GistFullGround: Why are you crying over split milk? Who else is the Oba of Lagos, is it Adebiyi or Akiolu?
Oba Akiolu is the custodian of Lagos and there is nothing anybody can do about it until his passing on.
And by the way, NOBODY knows you in Lagos, you are so insignificant! I agree that as far as nl is concern, I am insignificant but as far as Lagos is concern I doubt it. This is where I stop, yes Lagos is bini land, igbos developed it and is never a Yoruba land. You can also try you luck by contesting for the kingship since you are bini |

history2902: Dude, you are not making any sense, history is not something which you can change according to your mood. Yoruba is not even a people, the name "yoruba" is not even as old as the name "nigeria". Please I gave you the feinition of the word "History", so stop using that word frivolously. You really make me laugh when you claim: "As of today we are yorubas" . That is just like me claiming "As of today I am the last of the mohicans" or "as of today I am prince Efosa of Edinbourg". Dude read well, Bini and Esan(which is what binis call ishans) have always been part and parcel of ile ife history. Yoruba is coined for people of similar history and way of life NOT LANGUAGE . This is where binis for it VERY WRONG. If it is language, akoko, ijebu, awori, owo, ekiti etc would have never been part of the Yoruba ethic stock today because our language id TOTALLY different from Yoruba but we all have a common history from ile ife and that is why we adopted YORUBA as our ethnic group. Today you would find people from auchi, okada etc claiming Yoruba because they have a better understanding than people like you |

history2902: Once again which history are you quoting ? How does it even make sense that you would claim that "Itsekiri, awori, ilaje, akoko" are "yoruba" ? For example the land of the Itsikeri doesn't even border the south-west. Historical documents show Lagos as being part of the Benin empire. The only thing all these ethnic groups have in common with the "yoruba" are Benin costums which those calling themselves "yoruba" took from the Benin Empire. Is it time yet for me to point out the fact that Edos have no difficulty understanding "yoruba" dialects, my mother doesn't have any difficulty speaking yoruba and she told me that yoruba is a mild corruption of Edo. Thank God your mother understands Yoruba, so why is she not Yoruba. Is bini not Yoruba ? I also understand Yoruba because of the dialect. Tell your mother to go back to her root, ifa, sango, ogun etc We are Yoruba as far as Yoruba minorities are concern. It is a privilege and an honour to be Yoruba and not any other group. Ask any awori, ilaje etc Itsekires have paid visit to ile ife. How more binis. Tell her to find her root |

GistFullGround: Why wont I? Is it because the story does not favor you or what you believe? Are you trying to say you know more than the custodian of Lagos? Please who is the custodian of Lagos ? It is now even akiolu's turn but the adebiyi's turn but he was forced on us by tinubu so what are you saying. Get real, when push comes to shove, we know our people and our people know us |
Culture › Re: Oba Of Lagos On The Relationship Between Benin & Lagos by aljharem(m): 4:14pm On Jul 02, 2017 |
history2902: So basically, aljharem, unless someone claims the story which was told to you, you will not believe. A long time ago I showed you precolonial maps as proof and now you are hearing the King of Lagos giving his testimony and still you continue claiming your disproved story. I bet that even if I invent a time machine and take you to the past you will still not belive your "lying eyes". Get real. So because the oba including myself have our origin from edo it means we are edo ? Again unless bini is Yoruba, we would claim edo. As of today we are yorubas. And yes if you are presently in Lagos, I can take you to the oba's palace and show you my history. |

history2902: OK tell me what you are quoting as your "history" ? You have to distinguish between made up stories and History. History has it that binis esan were all yorubas so if they now want to go their own way, they should leave others out of it. Itsekiri, awori, ilaje, akoko, tax are all yorubas as of today. |

history2902: @kongquest Perharp it is time for "yoruba" to stop claiming people of the ancient Benin empire. The "yoruba" have been trying to claim Benin City, but they were unsucessful, now they are going after the Edos in the Delta and elsewhere whose land was part of the Benin empire and whose people most likely migrated from Benin City. For your information, Itsekeri and Urhobos are Edo, they have nothing to do with "Yoruba". I know you guys are making these claims because you want to lay claim to Niger Delta oil. But enough is enough. What annoys me is that many Edos who just happen to speak yoruba dialects now think that they are yoruba. So now we are edo ? I think you are sick. If edo does not know their origin, we lagosians, itsekiri, akoko, ofosu, etc know our history |
Culture › Re: 30 Interesting Facts About Some Nigerian Minority Ethnic Groups by aljharem(m): 1:32pm On Jul 02, 2017 |
Efewestern: Migrates? lol funny
Every ethnic group migrated from somewhere, itsekiri migrated from Yoruba, urhobo from edo, but that doesn't mean they don't own that land.
I have some ijaw who are ondo indigene. ijaw territory in edo and ondo is surrounded by itsekiri, ilaje and urhobo, how they intend carving those states out will be a big issue.
we will leave that for another day. You have a point but crave out is a no no as far as yorubas are concerned. Ijaws in ondo migrated of recent and they will be chased out |

hedonistic: Its sickening on so many levels. That being said, we have to pray against these kinds of things. MOST men would tune off permanently from a wife (that they suffered and spent so much to legally and traditionally marry) getting raped in their presence. Whether they continue with the marriage or divorce the woman is irrelevant. Staying is even worse.
It destroys a man's psyche and emotional balance, probably far more than the woman's. This is not about fairness, empathy, logic, or rationality or whatever. Just forget it.
Again, this is not something to trivialise or joke about. We must pray to avoid this life altering situation. aptly put. |
