Do you have to be derogatory to drive home a rather sensible point? I've resigned from this firm and do not live in Nigeria again..But I need to be well-advised as to what to do. If I didn't need an advice, I would've long posted the links to gain cheap points
If I may ask:
1. Did you ever 'do work' for the party in question?

Whatever decision you take, know that it may not necessarily lead to financial compensation. They may just end up attaching your name to the article at most.

Finally, as the presidential elections are coming up this weekend, you have to make sure that any legal steps you may take will bring results within the week. Else, your matter MAY NOT even have weight again.

See as the man humble that time.
It must have felt like coming back from the dead.

But he could have used his position as President for 8 years to set a good record that subsequent govt would follow. Unfortunately he didn't perform differently from past leaders.

nwanna89:
I noticed that a lot of states and also the FG give out construction contracts and the work ends up being executed by foreigners. Most times...lebanese, chinese or indians.

My question is...if nigerians can construct houses...why dont we have the technical knowledge to construct roads or bridges?

What is your take?
I think the question should be:

Who has proven record to get the job done without compromising safety standards and life expectancy?

Would you willingly give the contract of a high risk project like 'Niger bridge' for instance to Chukwudi & bros/Oluwole & sons/**** & cows Nigeria ltd. just because you want local content?

I think if our local contractors can prove themselves in the small projects they are awarded, they will get bigger contracts.

The problem is that they end up delivering low-budget projects that begin to degrade after a few months because of using low-quality materials e.g. roads, buildings, etc.

Having said the above, there is the Local content bill that requires a certain percentage of government contracts to be awarded to indigenous companies.

Meanwhile, we're getting there - Team Innoson
PoliticsRe: Battle Of Kukawa, Nigerian Army, Civilian JTF Pound Boko Haram (video) by alizenbohr: 3:24am On Mar 15, 2015
GenBuhari:
Don't be deceived .

Some questions:

How can we be certain from the video that they are pounding "Boko Haram" as OP stated?

Are we sure that what we are watching is not our enemies colluding with Nigerian troops to clear our territory.

So the federal army of Nigeria communicate with each other in a language other than English during battles?

Why does the scene of battle seem so laid back that people can be talking to the camera and almost nobody is taking cover?

Why no film of captured or dead Boko Haram ?

Why Nigeria going into battle with untrained and apparently unarmed civilians travelling in bright coloured vehicles (not camouflaged) is that how a professional army operates?.

Could this video have been staged?

Could it be that the so called CTF are really Boko Haram members? seeing as some are even wearing Boko Haram uniforms (although the video narrative claims it was taken from Boko Haram).

Who starts dressing in their enemies clothes during a war?

A lot does not add up.
There's only one way to get reply to your questions:

Carry your high-tech smart phone go join dem do investigative journalism then bring back the full report.

You can believe that France bombed Nigeria without pix.

You can post about Book Haram claiming villages in NE without video.

But here you have video evidence of the collaboration of NA and CJTF to curb BH menace and you're asking 'silly' questions.

You are the deceiver here.
PoliticsRe: APC, PDP Supporters Clash In Owerri(pics) by alizenbohr: 3:13am On Mar 15, 2015
londongal02:
By 7am, reports indicated that FUTO students were being conveyed to the venue of the debate in buses by a PDP stalwart with links to FUTO of recent past.

By 8am, APGA and PDP loyalists clashed in a supremacy battle. The battle led to a minor blood bathe on both sides.

At about 10am, the organizers announced the cancellation of the debate owing to the violence from PDP and APGA THUGS with Capt. Iheanacho moving around the venue with about 20 party loyalists seeking for notice.

Shortly after the announcement, Mr Emeka Ihedioha arrived with dangerously looking men with hands in their pockets obviously hiding weapons and looking defeated, hungry and angry.

Gov. Rochas Okorocha who was on his way to the debate was consequently informed of the fiasco and was no where near the venue but as he rode past the International Convention Centre, supporters and Ndi Imo "forced" him on a road show around the city as a mark of support and solidarity. An indication of their support for APC and rejection of the violence prone opposition parties.

Imo is indeed better.

To God be the glory.
Guy stop lying.
I think you should confirm your so-called news from those who are on ground in FUTO.

You gain nothing by misleading the public.

Adekunlemetals1:
If you have witnessed the entourage of his excellency, you will notice that before he arrives you will have seen the presence of many security men.
I think Fashola spoke as the chief security officer of the state who has invested A whole lot in strengthening of security in the state by equipping all necessary security apparatus from the police men to the defence Corps.
With the amount of robbers at the scene you should know it has been properly planned and knowing that the visit of the president would warrant more men of the force, the robbers know the operation would be a work over. I think they really worked hard on their thoughts. What I am expecting now is for the police to wear proper thinking cap as well to unravel the theives and get justice for all that died including the fish seller on the road.
Are you for real?
Do you know how MANY policemen are operating in Lagos state?
If you have witnessed Presidential entourage, can you estimate how many policemen are part of Jonathan's security detail (excluding SSS)?

