everyone screaming they'd never submit their paychecks to their husbands is unmarried

everyone who is married finds that kind of sentiment strange

i watch the fillers. . .though as more and more of them come by. . . its starting to get depressing, especially when they tease you by pretending that naruto will discover any new info about sasuke.

i may start watching bleach, I'd also suggest looking at Black Lagoon. I'm not sure your tastes in anime, but for me, it is very interesting and pulls you into wanting to see the next episode the way naruto used to sometimes do.

pastors are human beings too and they cannot be jack of all trade.
som are full time pastors and that how they survive, amidst other blesssings from God

i hope TayoD and tv01 are going to talk more about this.
That is true, which is why some churches pay their pastor a salary. That is not the same thing as a tithe. tv01 has done the hard work of responding to some of the . . . incorrect interpretations about tithing both from the old and new testament. . . when i started reading the new posts since i was last here. . .i was getting worried i'd have to spend a lot of time. . .hehe

So, your choice is obvious. To you, this is similar to asking if you would save your dog or your mother.
Christianity EtcRe: The NBC ban of unverified TV miracles in Nigeria by allonym: 5:37am On May 30, 2006
donnie:
Question:

Do you have details of circumstances surrounding the ban or details of occurencies before and after the ban was imposed?

They are not being sincere; they are not concerned about any verification whatsoever.

Whatever policies or decrees any government makes should be in conformity to the existing law. A policy or ban is not legal just because a few in government think it is.

Besides, the laws governing the operations of the media in Nigeria are not what should be in a democracy. They are for a military system.

Their intention was to take miracles off our TVs and that they did.

But it shall be but for a while. When the Lord is ready, things will change and there is nothing any man would be able do about it.
Ok, strictly speaking, what is illegal about the ban?

NOTHING.

In order for the ban to be illegal, it would have to be in violation of an established law. Since there is no law that says a corporation MUST show miracles on tv, their ban on it on their stations cannot be illegal.

This is ridiculous, its like saying its illegal for your parents to ban alcohol comsumption in their house.
FamilyRe: mother or wife both have a bad kidney and need one of yours, who would you give by allonym: 5:30am On May 30, 2006
for a person to say you can always get a new wife, obviously the wife does not mean much to the person

Its like the people who rationalize saving their wife over the children because "you can always make more children"

#1 - There is no guarantee you can get another wife - I suppose though in some african nations, you could buy one. . so maybe you would have a guarantee.
#2 - In the similar case that I mentioned, there is no similar guaratee on the production of children, though like I mentioned before - in some places these can be bought as well.

FamilyRe: Unexpected Pregnancy: Whose Decision Is It? by allonym: 5:26am On May 30, 2006
how is it the man's decision?

He is not married to the woman, her body is under her control. It is only WHEN the child is born does he have a say over his/her future.
FamilyRe: mother or wife both have a bad kidney and need one of yours, who would you give by allonym: 5:19am On May 30, 2006
Easy - Give it to my child.

Again,

#1 - if i could save both successfully, child would most likely outlive mother
#2 - mother is old, who knows, after getting the kidney, 5 days later could have a heart attack and die, then I lose both anyway
#3 - if I asked my mom the make the decision, she will tell me to give it to my child.
#4 - what person would seriously have a hard time making the decisions so far mentioned in this thread?

The hard question is, you have twin children who need a transplant only you can give and you can only save one, which do you save. That is a catch 22.

there is a tabloid that every year in january publishes a prediction that the world will end in the current year.

Maybe from now on, nobody should ever entertain anyone who comes to them with some "outrageous" business plan. . .

Though, not only would it put scammers out of business. . . but probably put a stop the the many legitimate nigerian billionaires who actually come up with great ideas and need financial backing.

\Simple, if you are used to having multiple girls, first you may want to have one. Make sure she is someone who is morally upright. Then, you could start limiting your urge for sex by ensuring you do not put yourself in ackward positions where it would be hard to muster self restraint. I would also suggest you fast at least twice in a week. It has been shown to limit sexual urge in those that do it.
Umm, what do you mean by "want to have one"? I'm trying to see how a morally upright girl fits into the picture? Do you mean if he wants a girlfriend and still keep himself from indulging in sexual activities, he should find someone who is also committed to the selfsame goals?

