Politics › Re: What Diepreye Jackson Dikibo Said About Allen Onyema In 2014 by alezzy13: 12:20pm On Nov 24, 2019

This is quite simple. Everybody is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a competent court of law. When incidents like this break out, everybody should seek for more information on the subject. Information enlightens.

You have concluded that this piece is, " solely aimed at casting aspersions on the genuineness of the source of funds used in floating Air peace." I don't know whether that is true or not. The writer has made an allegation. It could be true or false, but some of the things in his allegation tally with the things in the indictment by the Department of Justice (which is what brought it to my attention). If it is false, then it can easily be refuted by information that debunks it (that's the beauty of a forum such as this. Information is shared to enlighten people and if better information comes along, it is used to refute what was previously there).

What I find surprising is that people are focusing on nonsense like ethnicity, instead of the important stuff, like the details of the case.

I'm a Nigerian and so I hope and pray that he is innocent (I actually found that piece when I was looking for information that absolves him), but that's just my emotions. I always put my emotions aside when I'm searching for information and I simply let the facts lead me.
*sigh* Thats our story sad

You crazy ipod miscreants have been making so much noise about Tinubu. If you have any evidence against all the people you have mentioned, please do the needful. Send their names and evidences to USA so they can investigate them.

USA is bringing up allegation about onyema and instead of you to face them, you are calling Tinubu and fashola...the same Tinubu you animals call drug lord and claim he was arrested and has been banned from entering the USA.
How many Yorubas blamed you flat headed morons when Tinubu was accused of drugs and forfeited money to the USA?

Instead of facing the USA, as usual you want to blame Yorubas for every problem you encounter even when it's glaring you are the cause .
Honestly its absolutely sickening to say the least. What they fail to realize is that persecution complex is not going to do thier cause any good.

Fot what its worth, though not Igbo, I have found myself standing for the aviation magnate, becos aprt from the magnanimity he showed during the xenophobia fiasco, he has that charming, unassuming personality, untainted by politics, that endears him to people. . .but honestly some of the comments of these S/Easterners are making me have a serious rethink.

[s]They are very pathetic and foolish....so tribalistic and idiotic set of people. Everyday on Nairaland makes me dislike them the more angry angry

Nigerian Government under President Buhari and vp Osinbajo have awarded Apapa-Oshodi-Berger expressway to Aliko Dangote at a ridiculous outrageous inflated price and now told Dangote not to pay tax for 10 years or so.

To them, it is worth it.

Governments will continue to enrich their allies till the world comes to an end. If Goodluck's regime awarded Allen Onyema contracts that made him earn money and started a legitimate airline business, what is the crime therehuh

Dangote has been benefiting from such government favors, contracts, policies which is why he is a billionaire today, but Yorubas are cool with it so long as its not their sworn enemy Igbos that did them no wrong.

This is one reason they don't want an Igbo man to become Nigeria's President because they don't want Igbos to enjoy the wealth of Nigeria they and their Hausa-Fulani masters have been enjoying since 1970 that made them parade themselves as billionaires without any ingenuity or invention.

Useless bunch of tribal fools angry angry[/s]
I read your insightful comments on the other thread and actually thought you way smarter than this. Disappointing to say the least. undecided

catoluy:
[s]IPOB Leader Nnamdi Kanu warned Onyeama that Nigeria is never comfortable to see an Igbo man as the face of business or unseat Dangote. IPOB warned him that no matter what he does for Nigeria, they will come after him like Innoson, Ibeto and others, and will shred him to pieces. Another Nnamdi Kanu prophecy happening! As he always says " serve the zoo and come back in shame.[/s]"
most likely you've not even read the indictment. Investigations at the behest of US, dating back to 2010 (btw, who was in power then??) which gave full and complete details about the transactions and you're talking trash.

Its really regrettable that OP and his jobless cohorts are fighting hard to bring ethnic coloration to this, when it is clear that the support for aviation magnate has been near universal. Indeed, aside some incorrigible tribalists, almost all have voiced support for him. Only today we've read how the youth council which comprises Arewa, Ijaw, Ohaneze, etc is even asking FG to protect the much loved businessman.

Pls I suggest for the sake of the man, OP and his cohorts be ignored.

This has to be one of the most useless thread I've seen in a while. What's the point exactly?

I'm not Igbo, but let's face it, Allen is miles above Tinubu. Even on Twitter you can see Northeners coming to the defence of the former.

