Flying Eagles Crash Out Of
2021 U-20 AFCON Nigeria’s U-20 men’s team, Flying Eagles, have crashed out of the WAFU B Zonal qualifiers holding in Porto Novo, Benin Republic, Completesports.com reports. The Flying Eagles have now missed the chance to be at next year’s U-20 AFCON in Mauritania. Their elimination was confirmed after Cote d’Ivoire defeated Ghana 1-0 in Group B’s last fixture on Saturday. The Flying Eagles needed Ghana to beat Cote d’Ivoire by a wide margin to stand a chance of qualifying for the semi-finals of the WAFU B Zonal qualifiers. In their first game the Nigerian side played 1-1 with Cote d’Ivoire before losing 1-0 to Ghana. After two rounds of games played by the three countries, Cote d’Ivoire top the group on four points, Ghana second on three points and the Flying Eagles third on one point. Following Saturday’s result Ghana and Cote d’Ivoire advance into the last four while the Ladan Bosso-led side are out. |
Chelsea-Owned Striker With Caps For England
Youth Commits International Future To Nigeria
Published: December 12, 2020 Allnigeriasoccer.com can exclusively report that the Super Eagles are in line to welcome a new addition to their team in the coming months with Chelsea-owned striker Ike Ugbo committing his international future to Nigeria. As previously reported by this website more than two years ago, the Nigerian Federation are already familiar with Ugbo having held secret talks with the striker at the Super Eagles Crowne Plaza Hotel Ealing ahead of a pre-World Cup friendly with Serbia to gauge his interest in representing the Nigerian national teams. Ugbo has now made it clear his international future lies with Nigeria though he also qualifies to represent his country of birth, England as well as world champions France. The 22-year-old feels he's more connected to Nigeria than France and England because because many of his friends are Nigerians and the rest have African background. This week, the Cercle Brugge star started the process of filing a one-time change of association which is necessary as he previously played competitive matches for England U17 national team, and he's hoping the paperwork is completed before Nigeria's AFCON qualifiers with Benin and Lesotho. Ugbo has been in fine form in the last sixteen months, scoring 21 goals combined for Roda JC and Cercle Brugge. The Nigerian Federation managed to convince and cap-tie the likes of Alex Iwobi, Ola Aina, Victor Moses and Shola Ameobi after they featured for England youth teams and Ugbo is set to follow suit. |

PSV Striker, Madueke: I’m
Open To Playing For
Nigeria PSV Nigerian striker Noni Madueke says he is not ruling out the possibility of representing Nigeria at senior international level. Madueke, 18, has made appearances for England at youth level, notably netting four in only six games for the U18s But he is also eligible for Nigeria through his parents. Nigeria have proved successful in prizing talent away from the Three Lions in the past with Joe Aribo and Alex Iwobi opting to play for the African nation. And Madueke is open to swapping, he said: “I am only 18 so I have got to be open to everything,” he told SunSport. “If I had a closed mindset I would not be where I am now so for sure I am open to both. “We just have to see in the future what is best.” Madueke gave kudos to legendary Manchester United and Netherlands striker Ruud Van Nistelrooy, current head coach of PSV U-19s, for helping to honed his finishing. He said learning from Van Nistelrooy is already making a difference as he has four league goals and three assists from only three starts in ten Eredivisie appearances. He also spearheaded a Europa League comeback with a goal and an assist in PSV’s 3-2 win against PAOK last week and is in line to feature at Granada today (Thursday). “Ruud helped me a lot last year, taking my game to the next level and now I am just trying to get better every day. “I have always scored nice goals but I know I needed to score easier ones — being in the right place at the right time — striker-type finishes. “Ruud has been teaching me how to get into those positions more and, being a Manchester United fan, I know he is the master of that.” As well as working with Van Nistelrooy, PSV summer signing and 2014 World Cup-winning goalscorer Mario Gotze has also been having an impact on him. Madueke added: “Mario is a top player and top players rub off on other good players. He has been great with me since signing. “Him being around, training with us and playing with us is definitely going to improve me.” Born in Barnet, north London, Madueke got picked up by Spurs age 12 and within three years was U16s captain and featuring for the U18s. |

