I mean where is the money??
You are still jobless, still hustling, still finding your feet.
Still putting hands into many things hoping oluwa smiles on you.

All of a sudden, she starts acting out and showing attitude.
You call, and she takes forever to pick or return your calls.
When she finally does pick, the call is like an interview session with those annoying and frustrating one word replies.
Yes, no, fine, okay, nothing.

Then finally she ends the call with a flimsy excuse like " wait let me close the fridge", i will call you back. And the call never comes back.

Then one day she calls you and asks you "where is this relationship heading to?.
You dont even know where your own life is heading to, not to talk of a relationship.

Then she drops the bombshell. Tells you that she met a guy who wants to marry her.
And how age isnt on her side, and you are almost compelled to scream "But you are just 23". Can't you wait 3 more years let me make it.

You just hold yourself and play the good guy
You ask her if she loves him, she dodges the question and replies you with " He treats me well".

Well since she wasn't informing you to take permission, she was simply telling you.
You have to be the cool guy and wish her well.
One week later, she gives you the traditional wedding card. And then you do the math yourself.
She was talking to the guy a long time before now.

Then you realise that for every "K" you got on WhatsApp, the guy was getting a long epistle.
You have been played.

Worse is you cant even blame her, you are just a prospect who no one knows what will become of your life in 4years time.
Would you have made it or not?
She has gone for the real deal, someone who has already made it.
In footballing terms, you are a "Anthony Martial" ( prospect) while the guy is a Messi ( has made it already).
I mean you were sending her cards of 5cedis, and the guy was telling her to manage 10k for the weekend.
No comparison there.

And then you go through that silent heartbreak guys go through, the ones they don't talk about.
And unceremoniously you get inducted into the special hall of fame where members are young guys whose childhood loves and friends or girlfriends they thought they would end up with left them to marry someone else.
Your heart is broken into smithereens.

In this hall of fame, you are all victims. Victims of not having found your path in your early twenties.

At the wedding, no sight is more heartbreaking than seeing "the love of your life" say "I do" to this guy she just met 6 months ago.
To make matters worse, you get an alert from ECOBANK telling you how 40cedis has been deducted for bank charges. You are mad.
Your 1140, is down to 1100 rendering that 100cedis useless, you can only withdraw 1k now.
And that's your home and abroad.

Can life be more unfair at this moment?

To make matters worse, she tells you that she wants you to be the god-father to her first son.
You are livid, the plan you both made was to be the father, god wasn't there. Why are you involving god now.

You chin it up, suck it, move on and double your hustle.

6 years later. You are 30 now. Congratulations, you finally made it. You are as rich as you hoped you will become.
You are one of the happening guys in town.

You are seated scouting the hall, and the bridal train passes by.

A medical doctor identified as Ehidiamen Oakimena was allegedly killed by suspected Fulani herdsmen along Okada-Benin road in Edo state, according to multiple online reports. The doctor who was a senior registrar in Department of Anaethesia University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH) reportedly died after suffering from complications and excessive bleeding after he was shot by his attackers.

According to reports, about 30 pints of blood were donated for the doctor but he couldn't make it at the end.

The Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, on Friday upheld the decision of the Federal High Court in Lagos, which ordered the interim forfeiture of a sum of $5.9m found in Mrs. Patience Jonathan’s Skye Bank account.
The appellate court, in a lead judgment by Justice Mojeed Owoade, threw out the ex-President’s wife’s appeal, challenging the forfeiture of the funds to the Federal Government.

It held that the appeal lacked merit.



Justice Mojisola Olatoregun of the Federal High Court in Lagos had in April last year ordered the temporary forfeiture of the funds after the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission argued that the money was reasonably suspected to the proceeds of fraud.

Apart from Patience’s personal account with $5.9m, the judge also froze a number of accounts linked with her including an Ecobank account, with a balance of N2.4bn, opened in the name of one La Wari Furniture and Bath Limited.

But efforts to secure an order for the permanent forfeiture of the money was opposed by Patience, through her lawyer, Mr. Ifedayo Adedipe (SAN).

Also, Chief Mike Ozekhome (SAN), on behalf of La Wari Furniture and Bath Limited, opposed the permanent forfeiture of the funds in its client’s account.

The two lawyers subsequently went on appeal, seeking to overturn the temporary forfeiture order and recover the funds.

But the appellate court on Friday dismissed their appeals.

The EFCC had in an affidavit it filed before Justice Olatoregun said its investigation revealed that Patience
opened the Skye Bank account on February 7, 2013, and used it to allegedly warehouse proceeds of crime.

According to an operative of the EFCC, Musbahu Abubakar, the former first lady made several cash deposits in United States dollar into the account, through a former Special Assistant to ex-President Jonathan, Waripamo-Owei Dudafa, and a State House steward, Festus Iyoha.
He said as of January 30, 2015, the Skye Bank account had a balance of $6.7m but Patience subsequently withdrew it down to $5.9m.
The EFCC had prayed the court to urgently freeze the account so as to prevent Patience for moving the funds.
Justice Olatoregun had then granted the interim forfeiture order and adjourned till May 22, 2017, for anyone interested in the funds to appear before her to show cause why the funds should not be permanently forfeited to the Federal Government.

Man loses both legs in hippo attack in Kenya.

There is rising cases of human-wildlife conflicts in Naivasha, where wild animals have been straying out of their natural habitats in search of pasture and water.

Doctors have amputated the legs of a man who was attacked by a hippo in Lake Naivasha at the weekend.

The doctors said cutting off both legs under the knees was the only way to save the life of the father of two.

The amputation came amid concerns over rising cases of human-wildlife conflicts in the town.

Naivasha is home to two major national parks and several animal sanctuaries. Wild animals have been straying out of their natural habitats in search of pasture and water, especially following the prolonged drought.

In the latest case, three men were attacked by a herd of hippos in Kasarani and Oserian. One died and the others were seriously injured.

Susan Kamau, a nurse at the Naivasha Sub-County Hospital, said the two were brought to the hospital in serious condition. She said the legs of one of the victims were completely crushed.

"It was impossible to treat them. The victim had to be rushed to theatre as his legs were literally hanging from the skin. They had to be amputated as we did not have any other option.”

She said the man would get artificial legs after recovery.

“The second victim had deep injuries in the thighs. He is in stable condition and will be discharged soon,” she added.