Why na. How many rich Nigerians have they accused of fraud? The US investigators are not like ours. Sometimes they allow illegal activities to run for years so that they can have concrete evidence. Their criminal lawyers are very smart, so if they don't have good evidence, It will just be a futile exercise.
Or they waited for him to move substantial amounts to US banks before striking. Notice how quickly they are looking to seize the funds:

American law enforcement authorities indicated in the charge document that efforts had commenced to secure final forfeitures of the funds.
Fact remains they may have the strictest financial regulations, but the US currently governed by Donald Trump is no bastion of a just society. They play dirty as it suits them.

It's really unfortunate this is happening.

He had a humble beginning before he ventured into oil, and real-estate. So forget, we know this one reach huz. That you question should be directed to people like Alakija, Gen. TY Danjuma and the rest.

Yea, just checked...for them to get an indictment, that means thousands of hours of meticulous investigation must have been in play, so DOJ must have compelling evidence to nail him to a stake! He has very few options left and going to jail is topping the list, the question now is for how long.

Bankowner:
Onyema's lawyers can only do little from here. As a matter of urgency they should get competent legal representation for him in the US and allow those ones study the allegations and advice them accordingly.

If he has a good case, the American lawyers should proceed immediately to clear Onyema and Ejiro's name of the charges.
Quite true.

Like someone noted in the previous thread, those guys in the US are very thorough. This is unlike what we see here with EFCC who goes to media making noise only to have the case thrown out by the court.

Some just want to make it look like it's just a case of money transfer from Nigeria. It's deeper than that. I actually like this guy and I sure hope he can beat the charges. There's bank fraud involved here. The Feds do make mistakes but not in a large case like this. When they come for you, they have done their homework very well and they will catch you by the balls. No escaping. Been through it and still standing. Mr Oyenma wil go through the painful process and will come out of it sooner or later. Chances that his businesses will survive this is slim to none. Unless the Nigerian govt decides to step in for National security reason as this is the only truly national airline for now. I sure hope the govt. will give this man all the support he can get without appearing as if they are supporting a criminal

Una don start. Go and read the history of how Airpeace came to be and how the license was almost denied despite the fact it was during GEJs regime.

Some people have PhD in pretense.
Well like I said I don't know him personally but have been inspired by his antecedents.

Domestic airlines have become infamous for the very high mortality rate, yet his airpeace continues to grow in leaps and bounds, and only few months ago he was specially recognized by the NA. ..

Well let's see how this case pans out.

Another issue why the crass rhetoric? On one hand you claim he's innocent until guilty, yet you make these kinds of statement:

Allen Onyema’s status as a wealthy businessman turned out to be a fraud. He corrupted the U.S. banking system, but his trail of deceit and trickery came to a skidding halt

He did not buy USA planes this time around. He bought Canadians made planes lately. How could he launder money when the money is his and he had functioning company in air peace?
Thats the problem. I don't think they are questioning if the money is his or not.

It seems in the US, If you claim to do "A" with the money especially when in millions, and you end up doing "B", it counts as fraud, even if the money is legitimately yours

He claimed he was going to buy planes in the US, but didn't do so.

Onyema sold land in Banana Island? Funny guy.
Even Olu Okeowo the man with the most lands in Banana Island didn't claim to have gotten 20M Usd from selling lands in Banana Island.

See, this your foolish story up here would further nail Onyema. Forgery is an offence, presenting a forged document is another offence. Stop typing as if you didn't go to school.
I'm not aware of the banana island sales, but from his biography I read, most of the money he made was from the peace initiatives he established, especially during the peak of the ND crisis. Allen was actually already very wealthy before venturing into aviation.

It is normal practice for businessmen to raise LC and divert some of the money for something else. After all if you have cash in Nigeria and wish to take some out for other investments, how else do you do it? You cannot just carry $1m in your bag through the airport naa. Neither can you go to the bank and say you want to wire the money to the US.
See alot of rich business people do this!
Na wa o. So if as a rich guy I decide to move my legimately earned money to the US (which could be in the millions) and do something else with it, that counts as money launderinghuh

These Oyibo people sef angry

Just read through the charges again, and I think the main issue is that he didn't (whether willingly or ignorantly) follow due process. At least unlike the Invictus case, they have not accused him of stealing from anyone.