Places In FIFA Ranking

The rankings was published on FIFA’s official website. In Africa, the Super Eagles are now the continent’s fourth best team. …see this coach? It shows he does not
even know the players he invites to
national team. As a German if he
watches Bundesliga he should know
that Akpoguma plays centreback for
Hoffenheim… ok, let us agree you
played Akpoguma at rightback because
he is better in the air than Awaziem,
Aina and Ebuehi… so are you telling us
Rohr that you will invite four rightbacks
to play a match? Is that normal for
anyone who is not retarded? The quality
of heading… where do we need it more?
Right back or Centreback? Anyone who
is not a PHE teacher will know headers
for a defender are qualities needed for
critical clearances and when aerial balls
are floated in… they come right to the
middle, so if Akpoguma is good with
the head as Balogun which we know,
does common sense not suggest
Akpoguma should be used at
Centreback and not Rightback? Why
should a coach then have four
rightbacks for a match? This man is
confused… he knows if Kevin
Akpoguma is to play at Centreback, he
has to sacrifice between Balogun and
Ekong, and clearly it is Ekong who
should sit on the bench for
Akpoguma… he is afraid of Ekong
because of the status of occasional
vice-captain and does not want to start
him from the bench… this is the point
period! You have to sacrifice high-
performing fullbacks like Awaziem,
Aina with knowledge of the African
game and even an ever performing
Ebuehi for someone who should better
be deployed at centreback… Gernot
Rohr is confused PHE teacher! Who will
give a man like this coaching job at
this point in his life anywhere in any
division if not we in Africa with our
slave mentality and inferiority complex.
Can Rohr coach French or German
national team? Him even get the liver to
fit go near those people dressing
room? We celebrate mediocrity in
Africa that is why even the whites never
take us serious… we have no pride in
our ourselves… we can always tolerate
a foolish whiteman but never our own.
Which indegenous coach has ever been
treated as good as Rohr? saw this analysis on COMPLETE SPORTS , after ROHR Defend AKPOGUMA |

Pinnick To Super Eagles:
You Must Go To Freetown
And Beat Sierra Leone By
At Least 4-0
11 November 14, 2020 1:59 p NFF president Amaju Pinnick said the only way the Super Eagles can appease football fans in the country is to go to Freetown and beat Sierra Leone 4-0 in the return leg of the 2021 AFCON qualifiers on Tuesday, Completesports.com reports. The Eagles shockingly surrendered a four-goal lead to draw 4-4 against the Leone Stars. Speaking to the players inside their dressing room, Pinnick described it as the worst result he has experienced as NFF chairman. “I will say it the way it is in my heart and the heart of so many Nigerians. The truth is that we can’t be leading 4-0 against Sierra Leone and concede four goals for no reason,” Pinnick said in a video with the players published on the Super Eagles YouTube channel. “Since I became the NFF president this is the worst result I’ve seen in my life. Next few days I wonder how I’m going to sleep. It’s not because of losing or we won’t qualify for the Nations Cup, it’s certainly because this is towards the end of the year, you know the passion and love Nigerians have for this game. “It’s football, it can go either way but what happened to us? Were we complacent? Were we so comfortable that we were leading 4-0 and all of a sudden the goals start coming in? At the end of the day nobody is going to call your name, it’s the coach and Amaju Pinnick. That is the truth. Unfortunately he is not the one on the pitch. I saw the reaction of your captain after they score the fourth goal and I shed tears for the first time in a long time. “That spirit of competition is not there anymore, to me that’s the truth. I’m not the coach but if I’m the coach there are some people that will not come to the team again and that’s the truth. “Nigeria has 200 million people and should consider ourselves privileged playing for the national team. It hurt all of us I cannot think of anything else because we put in a lot, I did a check list, the flight, the immigration, custom, everything, just to make sure that everything goes seamlessly. This is Nigeria, it is a big country. We don’t wake up playing Sierra Leone, you wake up playing Brazil, you wake up playing Argentina, you wake up playing Senegal. “If it was just a scoreless draw, it would have been a different ball game, from the defence to the midfield off, also the attack. If there is anything that will make us be that proud footballing nation, it’s for us to go to Sierra Leone and beat them 4-0. “It’s not just winning, winning is an understatement, it’s to make sure we give them that 4-0 and make sure they don’t score even one, that is the only thing we will do from the blast of the whistle till the end of the game.” Pinnick further added:”I’m bothered about our ranking, I’m bothered about so many things that possibly you people are not bothered about we take the blame everyday. I sat down to look at the check list, call the secretary, call the team doctor everyday, I’m the president but I took charge because of the importance of this game to you and to Nigerians. I’m very pained, I’m very emotional now. “When I was coming to meet you I was told to cheer you up I said no I can’t cheer you up and remain pained, let us suffer the emotion together I won’t cheer you up, not anymore. I’ve told you and I mean it, I will see your coach and there are somethings we are not going to accept anymore. “The beauty about falling down is resurgent enough to bounce back. Bounce back in a grand style because what you have done is that you have given them confidence that Nigeria is beatable. “We must go to Freetown and beat them at least four goals so that they will know truly the Eagles have landed. So we should double our effort and go to Freetown and win that game by 4-0 because it is very symbolic so that they will know that what happened in Nigeria was a fluke.” |

