In fairness to people reading this thread, let me point out that results will differ. Why?
1. Rome was not built in a day: You need to get your sales strategy right, and that can take time
2. Some people will be marketing using free ads like bombing threads on Nairaland and Facebook groups, while some people will use paid ads. Obvious!! Results will differ.

In conclusion, let me quickly point out. When you start out as a mini-importer, I would not expect you to remain there if you see big opportunity in any product you are selling/pushing. Like I advised someone who contacted me on this product, I told the person to ensure to have at least 10 people in the immediate environment you can sell the product to offline. And guess what? You would make a about 100 percent ina profits. Gradually with time you can make millions off the product. It is left to you.

For your reader's who are already into mini Importation and selling online would make something out of paying you for information on name of a researched product. But the case is entirely different for the majority who are seeking investment portfolios for passive income (side hassle). For this group it is important as you have just done to let them know that just getting the product to their warehouses doesn't imply they have arrived at eldorado and your consultancy doesn't cover finding buyers, delivery and receiving/forwarding payments.
Your advice on having at least 10 offline customers is a great and honest yard stick to test the market before plunging. Welldone and God bless you

I just sold a domain name after a very long time and special thanks to the masters in the house and my mentors Iykepromotions and Haykay for guiding me through the process. The domain name is Pango.io, I got the domain November 2017 at $32 and had it listed on both SEDO and Afternic. I put the price at SEDO for $1599 with make offer. I got a mail last week from Afternic that someone inquired about the domain and that I should include a Buy Now Price and a Floor Price. I quickly made the buy now price $1599, same amount on SEDO and made the Floor Price $1299.

The very next day, I got a mail from SEDO that a buyer offered $800 for the domain and with the comment that it is the last and best price he can offer. I immediately contacted my mentors and they say I can accept the offer and delete the listing on Afternic. Six days after accepting the offer, the buyer has not made payment and SEDO was still sending reminder for him to make payment. That was when Afternic sent a mail that a buyer has offered to buy the domain at $1295 and they have the money already but they noticed that I deleted my listing with them.

I spoke to my mentors and immediately followed their advice and re-listed it with Afternic, sent the Authorization code and sent a mail to SEDO explaining situation that I am no longer willing to sale since the buyer had refused to make payment after 6 days. Fortunately for me, SEDO on their own today decided to cancel the transaction as the buyer has failed to make payment asking me to sue the buyer for breach of contract. Meanwhile, domain is already with the Afternic buyer. Na Baba God do am oooo

What I do now is to include a USA whatsapp number and an alternative email address in my signature.
But don't worry so much. If they really like the domain and you have a BIN price set they can still buy it. Your out-bound is just to put the word out.

As discouraging as that is, I still feel and believe I can still make it on Fiverr against the odds. methods that worked some years back when this thread was created may not work today. hence, I'm pleadingly asking that someone on here puts me through on how Fiverr is done today. I want to venture into the writing niche.

secondly, I haven't gotten the level of affluence required to invest in Fiverr for now. as I have come to know, buying of reviews is trendy and seems to work. also worth mentioning is the creation of videos that depicts one's services. the question is, can I still get orders without doing any of these? I'm sincerely asking because like I said earlier, I've not gotten the level of affluence required for the aforementioned.

lastly, can I venture into the writing niche with just my smartphone? I currently don't have a windows device. I type faster on smartphone than I do on a laptop. I know some apps that I can use for writing articles. I'd love if someone suggest others if there's any in this niche doing it with just a smartphone.

It cost nothing to setup a fiverr account, so why not, you should certainly give it a try. While you are at it, you could also write for some established writers here who sometimes have excess work load. I experience that often and am always happy to share my income.
You can type on your smart phone except you may not be able to run grammarly, copyscape etc

I did all I could to get my Upwork profile approved, I invested time in building my profile, took several tests and passed and I've sent 20 proposals already without as much as "Hey, what did you say you're selling again"
And my Fiverr is blooming. But I want to divest really.

Persistence is the secret of success in every endeavor.
Upwork and Fiverr both rock. I earn on both platforms.
Upwork provides you connects for 30 proposals monthly. So with 20 proposals you are only scratching the surface.
The proposals you have sent are still active and could still get you a client when you least expect.
My Guide :
1. Stay online regularly. Check your Upwork email (morning, afternoon & night) as it is easier to notice new notification there than in your messages section on Upwork platform
2. I have discovered that short Proposals tend to win more clients. Clients are busy people, if you know what I mean.
3. There are bad Clients, just as there are stupid Freelancers. Read client reviews and try to bid on Clients with above 4.5 rating with "Payment verified".
4. This is very Important. It sinks my heart seeing people bidding on clients who have already received over 10 bids. Come on; you really think a client will leave his business to read over 10 proposals while also chatting with 1 or 2 selected Freelancers?
5. God will crown your efforts in His own time
6. Keep learning and updating your skills. You are in a technology-driven business. Every second, what you know is changing and that is why there are lots of clients looking for solution on Upwork and Fiverr.
7. I will stop on this last point for now. Your niche should be market driven. What is the market demanding? Websites & Mobile App development is in much demand and that also drives an ever growing demand for SEO optimization and content provision.

First visit upwork.com and or fiverr.com familiarize yourself with the sites and try to signup your account. You can then ask further questions.
Fiverr is more friendly for beginners though very competitive. But Upwork rates tend to be better