Has this kind of daylight robbery ever happened in Lagos within the last 4 years?

I'm aware that police arrived at the scene some minutes after the robbers were gone. Did they come from GEJ's campaign venue?

If your reasoning is anything to go by, then I guess even Fashola's personal security was drafted to attend to the Presidential visit abi?

Guy, na wa for this your way of thinking o.

Ok Mr. Lucky one. Have you done any special thing to ensure power is available to the zone you control. I am asking because in my area, we the inhabitants and users of electricity are responsible to repairs and replacement of any damaged equipment. We contribute miney to repair transformer, replace damaged poles and reconect disconnected cables. We have to pay your staff or colleagues to do their job.

Hope you are benefiting from our contributions too.
C'mon bro, we just got recruited as graduate trainees and are still on NAPTIN training. There's also a lot of reorientation about what is expected of workers here (no longer govt. work as usual).

BTW, I had to leave when I got a better offer elsewhere.

One thing is sure:
There's no going back on the privatization of the power sector (which is what we've all been clamoring for). With time, just like the telecom industry, the benefits will start to show.

In the meanwhile, there's a lot if ongoing work to revive existing 'dead' facilities and procure new ones.

Design and construction
Architect: Adrian Smith at SOM

Developer: Emaar Properties

Structural engineer: Bill Baker at SOM

Main contractor: Samsung Engineering and Construction Company, Besix and Arabtec
Supervision Consultant Engineer & Architect of Record Hyder Consulting

Planning: Bauer AG and Middle East Foundations

Lift contractor: Otis VT consultant, Lerch Bates.

Privatised? Very true

Who bought it?

Their family and friends

So it still belongs to them
I think you should be more objective.

The bidding and sale of the DISCOs and GENCOs was advertised in the national dailies and I personally watched the bidding process on AIT which was quite transparent.

I also know that Sahara Power (of Sahara oil & gas), one of the biggest buyers & owned by a private individual, has a large stake in this industry and no corporation which spent money to acquire such facilities will allow it to waste.(They've recruited hundreds of graduates and experienced hands at IKEDC, Egbin, Omoku,... in 2014 alone).

There's a lot of ongoing reforms in the power industry but years of rot may require us to wait a bit longer for the dividends to show.

francizy:
Guys lemme give you the real development and the best area for our government or Buhari (of he wins) to invest if they actually wanna invest in indirect jobs creation.

How many graduates are we producing per year? Why will someone pay poor people 5k monthly when there are thousands of graduates pouring out of the university like waterfall?

Currently the aim of serving our fatherland is defeated yet nobody ever looks into that area, both GEJ and Buhari. Why don't they empower employees of NYSC, empower them with business management/planning/marketing/financial management skills or releave them off their duties and employ people with business backgrounds/qualifications to become NYSC workers.

Why did I say this? It's because we need to equip our corps members with business management, business planning/marketing/market analysis/financial management skills, afterwards, these corps members should be empowered with certain amount of money to help them start their own businesses.

Corps members should go for the 3 weeks camp, paid for one month and allowed to go to their states of choice to attend the Business trainings. After all these, then empower them and you will create wealthy people in the long run and our private sector will boom greatly.

This is my contribution.

True.

You caught me while I was still typing.
PoliticsRe: A Problem With Nairaland And How To Fix It by alizenbohr:
Diluminati,

I'm not holding brief for Seun but I think what brought about the need for news verification - if I would call it so - from external news sites was borne out of 2 main issues:

1. Plagiarism: Before, people would publish works that were not originally theirs and take credit without acknowledging the source. The need for 'sauce' before moving any story to FP has put this in check.

2. Rumours/Lies: I may not have been here as long as you have, but I have experienced my own fair share of 'shocking revelations' that only turned out to be hoax & propaganda; hence the need for a reliable source for every FP story.

About originality and meaningful discuss...

I believe you might agree with me that the elections (since 2013) has given Nairaland so much exposure, even among government circles, that it has become a tool for campaign, mudslinging, slander, ... and that all manner of people both those on payroll or those driven by personal prejudice see this place as an avenue to prove their money's worth or display their 'devotion'.

Just give it some time after elections (if it holds), and you will be surprised at the decorum that would return to Nairaland.

First of all the government is very smart not to include it. How can the government put their official stamp or seal?
Don't you know it will implicate them the more.
But how do you know (for sure) its from the government and not just by speculating?

The absense of govt. signage means that it is yet to be/was not approved.

Anybody can type anything in the name of government; what authenticates the document is a verified seal and/or signature.

Anyway, today is Thursday.