Super Eagles need 15
players to escape CAF
disqualification
By Alex Monye | 10 November 2020 |
4:16 am
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is
working round the clock to ensure it
has the complete number of players for
the African Cup of Nations qualifier
against Sierra Leone to avoid falling
foul of a new Confederation of African
Football (CAF) rule. The match against
the Leone Stars will hold in Benin on
Friday.
CAF at the weekend ruled that any
team that failed to fulfill an Africa Cup
of Nations qualifying fixture between
November 11 and 17 would be handed a
2-0 defeat. It said a team must have at
least 15 players – 11 starters plus four
substitutes – for a AFCON qualifier to go
ahead.
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF)
invited 23 players for the game against
Sierra Leone, but a recent decision by
European countries to shut their
borders due to a new spike in the
spread of COVID-19 has made
it difficult for some of the players to
arrive in Nigeria for the game. Reacting to the directive, NFF Media Director, Ademola Olajire, said the federation may resort to Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) players if the overseas-based stars failed to make the trip to Benin. “We are not at that juncture yet. I have no way of reading the coach’s mind on that option,” he declared. CAF’s recent guidelines on teams in the AFCON qualifier series is based on fears that the coronavirus pandemic could affect some of the 48 matchday three and four qualifiers to be played over seven days from tomorrow. Four international friendlies involving African countries were cancelled last month – two in Portugal, one in Turkey and one in Senegal – because of COVID-19. Super Eagles Media Officer, Femi Raji, yesterday morning revealed that five of the players arrived have arrived in camp, adding that more were still being expected. Among the early birds are Kelechi Iheanacho, Oghenekaro Etebo, Maduka Okoye, Ahmed Musa and Paul Onuachu. Meanwhile, CAF has categorically stated that no journalists or supporters would be allowed inside the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City for the AFCON qualifier. CAF instructed, under Media Operations, that there would be no mixed zone, virtual press conference only if possible (media officers from both teams only), and that only the TV channels with the rights will be allowed flash interviews. Also, only photographers of participating teams would be allowed at the match. The above puts to rest all previous speculations regarding having spectators at the match venue, and whether members of the media would be allowed into the arena. NFF’s Director of Competitions, Bola Oyeyode yesterday said only individuals accredited by the NFF would be allowed inside the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium for the Day 3 qualifier, which will kick off at 5.00 pm Nigeria time. |

From Super Eagles Vs
Sierra Leone Clash The 2022 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying fixture between the Super Eagles of Nigeria and Leone Stars of Sierra Leone on Friday, November 13 at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium will be played without any spectators. There were earlier reports that around 6,000 to 7,000 will be allowed into the newly refurbished ground for the game.