Konyi618:
HAHA, Okay I am a Christian and I read that book and I thought it was a very good unrealistic book. However I think it pollutes the minds of those who are bent on discrediting the Catholic church and the Christian Faith. Frankly as a child when told not to do something with no reason attached then the automatic response is to read it one way or ANOTHER. I think that Disney films and cartoons don't usually promote a very postitive message, but we let children watch those because they look so innocent.
I'm kind of confused, if the Da Vinci Code pollutes the minds of thsoe who are bent on discrediting the Catholic church and the Christian faith, then isn't that a GOOD thing?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
I think many people have forgotten that Adam and Eve have already tasted the fruit of the tree of knowledge/good and evil. It is too late. Before that, when God said, don't do this, and didn't tell them why, it was for their own good. Now, that sort of innocence is gone. It would be foolish to ban things solely because it promotes a point of view that you disagree with. I think good parents are capable of influencing their children. If your television serves as your childs babysitter, YOU are the problem, not the content providers. At some point, everyone must make the choice between accepting what is right, and what is wrong. If your child is so isolated from the world, how will they act when it is time to make those decisions?
Christianity EtcRe: Are Christians in Conflict or Does the Bible Contradict Itself? by allonym(op): 9:36pm On May 29, 2006

Having 'dispatched' all 'issues' related to this topic, Do we take it that it is generally agreed that Christians are not in conflict neither does the Bible contradict itself.?

I stand up to be counted as one that strongly believes that the Bible does not contradict itself neither are Christians in conflict

Where do you stand?
Eh? Perhaps it can be argued that the bible does not contradict itself, and the contradictions arise due to different ways of interpreting it. Since the people most concerned with doing the interpretation are christians, then, in order to validly make the argument that the bible does not contradict itself, it MUST be the christians who are in conflict.

There is more proof that christians are in conflict (independent of any potential biblical contradictions) For example, there are catholics, protestants, under the catholics - there are roman catholic, anglicans, etc, under protestants. . .well, that could take forever listing them all. This suffices to say, there is definitely some conflict among christians.

Even more proof, I am a christian - look at most of the threads (especially in the religion) section in which I was involved - you will definitely see some conflict!

Celebrities around the world are prone to identity theft crimes.

A Sacramento, California man used Tiger Wood's Social Security number and got a driver's license and charged $17,000 worth of luxury goods in the golfer's name, despite the fact he looks nothing like Woods. Before some of you start thinking, the guy wasn't Naija. I confirmed.
This is a total fabrication. It never happend.

Also, earlier, someone mentioned that genuine cafe's post warnings against illegal activity - well guess what, the bad ones do that as well. 419 scammers are not vampires who are burned by the cross, i'm sure they know that if they post such messages, it only makes it harder to determine where they are operating. There are many articles similar to this one: http://www.wired.com/news/culture/0,1284,53818,00.html interviewing such ppl.

Someone wrote in this forum that death is inevitable. I disagree.
1Co 15:51
Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,
2Ti 1:10 - Show Context
But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel:
1 Thess4:17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. 18 Wherefore comfort F11 one another with these words.

Death and life are one of the many choices of life that we make based on what you have believed.
Seeing as you back up lots of your other arguments with the bible, I find it strange you went astray on this one.

According to the bible, we will all die to this world and be reborn in heaven. A physical death on this world is what is meant by the words die and death. They are not metaphysical constructs. So, even according to the bible, we will all die.

Permit me to say I can see this is a straght fight between the conservatives and the liberals. Fortunately, on some issues, I am conservative, and this just happens to be one of them. God, in his infinite wisdom, in all major originally monotheistic religions has set the limits for mankind. But man, in his limited but rebellious wisdom thinks he can bend those limits, or break them entirely. This has always been his bane. And all the time, it leads to his destruction.

The limits are clear, you are not allowed to as much as kiss your spouse, before marriage, not to talk of actually co-habiting with same. All the excuses which justify this practice are lame, and hold no water. Those that are liberal in their views are only so because, like our ancestor Adam and eve did, they tasted the fruit. And from the moment you do that, there is no turning back! And so to them, it wouldn't matter if you had sex or not, however, I am of the opinion that you should not have premarital sex under whatever pretext, and definitely, you should avoid situations that will lead to this grievious sin. Those who have tasted the fruit, even though it may be difficult to abstain from having more and more bites of it, I advise that you first reduce the extent of the bite, and gradually, just like an alcoholic, you will start giving up the vice. Cheers.
By definition, it is not. The word liberal and conservative has become so twisted now, I'm starting to wish that they would be stricken from the english language. Not only do the words not truely describe liberal or conservative ideologies, they are used as derogatory terms and a catchall for everyone who disagrees with whichever side the current pundit opposes.

The topic is on the Ban on showing miracles on T.V . I think the NBC was wrong to do that because if you take a look at the NBC's rules and regulation there was no cause or decree to that effect.
If NBC is banning something, then they have just created a rule or decree to that effect. Perhaps in your reading of their rules and regulations, you unintentionally ignored the one that said - "We are banning the broadcast of unverified miracles on our stations".
